It's an ultra cute stop, I'll give it that. Gives definitely retro, nostalgic vibes. If you live within a 10-minute radius from it or you grew up eating Dari-B, this place would probably be a 4-star place. However, I just don't think it lives up to the hype, especially when I have to drive from Kansas City. The prices are also quite steep, but that seems to be the average these days when compared with places like Andy's. If you've ever been to Snookies Malt Shop in Des Moines, I'd say theirs is better than Dari-B. If you like ice cream, and you're located in KC, I'd recommend Betty Rae's. If you're a soft-serve person, and you're located in KC, I'd recommend Sonic, Costco, Ikea, or McDonald's. read more

Worth the Wedding Detour! Dari-B's is a Must-Stop! We were in Excelsior Springs from KC for a wedding and spotted this adorable ice cream shack, Dari-B's, with a cool vintage neon sign and a line already forming! This place is a staple in our community. A place where you take your kid after football practice or when they did a good job at school. The ice cream is delicious and the prices are decent. Great ice cream!! They have hard and soft serve. The Orange hand squeeze shake is the new orange creamsicle. It is absolutely amazing! They are overly generous with toppings so if its your first time try it out the way it comes before thinking you need "extra fudge or sauce". they give a very good amount. Any fresh fruit offered is truly fresh and prepared on site. The only two complaints i have is the line gets long and service can be very slow and with no smile. Ive been so many times and quite honestly have never been so much as greeted or thanked for coming. silly but a really easy way to tell if your welcome and money is appreciated. read more

The sangria shakes ( nonalcoholic, with a base of lemon/lime juices and creamy soft serve) is a favorite. They also have about a dozen hard dip ice creams. The caramel brownie sundae is a favorite of mine as well. Definitely worth a special trip out of the way to this little ice cream stand. read more

Okay, sue me... I am totally biased! I worked at the Dari-B for over 5 summers while growing up, and I have the dirt on this place. And the dirt is... there is no dirt! The owner and operators, Tom and Belinda, keep this place spotless and their prices as low as they can while delivering an excellent product. (I was also an intern for the county health department and know that they pass inspection with flying colors every year) Please don't ask me, "what is good there..." My truthful response will always be the same, which is "Everything." Still, I do have my favorites... peanut butter fudge delight, cherry mash sundae, a concrete with reese's peanut butter cups.... Great! Now, I am hungry for the Dari-B and stuck here in Paris, France where nothing can even compare to it.... boo hiss! read more

As mentioned by others, it is a staple of the area and an economic way to experiment with different shapes of frozen treats. My personal favorite is the sangria- I've never been anywhere else that sells this. If you've had the alcoholic sangria that you can find at tapas restaurants, its nothing like it.
