I hesitantly make this review because I selfishly dont want my haircut place to be constantly booked, but this is hands down the best hair cut I've ever gotten. Lisette was amazing. She explained why she was cutting my hair a certain way, which was interesting and cool to hear. It was also obviously that she loved what she did. Haircut was ok enough but when the next day part of my hair really wasn't sitting right and I call back to request a quick fix I'm informed that I need to make an appointment... and that the next one is a week out. An appointment a week out for a next day fix? I assumed when I paid 2x the going rate in this city for a men's haircut one would get the appropriate customer service... I've been to Dapper several times and unless they are booked up when I need a haircut they are my go to. I don't always explain what I want in a haircut well and my hair can be difficult to work with in getting the look I want, but I always walk out of there with a great haircut that I'm happy with, regardless if it was what I "envisioned" - which to me is the most important thing about a regular barber - that I can trust them to do a great job no matter what. Recently went in and had a cut from Selena, I wanted to make a special note that she really took the time to listen to what I wanted and get clarification on what I was looking to do style wise. Then to top it off she nailed it! Got a look I've been trying to get for a few years but either couldn't explain it well or previous barbers just didn't get it quite right. I've been getting my haircut at Dapper for 5 years now, and I can't say I've had a bad experience. Even now living North of the city, I will try to drive to the East Side to have my haircut. Over the years, I've had my haircut by all three of the barbers, and their all great! I personally now get my haircut by Samantha, who's great! If you're looking for an appointment, it's really easy to schedule one online through Facebook. Also the shop....it's classic and I love it The shop is in an old home that's been renovated, but they kept all of the unique aspects of this old home. It definitely an awesome place. read more

If I can't get a hair cut here, I don't get a haircut. This place is absolutely phenomenal and I always leave with a huge smile on my face. The gals that work here are extremely friendly and they all do an amazing job. They also offer a warm towel for your face while they shampoo your hair, which automatically sends one to heaven. So, this barbershop is trash. Im really upset. I paid $45 for a haircut, shampooing, scalp massage, and a straight razor neck shave. The hair cut wasnt that good but even worse than that i paid for the ambiance and to get treated nice at least a little bit. The lady rinsed my hair (no shampooing), she "massaged" my scalp for liked 7 seconds (absolutely no exaggeration, in what world Is that considered a massage???), no warm face towel was given because "it's summer and we don't really do that during the summer" (when I asked her for one she just said the shop didn't have any, Cuz it was summer but then proceeded to use very hot water), there's supposed to be a neck shaving which i took to mean under the chin and in the front of the neck. Nope. Just the tiny piece of the neck at the back/bottom of the hairline. Absolute worst experience I've had at a barber in a long time. I will never go back. And I'm upset that i paid them. I have been to many different barbers, and the haircut I just got from Samantha at Dapper was by far the best. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed 3 minutes after walking in the door, as it felt like she was fully analyzing my hair and getting familiar with it before digging into the haircut. I was a fairly regular Stag customer until I learned they refuse to cut women's hair. I understand they're a men's barbershop, but masculinity comes in many forms; I have several female-identified friends who want an awesome "men's" cut, and to refuse them service is stupid and backward. I wonder if they charge so much because they have to pay the gender police. But, crap. I'd never had better cut than at Stag. I was bummed, until a friend mentioned there was a new barbershop in town. Better yet, this place welcomes anyone who wants to rock a sexy masculine haircut, regardless of your perceived sex. I made an appointment with Autumn (online! total bonus), who was great. I walked in and was greeted immediately, offered a beer, and was made comfortable. She listened to what I wanted and executed it perfectly. This may matter to some, so I'll mention it: she was also a great conversationalist. So, I'll definitely be back. The price is reasonable and it looks as if they've got the cutting chops without the discrimination. read more

Dapper is another great barbershop here in Milwaukee. As I sometimes note: This is on Brady and occasionally parking can be lacking. I am kind of a wanderer when it comes to many things in life. I like to diversify my experiences to mix it up. That is what led me in my search for a good mens barbershop. I found myself wondering what Milwaukee has to offer. I had been a regular at Stag for a few years and found it was time to mix it up. I found Dapper by perusing Yelp. I was surprised to see the lack of reviews here but figured I would give it a chance. I called on a random Saturday to get in last minute because I waited too long. As luck would have it they had a noon opening via cancellation. I was paired with Autumn. I am the kind of guy that really doesn't have too much input when I sit in the chair. I don't have direction to give and I am not too finicky. That might be a challenge to some but I do like to see what the stylist comes up with. Autumn didn't hesitate at my indecisiveness. She took a look and had an idea right away and so it began. She is a friendly down to earth person to chat with. I felt at ease in the entirety of my experience here. That is one of the key elements to a barbershop. It's nice to have the service done but being able to BS naturally is also the key. We were able to have a few laughs as she worked. After is the shampoo and rinse. The hot towel and scalp massage are enough to dissipate any remaining stress from the days events. 5/5 right there. I go in probably looking a little scruffy and worn from the days ordeals but I genuinely come out feeling refreshed and in a positive upbeat mood. Heck, I got a nice haircut to boot. I wasn't sure what to expect going in there but I am certainly glad that I took the chance. Autumn has truly earned my repeat business. read more

First of all the quality of my haircut was excellent. The proprietor and sole "barber," Autumn, gave me exactly what I wanted in a haircut. Following the haircut comes shampooing which is pretty much a head massage, aka fantastic, with a steamed towel over your face. Then a straight razor neck shave caps the whole experience off nicely. Not only is the quality excellent, the overall experience is as good as it gets. Being new to Milwaukee this fall I had no idea where to get a haircut, and I absolutely lucked out stumbling into Dapper. In addition to enjoying complimentary PBR's, coffee, or waters, the feel of the place is awesome. Very accommodating, you'll find 88.9 on the radio and a very friendly barber in Autumn. read more

I've been coming to Dapper since moving to Milwaukee. Initially I had tried several places, but the level of service and attentiveness I received at Dapper ultimately won me over. They used to be on Brady street, but recently moved over to their current address on Farwell. With the new location, the decor and atmosphere have remained the same. When i first started, Autumn used to be my regular barber but due to scheduling difficulties I switched over to Sam. I must say both are exceptional and you wouldn't go wrong with either. Every time I've visited it has been a great experience topped off with an exceptional haircut. It is a bit pricey ($35), but I'm willing to pay based on the quality of service. It would be wise to schedule your appointment as they are usually booked up, and walk-ins can be difficult to obtain. They do have online scheduling which is very convenient, otherwise a phone call will do. read more

Autumn does a great job with my haircuts and I have never once been disappointed. This place need to learn what customer service means. Couple of months ago I made my first appointment with them online. I wasn't able to make it to my appointment so I cancelled it online. They called me and told me that the only way to cancel an appointment is by calling. If that's the case then they need to fix their online booking system. They told me that next time I come in for a haircut I will be charged the $40 cancellation fee. Today I went for my first haircut with them and they insisted that I'll have to pay the $40 cancellation fee from last time. I refused. They told me that I am not allowed to come back then. I really love it here and consistently get a good haircut. They have had a few "barbettes" come and go in the past year but in general are all very capable and know how to cut traditional to more trendy haircuts. The prices are good (better than Groom) for the quality. They don't pressure you to buy products constantly which I appreciate. I felt they were overpriced for the quality of cut. However, I came across Dapper was figured I would try it out. Autumn cut my hair and was very attentive to detail and I could tell she knew what she was doing. I left Dapper with a cut I was very happy with.
