We went to Danny Yates for new plants for our remodeled front yard planting beds. The staff members that helped us to select plants for our particular situation were very helpful and knowledgeable. We wound up buying about a dozen plants in two different trips there because they didn't have the particular flower color on our first visit so we went back a couple of days later when the next truck delivery came in. In all we spent well over $200 for all the plants. Our landscaping company had some illnesses so couldn't come out to plant our selections for a couple of weeks. Before our guy came to plant we noticed that one of the eight of the blue flower plumbago looked wilted and the leaves started yellowing. So, since they hadn't been planted yet we took that one back to Yates. Here is what we were told: 1) feel the soil, it's too dry, have you watered this plant 2) you haven't planted it in 2 weeks? 3) I have to check with the owner 4) we can give you 10% off on the purchase of a replacement (this is a $12.80 plant so they are going to give us $$1.28 off) 5) if you water it it may come back Yates does not warranty their material or workmanship. So while they have some knowledgeable staff, I will not be purchasing any plants from them in the future. They lost a customer for $13. read more

I wanted to have my front yard soded,I called Danny Yates and another company, Danny yates was $100.dollars more then the other company. I went with Danny Yates I thought them being larger company they would be more professional. They sent me the estimate we agreed to the price. We gave them a deposit to start the job. Two weeks after they were ready to start the job. They sent there crew to start the work half way through putting down the sod. One of the guys comes up to me saying they need more MONEY I ask them why. I called the office to find out why they need more money ,she tells there short on sod for the job. The guy that did the estimate was short 500 Square feet, I asked them why I would be liable for that. She said it hard for them to be exact, I said why would that be my problem. Her reply was do you want us to finish the job or not. It would be $480 more to finish the job. If we did have them finish the job the permit on the property would be left open. In Cape Coral if you have an open permit you can not sell your home that is a Cape Coral law. Now I feel I have no choice but pay the $480 to finish my yard. I would not ever use DANNY YATES again ,very bad business. read more

They were a big team and banged it out in a couple of hours. I love everything that they've done and everything a month later is looking wonderful. I plan on coming back to them for some additional work. Not cheap, but as they say you get what you pay for and it's totally true here. read more

I had new construction completed and it was a bare lot with the mandatory 3 trees... Until we had our instant jungle installed. Now royal palms line our street we have a privacy hedge and as you can see the amazing tropical paradise George created for us that we look out at from every room! Whomever the mast lady was must have had re education or no longer works there because everyone we have dealt with has been wonderful! We also use Troy Yates for mowing pest control and maintenance. Investing in your property is worth every penny. It really makes the quality of life that much better. Was told yes the estimate is free and email pictures. I did and was emailed back "It's just a lot, the weeds will grow back in a couple mows". That is true it is just a lot that we maintain and is connected to our home but torn up from the vehicle that did donuts. Would give them a zero but that isn't an option. A 1 star is much too generous for this company. First of all, the older woman that works here and seems to be in charge is very snippy and rude. How they keep any business with this type of customer interactions is beyond me. Have never encountered such a rude woman whose job is to with customers. But the real problem with this company in general is that they give no guarantees or warranties on their plants or any service that they provide. Their guy, Andy, put in my sister's irrigation system at the house she was building. It worked fine for about 2 months and then quit working. When she called to have someone look at it, they told her that although they put it in and it was only a few months old, they do not give any guarantees or warranty any of their work. But they would be happy to send someone to look at it for $150. No thanks. And after spending $12,000 with them, she was on her own for all the plants and the irrigation system. Who doesn't come to look at a malfunctioning system that they themselves put in just a few months ago? Danny Yates, thas who. So, if you want to deal with rude older women who won't answer your questions or spend lots of money on plants and irrigation systems that don't last and are not warrantied, Danny Yates is the place for you. read more

We have a new build and they did the landscaping, the sprinkler system and the lighting. When we finalized with the builder and moved in we noticed the lighting wasn't working. We contacted them to come out to fix and show us how it worked with the timers, since we never got any instruction. They charged us just for coming to the door, and then when we tried to ask questions about setting the timer ourselves the Danny Yates Rep wouldn't show us, told us it was done automatically. Now we have another issue with the clocks changing no idea how to set it up. But they will come out for another charge. Customer service is horrible, they don't want to talk to you or help without charging. Maybe if they did the complete and correct job in the first place we wouldn't have to be contacting them to help. Finding an new landscape design company that might like to be helpful. read more

REALLY nice plants but the one lady who seemed to be IN CHARGE....VERY RUDE! I returned the next day after looking at trees the day before to purchase and I needed help to put a LARGE tree on my truck and asked for help...she simple said NO. NO? We planned to buy several other shrubs, etc. maybe she wanted us to buy WAY more so no help for just a $200 tree???? NEVER AGAIN. The staff who work outside are fantastic and super helpful. The only thing stopping me from giving them 5 stars is the woman who works in the office. She needs some customer service training. I've had several interactions with her and had she been rude on just one occasion I would have let it go but she was rude every time I spoke to her. It's unfortunate that someone who is customer facing is not customer focused. We will continue to shop there but I hope I never have to deal with her in the office again. read more

