We have been using Dapper Paws for years. Carina H is AMAZING! She grooms all 3 of our Great Danes and our 3 legged Golden. I'm pretty sure the Danes outweigh her and yet she grooms ALL 3 of them (as well as the Golden) every 4th Saturday. She has a great attitude and is a hard worker. Prices are reasonable. We always tip her at least 20%. She is the main reason we return monthly.

Our sweet pup, Bear, is now 11 years old and although he is not really a "dog's dog", he loves people. It warms my heart every time I check-in on the live webcam when he goes to his corner to be by himself, the staff will go out of their way to make sure to connect with him and give him some love- that means so much to me, and more importantly, him. This is consistent no matter which Camp Bow Wow we have had Bear boarded at, and it proves to me that the owners/managers hire people that love animals and genuinely enjoy what they do. Recently, my family moved to Ridgefield, WA and I cannot exaggerate how THRILLED I was when I realized that there was a Camp Bow Wow right around the corner from my house. When scheduling my dog for a daycare appointment, the owner Dan made sure to get our records transferred from our previous Camp Bow Wow in Reno, NV quickly. This made it less stressful for me, as I wanted to ensure that Bear was on the books while I was having some noisy renovation work being done at my home. I was pleased with the drop-off experience, the front staff greeted Bear warmly (he was the newbie that day); very professional and made me happy to leave him with such a great crew for the day. When I picked Bear up I happened to run into Dan in the parking lot and had to thank him again, Bear had a good time but was eager to come home, as always. We are looking forward to booking more daycare and overnight boarding with the Ridgefield, WA Camp Bow Wow location!

Then I heard a lady, who I assume to be the manager here, screaming and berating an employee (who told me they were the only one on staff today for 25 dogs) for not being able to be everywhere at once and for a mistake that management had made with kennel labels. She was loud enough to hear everything, which is scary! 25 dogs for a single person to manage already made me uneasy, so I hung up without trying to schedule a drop off. Talked about it with friend who has boarded their dog here before. Ever since he got a promotion at work and started leaving their dog here, he has become overly aggressive, skittish around both other dogs and people, and has started to refuse to eat the food he has been eating for years. He told me that several times his dog came home with BITE MARKS on him! Bite marks! DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS WITH YOUR DOG!!!! This place is not well run or appropriately managed at all. They don't staff enough people to make sure the dogs are safe and not stressed while out in the yard, they do not treat their employees like people and overload them, and according to my friend, they do not keep their records straight enough to give your dog the correct food that you dropped off for them. The manager doesn't seem to know how fo handle staffing or taking care of their charges at all; only reason this business gets 2 stars is because the staff seem to genuinely care and do their best with what they can reasonably handle.

A groomer you can trust is INVALUABLE. And I guess here is a bonus: a groomer you DOGS trust is paramount. I love our groomer here, she is always willing to answer questions about at home care and give product recommendations. She has taught me a lot about taking care of my dogs in between grooming and makes suggestions about frequency and routine that have helped so much. We also have a fearful chihuahua mix who trusts her to trim his nails and even file them so he has a perfect little pedicure every time. A walk in nail trim is only $8 and SO worth it. The amount of time and stress the nail trim saves both my dog and me is beyond worth it. Also, I YouTubed it and I'm not expressing these guys' anal glands. I'm not. I will pay. They do a great job that makes my dogs comfortable and clean and healthy. I highly recommend.

At other places he has caused a scene with howling and won't sit still. I was a bit confused with the entrance, but thankfully someone was exiting right when I arrived. There is a gate you have to open which then takes you to the front door. Perhaps they could provide clearer signage for a newbie like myself. The groomer (didn't catch her name) was so kind. She approached my dog slowly to first meet him while he warmed up to her, then she took him to the back. Normally, when he gets separated from myself is when he starts to get anxious, but I was amazed to see him stay calm (albeit perhaps still a little nervous). I was able to peek over the window and I could see he was just letting her trim away with no real issues. She also gave my dog a quick paw trim, and overall she did a really great job. I plan to continue to travel up to this location even after we move further away. Her grooming services are basically a la carte. If you do the basics at home she can finish the grooming where the home-groomer may fall short. She also offered $15 for 15 minutes for things like trimming the face, nail and paw trimming, etc. She was really friendly, and my dog left bouncy and happy. Walk-ins welcome. What more could one ask for? In response to the one-star review: the facility did not smell at all like cat pee or anything else that could be considered offensive.

Otis is a standard poodle and we get a German Clip, he has anal gland problems, and very dirty ears (poodles am I right?). Both times we've gone in we were greeted warmly, the shop is small and busy, but very open. There are no secret back rooms at this groomer, they groom in the open with several friendly dogs sometimes wondering around. You'll receive a call a day before your appointment as a reminder, which I appreciate. A full groom for my medium size dog takes about 4 hours, and cost around 150.00. A little above the standard for the area but worth it! Otis is a shy sensitive boy and never cared for grooming. Not here, on only his second time here he walked straight in and went up to a groomer he remembered. At pick up he was happy and calm a good sign to me that they care for the dogs they service. We get a fairly simple poodle cut, clean face and feet, large top knot. He comes home smelling nice (not perfumed), and cut correctly. Not sure what products they use (or if it's just their expertise) but the brush out holds much longer than at other groomers we've gone too. Appointments are a few weeks out but they can put you on a waiting list for cancellations which is helpful for last minute grooming. Over all we are fans and fully trust the groomers to care for our dog!
