What a wonderful and magical spot to stay while in the Newport area! Right near the mansions, off the cliff walk and peaceful and quiet. The turner suite was cozy and had an amazing view and tub. We visited for my birthday and the staff were all fantastic. Snacks at all times and a wine hour make for great extras. Will be back for sure!

Stayed for a cold winter weekend in February to get away. This is one of those reviews I hesitate to write because I don't want to let the cat out of the bag but we had a great experience. There are surely some nice places to stay in Newport but we wanted something a bit more eclectic and unique/boutique. When we saw the pictures of the decor and that each room was decorated uniquely, we were sold. We learned when we arrived that this is operated almost like a bed and breakfast with Will and his partner as the hosts. Check-in is available until 8 p.m. and the hosts live on property and can texted or called with any needs after hours. Each morning a cold gourmet breakfast is provided with takeaway items. Everything is homemade and unique. There are no hot items such as breakfast sandwiches but you'll find poached pears, chia seed pudding, fruit cup, hard boiled eggs, etc. The breakfast items were a bit more sugar-centered than we normally eat, it was a nice treat/calorie splurge. The room was spotlessly clean, as were the common areas. Hand sanitizer was located throughout the hotel and most guests wore masks. Little touches like free bottled water, french presses and coffee, and open cabinets for glasswear. They also had a wine hour with free glasses of wine. There is a big stone firepit with chairs which they will turn on when you want to use it. This was nice for a cigar and a glass of wine in the cold. We stayed in the St. George Suite on the 3rd floor. It had some funky purple wallpaper and a mini-library/gas fireplace in the small sitting room area. It felt hip and eclectic and fun. The windows had water views in the distance which was nice. The room also had a Tivoli radio (unfortunately bluetooth connection was impossible) and a wall mounted tv. A skylight above the bed was nice but ensured an early morning wakeup as there was no way we could find to close it. The bathroom shower was amazing. It was literally almost the size of our bedroom with 3 showerheads and a little thing with jets. It had a skylight so lots of natural light and a small bench. The white marble was classy and the water temperature was good. We loved the shower! The only thing we did not like about the bathroom is that it was right next to the bed which could potentially make things awkward soundwise. The doors on the rooms also did not to much to protect the sounds. We could hear others' conversations clearly and were all 'treated' to quite the 2 a.m. lovemaking performance by our hallway neighbors. That was really the only fault we could find with our stay. Overall, if you are looking for unique and classy, this is a great place to stay. The design elements are unique, the hosts are friendly and thoughtful and it's very comfortable and clean. It's one street's walking distance of the famous Cliffwalk (bring a mask, even though outdoors people wear masks in RI). You can drive or uber to downtown quickly and there are a few restaurants that are walkable. I also will commend the property for not charging the ridiculous 'resort fees' or parking fees that many properties charge. I'd rather know the total price upfront vs. being charged $30 for wifi and newspapers and am glad this hotel doesn't do the resort fee nonsense.

I'm the type who NEVER takes a travel vacation. But after last year, I decided 2023 was going to be the year. After doing some research, I decided Cliffside Inn was going to be it. What a great decision! This place was perfect! All the rooms have a name and special details. I stayed in The Loft. Perfectly sized room. Not too big, not too small. The skylights were a particularly nice detail, especially over the large jacuzzi bath. Breakfast is small plate style. If you are craving a full breakfast. The Corner Cafe on Broadway is the perfect spot. Check in was easy, same with checkout. They have beach chairs for you to use and Easton's beach is walking distance away. 10-15 minute walk to the shops on Thames St. The Cliffside Inn was so relaxing and I really loved the room I had. There is also a fire pit and a nice wraparound porch to enjoy your coffee in the morning. I will definitely be returning in 2024.

A beautiful inn!

A beautiful combination of vintage style with modern amenities. There were so many "nice touches" at every turn. We had a room with a jacuzzi tub and fireplace which was wonderful. They did an excellent job combining new - clean and modern - with vintage furniture and decor. Some high points for us... relaxing in the cozy parlor area near a fireplace with soft music playing while reading about Beatrice Turner. Sitting by the fire pit in the front yard. Taking a hot bath in an oversized 2 person tub. Our room was very quiet. The impressive Cliff Walk is right down the street. Pricing was reasonable. Nice job! Highly recommended.

10/10 WOW. Service is fantastic, room is thoroughly clean and dressed to the 9's. We are critical critics and have stayed in some well curated boutiques and The Cliffside is superb. Great customer service and customer experience. The residence is steps from the cliff walk and the hotel will set you up with full beach gear! You can also rent bikes and tootle around the beautiful city. They have a beautiful breakfast spread and a great wine list. Highly recommend!!

Chessboard you can order during wine hour!

We stayed for 2 nights over New Years Eve and New Years Day and had the most amazing experience. The Cliffside Inn staff made sure to make New Years special even during covid-19. We ordered a cheese board during one of the happy hours and it was the best cheese board I've ever had. Worth every penny! Just want to say thank you again to the staff for their amazing hospitality. Best staff in the business. Also, stay in the Turner suite it was spectacular! Looking forward to our next stay at Cliffside!