We just moved to Cape Coral and we are looking for landscaping assistance. for a home We are purchasing. This property is without trees and sparse shrubs. One of the ladies came out to great us and gave a run down of where items were located and specials that they were running. All the items are priced and labels available so that you know what you are interested in. We then asked about other services and gained the information that we needed. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. At the moment 4 stars as we still need to complete the purchase of our home and then we will return for services. ZERO STARS! We built a new home and our builder uses this company. I think if they knew how bad their service really was they might reconsider giving them any business at all. We flew down to meet with Donna to decide on our landscaping plan. She showed up completely unprepared, did not have our correct plan on paper, had no idea what the budget was. We had to do her job for her, had to call out builder, bother them while standing in the road to ask them the info that she should have had ready to go. Initial meeting was completely disappointing and not helpful at all. We wasted our time and money on a flight to meet with her. During our following email correspondence, Donna was rude, unhelpful, and in one of her last emails, told me to plan it myself? We do not know what plants to use in this climate? I would never recommend this company to anyone. They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

Being new to South Florida we were not really familiar with tree species here. We wanted a Mango and they were extremely helpful in helping select a variety, advising planting technique and planting medium. Tree is thriving and we are looking forward to shade and fruit. Went for my 1st time today and was greeted by an older woman who was extremely rude. I accidentally went to the end of the nursery where the plants were already sold. I had grabbed one plant and simply asked the woman for some information about it and she was SO RUDE and pissed off that I had touched a plant in that section. I told her it was my first visit and I wasn't sure where I should be and she grabbed the plant from me and stormed off with it. EXCUSE ME LADY.... you need to work on your attitude and customer service. There are too many nurseries to choose from in this area, for me to put up with that. Most of the plants are dead, and was not what we wanted to begin with, the plants that are alive, none are doing well. The hibiscus are green but don't flower. They came out dug a hole and plopped the plants in the ground, no prep or following the planting guild attached TO THE PLANTS! Spent $11,000.00 on redoing my landscaping 2 years ago and thought that was expensive but did it anyway and I called them last week to come check my sprinkler system they said they would need to receive $150.00 before scheduling appointment. I gave them the money and they came on Monday and it just happen to need the timer set. Approximately 3 minutes to set timer, I then called them to ask for a refund or credit as I didn't need anything except to reset timer.....and they said NO because they sent 5 men in the same truck to my house and I needed to pay for all 5 men . I purchased a papaya plant here after calling them and asking if they had any. They told me they had only 1. When I got there, they had 3. The two girls who worked there were not very knowledgeable about fruit trees. They had to google and look things up, which I could have done at home. I felt like I got no help and recommendations. Went to this nursery to by a product for scale on my citrus trees. I was a bit shocked at the price of $33. but went ahead with the purchase. Several days later while in Lowe's I found the exact same product for $15.97. When I went back to try & return the product. Mr Yates flatly refused and after a few words got very belligerent and actually invited me out side in a very threatening manner. Apparently he has never heard the phrase " The customer is always right" I have never in my 69 years have been treated so badly by a commercial business. WORST LANDSCAPING COMPANY EVER!!! This place is a Turn & Burn company. Once they are "done", by their standards, you will no longer matter to them. They don't care to get repeat business. They are Not BBB Accredited good reason. I asked Lori (in the office) and their Irrigation Installation Foreman Adam, "why doesn't my Sprinkler System have "head to head" coverage". They didn't know what I was talking about and assured me that my system had adequate coverage. If you Google "what is head to head coverage" Google will tell you, "The Absolute Number 1 Rule in Spacing is Called "head to head coverage". I was really surprised that this company did NOT know this and does NOT design their systems accordingly. They have refused to correct the design flaw. They did however agree to move some of the other heads that were improperly positioned, but those were just empty promises. Nearly EVERY sprinkler head was 6 inches to 1 foot off from where it should have been set. I had to re-set 25 of my 31 sprinkler heads in order to not have brown patches. Lori told me to mulch those areas not getting watered. Completely RIDICULOUS!!! The New Sod that was laid...Crap Carnival all around. They send a platoon to get it done, but sacrifice any kind of quality while doing it. No wonder it only took 3 hours to do a complete removal and Sod install. I had overlapped pieces everywhere. Right down to overlapping right on the asphalt!!! They did not completely cut out the old sod and left the root system. I found this out while planting trees this weekend. No wonder they didn't have any waste to haul off. They laid the sod on top of the old sod apparently! I had to pull sod back and add top soil to areas that were cut out properly in order to match the grade correctly. This was A Lot of physical labor I had already Paid Them to do! Ridiculous! (I purchased top soil at Lowe's along with the irrigation parts and tools needed, approximately $250) In my 25 years in Construction I have NEVER seen a worse, more incompetent Landscaping Company. If you use this Company after reading this prepare yourself for lots of work!!! You will be the Main Paying Employee!!! read more

We have lived in SWF now for almost a year and I have FINALLY found my "go-to" garden center! This place is amazing! It is organized, clean, and has HANDS DOWN the healthiest plants I have found ANYWHERE! The prices are great, they have plants in all sizes, but the best part is the customer service! The salesperson Lorelle was amazing and made sure we knew EVERYTHING about our purchase. We had a crash course in pruning, planting and fertilizing before we rang up the sale. We have patronized this nursery for years and purchased the majority of our landscaping from them. Sadly we will never purchase again from them. Although eager to assist upon arrival, once questions were asked I was rudely spoken to by the younger associate who could not have been more rude or condescending. Apparently she was an authority on EVERYTHING. Maybe little miss smarty pants needs to be schooled a little longer on how to treat customers. We purchased a pallet of sod and had it delivered. What was delivered was a pile of dirt, with very little grass mixed in. When we called on Saturday, the employee I spoke to was the least bit helpful and told me to call back Monday. After speaking with Laurie on Monday, we learned they do not in any way stand by the product they sell. The only thing Laurie could tell me was "it is what it is and there's nothing I can do about it." She was very rude and showed no interest in resolving the situation. We do not recommend doing business with them. In our attempts to support a local business, we were disappointed and have learned from our mistake. read more
