This spot has incredible soup! Seriously, they have 3 soups a night (one is always chili I think) and I understand them to all be homemade! They have a delicious creamy, homemade blue cheese dressing that is seriously so good. They have a nightly specials, including weekday specials! First time for us, and on Mother's Day at about 1:30 in a last minute decision to picnic in the sun. We called in our order and it was ready so quickly we were shocked. We had the Patty Melt (one side of bread was rye and the other white/maybe sourdough?), Gyros, Chicken Sandwich, and a Burger. All of the food was tasty, although the fries were bland with no taste for me. Cheese Curds were good. The pricing was appropriate for the servings and we enjoyed our carry-out picnic lunch. This place has great food! The portions are generous and have great flavor. They serve Pepsi and have a full bar. There are tvs to watch sporting events. Went here for fish fry for the first time. The price was relatively high compared to other places in the area, the fish was soggy and lukewarm, the fries were soggy and cold. Then they rushed us to get out as soon as possible. One of our party left the table to answer a phone call and they immediately took their chair for another table before they got back. Every fall I seek a place to watch University of Wisconsin football games. After one "meh" outing I give up for the season. None have had the vibe I'm looking for. Well, the search is over. I tried Mid Town Pub for the first time in fall of 2022. The service here is unlike anywhere else right now - top notch. My friend and I have a count of how many times in a row we have been to restaurants and the staff bring appetizers and there's no plates or utensils. We are supposed to do what? Like eat this food hand over hand? At Mid Town Pub - with a different friend, otherwise that count would have stopped - service is consistent. I appreciate applied effort by multiple members of staff. Popcorn was handed out freely. Even though I hadn't planned to take any or eat it, I did end up having it. It was such a surprise perk, I had to. I've never consumed a Jell-O shot in my life. Until that day. Yes, first and only were the shots given out upon the Badgers scoring. Our burgers, fries, and soda were A-OK too. I appreciated that it wasn't too rowdy and neither the TVs nor patrons too loud. I could converse with my associate. If I had friends interested in watching football games I am sure I would have been back but I hope to go back soon. This is now my spot for watching games outside the house. Traveling for work and got out around 9pm looking for not fast food to take back to the hotel and shockingly everything closed at 8:30pm except this place on the list. So I saw the score without looking at anything else and called an order in. I pulled up and instantly thought... what was I thinking. But as they say, don't judge a book by its cover!!! What a hidden gem!!! I got the chicken bagel weird app (confusingly good!!!), bone in wings app (super crunchy like I like them with a nice buffalo that packed a kick!!!), prime rib and cheese (similar to what I call a steak and cheese at home and did not disappoint!!!) and the BEST of them all, the grilled chicken club sandwich!!! Last visit to my neighborhood place to feast and drink was when the loosening of the worldwide curfew allowing patrons to once again venture out into the scary covid plagued world to test the waters at surviving restaurants. That night I went to Mid Town Pub and had some chili and tequila. That's was perhaps 18 months ago. Earlier tonight I returned home from a day of grinding salt in the mines to find my wife's car missing. A phone call revealed she was with some friends a mile or so east at the MT Pub so I did a reverse, and beelined right there. PACKED. 6:30 or so and every seat was occupied. So I ventured in anyway and found them at the back area awaiting seating. After getting myself an iced tea, we were promptly told a four seat booth was open so drinks in hand we made our way. The menu seemed to be still many of the things I recalled liking, but opting for Fish n Chips, intent on removing the disappointing memory of last nights not so enjoyable version of the same exact meal at a place I won't establishments name. (But the second name on the sign reads Buster) Despite a packed house, all four of our meals arrived in an amazing display of a well run business. HOT and quick. Last night I was disappointed nearly entirely by a soupy (literally the viscosity of warm honey) bland tarter sauce. Tonight I had a thick tarter sauce that clung to my excellent fried Cod as well as my crispy fresh fries, not dripped off like snot from a toddlers chin. My wife had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which she told me was really good. Adding, because she boxed the second half for tomorrow, additionally demanding my promising to not eat it. I tried. But about 15 minutes ago I took a bite. 13 minutes ago, I couldn't help myself and took two more. 2 minutes passed, and because it was TOO DAMN GOOD, I may have caused tomorrow to be a shitty day, because I ate the rest of it. 5stars. The clam chowder, as I am darn certain, has ALWAYS been great here. Tonight too, it was incredible. The singular gripe I have: BIGGER BOWL NEXT TIME. I just had the cup. Chances are high, because I hate to upset my wife, I'll be back there tomorrow ordering a large bowl of the chowder, as well as a replacement Buffalo Wrap before she discovers I broke my solemn promise. It's a Friday night and we attempted to eat here at 6:00 pm after a memorial for a family member. I grew up in Middleton and we were showing family from out of town the flavors of Wisconsin. When we walked in we were greeted by a hostess who just shrugged her shoulders and told us they were full." We asked the wait time and were given another shoulder shrug and she said, "I don't know; we're full. We walked out dismayed by the cold interaction. We would have gladly waited for a table, but at this point we felt we were clearly not wanted. Apparently Midtown Pub doesn't want any business. 5 years ago I rated this restaurant a 1. The walleye was terrible. We decided to try it again and I am glad we did. The only way to make the walleye better is to pan fry it. It was good non the less flaky and tasty. The choice of sides are interesting. Clam chowder or chili or French onion soup or salad or baked potato or fries. That's in addition to the garlic bread and Cole slaw that comes with the meal. We were happy too that we could eat outside as that would have been a deal breaker for us. read more

