My husband and I just returned from an absolutely wonderful stay at the Darius Inn. While we have been coming to Block Island for the last 10yrs, we decided to stay at the Darius on the recommendation of a friend. So glad we did! The Inn owners, Becca and Christy are warm & welcoming, their Inn follows suit. It is clear they have spent a great deal of time and effort into every detail of their Inn. They make their guests feel right at home! If you have ever stayed on Block Island, you know the inns are old, the rooms are small, the floors are creaky, sometimes have inadequate or no air conditioning and (okay, maybe some are even haunted?) The Darius has done an amazing job of taking all the charming qualities of a historic Inn but making the rooms super comfortable by modern standards. Comfortable beds, comfortable pillows, fluffy towels, a very quiet, yet efficient air conditioner, soap that smells ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! They have thought of everything. A library of books and games, a (very clean) communal fridge so you can keep items cold but don't lose space in your room, a lovely lawn with flower gardens, outdoor eating space, grill, beach chairs and towels, which are, get this, COMPLIMENTARY. Now, let's talk PC (Post-Covid) reality of traveling. It's scary, but they've got it handled. First off, our room was spotless! More so, I commend the Inn keepers on finding a way to manage all of the things that make their Inn special in this new environment. They detail all of their protocols online with a request to read prior to arrival, and we observed these practices in action. The owners and staff are clearly taking precautions seriously, and I think everyone can appreciate that reassurance right now. For example: They serve their absolutely delicious (healthy) breakfast in a "To Go" fashion, so each item is served in the most adorable individual tupperware with a lid. (No one's breathing on your breakfast) and you can eat in the comfort of your own room or safely outdoors. The breakfast changed daily and EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD! All in all, we had a truly amazing stay. We are thankful for the hospitality and can't wait to return! read more

Absolutely perfect. The Darius is our home away from home while on BI. There is not a single thing we'd change about our experiences here. Here's why... - The owners - two sisters - are some of the most lovely people you can encounter. They work incredibly hard to run an amazing inn and it shows. - First floor suites are charmingly decorated, spacious, and dog friendly. The front patios are great for people watching (especially for our pups!) - Breakfast is all homemade and stellar. There's always a frittata and a breakfast salad, plus great coffee, which is a perfect way to start the day. - The grounds are beautiful, filled with wildflowers and plenty of places to hang out. - The location could not be more convenient. You're right in the middle of town and can walk to everything...the ferry, the beach, restaurants, etc. But if you chose to bring a car, there's parking. Highly recommended. read more

Pictures may speak a thousand words, but that is still not enough to explain the idyllic Darius Inn. It is comfy, yet refined...the owners are friendly, yet not intrusive, you are close enough to town, yet you don't feel like you are in the middle of a frenzy! This was our first time on Block Island and the ideas and suggestions given by Christy and Becca were spot on. People and puppy watching on the front porch kept us occupied from AM until midnight! When we wanted to walk to the beach, the entrance was literally across the street. It is close enough to walk to any shop that you wanted, as well as almost all of the restaurants. There is a kitchen with stove, microwave, glasses, refrigerator.....and a little nook to enjoy your breakfast. Two super cute bedrooms, a bathroom with a great shower, and a backyard complete with Adirondack chairs and loungers really added to our stay. The inn has a few dog friendly rooms, which allowed us to bring our rescue fur baby. The fact that the rooms have individual entrances and private porches was definitely a plus. Couldn't wait to vacation on Block Island June 20/20 unfortunately we chose the wrong B&B Darius. If you have pets and children the Darius might satisfy. When I booked I asked for a quaint quiet romantic type room. Our room was noisy for the 5 nights of our stay. Covid I'm sure was challenging for the owners but I had to ask for clean towels after 3 days I think they should have been given without asking. I'll end this review with Block Island is an amazingly beautiful experience. Please research before booking a 5 night stay. Wish we would have left & gone to another B&B read more

