Everyone on site was very friendly and helpful. I wound up buying a total of five plants for myself and a friend. They wrapped each one for travel and offered care advice. My first order included a mulberry that arrived with a fungus and scale infestation. I treated it myself with neem oil because I didn't want the hassle of returning it. They offered me a $10 refund, which I accepted. The bigger issue was my second order. The Water Jasmine I received was nothing like what I expected. At first, I thought the main branch had simply broken during shipping. After examining the tree more closely, I discovered that the original main trunk had already been cut off, and the tree was relying on a very thin secondary branch--which was the part that broke during shipping. This was not a healthy or properly developed tree, and certainly not worth the price I paid. When I contacted the seller, they refused to take responsibility. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, they told me I would have to pay to ship the tree back at my own expense, and they would only refund the $25 cost of the tree--not the shipping I paid to receive it. Since their shipping charges increase with each additional plant, I would lose a significant amount of money for a tree that arrived in unacceptable condition. I spent over $250 on additional bonsai because I trusted this company. Instead of standing behind their products or valuing a repeat customer, they chose to make me pay for their mistake. What makes this even more frustrating is that this company charges higher shipping costs with every additional plant you purchase. I already paid inflated shipping to receive the order, and now they expect me to pay again just to return a tree that never should have been shipped in the first place. That's unacceptable. I spent my money on this company because I trusted them. Instead of standing behind their products, they shifted the cost of their mistake onto the customer. If you're buying bonsai online, be aware that the tree you receive may not match your expectations, and if there's a serious issue, don't expect customer service to make it right. Good selection of starter and prepared bonsai trees. I wish the starter trees were organized by type, but I am sure they have their reasons for why it is set up the way it currently is. Pots and supplies are pretty pricy, but makes sense as they all seem to be imported. Staff are always helpful and nice. I visited Wigerts Bonsai for the first time today and was blown away by the selection and service. Owner Andrea worked with me to pick the perfect tree for a first time Bonsai owner. She took the time to ask questions about my environment and skill level to make sure she suggested the proper tree for me. She made sure I had everything I needed from pot to soil to fertilizer. She even gave me a little history about the nursery and the background of the trees. Not only was the selection of trees amazing but the hand painted pottery inside was beyond anything I could have imagined. My mom always wanted a bonsai tree, I figured it would be the perfect Christmas present. This placed popped up in my search. It was a little off the beaten path, but when we pulled up it was so pretty! We didn't know where to begin so we went inside to ask someone for help. The staff was super helpful and provided some great advice as to which species of tree would work best for certain people. They had so many varieties!! Who knew! Wow! Great bonsai nursery deep in Florida. Right off hwy 41 with plenty of parking and plenty of things to see. I was on vacation in Florida (from NC) and was shopping for some trees to take home with me. We pulled in the parking lot and John said greeted us and he answered all my questions and gave me two recommendations (Chinese elm and dawn redwood). I went home with both! Wigert's sure looks good on all the YouTube advertisement info videos, but that turned out to be the only pleasant thing about the whole wigert's experience. Truth be told, I actually bought about 35 bonsai and pre bonsai from Wigert's over a period of a year. Angela immediately got unforgivably testy forever because I dared to simply ASK if they gave a discount to bonsai club members. That went over like a lead balloon, and never happened. Anyway my first order was approximately 10 pre bonsai and 7 of the $100-300 range. It was shipped with NO PEANUT fillet, so it arrived COPLETELY TRASHED beyond belief. Ever tree was smashed to bits, trunks broken in half , roots torn off entire tree, plastic and ceramic pots in sHards - nothing recognizable. I dared to ask for a replacement order after retiring the contents that looked like it had gone through a wood chipper. THat request was NOT well received, and my interactions with Angelo went down the sewer and NEVER did recover despite purchasing another 20 $200-400 finished bonsai