We did not have the best experience here, especially for me since it was my first time coming to a Dave & Buster's. The arcade part of the place was fine. Our group found a lot of the games fun and interesting and it's a really great way to keep busy until you're seated for dinner. We ended up killing time for about an hour before we got to sit down and eat. I ordered the South Philly burger, which didn't come out looking as good as I expected. It was missing the peppers, onions, and mushrooms advertised on the menu. The meat was really dry, came out well done when I asked for medium. And it looked like it was sitting there for a while, which is not surprising because it took almost half an hour for our food to arrive, except for my wife's - hers took a total of almost 1 hour from the time we ordered. The french fries were okay. It came with the silver cup laying on the side, so I'm not sure what the point of it was. Presentation wasn't great, taste and flavor was completely lacking. Not very impressed with the food. The manager comped our meals due to the bad experience, which we appreciated. This is my experience dining in on the bar side on a Monday night. You'd think it'll be busy but less than 20 customer in the building either playing games or eating. Seated ourselves and withing 2min got greeted by a waiter...ordered 3 beers that took 15min to get. We could see the beer was already poured and waiting to be brought to us but our server/waiter was no where to be found. The bartender had to come out behind the bar and ask if we ordered the 3 beer and brought them to us. Cool. 10min later the waiter came back and took our order. Halfway giving our order, the waiter turns around and start watching the Monday Night Football game for 10 sec. Turns back around and apologize and had to give our order again. Sure I guess it was an exciting game between the Redskins and Bears. I ordered the nacho with "Green Chile Steak" (listed as that on their menu) cause that was one of my option. 5min later the bartender comes around and ask what I wanted with my nacho and I said the steak because he said the waiter was confused about the "Green Chile Steak". We waited over 30/40min for four entrees and there was only maybe another table with a couple that was probably getting food too. Finally when our food came out everything was expected but there was no steak on my nacho. I guess the communication wasn't there. My buddy asked for mayo and never got it. He gave up and finished his meal. Not one time did the waiter come back and check on us. We asked for the check and said that to use the cash and rest on card. This was my first time at a Dave & Buster's. Overall, I did have a good time but there were things here and there that didn't leave me super happy. We got there at like 6:30PM on a Wednesday and the wait time for food was about 30 minutes. They said if we could find a seat at the bar, we could have the full menu there. Luckily, we were able to find one quick. They have a list of entrees you can choose from where you can get a card for credits to spend on games. It was a pretty good deal, so we did that. Food/drinks: There are barely any vegetarian options which kind of stinks. But I'm a pescetarian so I had two options to choose from.... *Fire grilled salmon: not bad, the salmon was pretty chard so some parts did taste like burnt pieces, but it went well with the rice. The green beans were nicely cooked. *Dynamite fried shrimp: the calorie count for this dish was ridiculous, like 1400 calories. The whole thing was fried (the green beans too). The only thing I liked from this dish was the mashed potatoes and the sauce that came with it. *Frose: this was great, a little sweet and comes with those mini bottles of rose. *Black Raspberry Proseccorita: this was pretty sour and came with a mini bottle of prosecco. The food and drink all had calorie counts next to them. The drinks didn't have prices next to them which was weird. Service: Pretty slow. It was opening week so we were okay, but it was annoying that we mainly came to play and sat around for 2 hours. To make up for their slow service, they gave us more credits to play without us asking. That was nice :) Games: there were a lot of people, but we were able to play the games we wanted eventually. They had a lot of phone games like flappy bird, fruit ninja, candy crush etc. Wednesday is half price games and some of them too a lot of credits... I can't imagine how much it is on a normal day. You can get prizes with your credits, they do have some cool things but we just saved our points for next time. Me & my husband visited this place 3rd Oct 2021 with a couple of friends to celebrate one of their birthdays and: 1. The digital menu was annoying because you want me to tip a waitress before we receive any service. We couldn't even ask her questions about the food on the menu and when she came back to our table, we had already bitten the bullet and placed our order. 2. The majority of the arcade machines did not work. In my husband's Lara Croft game he played, the gun would not reload. In the alien invasion game I played, the gun wouldn't shoot. One of the basketball games wasn't keeping my friends score so we don't know who won. And guess what? There were no 'out of service' signs or any indication that the games were not working properly. 3. No refund on their faulty equipment: When my friend went to tell the employees that their games were not working well, the employee said that they don't do refunds. What a mess! We will not be returning and we recommend you guys fix your games or refund people their money when you don't service your games and they don't work well for your customers. Maybe even put up a sign that the game doesn't work well so people play at their own risk or something. Do better. read more

