First time at the new location. Went for Thu Night Football. This places is LOADED with TVs and areas to watch the game at every angle. Our sever was friendly and attentive. Our food arrived promptly. Even though being 'bar food' it was well prepared. The onion rings were crunchy and not rubbery or stringy. Really good rings. 'Chicken Lips' are basically chicken strips. I got them charred w BBQ sauce. Very good! I would get them that way again. The curds were crunchy chewy and not over-battered. My party was pleased with the other meals as well. I am typically not a big sports bar person but I have to give Tanner's Bar two thumbs up. There is plenty of parking, there are tons of tv's for you to watch sports. I forgot to ask when I was there if they ever have any UFC or boxing matches. The bar has great drink and food specials, we actually went two nights in a row and the food was awesome! Even though it was busy the waitresses were right there to take your order or refill your drink. Samari & Robbi were our waitresses, we had a blast with them. While I love this place there is one thing that people should know if going to eat, especially if its after 7:00 p.m. Business and kitchen hours are posted, but that doesn't seem to mean much to those in charge. The kitchen closes much earlier on certain nights as does the business itself. Most staff keep consistent hours, but there is one staff member who closes the kitchen and the business itself early every time she works. Its best to call ahead to find out if the kitchen is open, because whatever you see posted or online doesn't matter. If you can overlook the potholed, gravel parking lot with weeds, walk through the front door to no greeting and seat yourself over the trash on the floors and dirty tables, you will be surprised by the delicious burger, turkey club sandwich and fries (even though you may have ordered tater tots and not fries). Your drinks will be spilled on the table and not wiped up, but your food will be delicious. The prices are decent, but with this "impeccable" service, you will be charged a fee if paying with a credit card. read more

A few people at tables scattered around the bar. The place has an overall dingy vibe. We chose a high table. Wife ordered tacos, I ordered "drummies" with blue cheese dressing. Everything about them was wrong. Terrible and totally flavorless batter (except the faint taste of freezer burn). Sent them back. Tacos weren't poisonous, and that's the best I can say about them. Not the best and not the worst just wouldn't return. My taco salad looked substantial on a big plate but it was on top of a large layer of tortia chips and a small amount of actual salad. Eating it was a chore. I had to sort of scrape off the salad parts to avoid getting all chips and a fork was useless. You would need a big spoon or maybe a shovel to eat this like a normal taco salad. Not much to it, especially at the $13 dollar price. My buddy got the Ruben sandwich which had the proportions all wrong like so many sandwich places do nowadays. Too much meat, too much cheese and too much sauce. Not a balanced sandwich, just a bunch of stuff thrown together with a gloppy texture and flavorless. The place was busy and is nice looking inside. The outside parking area could really use some cleaning up. Maybe some of the other food is good here just not what we got. It's in the old Quaker Lube building if you are wondering where it is. The GOOD: -There are a lot of TVs, so the game you wanna watch is probably on, if it's not, they've always been willing to put it on at least 1 TV for me. -Their burgers and wings are really good. -Usually a decent, but not overwhelming crowd. You can always find a place to sit, it just might not be where you want. Patrons are a decent mix of regulars and random. -Most of the bartenders are friendly and engaging -Good tap list The BAD: -The whole place badly needs a face-lift. Needs new carpet. Always seems to be some kind of plumbing issue in men's room (e.g. urinal out of order). Little stuff like broken door handles are a regular occurrence -Seems chronically understaffed. That may be the new reality, but it's definitely noticeable here. -Outside of the burgers and wings, the food was mediocre at best. For me, I love burgers, wings, beer and sports, so this is a reliable place to get that fix. read more

Tanner's is a pretty typical sports bar, but it's definitely one that's seen better days. When we walked in around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday night, I noticed that the place really wasn't that busy. The decor is dive-bar-esque. There are plenty of T.V.'s though, so if you just want a cheap spot to watch the game, this will suit your needs. The service was prompt and friendly. Additionally, our food did come out hot and everything tasted good. I had the Friday fish-fry, but got the broiled fish instead of the beer-battered. The fish was pretty well seasoned and tasted nice, but it was nothing to write home about. The coleslaw was also fairly run-of-the-mill. However, the sweet potato fries were particularly tasty. Overall, I recommend Tanner's if you just want a very basic, affordable sports bar to watch the game at. My burger was absolutely outstanding -- over a week later and I'm still telling my friends about how good it was and that they should add it to their list. Tanner's is a typical sports bar with many TVs. I've been here several times for lunch. The acoustics are bad and the place tends to be very noisy. The menu is basic bar food with burgers, wraps, salads and appetizers. The burgers are very good. Charbroiled and very large. The avocado BLT is a triple stack with 3 slices of bread. Too tall to bite thru. The turkey ranch wrap is excellent. I would usually recommend the tater tots but today they were so heavily salted they were inedible. The pub chips are a hit. Crispy and lightly salted. Overall the food is good and the portions very large, I always need a box for leftovers. The service tends to be slow. If they had one more server I think the complaints would cease. My server today was running her butt off and did a fair job of keeping up. read more

