A local favorite of mine, I'd say! Especially if you're staying in the Banks, Forest Grove, or Hillsboro area. This is one vineyard that's a short drive, and not very difficult to get to for being located in Cornelius. No long and windy roads is what I'm implying. An easy vineyard you can show out-of-town guest what Oregon wines are all about. I feel this would be a quick treat for them. Even after work, just to relax with a glass and charcuterie board, we've been here! ~ The Views (or a view) ~ If you've seen the yelp pics on the views, then that's exactly all you'll get. You can chill inside for a tasting or out on the patio while enjoying an excellent view of the vineyard. On a clear sunny day, you can see Mt Hood in the background. Down below the patio, at vineyard-level, there are a few wooden beach chairs and picnic tables as well. It's relaxing wherever you choose really, to say the least. ~ Reds, Whites, and You ~ If you're looking for a white chard that's not too sweet, then this is your place! Their wines are simple enough to enjoy. I don't recall having a bad pour. But like practically every vineyard in Oregon, they too serve pinot noirs. I personally have more of an earthy pallet, so I do not have a taste for pinot gris or rieslings, but theirs I did admire. You'll have to try them for yourself. Again, I believe all their variations can satisfy anyone's pallet. ~ Owners, Staff, and Service ~ At one of the member events, we did get the opportunity to meet the owners, and their pup. All of them really down-to-earth people in my opinion. But I would like to give credit to Mach and Melissa as well. These two hustle! Not for you to just purchase their wines and join the club, but they're attentive on what you'd be interested in. Thank your Mach and Melissa for your generous and friendly hospitality. I recently went to Sidereus while visiting my Grandma who lives in Cornelius and we had a wonderful experience. I live near Temecula wine country in Southern California and have had my fair share of wine tasting experiences and this was top notch! Our favorite red was the Bulls Blend (so much so that we bought three bottles of it to be shipped home in CA). Our favorite white was the Roussanne which we also bought a bottle of. I'm not a big white wine drinker, but I loved this one! If you spend $50 on wine purchases, they waive your tasting fee. I don't think I've ever been to a winery that does that, so it was a big perk for me! We also had the charcuterie and hummus plates and it was a good amount of food for 4 of us to split while tasting our wine. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. The tasting house was beautiful and cozy. I loved the wood fireplace. They have gorgeous views of Mt Hood on a clear day. Sadly, it was overcast for us but still a beautiful sight off the deck. Don't skip this winery, you will not be disappointed. read more

Lovely winery on a beautiful vineyard with views of Mount Hood in the distance. Both the wine and the service here were fantastic. They had plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, both settings beautiful. We came by on a Friday afternoon for a tasting and enjoyed a bottle on the patio/deck afterwards. They allow outside food so we were able to snack while we sipped. The tasting consisted of 6 wines, 3 whites, 1 rosé, and 2 reds when we visited. Really enjoyed and would've gladly purchased a bottle of 5/6 of the wines we tried, not something that happens often. The spot is also dog friendly. We were lucky enough to see Joey, the winery dog while we were there, super cute pup! They even had a grassy area out by the parking with doggie bags to pick up after your furry friends. Unfortunately there was no room in my suitcase for wine to come home with me this time, but I'll be sure to save a spot next time. read more

My friend and I went here in February for the Valentine's Wonderer card. Upon arriving, the building is lovely, and when you enter the fabulous energy that seeps into your being makes you feel so good and happy. I've never experienced that before. They have seating inside as well as seating on the balcony outside. The gentleman that seated us (outside, as it was a gorgeous sunny day) was just fabulous! The view was spectacular! Trees framing the view of a snow-covered Mt Hood and the vineyard below (of course, the vines were bare, but I'm sure come sping/summer that will just add to this gorgeous view). We started with the Chardonay, which was light with a hint of butteriness and a crisp after taste. It was very good. The next was their Pinot Gris, and let me just say it's sunshine in a bottle! The next 3 tastes were Pinot Noirs, and I admit I'm not one that goes for Pinot Noirs. Boy, did they prove me wrong! I love all 3. The first one was light, mildly fruity, with a hint of sweetness to finish (this was my favorite). This one came from their vines. The second one was sorced from Washington grapes, the taste was bolder, more of the traditional Pinot Noir flavors, but very good. The last was the most bold and was absolutely delightful! The cost is justified, but I'm on a very limited budget. The last was the Cabernet Sauvignon, and though again I'm not big on Sauvignons, it was one of the best I've had! I came home with the Pinot Gris and the 1st Pinot Noir. Yum!!! My friend and I agree we will be visiting this winery a lot! I highly recommend them! Cheers! read more

