I eat a lot of GoMacro bars and noticed the wrappers have the TerraCycle logo. Decided to create…read morean account on their website after taking a look at it, and recently sent in 100 wrappers. They are known for accepting packaging which is difficult to recycle, e.g., cigarette butts and diapers. Some of the other items they also accept include Taco Bell sauce packets, Brita water filters, Clear Blue Smiles aligners (to realign teeth without braces), Pure Encapsulations vitamin and supplement packaging, SLIQ alcoholic freezer pop plastic tubes, Weleda beauty products. After you create a TerraCycle account, you can then sign up for a company's recycling program; there is no limit as to how many you can join. However, you will be put on a waitlist if a company isn't accepting anyone new. When you're ready to send in your recyclables, you can print a prepaid shipping label and the company whose packaging you're recycling will pay the cost of shipping. Your box can be dropped off at UPS. They do ask you to send in full boxes in order to reduce the transportation carbon footprint. There are also public drop-off points which provide another option for recyclables. TerraCycle gets 4 solid stars. I greatly appreciate what they do and what they stand for. The owner reaching out to many who left google reviews is a meaningful way of showing that customer service matters. Also like that they have contests on their website. However, was a bit disappointed to be placed on a waitlist for Brita water filters. And for my first shipment of GoMacro bar wrappers, I received 40 rewards points, but you need a lot of points in order to redeem them for something.

This company offers an annual cost for services, then claims that it is not an annual contract so…read morethat they can charge for "changes in rates" at their discretion. I was with this company for approximately eight years. Then last year I paid the annual premium, only to have an additional charge two months later and then an additional charge a month after that. (Approximately $160). After contacting the Republic several times I was able to speak to a "manager" who agreed to credit me the additional charges. They never did. Then this year I paid the annual premium ($75 more than the previous year) in September and then received notice of an additional charge of $67 for December. When I went to cancel my "services", they informed me that I could not cancel until the end of the month and I would be charged until then.

I am a residential customer in Lisle, IL 60532. I needed to dispose of some carpet and called…read moreRepublic Services customer service on Tuesday, 12/18, a day before our scheduled pickup (Wednesday) for advice on how to dispose of carpet because it was my first time doing so. The representative, named Barbie, said the carpet did not need to be cut to any certain length and that a special pickup did not need to be scheduled in my area. I asked her how many stickers I needed and she replied "none". I said are you sure, and she said "yes". I rolled up the carpet and put it out in our parkway next to our trash can the night before our scheduled pickup. Sure enough, when I came home from work the next day our trash cans were emptied but the carpet was still there. I called Republic again the next morning (Thursday) and the customer service representative assured me I didn't need stickers because I had an account and that she would put a ticket in with the operations supervisor to have it picked up. When I came home from work that day the carpet was still there. I called customer service again that Thursday and this time was transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor said the carpet was not picked up because I needed to apply 2 stickers per item. I said this is not what I was advised by two of your reps and she said she would pull the call recordings. She then acknowledged her team gave me bad information and she would address that on her end but would not be able to send a truck to pick it up before the weekend and that I would need to apply two stickers per item the following week. It happened to also rain that Thursday. In the end I followed Republic's guidance, but had to carry wet carpet back to my garage so I wouldn't have an eyesore as visitors were coming to our house the weekend before Christmas. Also, this carpet was from our nursery as my wife is 8 months pregnant and we are getting new carpet for our 1st child's nursery. I would expect a company this large would own up to their mistakes and make it right, especially around Christmas, but it is apparent the folks in Arizona only care about their profits and not their customers in Illinois.
