R banana trees have done well, mango tree ok and r $300 avocado tree was dead within a year. Selection varies dramatically based on time of year and health of the plants varies even more. Sometimes we go and there r lots of things we want. Other times everything looks pretty sad and like it should b on clearance, especially as the weather warms up. I appreciate that they will order in specific plants upon request. In fact, they were the only nursery who was able to successfully order in the specific variety of plant we wanted. Others tried but got in the wrong plant & tried to talk us into it. Riverland 1st got the wrong plant so immediately called us & let us know they were fixing it & they did. Easy, flat walking tour (or you can ride in their golf cart). Jane was great as a tour guide, with a wealth of knowledge and an easygoing style of sharing information. What an incredible amount of plants here ! While their focus is more on edible plants and plantings, there was more than enough for people interested in colorful or blooming plants and trees. Beautiful setting, like walking through a tropical arboretum, lush and tropical. We were given samples of probably a dozen leaves to eat or smell through our tour. It really opened my eyes to trying to plant a few things that I hadn't considered before. There's also a small gift shop with some unique items as well as a nursery/garden center with some of the many plants that we had seen on our tour. Nice variety and decent prices !

I have a small orchid collection. I've ordered from dozens of orchid vendors, from eBay to more…read morereputable ones with a physical address. I test every plant I ever purchase with Agdia ELISA orchid virus tests, which test for CymMV (Cymbidium mosaic virus) and ORSV (Odontoglossum Ring Spot Virus). The tests are expensive, but it's worth it to me to keep a clean collection. Enter Pelican Coast Farms and Jerry Meola. I ordered 6 plants from him across multiple genera, from Rodriguezia to Catasetum to Cycnoches to Phalaenopsis. 4 out of the 6 plants tested positive for ORSV -- which by the way, is the orchid variant of the tobacco mosaic virus, shown to be stable on hard surfaces for years, and very contagious. Very few vendors test their stock for viruses due to the expense, so I'd understand if I get one plant with virus, as it sometimes happened. But two-thirds of the order, over $100 worth is unacceptable. To add insult to injury, Jerry flat out ghosted me after the sale. I've emailed him 3 times, to his personal and business email, and have not gotten a single response in the 3 weeks period. I find that about 10% of the orchids I purchase are virused, and most vendors acknowledge the problem and give me a partial to full refund. Some are more pleasant than others. But this is literally the first time a vendor completely drops off the planet and doesn't even respond or acknowledge a problem. And like I said, I've dealt with dozens of nurseries. Imagine the lack of professionalism and ethics that it takes to distribute highly contagious viruses to expensive orchid collections, and refuse to even acknowledge the problem! You can check my reviews. I don't often give 1 star. I approach businesses with a generous perspective. But when I do, I fully believe that they deserve the full brunt of it. This is quite possibly the worst plant nursery I've ever dealt with, period.

I sadly purchased 4 orchids from these people. My phaius orchid looked like it had been attacked…read moreby a weedeater. The phalaenopsis equestris had 2 obviously rotten leaves. When I removed the potting media there was 1/2 of a viable green root. The rest were mush. The 2 oncidiums were also in poor condition and I was concerned about a possible viral infection. I sent Mr Meola 2 emails with no response. I then called Mr Meola. He said that the phalaenopsis equestris was healthy and green and that the root rot was my fault for repotting too soon. Ummmm no that's not how that works. He proceeded to repeatedly speak over me and dismiss my concerns. I never got to discuss the condition of the other 3 orchids before I just gave up. Buyer beware. Save your money and look elsewhere for healthy plants. These plants look like rescues from the near death rack at a big box. store. Total cost of the pitiful plants attached to this review was $88. A reputable green house would have been appalled if their plants arrived in the condition of those I received.