Super cute winery in Oregon. I loved the aesthetic with a modern feel but very cozy. One of the better tasting rooms I've been in. You could sit inside or outside on the patio that overlooks the vineyards with a view of Mount Hood. It was gorgeous. The sommelier was amazing and gave us detailed descriptions of all the wine we were tasting. I thought the wine tasted very good. We even met the wine maker which made the experience even better. My personal favorite wines from the tasting menu were the Rose of Pinot Noir, the Riesling, and the Pinot Gris. read more

Formerly "Blooming Hill," this winery is under new ownership and has been re-named "SIDEREUS," Latin for "stellar; connoting beauty, brightness, brilliance, magnitude, majesty" etc. Honestly, this establishment lives up to its new name. The residence of the former owners has been completely re-engineered and remodeled into a "tasting house," a beautiful facility with a great view of the main vineyard sloping down and away, and majestic Mount Hood in the distance. The wines, crafted by Jason Bull, are wonderful, robust and reasonably priced. Sidereus offers a charcuterie board to guests, which is generous and reasonably priced; or, you can bring your own picnic basket and enjoy the view from an ample upper-story deck. The staff is very friendly, professional and attentive. The new owners, Skip and Ruth, are very friendly, relaxed and gracious, often mingling and chatting with guests; you will always feel at home here. I was a wine club member with the former owners ("Blooming Hill") and I carried my membership over to the new owners' establishment. I'm certainly glad I did! After our Rachel's burgers experience, I had another "GroupOn" of sorts it was actually a local coupon you bought for $20 and received $40 in product and since our first coupon of the day went well we decided to try this place out. This is well off the beaten path but well signed with those helpful blue signs so we decided to cruise (as much as you can in a 72 Chev pickup--long story but a fun one) up the the winery. The tasty room is actually in the basement of the owner's home. We were greet by two "wine dogs" they are big dogs but very friendly. There were many wines to taste and we each chose five to taste. There were about 11 or 12 to choose from. A few whites, a Rose' or two and several reds. The pinot noir has won an award or two and was quite tasty. Our coupon entitled us to two free tastings, a bottle of the pinot noir and two glasses. We bought a Rose and a white wine. It's summer time, well a hot spring at least, and it's time to bust out the refreshing white wines. The wines are tasty and fairly inexpensive. The view is beautiful and a nice view of the mountains, Mount Hood right out the back of the house and directly to your left as you look east is Mount St Helens. On this day the view was quite clear and beautiful. Jim and Holly Witte are newcomers to the wine industry but so far so good. Jim has stories to tell he spend twenty years or so in Hollywood working in the television industry. I'll definitely come back and check this place out. Friendly folks and tasty wine. Note: It might be a challenge to traverse to the tasting room if you have mobility issues, gravel driveway and a stone path lead downhill to the tasting room. read more

I love it when we find little hidden treasures in our area! A Blooming Hill Vineyard and winery is just that. Nestled in the rolling hills south of Cornelius, A Blooming Hill Vineyard and Winery is seemingly a little known local wine maker that is gaining recognition, and deservingly so. The winery tasting area seems to be run out of the finished basement of the vineyard owner's home. It is a small operation, quaint, and friendly; nothing fancy. The owners, a husband and wife team (Holly and Jim), were on grounds during our visit, serving the wine and talking with us about the awards their wine had received. The couple was extremely friendly and seemed to enjoy talking about their wine with us. I would have enjoyed talking with them more if it were not for the other guest they needed to assist. I didn't have high expectations for the wine...after all, I had never even heard of the vineyard. However, after just one sip of my husband's Pinot Noir I knew these two knew how to make a good wine! So I had a glass of their Pinot Noir 2009. Oh baby, that was good! I was dying for another glass, and that like never happens! I spoke to Holly and Jim about my love for the 2009 Pinot Noir and Jim then told me about the awards they had received for their 2008 Pinot Noir. From what I can recall, there was a local competition with entries from around the world of different Pinot Noirs...over 300 entries. From that, there were about 50 top wines that were chosen for judging. A Blooming Hills was selected and received a silver medal. So, of course, I wanted to try that one! It was good for sure. Bold, rich; a great Pinot Noir. I preferred the 2009 over it as I am a light weight and the 09 was a little less bold, but excellent non-the-less! It has yet to be entered into completion! I wish them the best; that 09 is worth a gold medal in my book! Here is what their website says about the 2008 Pinot: - "Noir has a superbly fruit forward flavor and gorgeous garnet color, a smooth sensation and long finish. Silver Award - Northwest Wine Summit; Bronze - Northwest Food & Wine Festival; Outstanding - Oregon Wine Awards; Silver - 9th Annual Pinot Shootout, Sebastopol, CA" Anyway, the grounds were beautiful! The indoor wine tasting area was nice; like I said, nothing fancy, but nice and appropriate for the rural setting. I wish we had a reason to return and relax their more often! The wine was priced very reasonably; average was about $15-$20 for a bottle. Holly told me they sell their wine at the Tuesday Market in Hillsboro as well as Hanks Market. Guess I'll be heading their soon to buy me some wine!! read more

