Over the last two years, I've truly evolved into a golfer, hitting the course almost every day. Golf has been a part of my life for a long time; back in my childhood, I used to mow people's lawns for money just to buy golf clubs at the Goodwill in my hometown. I grew up watching legends like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus on TV with my grandpop. Having already worked with two different instructors as an adult, I was really just looking for a refresher to get back on track. I decided to try Dolphin Highlands Golf Course. Unfortunately, I missed my first appointment, but the staff was great about it and gave me some free range balls to make up for it. However, the environment was a bit distracting--it was hard to understand how people focus there with planes from the Middletown Airport flying overhead the entire time. When I finally made it to my second lesson, I met my coach 1-on-1. Tim is highly knowledgeable, clearly knows his stuff, and has been in the game for a long time. That said, during our session, he focused heavily on how PGA legends hit the ball, constantly referencing players like Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Arnold Palmer. Personally, I prefer a coach who assesses my natural swing and makes minor adjustments from there, rather than trying to completely restructure my form to copy someone else. After all, I am unique--complete with a beautiful face and bronze skin! I believe in playing my own way. Honestly, people should try hitting the way I do, because I can drive the ball incredibly far, especially for an amateur. While I still recommend him as a coach because of his expertise, he just wasn't the right fit for my personal goals. Everyone is different, and that's the beauty of being human; we all have the freedom to grow and make our own choices here in the US. Kicked off the course while still daylight due to the staff wanting to go home. Yet they allowed super slow players ahead of us to play exceedingly slow and never once sent out a ranger to speed things along. Terrible course management read more

First time playing this course and i liked the course itself a lot. Tee boxes and fairways were great. The greens were ok with a lot of dinks on them. Layout was fun forcing different shots and lay ups. Only reason for 3 stars is the round took 5 hours on the dot. Truly unacceptable. Met with the group in front of us on every tee box. Great choice if you have no plans but to golf for the day. read more

Course was good but man how rude do the people in the pro shop need to be? I started a good round with some rentals since I'm not from here and on hole 5 which is a par 5 I wanted to use the 3 wood. Took it out and the club was snapped off the shaft with the head cover on still. Went inside at the turn hoping I can get a different 3 wood and the assistant pro Ryan was just flat out rude and wouldn't give me a different one. Honestly wouldn't suggest this course to anyone. Absolutely horrible horrible customer service. Would love to talk to the head pro. I'm in the golf business and this was just flat out rude. Won't get my business again. read more

Used to be my favorite course when I lived in the area...was still one of my favorites when I traveled back to the area BUT now you can't even get on the course! Just tried to make a T time for 9 holes (usually a single as I'm traveling!) and they can't seem to figure it out...its as if they've never heard of a single player who only wants to go 9!! He even suggested I find another player...REALLY?! Where would you suggest a guy traveling and wanting to play 9 holes early on a Tuesday find 'another player'?! He had to put me on hold while he asked the pro shop if it'd be OK for a single to play...takes all my info then requires a credit card...cmon dude, it's late October...the season is winding down...if I'm calling you for a T time now I'm showing up!!! One of the hottest days of the year. Course plays nice. I agree with everyone else's reviews that it gets backed up. Took 4.5 hours to play 18 on cart. Part of the problem was not being able to drive to my ball every time and having to walk from where the driver played his. I played solo but was paired up with 3 others. I booked 18 with cart, however upon playing. I was not alloted a cart. The starter made me ride with the other 3 some, 2 and 2. I did not know the other gentleman and found it extremely awkward that they made me ride along with the other gentleman. Playing with them is no problem, but forcing me to ride a long with them in cart was something I've never experienced and isn't the normal. Not only that, but when I asked the starter for my own cart since I paid for 1, he said nope, "no sir, you're riding along with them." AwKaArD. read more

An absolute gem of a golf course. I play here everyday. Everyday that I come out to play it feels like heaven. And by everyday I literally mean that I play here everyday. Best value for golf I've seen in years - I paid $25 to walk 18 at 2pm on an October Saturday. Even better, I played as a single on a gorgeous day and didn't have to wait to hit a single shot over the course of my 3-hour round. It's wide open enough on most holes to allow you some leeway off the tee; however, the challenge comes via trickiness around the greens, elevation changes, wind, and well-placed bunkers. And the next time the guy in a pro shop asks "Are you sure you want to walk," I'm going to listen. Very hilly - I'm hobbled over like Quasimodo today! read more

A really solid 18-hole public course, maybe the best muni in Central PA. I've been playing here since 2002. A nice links-based layout with good elevation change on many holes; wide open on several holes so being wild of the tee won't always hurt. Greens have a fair amount of undulation but nothing crazy. Hard to believe it's owned by Dauphin County. They are now being run by Billy Casper Golf. The bunkers could use more sand, less rocks! read more

One of the best Golf Courses in Central Pa. The Driving Range and Putting/Chipping Area are well-manicured and the staff is super-friendly and helpful! Very friendly to Beginners like myself (I don't lose nearly as many balls for mis-hits here). Wide open fairways and the greens are well above-average when not being aerated. I Golf here 2-3 times a month. Great Value too...There packages and pricing are super-fair. read more

I really like this golf course. The layout and fairways are great. Very attractive course. Good value also, paid $35 on Friday at noon to ride. Now the greens seemed to be aerated and sandy when we played last week so the greens were not in great shape and were slow. But they seemed to roll true. Also, agree with Mohun that the sand bunkers need more sand and less rocks...but I would recommend the course. Also, this rating is for a York County/Dauphin County Course....not a nationally recognized course (compared to a Pebble Beach this would be a 2-3). For this area, it is very nice. read more

Excellent Value in Harrisburg. Course somewhat challenging but not way over the top. Generous fairways. Real cool par 3s. All with its own character. Well worth the price. Clubhouse is the only downside. It deserves a way better clubhouse. read more

I just tried to make a Tee time since I will be traveling to the area for vacation. I was unable to make a reservation because "the course doesn't allow singles." Sorry, but you are not Pebble Beach, so stop treating paying customers like this! So much for the top ranked course in the area.... read more

Course is always in nice shape & majority of the players that show up here play relatively quick - which is a plus for me.