This place was by far one of the cutest, nicest places I've ever had a chance to visit/stay. First the girls who run the inn are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our check in wasn't until 3pm but we got there at 10am. They let you store your luggage there until you can check in and also when you leave so you don't have to lug it all around the island. We were also there for a bachelorette party and while we didnt get the 'bachelorette' package they still hung very cute signs for us for the bride. They have a happy hour each day with homemade dips and wines and they also made the most delicious breakfasts every morning. They offer towels and beach chairs to use and are always available for any issues. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone going to block island and want an awesome experience. read more

We've been coming to B.I. For 30 years, and have stayed at most of the hotels; several B&Bs, and even rented houses for two weeks at a time. The last two years we rented a large, new house which slept 10, so we have sampled just about every form of hospitality the island offers. The Darius Inn is our new favorite, and we will definitely stay here again. Christa and Becca are wonderful hosts. They have put a lot of love and care into creating this new incarnation of the Darius, and they have succeeded in creating a friendly, clean, charming and welcoming environment. We absolutely love this place - from the central location to the second story porch; from the tasty breakfasts to the lovely happy hour - and all of it comes together with a stylish, young vibe. This place is a hidden gem. Right next door to the package store, and grocery store and just about everywhere else you would want to go on block island. I rented a room with a bathroom , but not a suite ( room 25). It is very clean, however very small. It has everything you need - full bathroom, awesome air conditioning ( which is rare on the island ) a bed and satellite TV. The downside of the room is that it is small and looks like they hurried the renovation and skipped some details that could have made it even better. Everything is painted ( even wood floors), and the paint looks like it was done in a huge hurry. I saw another review complaining about pincher bugs, which I did not even see one of or could imagine being in this inn. The owners are always around and doing something to improve the place. I saw them pulling weeds at around 10 pm!! Anyway, great place - will be coming back. read more

I just got back home from an amazing weekend at the Darius! I had my sisters 29th birthday and bachelorette party and we stayed at this hotel. What amazing people! The two sisters that own the place are wonderful. Helpful, nice, sweet and accommodating. The weather was absolutely perfect and we had the best time. We stayed in Suite One which was prime location! Perfect for walking to the beach, dinner, liquor store and ferry. I can not think of one complaint!!! Every day there was an hour of happy hour in the backyard of the hotel, along with a breakfast every morning. This is the cutest place in Block Island. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone and everyone!!! This place is fantastic. We stayed for the weekend for my sister's bachelorette, and had the best time. The ladies that own this were so welcoming and accommodating, (very close to the ferry), and had a delicious and fresh breakfast for us every morning. It would be a missed opportunity if you don't stay here! It is an amazing place - with amazing hosts! We rented out Suite 1 and 2 for a bachelorette weekend away with eight girls. Besides being quite possibly the cutest place on Block Island, the owners took such great care of us. Our rooms were perfect - we had plenty of space for everyone to sleeps, kitchenettes to store our snacks and drinks, and the best front porches on the island. Not to mention that the beach was literally 200 yards away. From delicious breakfast every morning, and a happy hour every evening, we were constantly impressed with the service and quality of The Darius Inn. They even, to our surprise, put up bachelorette party decorations and made bachelorette tote bags for everyone in our party! My husband and I recently came to Block Island for our Anniversary and I am SO glad we stayed at The Darius! Christy and Becca have done such an incredible job with the Inn and are wonderful hosts. The location is just perfect, a few minutes walk from the Ferry, close to shops restaurants, beaches, and bike/moped rentals. Our room was great. We had a full size bed and our own bathroom. Two windows to let lots of natural light and a breeze in. Some of my favorite things about The Darius that really set them apart from just any old inn: Happy hour every night with wine and the most delicious homemade snacks (like curry hummus YUM!). Coffee & Cold Brew is available all day! Breakfast is included and is absolutely declicious with homemade fritatas, banana bread, fruit, etc. Tons of great books to skim through while relaxing in the back yard or on the upstairs porch. A common area fridge to store some food/drink/snacks. We will absolutely choose The Darius any time we return to Block Island. Becca and Christy are such great hosts, gave us great tips on things to do, and have created the sweetest most charming little inn that I've ever stayed in! read more

