I am so glad that I found Data-Recovery of San Antonio, Kevin saved me over $1,200! My wife was in the middle of backing up her photos from her iphone to our WD Mybook Essential 1TB external hard drive, when my little girl walked by and tripped over the cable causing the hard drive to crash to the tile floor. We were devastated as we quickly found out the hard drive was no longer being recognized by our computer. We tried connecting the drive to another computer, using a different cable, nothing worked. We started doing online searches for data recovery and were amazed at how expensive it was going to be to recover our data. But we knew we had to do it as we had pictures of our 2.5 year old twins from birth until now. We decided to take the drive to Best Buy where we agreed to send the drive to their data recovery team in Kentucky. They told me it is most likely going to cost $1,600 to recover the data if they have to repair mechanical parts. Not realizing that I had legitimate local options I agreed to have the services rendered and payment pending results and actual work done to recover the drive. About 3 weeks later I am contacted by Best Buys Geek Squad and they said they were able to recover all of the data. I began asking questions of what they had to do to recover the drive. They were very reluctant to share this information, so I had to take it all the way up to the supervisor level. After learning that my drive had no mechanical problems and my drive only had bad sectors, I argued these services were in no way worth $1,600. I told them I could probably get this done for a lot less money, they eventually agreed with me and refunded my money and they kept the data they recovered. I then found Altex Computers and Electronics in San Antonio. These guys were really nice but absolutely incompetent. They said they could recover my data for $200, about two days later they called me and said my data was ready. I went to go pick up the data, and as I was doing the check through to make sure my data was there, I was upset to learn that none of this was my data. They had inadvertently put data from another person's drive on my drive. Talk about a breach of privacy! They then took another two days to try and figure out what happened. To make a long story short they could not recover my data, they said it was way too advanced for them. Then I finally found Kevin of Data Recovery of San Antonio! He told me he would only charge me $395 to recover the drive, which was far better than the $1,600 Best Buy was trying to get from me. I dropped my external hard drive off to Kevin on a Friday afternoon close to closing time. Kevin told me my drive would be ready some time the following week. The thing I respect about Kevin, is that he "under promised" but over delivered. What I mean by this is, on Monday Kevin sent me an email that my drive was ready and that he was able to recover all of the data. I was so happy to learn that he was able to get all of my data for a quarter of the cost I would have paid to Best Buy and with such a quick turnaround time. I came into Kevin's office to review the files he recovered and sure enough everything was there, photos, documents, spreadsheets, everything! I was so excited that all of our photos of our twins for the past 2.5 years were saved along with everything else! Kevin at data recovery San Antonio is a miracle worker!!! Our video camera quit working and we sent it off to Illinois to be fixed in the hopes that we would be able to recover the past 6 years of video off the hard drive. The most important videos were from the last year which were our only child's entire first year and irreplaceable. The shop in Illinois fixed the camera but could not retrieve the videos off the hard drive. They told me it was a lost cause unless I wanted to spend thousands for data recovery. Kevin literally saved my business. One of my project hard drives failed. This hard drive housed over $60,000 in projects.