My girlfriend, and I first visited A Blooming Hill on a groupon that she had picked up. The day we visited was real quiet, and Holly was out of town leaving Jim to run the tasting room by himself. It was great to hear Jim talk about the different wines. A Blooming Hill does a 5 flight tasting. We are huge fans of the 08 Pinot Noir (The rest are great too). The quality of Jim's wine is fantastic, and the prices can't be beat for such great product. The wine club is an outstanding value as well. We are proud to be members here. We have tasted quite a few other Pinot Noir's. And Jim's hold's up easily to the wineries that charge double. Easily one of the best values around. The View of Mount Hood from the bench swing on a clear day is our favorite as well. Go visit! read more

They do not practice sanitary food service! My husband and I came in to taste some wine. There was already a couple at the "bar", and they had a plate of cheese and crackers in front of them, and they were eating it. When they left, the blond lady pouring the wine moves their mostly eaten cheese in front of us! We were shocked to say the least. The couple before us had definitely eaten the cheese before us, and we were expected to share the utensils and food they had already touched?? Don't know if it's an Oregon thing. Despite their very good wine, we were turned off by their lack of sanitary food service. Yes I know it's not a restaurant, but people don't want to be given a masticated soft cheese touched by who knows how many people. Dry bar snacks are understandable. But not soft goat cheese where strangers are using the same knife or double dipping. read more

If you want to be in a chill small time but lovely place with a view to die for and meet and talk and be served by the grower of vines who makes all the wines (actually quite rare) then this is the place for you. Ive tasted extensively in the valley here and this place is a standout due to what i mentioned but also the really fine quality of every wine made here. I really liked this place. It had great pinot gris and pinot noir. They had a semi-sweet Riesling that is also worth checking out. The tasting room is basically the downstairs living room of the house so its nothing grand or spectacular but has a nice non-pretentious homey atmosphere to it. They had a groupon for two tastings, two wine glasses, and a bottle of pinot noir for $20 which is why I checked them out and was glad I did. The free pinot wasn't my favorite of theirs but I wouldn't have expected it to be for that price. Recommended if you are in Cornelius. read more

This winery & vineyard is a world class experience situated in a lovely bucolic environment. Nestled in a veil of trees and surrounded by sloping hills and lush natural landscape, the vineyard sprawls below the charming country home whose doors open to dark-washed hardwood floors and a cozy salon decorated in local art, vintage light fixtures and intimate seating off to the right of the glistening wood bar. The receiving room adjacent hearkens to a golden-years Hollywood theme with antique, classic and elegant furnishings. The wine is absolutely exquisite, lush, complex and nuanced. The pinots will hold their own against pricier counterparts with grace. They are structured and layered with vivacious fruit and warm leather accoutrements. The wine dogs, Gemini and Trouble, add a special touch. Jim and Holly are the consummate hosts who bring an eloquent, stately and witty New York presence married with demure, unassuming atmosphere. You feel at home and welcomed here. The wine club is wickedly affordable and comes accompanied by release fêtes. Hollys cooking is to die for. Holly was very friendly and we got to hear alot of good stories from here while tasting wine. My wife tried all the white wines while i tried all of the red wines. They have two adorable dogs Gemini(Lab Huskie mix) and Trouble(Pitbull Boxer mix) who followed us back to the parking lot to say goodbye. The wines were very good and we took home a 2009 pinot noir on our way back home. read more
