Yesterday was the 2nd time in the past couple of months that I have bought cakes at Elvira's for wedding celebrations of coworkers at my office. On both occasions I have received rave reviews from the staff of 15 and have even been told "this is the best cake I've ever had". Today's double layer Mocha Tres Leche was sublime with it's dense spongy interior, creamy frosting and fruit decoration. For $40 we fed 15 and the bride had plenty to take home to share with family and friends. A bargain in my book, and certainly not something that I could create at home. While I was there , I also had lunch. The barbacoa quesadilla was also a bargain for $6. A hot off the grill cheesy and meaty mess - and I mean mess in a good way! Lots of marinated beef chunks cooked in seasonings that took the quesadilla to a whole other dimension. With Thanksgiving week on us, I wanna give thanks to Elvira's for always making me look good at work with your amazing bakery and giving us those amazing and traditional Mexican taqueria style dishes from your kitchen.

So this was the first time that I've ever tried Tres leches as a cake. The flavor of the cake was amazing. My brother got me the mocha Tres leches cake as a birthday gift. And again the flavor was great but the cake itself was a weird texture that I did not enjoy. In my mind I thought that the trace leches liquid would go into a moist dense cake and it just went into a dry cake so it was leaking all over the bottom. I will say that I shared it with my coworkers and they all absolutely loved it so it could also be my experience or lack of experience with Tres leches.

We stopped here today for Mexican bread. They had a large selection and it all looked yummy. We got a few pieces and they were very good. We'll be back.

It's like a bakery combine with a restaurant inside. Who knew?! I love coming here to tried out something new. I had their tres leche cake and their pastries. I like how their sweets are not to sweet like the average American Bakeries. I decided to try their food last night and had their gorditas, elotes, and their tamales. It's all so delicious and their season of their food was spicy yet not too overpowering. They make their food right there so you know it's very authentic. It's very hard to understand the cook/clerk if you don't speak or know spanish well. So brush up on your Spanish skills a little bit and they will be very much helpful to let get what you want. Definitely will go back.

This place is known for their mouth watering cakes, Mexican sweet breads (pan dulce) and freshly homemade tamales. You can either buy slices of their cakes for a quick treat or a whole sheet for special occasions. Their breads come in many flavors and some even have filling in them. It's always best to come early in the morning for their tamales as they do run out pretty fast, but they also have other foods to choose from such as elotes, tortas, burritos, quesadillas, and more.

The cake could have been way better if we'd receive what was ordered. The employee clearly didn't listen.

I'm looking for a tres leches cake where the topping is like swiss meringue buttercream, it's a 1 tier/layer cake, and there is a good amount of milk mixture/sauce filling the container to ensure adequate soakage of the cake. Is Elvira's like that?

    Yes

Does anyone recommend getting cakes here for a quinceañera? Also how big is their biggest cake? Let me know please!!!

Don't know about cake sizes, but got my daughter's 16th birthday cake there- it was beautiful and delicious!!!! Was our first time there and we have been back 2 more times just for the food. We will definitely be going back for other cakes.👍🏼

In the past, we've had their Tres Leches cakes, gelatina on the cup, frozen treats, elote and tortas-- all very well served and yummy.

This spot has a cult following and I'm embarrassed to say how long it took me to get over here to pick up a cone and see what it's all about. I am glad though, that I made the trek and I'm happy to say I've been back a few times since! First thing you'll notice about this spot is that it's a walk up counter, and there is something charming about that. There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk if you want to stay and enjoy your ice cream on the spot. The next thing you'll notice are all of the interesting flavors, my favorite so far has been the banana haze, but I have a feeling they all are good. On hot summer nights there will be a line here, but it's worth the wait and honestly what ice cream spot doesn't have a line in the summer? The folks working are always super nice and willing to answer any questions you have. You'll walk away with a really great sized scoop for the price and one of the best ice creams in KC.

I decided to check out their ice creams this time and started with chocolate flavor. Chocolate ice cream was soooo creamy in texture and very rich in flavor. I loved every bit of it. :-) They also offer a wide variety of unique flavors including cinnamon honey, black sesame, and blueberry lemon cheesecake. I am more excited to try their "bourbon butter pecan" in my next visit to High hopes. High hopes don't look like your usual ice cream shop, they have a couple of tables outside and it doesn't help when it's cold and windy. Be prepared for it. Staffs are usually very good.

Unsure if they had more options in the back, but outside of macaroons, no gf options. They do have tea but it's not advertised on their menu. They have such cute teapots and cups for their tea. I went for the pistachio honey latte (I'm a sucker for pistachio!) and snagged the last veggie quiche of the morning around 11am. Both were absolutely delicious and perfect for breakfast. My friend had the rosewater croissant and a strawberry matcha iced latte--both equally unique and delightful. Despite being a bustling Saturday morning, the staff was incredibly kind and efficient. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a cozy spot no matter the weather. For parking, I'd recommend Westport Road or 40th Street (west of Main) and taking a short walk. Preordering whole quiches, tarts, cookies, cupcakes may require 48 hours' notice. Enchanté is more than just a bakery--it's a little slice of magic in Kansas City. I can't wait to go back and try more seasonal goodies!
