Wine tasting on the patio with a view of the vineyard
Jessica P.

Very enjoyable wine tasting experience. We sat at a patio table with a beautiful view of the vineyards and listened to the wind and sounds of hawks in the distance. So peaceful! Great spacing - actually we were at the only table on the small front patio (there was another group on the other side of the building). It was a fun and intimate setting and felt almost like visiting good friends or family. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. They also brought out a booklet for each of us to read about the different wines as we tasted them, and we had a little bowl of hazelnuts to enjoy in between glasses. I was surprised to be greeted by dogs, but they were well-behaved and mostly just followed the staff around or relaxed in the sunshine on the patio so they turned out to be part of the great atmosphere. The wine is good too! All we tasted were good and I'd happily have a glass or bottle of any of them.

Had an excellent time wine tasting here on Saturday after the smoke from the fires cleared up. We had a group of 6 and they were able to get us a reservation within 30 minutes of when we called. Everyone was carefully observing COVID guidelines and we felt very safe out in the open air. The winemakers were knowledgeable and even gave us some samples of grapes! We will absolutely be back and highly recommend if you want a more casual and informative wine tasting experience. The tasting was $15 and we got to try 5 fabulous wines.

A hidden gem of a vineyard. Beautiful views. Great wine (both the Pinots and the Bubbly). Beth, Kevin, and Sara are gracious hosts.

Their common areas include a dining room, a living room, a small library (with books and games) and TV room, as well as front and back porches. We originally booked the Oregon Trail room, but Kristin offered to upgrade us to the Oregon Coast room at a discounted rate. We chose the Oregon Coast room for the private balcony and stunning views over the valley. The room was lovely and comfortable. Toiletries, robes, and slippers are all provided for the guests. Our room also had an electric fireplace, which was nice. There was no TV, but that wasn't an issue for us. This is their handicapped accessible room, so there were extra shower and toilet seat handle bars. We stayed two nights and enjoyed two amazing breakfasts prepared by Ayelet. Over the two days, we were treated to blueberry French Toast, a poached pear, homemade bread, scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, blueberry scones, and a baked apple. Plus a selection of their homemade jelly/jam. A lot of the ingredients were sourced right from the property. While we ate, Ayelet asked us about our plans for the day, and she offered super helpful suggestions on what to do, where to go, what to eat. She even gave us printed maps! Some other noteworthy items: you get one free T-shirt with your stay; you have a choice of breakfast at 8 or 9 am; there are coolers, sunscreen, and sunglasses you can borrow; they ask your breakfast beverage of choice and usually have it out in the dining room an hour before your breakfast time; there are always homemade cookies, water, and glasses by the mini fridge; you can buy their homemade jam/jelly as well as T-shirts, mugs, coasters, etc. We loved our stay here. The view was gorgeous, the food was delicious, our room was comfortable, and Ayelet was amazing!

Overwhelmed by all the wineries? They can help navigate with excellent suggestions. Breakfast is offered at 8 or 9 am - my only suggestion would be having coffee available at 7am to hold me over (coming from east coast, even 8am was late for me). Even the jams at breakfast are for sale, and reasonably priced for the unique combinations. An outstanding base for a few days in Oregon's beautiful wine country.

The tasting room is filled with art created by the owner, James Frey and is featured not only on the walls but used for many of the bottle labels. Our server, Nick, was well educated on what he was pouring and made the whole tasting experience a great way to spend a dreary Friday afternoon. It was tough to limit my self to 2 bottles to take home and went with the nontraditional Oregon pinot selections even though those were good. I love me a good Pinot Blanc and anything, Walla, Walla. The 2 bottles, one, from their 1841 label, were added to my wine fridge. This stop is definitely worth it on a Ribbon Ridge Wine tour. I am anxious to go back for a Gin tasting from their newest venture, a distillery, called Brixeur Spirits. It sits on the property to left of the original tasting room where one can taste various Gins and maybe, a new specialty cocktail?

Fast forward to today, we own a car and decided it was time to find a more local option. After visiting Hawks View this past weekend I can say we've accomplished that and then some. This place sits firmly in the sweet spot of not being too "dinky" or small and not being too stuffy or corporate. I know we all have our preferences, I just like for my environment to be laid back or relaxed. The wines are fantastic here. Keep in mind, I'm no connoisseur of fine wine but I do know good from bad. Beyond the wine, we love this place due to the view (of course) but also the fact you can parlay your wine allocation pick up with a rotating menu of food. Now on to the wine flights. We both had flights which they let us customize. We both loved all the wines we tried and we both bought a few bottles to take home. It is unusual for me to like all the wines anywhere so it was a nice surprise. We finished our meal and moved outside with a glass of the Reserve Chardonnay to relax on the lawn. The service was a tad slow - perhaps because they had a trainee that day? Hopefully, when I go again, and I will, the service will be a bit faster.