Came back last night. It did not go well. We sat at the bar, which had no more than 8 people at any point during our stay, and the dining area had some people but was not busy either. Our Bartender Dave? Davey? could not have been worse. The person I met here already had a drink, which was incorrectly charged as a specialty beer and not the domestic he had order, and it took 10 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged me and then another 10 to bring me the beer. Getting a second drink took double this time and had to be asked twice to get me one. We heard there was a special on Thursdays for $20 all-you-can-eat wings & games, we asked simple questions to the bartender about this deal and it appeared to be quite the inconvenience for him to answer them, giving short-unhelpful answers. Not fully understanding I opted out and just ordered some fries to snack on and my friend told the bartender he would get the deal. Our plan was to play games while we waited for the food, after about 20 minutes of waiting the bartender comes back around and I ask him where my friends card is to which he smirks and holds the card up to my face. He also placed the order for food without asking my friend whether he wanted bone-in or boneless wings. It had taken 20 minutes to the game card, almost 30 minutes to get my fries, and sitting around the 40-minute mark the wings had still not arrived. If the place was packed this wouldn't be an issue but it wasn't. We had tab open and noticed that there was an extra $10 charged to the game pass, only after questioning several people were we told it was added to the bill so that there were no exclusions on games. This was not wanted nor asked for. Having had enough we told him to cancel the order for wings and close our tabs, which also took forever. We had 14 people and called to make reservations three days in advance, they said they did not take reservations. We showed up anyways, and it took 15 minutes for someone to even GREET US at the door. After that it took awhile for them to find a server to even serve us, took about 40 minutes to get drinks. When the food came out, they brought out 4 peoples food first while the rest of us had to wait another 30ish minutes. Not to mention an order came out wrong. The server hardly acknowledged us. I've never seen such bad service. Just had a miserable experience at Dave and Busters in Madison. This isn't the 1st time we've been here, and we have liked it, but it seems the service is slipping. Tonight we ordered some drinks and a small appetizer to start with the intention of ordering more food after the appetizer. A half hour later we still had not received the appetizer so we called the manager, Tony, over and asked if he would check it out. He left to check, and then another 11 minutes went by. Still no answer and still no food, so we asked another waiter to check what was going on. At this point we were starting to get angry and I'm sure that message was taken to the manager. Moments later, the manager came over In an incredibly defensive posture, and basically made us feel like we were the bad guys for asking where our food was. There apparently had been a glitch with the system and our order got lost, but the managers defensive posturing made us both get defensive in return. We then waited an additional 10 minutes, And the manager finally brought our small appetizer Out to us, But offered no additional apologies or evenAn offer to give us the appetizer for free, seeing as we waited 45 minutes for it. At that point we decided we were not ordering an entree and asked for our check after we finished the appetizer. My dinner companion works in the restaurant industry and was clearly annoyed at how terrible the service was. And I have done enough work in the service industry to know you do not come up to patrons and treat them the way we were treated tonight. If anything you apologize profusely, and offer to make amends for issues that you are having. Sorry, but that's the way it should work. My wife and I got a babysitter and decided to try Dave and Buster's for the first time. We first headed to the bar and grabbed a seat. Atmosphere seemed fun and modern. But that's before it went downhill. Bartender asked what we wanted to drink as she gave us the menus. Right away, we could tell