To sit at the bar you need to jam into one end with only a few other stools, and the rest of it has tables with I bunch of junk stored underneath them. Looks bad - bad. I dined at Mid Town Pub several weeks ago. The staff was fine, and I was approached quickly, but several things went wrong with my order. It was almost as though the server hadn't listened to me at all when placing it. The restaurant was not crowded. In addition, the server made a vulgar comment about a competitor. The problems were fixed, for the most part, and the meal was good, so I decided to give them another chance, and went there again, ordering the same thing - a veggie burger, fries, cole slaw, and soft drink. This time, I received the food the way I asked for it. I was even going to comment to the manager about the improvement of this latest visit. Instead, he* approaches *me*, and with a grim facial expression, hands me the check, and said I'm not welcome there anymore. Reason: I complained about "everything", and was "rude" to wait staff". As an older and assertive woman dining alone, who had legitimate gripes, voicing them directly, I can't be sure, but I think that discrimination was a factor in this treatment. I had only asked them a few questions, one of them being if they could replace my soda, which tasted strange. A fresh bowl of popcorn I requested had not been brought to me, and I got up and got it myself, but quietly, and not in a huff. I asked to speak to the owner. He had the same facial expression as the manager, and parroted the same thing he had said. As it stands, they both read a review I wrote on Facebook about my initial bad experience there (of which I also said favorable things.) I honestly believe this is the main reason for the ban. As I was leaving, I paid the check, added a 15% tip, like last time, was polite and courteous, wishing the staff a nice weekend. I'm 67 years old, and have never been banned from a restaurant before this. When mistakes are made by restaurant staff, and a customer verbalizes it, the staff should apologize, make it right, and tell them that they hope they return. When you're hungry and you decide to spend your money at one restaurant out of hundreds to choose from in town, that should be respected. Calmly, I told them I'll be writing more reviews of the establishment. I realize this is a popular restaurant/pub with good food, but I was astounded by how this situation was handled. Out of towner looking for a place to watch my Chargers, and dialed up this place. I expected more of a "sports bar", but it's more of a "restaurant sports bar", if that makes sense. There were a handful of folks when I arrived, but no one was watching football. Asked to have a TV turned to the Chargers/Bengals game, and was rewarded with seeing it happen! I had the Edmund Fitzgerald, several waters, and I ordered the Denver Brat (no onions). It was great! The waitstaff were kind, professional and attentive! I brought my better half the MTP mini's, and she enjoyed them very much, too. Would definitely visit again next time I'm in the area. read more

I really enjoy this place. I experienced the Prime Rib special one Saturday. That was wonderful BUT that Friday Fish Fry was incredible. Let me elaborate a tad. Not only was the pricing fabulous , and the Fried Cod great BUT THAT HOMEMADE CLAM CHOWDER!!! The absolute BEST I've had in years. You can always tell a true Chowder made from scratch that's the perfect consistency with tender clams and the herbs!! I could stand on the roof and praise this soup. I felt like that Seinfeld episode when Elaine is walking with George then takes a taste of George's Crab Bisque( from the soup nazi) then promptly reacts " oh I gotta sit down " It's THAT GOOD!! A Madison hidden gem! In terms of customer service, Mid Town nails it every. Time. We walk in to multiple hellos from the great wait staff. They all work together and check on your table multiple times throughout the entire meal. The food is amazing especially the chicken bites, jalapeño poppers, and French onion soup. I really like that you can choose from 6 different sides with your burger/sandwich. I had the popper burger with fries. The burger was perfectly done and I really enjoyed the pretzel bun. Mid Town Pub doesn't look like much from the outside (it's set in a small strip mall with several empty businesses) but it's worth pulling up and having a meal. I've been to MTP a couple of times now and have enjoyed each visit. When you arrive there's a basket of something to munch on - I've sat down to both snack mix and popcorn. I preferred the snack mix to the popcorn; the popcorn was very salty (a smart move in a bar, it'll get you ordering drinks). I've had the ABLT and Prime Rib sandwich. The ABLT Supreme (avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato) was a good size and pretty much what you'd expect. I ordered waffle fries and they were cut a little too thick/just a little underdone. The Prime Rib sandwich was very tasty and not too fatty - there were some pieces I had to discard, but I am much pickier than the average prime rib eater. This time I went with the sweet potato fries and they appeared to be hand-cut and were cooked well. Staff has been friendly and there seem to be a lot of regulars. Prices can be just a touch high (my happy hour Spotted Cow was $5 - that's usually what I pay at most for a full-price SC tap downtown). I saw they've added a Beyond Meat veggie patty to their options; a Boca patty is free, but a Beyond Meat patty will add $4 to your burger. As for ambiance, it's sports bar meets the Nitty Gritty. If I lived in the area I think it'd be a fun place to watch the game, whichever game it may be. read more
