This is the place to get all of your instrument rental needs! We rented my son's cello here for the school year and extended it through the summer. He started at a 3/4 size but it was slightly too big after a month or so on playing on it, and they easily switched us to a 1/2 size. Awesome! Everyone who works here is beyond friendly and helpful. Recently, my son accidentally broke the bridge on his cello. I called, thinking this was going to cost $$$ but it was covered under our rental agreement! Whew! Luckily my son wasn't going to forgo some allowance to chip in on this. I dropped it off mid-morning and it was ready the next day. I brought in the broken bridge and the guy working there (I forget his name!) custom made a brand new one. If you want friendly and reasonably priced rentals, this is the place to go. They also have lots of instruments for sale - string, keyboards, guitars, ukes - anything you need! And you won't find nicer people anywhere, of that I'm sure. read more

All Music and I have a long history. In 4th grade, i rented my trumpet for band class here. In 6th I got my first of my very own. In 7th grade, when I picked up guitar, I got my first guitar here, and in 9th grade, my second. It was then that my relationship with the store deteriorated. I bought a Gibson SG Special from the store. While this kind of independant music store loses out to the big chains by usually being unable to offer competitive prices, I paid retail for my guitar (about $980). When I came to pick up the guitar they brought it out, along with a gig bag. Gibson guitars do not come with gig bags. They come with hardshell cases specifically made for the type of guitar they are sold with. Eventually we got them to give me the included gig bag instead of selling it to me for an additional $200, as if it was some sort of special treatment. I also got my first guitar lessons here from a teacher named Brad who started out as a pretty good, young teacher. He was in his own band and gave me their demo CD which was cool. I wasn't a big fan of their music but to each his own. To me I felt that if he had his own band it of course meant he was serious about the instrument. A few months after starting lessons we started having a problem. He occasionally wouldn't show up for lessons without warning us beforehand. Since we paid monthly for the lessons they would offer us "double lessons" to make up for it. When the time came that the final straw was drawn, we went to cancel the lessons when for the umteenth time he didn't show and didn't tell us, he of course showed up as the lesson was supposed to be ending and begged us to give him another chance. We said no and left. It was all so dramatic and unnecessary. I switched to private in-home lessons and was able to salvage my love of the instrument before it died completely after such a ridiculous experience. I will still go here occasionally if I need strings or picks and don't have time to drive all the way to Guitar Center, but I will not be making any more large purchases at All Music after they tried to rip me off like that. read more

A week after I scheduled an introductory lesson with Patrick, I showed up early. The people behind the counter seemed confused. Patrick checked his book and found my name and the accurately scheduled date and time with the teacher identified. But the teacher was not in the store. Patrick called him and spent a few minutes on the phone. The teacher was apparently apologetic and told Patrick he had a gig. Apparently he was not notified of the lesson and he never checked the schedule. Patrick kept telling him "It's all good, man." But it wasn't all good. I had driven an hour for the lesson and told Patrick that a dishonored appointment was not good. It was like the Seinfeld episode, where Seinfeld told the rental company, "You can take a reservation, you just can't keep a reservation." Obviously, these guys are arrogant, stupid, and incompetent, which is a bad combination. Stay away. read more