she wasn't happy and was rude. We decided to start with waters so we had time to look at the drink menu before placing a food order. Plus, I think the happy hour started in 6 mins. But the look on the bartenders face was one of disgust with our preliminary water order. After placing our H2O on the counter, two straws came flying at us and that was the last we saw of that bartender. The menu had some nice drink selections, but in a caption, it mentions "Please see full drink menu for all options". So when the next bartender came over without saying anything (but waiting for our order), I asked if there was an additional drink menu. Rudely, the man said, "No, that's what we have" while rolling his eyes. So that's when we decided to just get up and leave and take our business across the street. Horrible Service!!!!! I've been to Dave and Busters in Chicago, Memphis and now Madison WI. This location was managed poorly. One girl working the front counter with a line out the door. It was Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm. We waited almost 30 minutes and finally a second worker came to help the girl. When I finally made it to the counter to get a game card the woman working behind the counter was rude. Her name was Jessica. I had a couple of questions and she was annoyed. I get that they are busy but this place is expensive. I'm spending a lot of money on game cards, dinner and drinks throughout our visit. We should be treated with respect and politely as patrons of this establishment. After sitting at the bar for 20 minutes someone finally comes to take our order. It took 30 minutes to get a drink. The place was dirty. The tables, floors and bar was dirty for over an hour. They were ever cleaned the entire time we sat at a table and ate our dinner. They do not have enough staff to accommodate the customers. It's really sad because I've seen this place in other locations run very smoothly. This place needs new management. Don't waste your money visiting this location until they have a complete overhaul of management. It starts at the top. read more

Ugh, yeah I'm sorry D&B. I loved you as a kid and teenager. I still had a super fun night playing games, but there are a few areas of improvement: 1) the bathrooms were out of toilet paper and paper towels (both men and women's) 2) there were a lot of employees around, but the servers seemed to struggle keeping up with their customers. The front area and bar seemed more staffed than the dining areas That's the gist of it. I will be back, don't get me wrong. I just know to check the stall for toilet paper before using it. This was our second visit and it turned out just as below average as the first time. We sat in the bar and ordered drinks and a appetizer. We got the dip trio, which consists of 3 different dips and chips. We were given 12 chips max for a appetizer that consists of 3 dips. Our waitress said we can always order more, so we did. 15 minutes later, our chips finally arrived. They were hot but 15 minutes seems a little long. We ordered dinner shortly after, which took another 45 minutes to arrive. We ordered a couple more beers in the mean time, which each took 10 minutes to come to the table that was in the bar. Eh. It's a gimmicky chain and while I am a sucker for a gimmick ... chain gimmicks wear out quickly. The food quality and its prices seems akin to Applebees (and they have the same head chef at every restaurant, an industrial Sunbeam at 1100 watts). This is not to say that it is bad but I don't want to shell out that amount of money for something I could nuke myself. The game selection is good, the newer machines that haven't filtered into local arcades and that sort of thing, but the cost adds up if you are planning on making an evening of it. The food here is surprisingly delicious. I ordered the salmon with green beans. The salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was very tender, flaky, and moist. The green beans were also very fresh-tasting and cooked just right. Andy got the steak which had good flavor and was cooked to order but was a lottle tough. Young and black, be prepared to feel discriminated against. I'm white, my best friend is black. We both walk in, and the general manager standing in front immediately asked my friend for her ID. Now. There's no problem being carded. We get carded all the time. What we do have a problem with is ONLY her being asked for an ID. Dave and Buster's age policy is under 18 must be accompanied by someone over 25. There's only a 4 year difference between us. Even if he thought she was under 18, there was no reason not to also card me to make sure I was the right age to accompany her. When someone gets carded in a group, you card the group. Especially if the only person you feel like carding is black and you explicitly tell their white friend they don't need their ID, but you'll look "if it makes her feel better". And then proceed to tell the 22 y/o woman you just carded you're a "pretty good judge of age" trying to defend not carding her friend. Not to mention NONE of our other baby faced white friends who came in later got carded at all. When we expressed how rude it felt, we both felt the apology was pretty blown off and he threw us a couple $5 cards from the huge stack in his hand to get us out of his hair. read more

