I took my son and his friend on a Sunday night. We didn't pay for VIP and we used a coupon from the website for $5 off. The actors were great and very good at surprising us and being unpredictable. The sets were very creative and spooky. I was especially creeped out by the doll room. If you're looking for something to do with teens or as an older kid family event I highly recommend it. It's definitely a place for families/ people looking for general spooky vibes. The actors were passionate and did a decent job! The Manor needs more actors and (without spoiling anything) should try to expand the size of the inside for after the glow necklace for it to be different! The price point was great I personally didn't see the point of getting VIP we were inside within 10/15mins with general. There was a snack shop with food options & a snow cone truck which was all reasonably priced. The parking was easy to navigate. If you're like me and are a haunt vet searching for the next scariest thing I'd say don't prioritize this one but if you're looking for a fun chill haunt night I'd go here. read more

My husband and I had a great time at the dark manor! It rained on the night that we bought tickets for but we we're still able to enjoy ourselves as it is mostly covered with just a few spots where we got wet. We got there at about 6:40 and only waited maybe 5 minutes to get in with vip admission with the attraction it self lasting about 25 minutes. The only small downside to this haunted house is that there is no control over how fast or slow people go through. What happened to us was that the couple before us went super slow and we tried to give them space but then the people behind us didn't give us space and got super close so we ended up getting stuck in the middle of a group of 6. It not the worst but there are other haunted houses we've been to were the scare actors will block paths to pace things and keep groups together but separate which to me is more enjoyable experience. read more

Was supposed to go on Halloween night, bought my tickets online (5 which was 107 dollars) and there was construction all on the highway to get there. Only One lane was open so could only go 30 mph and I was over 30 mins away. Arrived there at 10:41 and they said it was too late and I couldn't get a refund. It was definitely worth the money and the drive. The line looked long, but went by quickly. The employees were definitely organized with the parking. Easy In easy out. It was a standard haunted house. Absolutely loved it! I don't want to ruin it, but all I will say was one of the guys near the end nearly got me to pee my pants!! It was a decently long one as well. About 30 mins. The reason for the 4 instead of a 5... I wish they would put more time between groups. We had a group of two in front of us and I and my fiance were a group of 2. We caught up pretty quick even though we took our time. Unfortunately, the husband of the group in front of us was announcing things out loud so it was hard to be surprised. Before we knew it...a large group had also caught up to us. I understand they want to let as many people in as they can, but I still feel more space between groups should be given. Also, one of the scare actors broke character to ask my fiance and I a question about the group behind us. Kind of took us out of it for a minute. Little annoying. Additionally, a few of the actors didn't dress up at all. Was a little difficult to tell if they were guests or employees. Felt they could have put in a little effort. This haunted house was pretty average - the most horrifying thing about it was how they use live terrified goats in their haunted house. I am shocked and upset. Walking through the house there are loud sound effects, screams, chainsaws, etc. There are flashing lights, darkness, people coming and going and it must be terrifying for these poor creatures who were locked in a small caged in area with no egress from the people streaming through the haunted house. Think of a dog or cat being put in this situation; how terrified or agitated they would be; it's the same for goats and any other animal. Absolutely awful and unnecessary. read more

I love Halloween. We drove about an hour to get there. At first it seemed like the line wasn't moving at all but then it went quickly. I don't scare too easily but I did once or twice and mostly laughed when people popped up. My friend who is scared of this type of thing was constantly picked on. Ok I have to say I was pretty impressed. This was the 2nd best Haunted House Ive been to in the US. (#1 Terror Behind The Walls - Eastern State Peintentary in Philadelphia, PA). It was very well done. Not all chainsaw and gore.. but genuine creepiness. Brought the 11(Emma) & 13 year old (Alex) after subjecting them to Evil Dead (new one) & The Ring. They asked, we delivered. We called it our "Day of Terror" and they couldn't have been more excited or amped up to go to the Haunted House. Of course once we were in line, they were second guessing their choices.. ha. The best part was watching Alex..He was first and at one point he got so scared when something popped out he dropped to the ground and crab walked backwards. Freakin priceless. I laughed about that until my stomach hurt. So worth the hour drive from Waterbury! read more

I have never seen any animals at this attraction nor has anyone else that has gone with me over the years. I have recently spoken with the people who run Dark Manor and was given confirmation that no animals were ever used at their attraction. I don't get what all the hype was. It wasn't scary. It felt like were was basically walking through a Halloween museum looking at non moving props. Hardly any actors to scare. We did the scream cam price and I cannot wait to get it so we can see our bored faces walking through a building‍. I wish we hadn't driven an hour to get here because it definitely wasn't worth it. We heard a chainsaw person but never saw him, the one part that was somewhat interesting was the Michael Meyers dark area for about 10 seconds. It wasn't worth it unfortunately. Sucks but we tried it because of the ratings really disappointed as it was the last weekend before Halloween and it was a waste. read more