I was looking to buy my first electric guitar and after looking at some of the big chains, small stores and everything in between, found All Music. The entrance is located between to stores in a strip mall. The store is located downstairs. I made a few trip and here and spent alot of time trying different guitars and amps. This is, by far, the best place to buy an electric guitar on Long Island. I bought my third guitar there this weekend. The staff do not work on commissions; there's no pressure, and they're friendly and knowledgeable. I played the guitar one day, slept on it, and came back the next day. The selection is tremendous, unlike the chains that have many copies of the same guitar hanging on the walls. Emailed this shop about selling my guitar to them. They responded promptly and were very courteous. When I got to the shop, the salesman was very friendly and gave me a reasonable price for my guitar. He was also very knowledgeable and helpful. I must say, the store had a nice atmosphere and was very peaceful. Nothing like the feel I get from Sam Ash and Guitar Center. Those places are too crowded and rowdy. As for the location, I was able to find it easier because of one of the reviewer's on this site. It's also next to the Starbucks & has a giant guitar decal on the door. Today my daughter had her NYSSMA performance. The judge told her that she will not be receiving a score because of not shifting into third position during the song Ave Maria. I have been paying for her music learns since January to prepare her for the NYSSMA performance. What a waste of time and money. Randy is a wizard with guitar repair and it's usually a one-day turnaround for a setup. They will beat any price and I love supporting local businesses. I love to keep it local, and these guys are pleasant and helpful. Good selection for a non-monolith national chain, which I always try to avoid when possible. For some reason Guitar Center bothers me. I hear they're cheap as hell and dictatorial with their employees too, but I don't know that first hand. Kind of a hard to find place but once you find the door youll never forget where it is. Been shopping there for about 10 years now. Bought a few amps and always in for strings and cords. Last summer that had a really nice vintage gear room that they no longer have any more. at least in the last few months ive been back there. if you want something vintage you have to ask and they most likely have something in the warehouse that they will bring you. They recently remodeled the floor so its bright and you can see the counter when you walk in and it looks real nice now. Erwin built it and Guy is running with it. I recently bought a relatively inexpensive 6 string (tuned like a guitar) banjo at All Music. It was the only place on Long Island that had one set up and ready to play. They gave me all of the time and consideration that they would give someone buying an expensive instrument. The instrument looks and sounds great, and so much fun to play. They did some minor adjustments for free after I had it for a couple of weeks. I wanted them to lower the bridge and they did this for a very reasonable price. i advice people to please stay away from this music shop before buying a guitar the sales men there reasured me about the string spacing and that it was signed by the artist himself i did try it out but i said to myself let me just take their word for it. when i got home its not what they said it was. i called them and they told me no refunds im the one who played the guitar so there for its my fault. meanwhile i took there word for what they told me. and they still said its my fault no refunds. and i paid over a grand for the item read more

First of, I was refereed here by a guy that taught me everything i know about guitars and made me the musician i am today. I always shopped at Sam Ash in Carl Place, or online ( even bought a pearl drum set from sweet water). I did not know of this place called "All Music " whenever he mentioned it and thought he was crazy how a place could be better than Sam Ash as Guitar Center and monster Music failed. I always loved Sam Ash's commitment to friendly service, cleanliness, overall style of the large store, and the nice supply of instruments. I am a left-handed guitarist who also plays drums among other instruments and the only reason I'm giving All Music a 4 and not a 5 is because i feel they do amazing at their strengths which is friendly service, and an amazing supply of guitars, even for me as a lefty, they had about 4 guitars in my 500-700$ price range to try out while sam ash in stores only had 3 period. But my one only other gripe is the place is downstairs, and even though the carpet is vacuumed and all, i still feel the place needs a little more style. New carpet, nice glass in the cabinets, and a new paint job would make this place look less like someones amazing guitar collection in a basement and more like a store, but i actually dig how you can try everything out no sweat and there aren't 4 guys breathing down your neck like at guitar center. Anyways, my first ever day was about a month ago at the shop and i think the guys name was Steve but I'm bad with names and I'm probably wrong, but u can see him in there youtube videos and he's the guitar behind the counter with glasses and gray hair kinda skinny but not really i think. He helped me grab a new guitar amp for my band, knew my tutor right away, and basically treated me really well. set everything up for me to try out the amps, but no pressure on me, gave insight, and really helped me feel comfortable and actually made me sell myself on the amp by playing it instead of him selling it to me ( I did buy the amp though btw ). The next time i went it there, i went up to the counter and the best perk of the place is ordering any guitar you want that they don't have in stores for the same price as the big boys, and i even saved 2 $ on the guitar by shopping with All Music and i didn't have to pay shipping as the place is close and u have the awesome pick up at the store requirement which might be bad for some. But i asked for just calling him steve and he wasn't in which really stunk, cause he's the heart and soul of the place, he's not an owner cause i watched the youtube videos, but he sure deserves to be one because he got me into loving electric guitar not just my lovely acoustics that i dropped 1k on stuff and I'm only 18.....