The Darius Inn is amazing and was perfect for the experience we wanted on Block Island. It doesn't feel like one of the big touristy hotels or inns. Instead, it feels like you are sharing an awesome beach house with a group of friends. The sisters (Becca and Christy) who run the inn are so friendly and thought of every detail. I could go on and on with the perks of this place, but to name a few (or several :)- the rooms are bright and creatively decorated, everything is clean, they lend beach chairs and towels, there is always water out with fresh mint and coffee, the breakfast that's included is delicious, healthy and fresh, there is a complimentary daily happy hour with a snack, an awesome upstairs porch for reading or relaxing, discounted bike vouchers, and etc etc. One thing I noticed was that Wi-Fi didn't work in our room, but it did work right outside the inn, and to be honest, I didn't care because I didn't want to be on Wi-Fi anyway while on vacation! The location of the Darius is PERFECT. Right by the downtown and ferry, but tucked around a corner so it is never too loud at night. Directly across the street from the beach. I have stayed at other places on the island, and the Darius is by FAR the best. When I return to Block Island, I will definitely stay here again! We can't wait to go back! read more

This place deserves an extremely effusive review. First off, the women that run the inn are super friendly, laid back, and helpful. They know and love the island, and are eager to share their good juju and knowledge with all of their guests. The structure itself is interesting, eclectic, and full of character. The rooms are all a little bit different, and it almost feels like visiting your kooky aunt's beach house. The coffee in the morning is exceptional, and it's a one minute walk to the beach (right across the street, and they provide chairs and beach towels). Such a fun spot; a real treasure. read more

Just back from Block Island and our stay at the Darius Inn. The staff and accommodations were great. We had a shared bath (booked late) and it worked out fine. Our host were great and very accommodating. Just ask if you have questions and they'll try to help. They have added their taste to almost every place that we looked. Its very whimsical and compliments the entire flavor of the Island and our stay. Breakfast was very good and most things made it their cubby-hole kitchen. Added bonus was a happy hour at 5PM. It was a great way to meet other guess and compare notes on places to eat and play. The room was small but from others we've seen on the Island, they all are. Its an old Inn from the 1900's. But, it was air conditioned with satellite TV which would have been good if the weather wasn't too great. If there was a down side it wasn't much of one. The Internet on the Island is really spotty. The WIFI signal in our room was non-existence but you could move to the common ares where it was fine. 3G signal on the cell worked without fail. We've already started to plan another get-away with a larger group. The objective is to rent out the top half of the building for the weekend. Christy and Becca thought of every detail; from the comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated rooms and suites, to the healthy and delicious breakfast each morning, and happy hour each evening. My family and I have been visiting Block Island for many years and are annual extended stay visitors at the Darius Inn. We stayed there before the new owners purchased it and wow-what a difference! The innkeepers have put so much love and care into this place and it shows. Between the delicious -and healthy- breakfasts, happy hours, and just all-around uniqueness of this place, we would never stay anywhere else. Stayed here for the first time on a last-minute Labor Day weekend trip three years ago and would never stay anywhere else! Becca and Christy make you feel like you're their favorite guest whenever and for however long you stay with them. They go way above and beyond the expectation of what innkeepers do, from making delicious, homemade breakfasts from scratch, to offering laundry, babysitting, and dog-sitting services, to happy hour with tasty treats every evening. They even found us a room for an extra night when we missed the last ferry! Their quaint inn has individually appointed rooms upstairs and dog-friendly suites downstairs. They offer towels and chairs for the beach (which is right across the street), and they have a back yard filled with Adirondack chairs, chaise lounges, and picnic tables for relaxing, reading, and socializing when you're not at the beach. They are also within walking distance of everything: restaurants, bars, the grocery store, the ferry, and Old Harbor shopping. I wish I could stay here all summer every summer! read more
