My advice if you going to try this grooming. Do NOT schedule with Kaidynn. She not even sorry that she cut both of her lashes that's we been grown for 4 years. Also in her grooming note that her tail should never get cut. It is also short and cut. She didn't apologize, all she said well she moved. I love this grooming place, be picky with who you schedule your dogs with. And please hire high quality people, I am willing to pay for $140 for grooming, ensure the quality also match that $140. Things…read moretend to turn out looking off and we end up having to fix things on our own to the best of our ability- but not here! They have groomed our 2 coton de tulears many times at this point and every time they come out looking great! No weird long looking poodle ears like the people who like to keep the hair on the ears long, we think they end up looking silly when groomers do that. We told them we prefer shorter ears before their first groom and they have always done it without having to be asked ever since! No weird random chunks of longer hair like when groomers don't take the time to make sure everything is around the same length. A HUGE thing for us is neither have come back from Rustic Mutt with razor burn! I can't tell you how many groomers have ended up at bare minimum giving our little guy razor burn even when we warn them he is prone to it. I've even had to pay for urgent vet appointments they've gotten razor burn from other groomers so bad but never here. Our poor boy used to come home from grooming, appointments, totally miserable and would run from carpet to carpeted area and sit down to try to not feel that irritation on his skin. It was awful and no matter how many times I tried to make sure they were careful , it would always result in razor burn. When we moved here I really wasn't looking forward to finding a groomer again because it's hard to find one I trust because of this. Rustic Mutt put me at ease and the people have been very nice. I always appreciate the option to text them as well as I'm not great at keeping up with the phone sometimes. We went through a really stressful, prolonged time in our lives recently and when we were away almost all the time and when we were local it was busy. I was diagnosed with a very painful disease that has no cure, several surgeries, several rounds of IVF, I could go on. This resulted in my husband and my dogs needing to travel all the time, living in hotels for months while getting care and treatment and some of the surgeries. Since it was such a frenetic time we weren't able to get them in for a regularly timed groom and with all the walking and no access to regular bathing for them they ended up quite matted and dirty by the time we were able to get them in for an appointment. I really did try to brush them and keep up as best I could but at a certain point with them not shedding and their hair getting so long I'm ashamed to say I let it get away from me. They went to such great lengths to cut their hair and not give them razor burn, not shave them all the way down, and they left some of the matts on the counter to show us what they had cut off and how bad the matting had gotten. Contrary to what people might assume I was appreciated of the gentle visual chiding, it shows me they care for the animals. There are only 2 reasons I can't give them the 5th star and it is this: 1) as far as I'm aware they still choose to go off of verbal confirmation that an animal has been receiving their vaccinations & such. Almost every other groomer I've ever worked with (and I've had dogs all my life) required confirmation from an animal's veterinarian that they are up to date and while it's a pain in the butt to constantly keep that updated it also makes me feel safer knowing all the other animals they will be around in the establishment are up to date as well. Verbal confirmation is great but unfortunately I'm sure it's easy for some people to lie. I had a problem once when my dogs were around dogs that weren't up to date and it resulted in one of my dogs being hospitalized, a very heart wrenching experience and expensive mistake that could've been avoided. Just to be clear this didn't happen at Rustic Mutt but a previous place, I'm just explaining why the worry had relevance to me. 2) you generally have to schedule pretty far in advance in my experience to get in generally, especially in the summer, which I understand but unfortunately there are times where you really just need to get your dog in and can't wait several months. I wish that they would/were able to hire more people, even just for bathing services so during the times I can't bathe them regularly it would be great if I could rely on them for that.

Our little dog was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer earlier this year and has become very vicious and bites now as a consequence of his cancer when people try to pick him and when he goes for grooming. This has not been an issue for the business owners because they have still been able to groom him and never complain about the extra steps they have to take with him. We really appreciate their patience and understanding. For a complete grooming without a wash (we prefer to bathe him ourselves) it costs $40 with the tip amount included. At other places he has caused a scene with howling and won't sit still. I was a bit confused with the entrance, but thankfully someone was exiting right when I arrived. There is a gate you have to open which then takes you to the front door. Perhaps they could provide clearer signage for a newbie like myself. The groomer (didn't catch her name) was so kind. She approached my dog slowly to first meet him while he warmed up to her, then she took him to the back. Normally, when he gets separated from myself is when he starts to get anxious, but I was amazed to see him stay calm (albeit perhaps still a little nervous). I was able to peek over the window and I could see he was just letting her trim away with no real issues. She also gave my dog a quick paw trim, and overall she did a really great job. I plan to continue to travel up to this location even after we move further away. Her grooming services are basically a la carte. If you do the basics at home she can finish the grooming where the home-groomer may fall short. She also offered $15 for 15 minutes for things like trimming the face, nail and paw trimming, etc. She was really friendly, and my dog left bouncy and happy. Walk-ins welcome. What more could one ask for? In response to the one-star review: the facility did not smell at all like cat pee or anything else that could be considered offensive.

Most groomers have you drop them off for 2 or 3 hours and most of that time is spent caged until they get to them. Dudley is a sweet dog, but he is a farm dog, and his coat and habits are those of a healthy and normal farm dog. In other words, he needed a lot of cleaning up, and grooming was a very new experience for him! However, Maria was able to accomplish an enormous transformation, and in a very reasonable amount of time. Best of all, Dudley finished the experience with an attitude that will predispose him to happy grooming in the future...and he is so fluffy and well-groomed! Everyone at Comb & Collar was extremely nice and professional. Their communications were prompt and timely, and their price was very reasonable for all the work that they did.