Outdoor fire pit

My fiancé and I stayed at the Garden suite to celebrate what should have been our wedding but postponed due to covid. The room was amazing! Bed on main floor and a spiral staircase leading downstairs to a library nook, bathroom, hot tub and private outdoor patio. They had a fire pit going outside for guest to enjoy along with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and muffins. The staff was amazing, speedy and very accommodating. They were unable to do a traditional sit down breakfast because of restrictions but they had laid out several delicious breakfast options that guest could take and bring Back to their room. We enjoyed it sitting in the comfy chairs next to the window looking out at the ocean. A The location is excellent! Minutes away from the cliff walk and mansions. Close drive to downtown. We can not wait to come back here again!

Absolutely amazing. My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon, and were surprised our first night with champagne and rose petals in our room. First off, the breakfast and French press coffee is AMAZING. The wine and appetizers from 5-6 are also delicious. The food at this place is just incredible, and if that isn't enough, the cookies they leave in your room at night are SO GOOD. Everyone that works here is so friendly and they come in and tidy up your room daily. We never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, but this experience and been amazing and we will definitely be returning. Highly, highly recommend. The room itself was beautiful as well. And the beds were super comfy!

We have been to this Inn twice and will continue booking getaways here! Bill and Nancy have restored this inn to perfection! Everything is immaculate.....service, guest rooms, gourmet breakfast, wine and hors d'oeuvres. The rooms: We have stayed in the Garden Suite and the Tower Suite. Each room is very luxurious in it's own right! The Garden Suite has 2 gas fireplaces, one in the sleeping area and one in the bath area next to the large whirlpool bath. There is a spiral staircase that leads from the bedroom to the bath area. The floors in the bath area are heated. There is a warming rack for towels. The shower was outstanding. We were unable to enjoy the outdoor private garden area due to it being winter. The Tower Suite was also 2 levels with wonderful whirlpool tub on the bottom level and beautiful bay window on the second level. It was so nice sitting next to the fireplace on the bay window seat viewing the ocean waves rolling into the beach! This is a very bright room due to the beautiful windows in the turret. The Food French Press Coffee in the morning is tops! Breakfast was spectacular each morning. I have celiac disease. The chef was so accommodating. When all of the guests were being served banana foster pancakes.....so was I! They offered gluten free options during wine and hors d'oeuvre hour as well. Bill/Nancy and team know how to make you feel welcome! This Inn is spotless and if you book here you will be SPOT ON! We won't stay anywhere else in Newport! Now....what room shall we choose for next time! Decisions...Decisions!

'The Loft' room - very, very nice!

We've been to quite a few B&Bs and we loved the hospitality, cleanliness & location of this place!…read moreLoved that they allowed guests to store some leftovers in the fridge upstairs with a microwave to heat it up later. Always fresh water available with coffee, tea, hot chocolate & some biscotti. The ONLY issues we've had with this place was we did find some 2 small hair strands in the shower, but overall, the room was still clean. Showering did make us a LITTLE uncomfortable since there wasn't any curtain or covering on top of the window in the bathroom for privacy since we could see the upstairs window of the house next door, hopefully no one was in that house while we stayed since there was construction being done on that house during the day, so I'm assuming the house was currently unoccupied but even when we ONLY had the shower lights on to shower you could still see straight out the window right at that window next door, so if there was someone home they can definitely get "a show" from our shower. Haha. So I HOPE they put a curtain on top for peace of mind for the guests, once the house next door will be occupied. (See pic of bathroom window). Also sometimes guests don't drive & have to take a train in and pack light (we won't always fit umbrellas) so when it rains... if more than just 2 umbrellas could be available for the guests in case it rains, that would be great and that would show extra care. Actually have 2 umbrellas in each room, would be even better because we thought the 2 umbrellas outside the 1st floor room were the guests' umbrellas. Aside from those little things, we'd definitely visit again and stay here, the decent pricing also made us choose this place over the other choices, by the way!

We stayed in room 204, which was perfect for one night. The bed was comfy, room was clean and amenities were everything you could need. Nice to have access to a fridge and microwave since we always pack meals on our trips. Breakfast options are a menu choice the night before and are very good! Benedict for hubs, French toast for me. The only downside was a lack of a counter/ table in the bathroom for toiletries. Would def stay here again! Modernized plumbing...no problem with hot water as is often the case in older b&bs. I believe Tiffany was the chef and her breakfasts are awesome. We had French Toast and Eggs Benedict. The french toast is probably the best I've had. The first morning, we were able to eat on the patio with our dog. The next, it was raining, so they brought breakfast to our room and we were able to eat there. They also offer brandy and snacks in the living room in the evenings and I did enjoy a nightcap on our last night. Check in was contactless via text and codes to get into your room due to covid
