Read the whole thing, they're way OVERCHARGING FOR simple fixes! $230+ Hourly rate I was quoted for 4 hours of work, I ended up fixing it myself and it took me less than 45 minutes. And I'm no mechanic. Made an appt to have an alarm fixed that stated the vehicle wasn't in park. Get 3 emails confirming my appt, and scheduled loaner vehicle. Scheduled it in Kellogg, because I wanted to look at a few vehicles to possibly replace mine. Show up, and the Front Desk Lady (very helpful and nice, the only good part of this review) informs me I have no appt in their system and they are out of loaners. Show her the emails, and thankfully she checks and gets my truck looked at rather quickly. Then I'm informed that it's a "Defective Park Position Switch", and it would be 4+ HOURS of labor. I get a quote at $950! I had already found the part online and it was less than $30! So a $230 HOURLY LABOR RATE?!? I declined them fixing it. I went home and it TOOK ME LESS THAN 45 MIN I had the steering column apart, the park position switch fixed, took it for a test drive and a few parking tests, the steering column put back together, and my tools put away! ME! Someone whose mechanical/vehicle knowledge doesn't extend past oil changes, tire changes, and replacing the windshield fluid! I CHANGED IT IN 1/4 OF THE TIME it would take DAVE SMITHS CERTIFIED MECHANICS?! I call Bull! You guys are robbing people! All I had to do was watch a YouTube video and needed a screwdriver, and socket. I 100% won't be buying a new vehicle here now. Any service I need I'll go to a local Post Falls/CDA mechanic instead of you wasting my time for me driving all the way over there, telling me I don't have an appointment when I clearly have proof, not having a loaner that I reserved and then trying to absolutely bamboozle me.

I was completely up side down in the car I had, Chandler, James, and Al were amazing. They got me out of it without getting "hosed". Gave me a great deal on an extended warranty too. Then we came back and bought a new Corvette. Chandler goes above and way beyond what he does to make sure you're comfortable and feel good about your decision. I will travel from western Washington to buy a car here!

Made a deal over the phone on a new 2026 GMC Canyon. Drove 7.5 hours to pick it up on 1/5/2026. When I went to sign paperwork, finance manager Raymond Routh had a $4,500 warranty added on top of what I was supposed to pay for the truck. When I told him "no" on the warranty, he said that this is an added option they do that would not come out of my pocket and that it doesn't go on your loan. He gave me no option to check a box saying no. At the end of everything, this $4,500 was added on top of my loan. When I went back in to tell him I wasn't going to pay for this, he told me that the finance company requires it and that I can cancel it after my first payment. I had no option but to be stuck with the added warranty that he told me I would not have to pay for. When I got home, I called the finance company ( Santander ) and they informed me that they do not require any added warranty for my loan, so basically Raymond Routh lied to me. Then when I tried emailing and calling Raymond Routh, he never answered or returned my calls. My salesman DJ, finally got the AUL warranty cancelled on 1/14/2026 and told me it would take up to 6 weeks and my $4500.00 would be refunded towards the lender. Now it has been 6 weeks and still haven't seen my refund. Once again, I left several emails / calls to Raymond Routh and get "0" responses. I will follow up when I get my refund for the AUL warranty but would strongly urge not to buy from this dealership. The salesman, DJ, was good to deal with but the Finance manager Raymond Routh is a crook.

I recently bought a new Ram truck and live in California. When I got home and registered it, the dealership shorted me by $641.00. $333.00 was a mis calculation and the other $308.00 was the heavy weight fee for the truck. So far nothing from them. We agreed on a price out the door and when I got home it was clearly more then we agreed on. Has anyone else had this problem with Dave Smith when buying out of state? read more

