I scoped this location out for a veteran function. The decor is fantastic. They do not have food, but you can bring food in. Their wines are all named from military battles or items. We were lucky that one of the owners, Ben, was working when we went. He was able to answer all of my venue questions. I purchased a wine tasting flight. With each pour, Ben told us about the wine and the history behind the name of the wine. It was so intriguing! I can't wait to go back! read more

My neighborhood friend Claudine introduced me to this super friendly tasting room the other night and I enjoyed everything from the inside well-behaved pups and their responsible owners to the military memorabilia. I grew up in a pretty strict military household and my entire family is either in the medical field or military so Dauntless caught my heart upon entry. The flight consisted of a sparkling white wine which I enjoyed and will definitely be back for, a viognier and 3 Pinots. The Howitzer Pinot by Jesse Estate Vineyard is the bottle I took home and worth the $50.00 +tip. I am really happy that there's a tasting room like this close by where I don't feel judged and I can comfortably sit at a table or relax on the Adirondack chairs with WINE GLASS HOLDERS and people watch. Dauntless does not serve food but, don't mind you bringing your own although they partnered with Urban Decanter just next door and they deliver directly to you. Our Tasting Room Associate Izzie (hope I spelled that right or at least came close) was a sweetheart and very attentive. Thank you for the informative flight and your genuine kindness. Great service like yours does not go unnoticed. TLDR: Want to grab a great bottle/flight of wine and comfortably hang out with your pup or just people watch and feel good about doing it? Stopped by this tasting room on the way up to Seattle. The wines were better than the ones we had in McMinnville (overlord was our favorite). The best part was the friendly and attentive service and the atmosphere. As a military guy I appreciated the history and memorabilia. Dauntless is a great local winery located out in Forest Grove. I haven't been to their tasting room, but I used to drop by their booth when they were at the Hillsboro Tuesday Night Markets in the summer. The owner was very nice and friendly to talk to at the market. It's awesome that they are veteran owned and operated! Their wines are delicious. They have a lot of pinots as well some whites like Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. I really like that they name their wines after battle themes and have matching label art to boot. So far we've finished a bottle of the Howitzer, the Dreadnaught, and the Thud (a Blanc de Noir). Their wines are complex and tasty - worth every penny. For those of you who don't or can't make it out to Forest Grove, I recommend pickup at the Farmers Market. They are available on the What's Good app with pickup at markets like the Sunday Orenco Station Farmer's Market in Hillsboro. read more

What a great place! I have been researching for a while boutique winemakers and wineries around the Willamette Valley area. I'd read about in my Dauntless (though I can't remember how I found them) and was really excited to try them. I couldn't make it work earlier in the year but this weekend, success! And, I'm so glad I and a friend did. I am always a little leery about reviewing wines. I feel like wines are super subjective--what I like others might not and vice versa. Here's what I will say though about Dauntless--Neither I not my friend found a bad one in the bunch (pun intended). We tried their Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, the super Pink Rosie the Riveter, and two Pinot Noirs (Howitzer and No Mans Land). I walked out with all but the Chardonnay in hand and it wasn't because it was bad...I just am not a huge Chard fan. I liked Dauntless better than most. Price wise, Dauntless is pretty reasonable I think. Bottles range (right now) from $18 for the Gris to $35 for one of the current release Pinots. Part of the proceeds go to benefit Veteran focused charities--which I love. Ben, came in for us. Tasting room is open only by appt on Sunday's and was even able to come in early because we arrived into Forest Grove sooner than planned. He's fun to do a tasting with. What do you want to talk about? Military history? Done. Wine making? Done. Agriculture? Done. Veteran reintegration? Done. Time in the service? Done. He's personable and clearly passionate about this venture and it shows while he talks about it. The tasting room is great and very stylish. Not a lot of kitschy "wine" decor. There's a definite military theme present but well thought out and tasteful. Overall, my impression was this is a place I will return to. In fact, I'm already making a list of people I want to bring with me so they can check it out too. read more

Me and my partner love making the trip from Hillsboro to Forest Grove just to hit up Dauntless! We usually enjoy a flight outside, then grab a couple bottles for home. Ben and Carrie are the best. Wow. Very impressive. I couldn't believe that the winemaker has only been doing this for five years. The wines were all very well balanced with high acid and super long finishes. This former marine has put his heart, soul and discipline into his winemaking. Everything from the wine labels to the tasting room decor tell the American story. Highly recommend. This is a good group of folks making tasty unfiltered reds, delicious rose and dry Pinot Gris. They are three former marines who have an adorable tasting room and big hearts. If you like rich, full bodied reds, you MUST take a trip to Gaston and try it out. They donate their net profit to a variety of veterans charity organizations and are involved with helping transition combat veterans back into civilian life. Such a good group of people here.