The games were fun and my daughter loved it but the service in the restaurant was horrible and the food not great. (How do you mess up chicken tenders and a cheeseburger?) We were seated and waited over 35 minutes (in a restaurant that wasn't half full) for a server and the only reason we got one was because we stopped the manager who only made excuses instead of just rectifying the problem. I don't care why we didn't have a server, just get me one. Her chicken tenders had a weird flavor, my cheeseburger was medium inside (which I ordered) but the outside was burnt. The only way this happens is by having your grill up too high. I also ordered a side Caesar salad that was very poorly dressed. The dressing was in a huge clump instead of being properly tossed. Save your time and money. Lunch time at a Saturday, was able to get a table right away. Waitress took a drink order right away and it all went downhill after that. Despite the restaurant area being only about 1/4 full, our waitress apparently didn't sign up for the "service" part of "service industry". Took a while for the food to show up and after that, she was just gone. Loud music, too. The restaurant seems to be going for the "entice them with portion size" without worrying about taste. If you fed me my pulled pork / mac-n-cheese sandwich while I was blindfolded, I wouldn't have been able to tell you what I was eating. Nothing about the meals were exciting, especially considering the price. After that we hit up the games, but there's either the quick play games where you can earn tickets to trade in for prices, or regular video games of which there were few. Between the music and the games' sounds, just a constant din. Didn't take long to go through the money we had put on our game card (which you have to pay to have activated and have to have in order to play). I love video game arcades, but wouldn't consider this to be one. Go to Rossi's Pizza instead and get some good pizza with actual 25 cent arcade machines. read more

I have left very few reviews since opening my Yelp account. It takes a really "standout" experience for me to want to post something here. This is such a moment. We drove almost an hour and a half, to gather here for a friend's birthday. We planned on getting appetizers, playing a bunch of games, eating dinner, and then playing more games until the end of the night. We were seated at the bar area right away, and our waitress came. She took our drink orders, and then left. I ordered a basic Whiskey Old Fashioned, the rest of our group ordered specialty drinks, that looked really good. My drink literally tasted like water. The only thing that lead me to believe there was anything else in it was the muddled fruits at the bottom of the tiny glass. It was happy hour, I am sure they were swarmed at the bar, so this gets a small pass, and I mean small, its still a bar. After this, the waitress returned, and we placed an appetizer order. We realized it was 6:20pm and the rest if our group would arrive at 7pm, so we planned on getting out appetizer check right after they came. 7pm came, the rest of our group came, and we were moved to a larger table, as we figured we would just do dinner first. But our appetizers had not come. The waitress returned to get more drink orders, and we gave those. 7:30pm came around, and we still had no appetizers. We flagged down what looked like a manager, and informed him of our wait, to which he scoffed and told us it was busy, but he would try to get our waitress. Another 15 minutes passes without either of them coming by, and our party decided we would go to the food court instead. We waited for the manager or waitress to return so we could inform them we had no intention of staying and that we could cancel our appetizer order. Another 15 minutes passed, and the manager and waitress both returned. After telling them we were going to leave and that they could cancel the appetizer order, they said that they were 'on their way out' and that they would give us a couple play cards to compensate us for the poor experience. Another 15 minutes passed, with no return of either people, or our appetizers, and we walked out. We passed the manager as we left and he just looked at us as we passed him. He did not say a single word. I am completely appalled at the service we received this evening. It turned our entire planned evening upside down. Not only this, but for an establishment that charges an outrageous amount of money for food and drinks, you would think that they would have a better trained staff, or a manager that had a clue what he was doing and how to help his customers. Even if he is not directly responsible for the food or the servers, he could have made some effort to make our situation right, instead of essentially laughing in our faces when we asked, and