trees from wigert's eBay operation. As it turns out, Angela is Very SKILLeD with the camera and is a mega-pro at showing the absolute PERFECT ANGLE of every tree, skillfully disguising all the horrible branch flaws ever so PERFECTLY. Still, I kept buying thinking some day I'll luck out a she'll ship one of those beauty YouTube trees to me. Wrong! Out of all 45 trees, some several hundred dollars each...I ended up with 5 good, possibly very good trees , and 35 trees to chop off at the horribly twisted whirl branch portion on the trunk so I could plant them near the compost pile in the back of my garden to regrow all branches from a trunk stump. There was NO way any of those 35 trees could ever be called a bonsai in the shape I received them. Finally after I attempted to return one additional horribly deformed $400 "bonsai" (a total of TWO returns in 3years) that could never be in a show of any kind other than a circus freak show, Angela BLOCKED me on eBay, and I thought. GREAT! Nothing but third rate trees came my way - for first rate prices along with huge helpings of Agelos attitude all of which turned out to be a blessing of surprise. BYW all those chopped off trunks are finally starting to show some signs ofecomng real bonsai...it only took 7 YEARS. No thank you. I'm sure nursery sales are better because you can choose what you want, but eBay and mail order is just the dumping off point for whatever does not sell in the nursery. Good bye. My first visit to Wigert's was to see what it was all about, have always loved the beauty of bonsai but never visited a bonsai nursery. After several more visits just to enjoy the beauty of the bonsai, a friend and I decided to sign up for a two-day beginner's class. Our instructor Jason was great! He combined show and tell with our workbook to prepare us for our hands-on work with our tree. Snipping off the 3/4's of each leaf seemed harsh, but it is necessary to be able to see all the trunk and branches, plus to develop the tree's canopy. Wiring the branches and gently moving them into position to start creating the tree's shape was satisfying. I am looking forward to next week when we repot our trees. Don't waste your hard earned money on their plants! They don't honor replacements on received damaged plants! They should have warned me that the plant would not survive the heat during shipping! I showed Angela pictures of how I received the plant! She said once it leaves the nursery there's nothing they can do! Then don't ship during heat spells! Wigert's Bonsai nursery has beautiful variety selections of bonsais and all different sizes! I brought my bougainvillea bonsai to get expert advice and care since it was in bad shape. John was super knowledgeable and was very helpful! He saw that the dirt & roots were lifted and some branches have no life left so he put in the wires needed to stabilize the tree and trimmed off the dead branches and added the stones with nutrients on top and advice us on how to care for it! Just received my most recent purchases from Wigert's - 2 ficus neriifolia and a group planting of dwarf black olive (bucida spinosa). The bucida made a very nice little tray planting. Having bought ficus elsewhere in the past, I was expecting small specimens to arrive. I was extremely pleased with my purchase and have two nice trees - one 16" tall with an 18" canopy, the other 14" tall with a 16" canopy, both with 1" trunks, each for $25!!! I never been there but I called and asked about Fukin tea trees and I met over the phone Andrea Wigert she really knows about her products I ask if she could text me pictures and she was very helpful i have bought around 7,000.00 dollars worth of trees and pot soil fertalizers .and i have to tell you she stands by her products every tree comes packaged with penuts and i mean alot so cut a door in the bottom side and they go right in your trash can then you can get the tree easyly with out damage i never have had abroken branch or any thing . she and her husband went to Japan on a buying trip and bought 20,000.00 dollars worth of tokoname pots and now have that many shiped 1 to 2 times a year and there fertalizer is the best they have it made to there standards and it really makes your trees pop if your tring to develop ramafacation.I feel weather your buying a 25.00 tree or a tree of more value they can help you now when buying if you know what your doing you may want to trim your tree when you get it or you can have them do it but realize the fun of this hobby is to learn how to and be a better person and dont feel bad if you kill it we al have in the start of this just ask questions and get in a club or take lessons on line just have fun and be nice there is a expert every were you turn no matter what your hobby is enjoy your tree it needs love to there is no such thing as a bad bonsai just wait and let it grow. read more
