thank you to Janni V for their review of DART container recycling…read more I just found out I can't throw my to-go boxes into my recycling and have to bring it to Dart. was given a link to read about it, but there was no real info....where, hours, how/what to do. There was an address that I had to mapquest/google to see where, futher than I thought it was. Hours? I guess it's 24/7, bins? what to do? can I bag up all my styrofoam/to go boxes and toss the bag in? do I have to throw each item separately, If you want us to recycle effectively, provide us details of what to do, otherwise I will just throw it in my regular garbage. :(

You probably know Dart Container Corporation, even if you don't think you do. If you've eaten…read moreanything that was ever packed in styrofoam (such as any carry-out food or leftovers you've taken home from a restaurant), or had many cold or hot beverages from a restaurant, you've probably used a Dart container. What not everyone knows is that Dart doesn't just manufacture all sorts of #6 styrofoam containers. Dart also offers a 24/7 public dropoff recycling facility outside its headquarters in North Aurora. While most communities in the area now offer recycling services along with regular garbage pickup, most communities don't have the capacity to recycle #6 styrofoam (and some plastic). Not sure if what you have in your hand is #6? Check the bottom of the container. You should see a triangle made of 3 arrows that are going around it. In the middle, there will be a number. Plastics (and styrofoam) are labeled 1 through 6, to designate what type of plastic/styrofoam it is. For more information on the codes and their meanings, check out this slideshow: http://www.thedailygreen.com/green-homes/latest/recycling-symbols-plastics-460321#slide-1 At any rate, while I do wish that my local township offered recycling of #6 items, I'm glad Dart is stepping up and taking responsibility to recycle this stuff. More people need to know this is here, which is why I've added this business to Yelp. It's pretty simple. You drive up to the 24/7 bins and toss styrofoam from electronics in one side, and styrofoam from foodservice applications in the other. Just follow the signs and you'll be fine. No muss, no fuss. In our house, we store up our styrofoam in a big bin and take a trip over to Dart when it gets full. Bonus: then we find somewhere cool to check out for lunch, since Dart is about 45 minutes away. Nice! :)

So I had to ask myself: Do you have excessive clutter in your home? *Ugh, yes. But it's temporary Is clutter preventing you from inviting someone over or you to do something? *YES! My poor car has feelings too and now that it has a covered home I can't even put it in it : ( Would it make you feel better if you could discard these items to make a clearer area? *Indeed, but what's a girl to do? Oh this was going downhill fast. Those ridiculous boxes, I didn't want to be that trashy girl next door that everyone whispers about when they snag their mail so something needed to be done. Pronto. Once again the Chamber of Commerce saved the day and pointed me in the direction of the recycling center. It's centrally located, and close to where I live so I stopped at the information desk and asked where the drop off was. A woman inside smiled and told me that outside, near the gas pumps is the drop off. I pulled up slowly thinking it was just me and I could do what I had to do, but there is surveillance and an employee there for assistance. I'm not one to let others do all of the work for me and my junk so I helped out, who knows if that's the rules. He was funny about it and told me I was strong. It was cardboard, the weight was nothing! Within minutes my car was cleared, my garage free of cluttered recyclable waste and it was done. All for FREE. You can't beat that. Well that was fun, and I'm glad to know that I am NOT part of the 2% of the population that are hoarders. Phew!

This company offers an annual cost for services, then claims that it is not an annual contract so…read morethat they can charge for "changes in rates" at their discretion. I was with this company for approximately eight years. Then last year I paid the annual premium, only to have an additional charge two months later and then an additional charge a month after that. (Approximately $160). After contacting the Republic several times I was able to speak to a "manager" who agreed to credit me the additional charges. They never did. Then this year I paid the annual premium ($75 more than the previous year) in September and then received notice of an additional charge of $67 for December. When I went to cancel my "services", they informed me that I could not cancel until the end of the month and I would be charged until then.

I am a residential customer in Lisle, IL 60532. I needed to dispose of some carpet and called…read moreRepublic Services customer service on Tuesday, 12/18, a day before our scheduled pickup (Wednesday) for advice on how to dispose of carpet because it was my first time doing so. The representative, named Barbie, said the carpet did not need to be cut to any certain length and that a special pickup did not need to be scheduled in my area. I asked her how many stickers I needed and she replied "none". I said are you sure, and she said "yes". I rolled up the carpet and put it out in our parkway next to our trash can the night before our scheduled pickup. Sure enough, when I came home from work the next day our trash cans were emptied but the carpet was still there. I called Republic again the next morning (Thursday) and the customer service representative assured me I didn't need stickers because I had an account and that she would put a ticket in with the operations supervisor to have it picked up. When I came home from work that day the carpet was still there. I called customer service again that Thursday and this time was transferred to a supervisor. The supervisor said the carpet was not picked up because I needed to apply 2 stickers per item. I said this is not what I was advised by two of your reps and she said she would pull the call recordings. She then acknowledged her team gave me bad information and she would address that on her end but would not be able to send a truck to pick it up before the weekend and that I would need to apply two stickers per item the following week. It happened to also rain that Thursday. In the end I followed Republic's guidance, but had to carry wet carpet back to my garage so I wouldn't have an eyesore as visitors were coming to our house the weekend before Christmas. Also, this carpet was from our nursery as my wife is 8 months pregnant and we are getting new carpet for our 1st child's nursery. I would expect a company this large would own up to their mistakes and make it right, especially around Christmas, but it is apparent the folks in Arizona only care about their profits and not their customers in Illinois.