then not saying a word when we left. We do not live anywhere near this location, but we will make sure to avoid this, as well as the other locations in Wisconsin. Walked in late lunch time with a small coffee and was stopped dead in the foyer with "I'm sorry you can't bring that in here". No "welcome", "hello", or any other reasonable greeting. I asked if I could step in to the establishment and finish my coffee just inside and was denied. Don't feed me the BS line about the city says this or that, I've walked in to countless restaurants with coffee in the past 15 years in Madison and never had that happen. This was the rudest welcome I've ever had at a restaurant here. I had my son with me so to not disappoint him we played games for a bit but went elsewhere for lunch. After this first time visit I decided that I need to start doing these reviews, a lot. First off, the building and the interior is great, inviting, and great for a sports bar type setting with some great looking games in the back and our waitress was bomb (I forgot her name but she had lined tats on the right arm, facial piercings, and a purple streak in her hair. She is awesome, tip her well), the rest goes straight down the toilet as fast as drinking beer then eating taco bell. I will start with the food. Bruh, the food is expensive and basic. We started with the burger sliders deal and I kid you not it looked like they went out and got some frozen White Castle burgers and then charged you $12 because they put a toothpick in the top with a cherry tomato and a pickle. This can't be White Castle though because White castle is actually good. We had a large group and ordered a ton of other food to which they all thought it was pretty basic for half the price, and downright nasty for the price. I like my booze so I went to the bar to get a double Jack and coke, the bartender who was clearly ready to get out of there and totally snooty told me that they are not allowed to sell doubles...In Wisconsin, in freaking Wisconsin they are not allowed to sell doubles so I asked for a large glass, ordered two singles and dumped them into the larger cup. The prices aren't that bad though but there is a reason for that, so that you get hammered enough to not see how your wallet is getting destroyed by the stupidly expensive games. The games: Couple of good shooters, the 4D horror game is cool, the rest is pretty much standard Chuck E Cheese except you buy a "Power Card" for a couple bucks and then buy chips to use for the games. We were there with a lot of children in our group and they all got $20 put on their cards. I am not joking when I say that within under ten minutes they all needed a refill LOL and we didn't believe them until we saw they were broke. The games are stupid, stupid expensive and when they see you are doing well, such as the shooter games, they basically say "LOL, bruh, time for some cheap shots cause we needs all yo money"...and you are dead so you need to reinsert their robbery card again. If you want a cool sports bar with good food then don't go here, don't take your kids here because they will ruin your nest egg in minutes because of how expensive it is. To preface... This place is litterally a scam. I'm embarrassed for who ever owns this place. An anomaly of bizarre experiences, staff seemingly roaming around without a single responsibility, ignoring customers. This is my 2nd time coming, and the experience you're about to read is identical to the previous. If you dont believe me, compare this review to litterally every other review, and you will find the same reoccurring themes. If you want to be insulted while you eat incredibly overpriced food, this place is where you want to be. Starting our evening off, in the lobby, waiting for 10 minutes, being ignored by every staff member in the building. Myself and a group of friends sat ourselves at a table (because no one else was going to do it) l. Waited 10 minutes for a server. Server is visibly annoyed with us for some reason. Finally ordered food and drinks. 20 minutes later, one (1) food order came out.... 20 more minutes have now passed. the drinks and rest of food finally come. My beer was apparently the largest size they serve; I was not asked what size I wanted when taking my order. Litterally a full hour has now passed (since the drinks came) Food finally comes. Waiter is near hostile and still seemingly annoyed with our bare minimum requests. I've finished my beer, the server asked if I'd like another. I said "no thanks, I'm driving this evening, so just the one drink for me" the server then insisted multiple times that I should still get more drinks. "How about just a pint then? Its smaller". Unreal. We come to the bill, which was inevitably screwed up, (because why wouldn't it be). Almost being straight up refused help and to remedy our mix up. We just paid the Bill's as they where, and paid each other back for the differences. Side note: during the entire time we where there, there was a large dispute between a bunch of disruptive teenagers, and 4 Madison Police officers.
