I'm not one to leave negative reviews so I really didn't want to leave one, but I feel that it's necessary. I'll start off by saying that everyone at Datwyler's office is very kind and I had a pleasant experience during my consultation. With that being said, I reached out to them later down the line after my consultation to move forward with getting a plan in motion for me. I called and was told that they would give my notes to Dr. Datwyler and someone would get back to me. I called back 3 times within a 2 week period waiting for a response and each time was told that they were waiting for Dr. Datwyler to review the notes and would get back to me. Never received a call back. I understand that my dental situation is complex, but I feel like I was not a priority for them. If they aren't interested in taking me on as a patient, I would respect them if they told me that, so I could move on and find another place to work with. It is frustrating to have your time wasted and still going on week 3, not receive a call back. read more

The staff and Dr Datwyler were exceptional. They were always on time, pleasant and helpful. As an adult (in my 60's) finally getting around to having my teeth straightened, I was nervous about the process. It was amazing to watch the changes as adjustments were made. Dr. Datwyler and the entire staff (front and back) made the entire experience (30 months) so easy! I held off for a VERY LONG TIME to have this done due to overall nervousness. Now that they are off...can't believe I didn't do it earlier. The front office was always friendly/ funny and flexible with my schedule. If you are looking for a fantastic orthodontist with a great team, look no further than Dr. Datwyler. As an adult, I was apprehensive about getting a consultation because, over the years, I was told by two other orthodontists that my bite was terrible and I would need surgery to fix it. Braces were not in my future, and I lived unhappily with my smile for over two decades. Fast forward several years, and my daughter had a specialized case that Dr. Datwyler successfully treated. Seeing his great work, it couldn't hurt to hear what he had to say about my teeth. After my consultation, Dr. Datwyler explained what I had going on and that he could treat me through modern brackets and bands. I was in disbelief, but knowing how awesome he was with my daughter's braces, I nervously decided to move forward. I wore my bands religiously for two years and eight months. You can see improvement when covered in brackets and bands, but nothing like once everything is finally removed. What I saw was a complete transformation in my smile. I immediately shed all those years of insecurity and was left speechless. I thought about the thousands of pictures where I never fully smiled. Although embarrassing to say, I must have looked at my teeth 100 times on my way home that day. My daughter had issues with her bite and we were told by several orthodontist the way they would remedy it was by pulling adult teeth. Dr. Datwyler was able to create a beautiful smile for her without removing any permanent teeth! I love this place, so happy I brought my daughter here. The people are AWESOME. So accommodating when something comes up with an appointment. They and helpful, and pleasant with great attitudes. Cannot say enough about them. I brought my daughter here early on a Friday morning not knowing they are closed on Fridays. Two of the ladies that work here were inside and one of them came and opened the door for us. I explained my daughter had a wire poking her cheek and they told us to come in and take a seat. It's been almost three years of receiving the best orthodontic services at Datwyler Orthodontics. Every single staff member always put me at ease and made me feel important. I always felt like I was in great hands from the moment I came in, to when the assistants worked on my braces, until Dr. Datwyler gave his final check. Since my teeth were a challenge, I often had to get scheduled for last minute appointments and they were always able to accommodate and help me. Absolutely incredible experience! I went in to be seen as a candidate for braces (2nd time) and the staff at Dr. Datwyler including Dr. D himself will just go above and beyond for you. Total customer care. I spoke with Jessica who initially scheduled my consultation appointment and she was so friendly and was able to get me an appointment literally for the next day. Jessica introduced herself immediately and she made my experience very comforting and made my initial impression top tier. Deanna did my X-rays and she was great! She did not rush me at any point and she was very thorough with her work making sure all images were captured. She also helped with my paperwork and worked around what best suited me as far as treatment. She answered all of my questions and was extremely helpful!! Big shoutout to Katie who prepped my teeth for my braces to be put on!!! (yes, I was able to get them on the same day even with their busy schedule). Katie was so gentle and kept asking about my comfort level to make sure nothing was hurting or poking me and she was super attentive to my needs! Katie is phenomenal. I was lucky to have found Dr. Datwyler. He and his team are very professional and always welcoming. Every person on his staff was nice to meet every time I went in, and Dr. Datwyler himself went above and beyond to accommodate me with extra appointments and work when I asked. When my son was unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumor, the pediatric neurosurgeon asked if we could get his braces removed to enable the most accurate imaging prior to emergency surgery. One phone call and Dr. Datwyler and Dr. Jen were waiting at the hospital when my son's ambulance arrived around 6:00 p.m. They were at the Pediatric ICU about 2 they were allowed upstairs to remove his braces. Super annoyed with their front desk customer service skills! It's like my time is not important. I too am a small business owner, so when I take time off of work to attend to personal medical appointments then I don't earn a living. No such thing as vacation pay or sick pay when you're self employed. You're either working or your not! But who cares if they throw off an hour of your day, right? I asked that if their was an issue with insurance coverage (during the 1st of 3 intake phone calls about the appointment) that I be notified ahead of time. After I showed up, and after 3 phone calls, and after their intake forms were completed, THEN someone bother to casually mention that my insurance only covered up to age 18 and the service would be out of pocket! I'm like, "why did no one call me Cindy?" And she mentions "no one put that information in the notes." Well that was YOU Cindy! I spoke with you over the phone and specifically requested you call me prior to the appointment if their was an issue with insurance coverage (that you said your office would verify). I am really glad I found this orthodontist up in El Dorado hills. Great place to take your kids if they are going to need braces. Dr. Datwyler and his wife are running an excellent business that truly puts kids first. Depending on your situation braces can be pretty expensive but they are willing to work with you on different credit plans and also take many dental insurances. Luckily we have pretty good insurance which helps save a little money. During visits the kids get tokens if they wear their orthodontist shirt and have a good check up. The tokens can be redeemed for prizes , the prizes vary based on how many tokens you have. This definitely makes it more fun for the children as I know mine dread the dentist. I could not be happier that we chose to get our children's braces at Datwyler Orthodontics thanks for the great service! read more