Not impressed at all. Was excited since this was billed as the #1 Haunted House in CT. Definitely isn't. I was not scared at all. Not even once. Drove over an hour for 20ish minutes in this place. The 'actors' are not scary at all, they don't jump out, they don't try to scare you, they just stand there. The Catacombs was the only part that was okay, but just because of the simple fact that it's basement-like. The worst part was that we spent most of our time in the attraction waiting for the group in front of us to go through. (They tell you not to rush, but it's impossible to not catch up to the group in front of you the way they send you in). Waste of $20 and my evening. Should have just gone to the Trail of Terror which is MUCH scarier/longer/and a better time all around!! read more

Literally just left here. This was the SHORTEST haunted house I've EVER been to! $25 for "three different areas" that lasted at most 15 minutes and that's being generous it was really like 11-12 minutes. The jump scares were OK. I'm TERRIFIED of clowns and yet I wasn't scared at all in fact the clown in the room was the most polite clown I ever met he held the door and everything for me i should of said thank you. Next time I'll save the hour drive and drive 10 minutes into Wallingford and go to the Trail of Terror! Never again!! Awesome, Dark Manor is the best haunted house I have ever been to! We drove up all the way from Stamford and it was worth it!! Very scary!! I strongly urge parents not to bring children!! I also would not recommend this to people who suffer from panic attacks or heart conditions. This is really scary I promise!!! The actors are great ( they are not allowed to touch you and you can't touch them)!! You have to go through the entire house and graveyard ( can't run out early)!! My fiance & I went to Dark Manor last night. We were very disappointed. I don't know if it's because I'm older now or what, but my personal opinion, the actors could have been better. I thought they would at least jump out and scare me once without me knowing. I knew it was coming every time,because I seen them standing there as I approached, and then they hurried up and hid in front of me, now how is that going to scare me? The only time I got spooked was the guy that jump out at me as I was entering the house to go pay. I've been to other haunted house that scared me a lot more, they were smaller than Dark Manor, but the actors were excellent. read more

This was certainly an interesting experience. The first major issue was spacing with groups. While I understand the company wanting to get in as many people as possible, the experience isn't as good when you get cramped up between other strangers who choose to point out scares ahead of time or slam into you when they get scared. We were also one of the last groups to get in, but there were more than a few behind us and, because of wait time, we weren't entering until around 11:45. I certainly hope they're paying those actors well if they're keeping them past closing. I almost stepped out of line because I assumed they'd want to close up for the sake of the actors. Secondly, the place was dirty. In the slower moments, I could see visible dirt piled up within the house and the air quality towards the end was awful. I understand wanting a little fog to add to the spookiness, but it felt unnecessary and unhealthy. I was coughing just trying to walk through it. I can't imagine how the employees must feel being down there all night. Not even the fog could dampen the quality of our experience in the basement/end of the house though. The actors were lively, engaging, spirited, and terrifying. Many were very well hidden and others had entire characters and roles that they played out. Other actors in the production were excellent as well, like one woman wearing a red cloak and another playing in an outdoor area with a baby doll. Even the outdoor jumpscare actors were well hidden, like the person wearing the gilly suit and man in the Michael Myers hallway area. Every actor deserved a round of applause. This is one of many halloween attractions I make a point of seeing in October and while I feel the actors are excellent and certain props and animatronics are good, some of the set design feels cheap and the quality feels lacking, especially considering the price of tickets. If the set was kept up with the quality of some of the actors, I'd be giving the place 5 stars. read more

There was lots of scary props and different scenes, and tons of actors jumping out and scaring us the whole time. Great Haunt! I've been there every year for a few years now. New things every year, and always a quality production. This is an attraction/event well worth the time! I see the reviews talking about goats. Weird. As I said, I've been there a bunch of times and never saw anything like that. From the one-after-the-other blast of people noting that, my bet is that it is a phony comment by someone who has an agenda. If you want to see a great Haunt, go to this attraction. The timing was off, the line wasn't bad, but to many people at the same time gave the workers scaring people no time. I wasn't scared as much as i wanted to be. A group of seven and I drove almost two hours from Massachusetts on 10/18/14 because we heard that this place was great. When we got their everything was great, we bought our tickets and went in pretty quick. However everything went down hill fast when we had to stop every two minutes because there were so many people going through the house. You could see the employees pop out and scare the group in front of you and when it became your turn to pass, you knew where they were. When we got to the outside we waited even longer. There was a time where we stood in place for ten minutes because there was a another line of people held up inside the attraction. I started talking to my friends about asking for a refund because what was happening was unacceptable and an employee over heard and rudely told me to walk faster when I clearly couldn't because there was a line of people in front of me, she then rudely asked me "if I wanted to get kicked out". After such a long wait we finally managed to get through the outside portion and into the basement of the house. That part was pretty good, the best part of the entire attraction. Honestly the experience might have been great if they weren't pumping people in every minute just to get as many people in as possible. I would not recommend this place to a friend and definitely will not be returning. read more
