As an adult, I was apprehensive about getting a consultation because, over the years, I was told by two other orthodontists that my bite was terrible and I would need surgery to fix it. Braces were not in my future, and I lived unhappily with my smile for over two decades. Fast forward several years, and my daughter had a specialized case that Dr. Datwyler successfully treated. Seeing his great work, it couldn't hurt to hear what he had to say about my teeth. After my consultation, Dr. Datwyler explained what I had going on and that he could treat me through modern brackets and bands. I was in disbelief, but knowing how awesome he was with my daughter's braces, I nervously decided to move forward. I wore my bands religiously for two years and eight months. You can see improvement when covered in brackets and bands, but nothing like once everything is finally removed. What I saw was a complete transformation in my smile. I immediately shed all those years of insecurity and was left speechless. I thought about the thousands of pictures where I never fully smiled. Although embarrassing to say, I must have looked at my teeth 100 times on my way home that day. I called and was told that they would give my notes to Dr. Datwyler and someone would get back to me. I called back 3 times within a 2 week period waiting for a response and each time was told that they were waiting for Dr. Datwyler to review the notes and would get back to me. Never received a call back. I understand that my dental situation is complex, but I feel like I was not a priority for them. If they aren't interested in taking me on as a patient, I would respect them if they told me that, so I could move on and find another place to work with. It is frustrating to have your time wasted and still going on week 3, not receive a call back.

My original orthodontist was no longer in business, so I checked Yelp to find a good orthodontist nearby -- and Lucas Orthodontics had great reviews. Making an appointment was easy, and the staff were welcoming and professional. The technician who helped me was friendly and efficient, and the whole process went very smoothly. After taking photos of my teeth, they scheduled my follow-up appointment to pick up the new retainer for the following week. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. I missed my appointments and wasn't wearing my trays for a few months, during which my teeth shifted back and all that progress was lost. I was pretty bummed about that, but Dr. P got me back on track with no problem. The whole team is very attentive and nice, you can tell they all enjoy working there and doing their best. You see/feel that from the moment you walk into the office. One more thing that I really appreciate about this office is that I never had to wait there for longer than 5 minutes. Unlike any other doctor office experiences that I usually have. That's very refreshing. Oh, and flexible finance options. I went there initially to get braces for my daughter, but ended up getting Invisalign for myself as well, as I could choose how much my monthly payment was going to be and stay within my budget.