Dr D is professional and honest, which I appreciate. We had several consultations prior to Datwyler and I wasn't happy with any. Dr D is fair and I feel he treats when absolutely necessary.... which I didn't feel was the case with other orthodontists in El Dorado Hills. I have to start by saying the staff is friendly and I'm sure provides quality service and work. Saying that though, this orthodontist was recommended by my dentist and the experience was less than expected. Prior to my visit I spoke with two staff members a total of 3 times and made it very clear what my concerns were and why I was coming in. I advised I had braces years ago and needed an upper permanent/fixed retainer repaired as it became detached from 1 tooth. I got to the office and x rays were taken, I was given a tour of the office, and then spoke with the new patient coordinator, who is one of the individuals I spoke with prior. I again went over my concerns and she advised me that the Orthodontist does not do repair work on other orthodontists work and that he likes to start from scratch. I thought this was odd since they were well aware of my concerns at the time of making the appointment and other phone calls I had prior to my visit. I then met with the Orthodontist who confirmed not only does he not repair work from other Orthodontists, he also does not do fixed retainers on the upper teeth. So not only would he not repair my retainer he also wouldn't replace it unless he replaced it with a traditional retainer. In addition, they proceeded to give me information about invisalign and ways to make my smile more desirable. This was a complete sales pitch and unacceptable that they took x rays and exposed me to unnecessary radiation when they knew darn well from the beginning repairing my retainer was something they would not be able to do for me. Do your research and make your intentions and concerns very clear to this orthodontist if you choose to go there. I wasted over 3 hours to get off work early to visit this office and it could have been completely avoidable. Would not recommend to patients who previously had braces. read more

I rarely take the time to recommend services but have made an exception in the case of Dr. Datwyler and his Ortho practice. We were referred to Dr. D. by some friends with kids of similar ages as our own. At the time, my wife was a huge advocate of braces for our 10yr old, and I was a skeptic, which is generally my nature. In any case, a year later, his teeth are perfect and beautiful. He's been wearing braces that are virtually transparent and invisible, never complained once about discomfort, etc. Last weekend, we watched a slideshow of kid pics from a few years back. All I can say is his teeth were gnarly and now they are perfect. Wow. Really incredible. Didn't even notice how bad they were at the time. Our 1st daughter will start in a month or so.