I ordered a cobb like salad with chicken First question - chicken batter fried or grilled? Whoa! I'm from California where nothing healthy is batter fried. I went with grilled and added a half avocado for $1.50. Honey mustard dressing. I would say it's a big salad that isn't that bad. What drove my rating down was the cheese curds or shall I say, fried cheese sticks? The first sign was the shape of them. Oddly all tubular. Upon tasting, the bite was similar to a cheese stick. We eventually gave up on even ordering food after asking our waitress 3 times. She told us we need to use our unicorn server which we haven't seen in quite awhile and we're deciding if she was real or a mirage at that point? Usually we go in to eat at Tanners, but this time we decided to do take out and it was an experience. First, we ordered over the phone and when when we went to go pick up the order, we were given the completely wrong order. No big deal at all, as we were able to drive back and exchange the order. But once we got home and I was more than half way done with my chicken lip sandwich, I noticed there was a green bug in my sandwich.. When I called to inform the restaurant and asked for a manager, a very nice guy answered and advised to call back in the morning to talk to the GM because he wanted it to be handled properly- in which I completely understand and appreciated. I then called the next morning and a GM answered and I told her the situation and she completely blew it off. She didn't ask for my name, what I ordered or didn't advise how this would be avoided in the future. She acted as if this happens all the time and didn't take it seriously at all. The only thing she asked was how much the total was and the card number to compensate because that was all she can do. She did say the computer was down so she couldn't look up our order, but I would at least expect her to take down our order so this doesn't happen to anyone else? It just blew my mind that she treated this as if we got the wrong side instead of there being an actual bug in my sandwich. It was just a very disappointing experience because it just shows that Tanner's does not take health precautions seriously and they are ok with having bugs in peoples foods. read more

Seated ourselves like the sign says and the waitress, Abby showed up to our table in less than 1 minute. She was great! Very sweet, timely and helpful! Lots of TVs. Kinda dark lighting at many tables but good for TV watching. I was expecting worse because of some of these low reviews but was pleasantly surprised by the service, the atmosphere and most importantly, the food. I got the honey BBQ battered and charred chicken lips and they were juicy and super delicious! What a fun twist on chicken! I will be trying more flavors but I'll skip the char next time as I chomped into a couple of overly charred pieces and couldn't get the burnt taste out of my mouth for a while. Super delicious otherwise! Reminded me of ribs without the bones! I also tried the tater tots. Nice seasoning and crunch while being really soft and fluffy in the middle like a tot should be! Since moving to the Middleton area, I've become a bit of a regular at Tanner's. The atmosphere is welcoming with plenty of areas to grab a seat and watch whatever sport your heart desires. I tend to try to get a seat at the bar simply because I like to watch the bartenders in action. I've never had a bad drink, a bad meal, or bad service at Tanner's. The food is what you'd expect from a bar and grill. I highly recommend just about any 'Booga (aka burger) and the chicken lip nachos are by far my favorite. Waitress flipped my sandwich onto table but I ate part of the other half. Then noted my SW Turkey sandwich was missing cheese and spice. She said I thought u said Club. I was starving so didn't notice till a 1/3 into the sandwich. She agreed to bring me a different sandwich and says it normally comes on a roll of some sort even though the menu says white, wheat or rye. I asked for the sandwich to be on wheat and it was delivered on rye. Again I was hungry and tired of dealing with stupidity so I ate most of the sandwich. Then ordered a Moscow Mule which I have included a picture of with quote unquote fresh fruit. I found out that the bartender serving the rotten limes is in charge. This place is awesome. I have been a regular here for almost three years and it has been worth it every visit. Now, let me preface my experiences by saying this is a sports bar. This is where you go to watch a good game on their many screens or wind down for happy hour after work. Its going to be loud and noisy, but its a sports bar. Sports bars are like that. Its awesome to see bartenders you recognize and get to know names not just faces. The manager seems to know so many people as well, which is comforting and shows he pays attention to the customers. This being my "Cheers" bar, I love it. I always get the turkey club wrap with tater tots, and I have to say those are crispy and out of this world. I have tried other things on the menu and nothing has been disappointing. They have also really stepped up their server and bartender game which I know has been hurting in the past and is essential to getting through the afternoon and nighttime rushes. Hang here and have a brew or a cocktail. Get to know the bartenders and watch some good sports. read more

I'm quite shocked that this place has lasted as long as it has in Greenway Station. Working close by, I've seen so many different restaurants in and out of that area. Tanner's has always just been "OK" from what I hear. I could never speak for their food because I've only visited a few times for one or two drinks after work. The bar is always busy but the service is typically slow. I don't believe that any of their staff enjoys their job - or they all just have resting b**ch face. A couple of coworkers and I stopped in for lunch on Wednesday around 11:30a. Originally the restaurant was pretty quiet and I could see a couple of employees sitting at the bar watching people walk in and seat themselves. I wondered how long it would take for someone to come over. Our waitress did greet us and get our drinks quickly but that'll be the last nice thing I say about her. She came back about 10min later to take our food order; egg sandwich, Tanner tacos and Chicken Philly Salad. Both of my coworkers raved about the tots and finished their meals. I rarely finish a salad but this one was delicious. It had the perfect balance of salad greens and toppings and I always appreciate a salad that has greens instead of iceberg. The chicken was sort of crispy but it really complimented the rest of the veggies. The reason I don't give another star is because of their service. The restaurant started filling up rather quickly after we placed our food order and you could see our waitress panicking. All of a sudden she was just MIA. We could see all of the other tables looking around for her as well. It took 30 minutes to get our food, she never returned to refill drinks and then it took 10 minutes for her to get us our bill after we had to ask. We noticed another waiter and how he was basically running the entire floor himself, even taking over her tables. We felt bad that our tip was going to our waitress instead of him considering all she did was take our order and give us the bill. read more
