It looked hopeless so I called Starwood, a tree service that claims professional services. From their website: "We have team members who are ISA-certified arborists with years of experience in the industry. You can depend on our skills and expertise to get the job done right." The first thing I'm told in person by the representative, with a straight face, is they charge a minimum of $950. This is without even inspecting the bush. I ask if he'd like to take time out and actually take a look, so he manages a short walk to the rear of the house and tells me the tree is dead. They can trim it off to the ground and rake the existing stones over the area. I could do that with a chain saw in 5 minutes. I told the guy thanks but no thanks. I've been in business for years so don't show up cocky, arrogant and obnoxious and expect to get work. So, I decide to wait, continue to treat the bush and it begins to recover. This Spring the bush has fully recovered full of leaves, and I expect it may bloom. Starwood claims to have certified arborists. I imagine they should go back to school.

And I do mean last minute; once there was already snow on the ground! Once the snow melted, they were here in days to skillfully handle what I'm too lazy to do. I'm the only dummy on my block with a bunch of old-growth trees on their property (yes, my lawn-fussy neighbors hate me). There are a TON of leaves. The year I did the job myself, I lost count after forty (40!) lawn & leaf bags filled. Mike & the Top Cut crew made our life so much easier, and did a perfect job! And the price was surprisingly reasonable. No, really! I'm annoyed that there aren't many reviews for Top Cut. They deserve a chance to earn your business. The Tree Dudes took down a large 100+ year old tree for us. The tree was on the property line with…read morea neighbor, hanging over their house. The tree had cracks and was in danger of coming down on its own. The neighbor was difficult and wouldn't grant access to the property on their side of the tree, denying the crew a safe work environment. The Tree Dudes accommodated my neighbor's wishes and was able to bring down the tree safely while only working from 1 side. The crew members that did the job were very friendly and professional, cleaned up after themselves, and did a marvelous job. I would strongly recommend The Tree Dudes to anyone.