I truly don't know how they are still in business. I purchased a vehicle from them back in December (4 months ago). First, my front driver tire fell off while I was driving, roughly 150 miles after purchasing it. I was going about 30 mph at the time and about to get onto the freeway. When I called to tell them what had happened they said they will take care of it. I had it towed to their shop in Spokane and it took them 3 weeks to get it fixed. After they put everything back together they couldn't get the tire pressure monitor system to work for that tire so they said they need to order a new one. Almost two months go by and I haven't heard from them to see if it came in so I call them and they say that it came in. So I have my appointment scheduled to get that all taken care of. The dealership in Spokane notified me that Kellogg didn't do any of their safety checks with this truck and that they had to fix quite a bit of stuff while it was there getting the tire & rim replaced. Second, when we went to pick up the truck they didn't have all the paperwork we needed to fill out at the time. So they supposedly sent it out 2 months after I purchased the vehicle. They didn't call me or anything, I had to find out that they needed additional paperwork by calling them to ask when I would receive my plates. Jennifer in titles was very rude and said that she would send another one out. When I received it, it didn't have a return envelope so I dropped it off at the Spokane location. They said they would get it over to her. Two weeks later I call and she says she never received anything and that no one at the Spokane store knows what happened to it. So she sends me another one and I get it back to her and she gets everything sent to the auto licensing place. They inform me that the dealership did not correctly fill out the paperwork correctly or even know what they were doing so now it's been 4 months and I still don't have license plates and can't get an extension for the temp tag. read more

I recently purchased a new Jeep from this location and have found the staff that were so helpful when I was purchasing completely unavailable to me. It's like they got their money and now they don't care. Last week I was stranded at a restaurant as the drivers seat of my Jeep was stuck in the ejection position and a metal piece was found under the seat. I called tue CDA and Kellogg locations on sat on hold for hours in a loop. I tried back in the morning and had a chat online with a CSR that assured me I would receive a cal back. No one has ever called me back and tomorrow it will be one week since this happened. I even called the sales person whom I dealt with directly and left a voicemail. He never called me back. read more

I've never had to work so hard to try and give someone $70k to sell me a pickup. I called and finally talked to a salesman on April 7th and explained everything I had for a trade and what I wanted. He said he'd call me back at the end of the week or the first part of the following. Since then I've left three messages and sent two emails requesting he get back to me as he had said he would. I even asked someone on the phone to please have him call me. No response. Not only is this completely rude and poor customer service, it also tells me I've dodged a bullet. I almost entrusted my confidence and business in a company who deals in volume and so seemingly cares little about losing business every once in a while. I was willing to drive 12 hours to do a cash deal with my trade but now I wouldn't cross the street to do business with you no matter how much I would save. What's the saying? "If someone shows you who they are, believe them". read more

I do not recommend Dave Smith Motors. They will tell you over and over again that they are the #1 Dodge Dealership in the world.... their customer service would say otherwise. Their new salesman and his manager that were helping us were condescending and like to try and make you feel like you have no idea what you are talking about. At one point in time the salesman was sending us pictures of trucks they just got in and one of them I knew right off the bat was out of the price range that we discussed. And I reminded him of that and said "that one looks like it is out of our price range" and his response was "you're probably right". That's like telling your realtor that you are looking for a $500,000 house and they take you to look at a million dollar home... why would you waste someone's time and show them something you know they don't want? He sent us information on another truck and I Kelly Blue Booked the value and KBB valued the truck at $5,000 less than what they were asking. I pointed this out, and I understand that they are trying to make money but the reaction I got was them telling me once again I have no idea what I'm talking about. They told me I was being unrealistic and that they have no idea where I'm getting my numbers from. Then they proceeded to send me their books that included their Kelly Blue Numbers and guess what, we got the same exact numbers showing that they were pricing it $5k over what it was even worth. I was also told that if we go anywhere else that "you will end up regretting your purchase". Last I checked Dave Smith wasn't the only "reputable" place that sells vehicles. After all of the issues, I asked for my deposit back on Friday and 3 days later I checked in to see if I was being refunded. They sent me a receipt saying my deposit was put in for a refund on that day. So they didn't refund my deposit the day I asked them to. Thursday I got another paper sent to me saying that my refund was submitted on that day. It has now been a week since I requested a refund and I still have not seen anything and I honestly don't even know when or if they actually submitted my refund. I would rather spend my money somewhere where the employees aren't condescending and don't act like they above everyone else. As a female in the automotive industry I see this type of bad service all the time, it's sad. Long story short, I would not recommend Dave Smith Motors to anyone. read more

I had heard a lot about Dave Smith Motors in the way of saving some money. I hadn't heard of their reputation as a good customer service business. I assumed they would be good to work with. I ordered a truck and paid the $1000 deposit that they required after explaining exactly what I was going to do with the truck and what I needed on the truck. Once they got my deposit it was all about deception and trying to keep me in the dark that the truck that I ordered would be what I wanted and needed. After multiple attempts to discuss with my salesman and their parts manager I went to another dealer and asked the same questions only to get straight answers. The truck I ordered wouldn't be able to accept some of the items that I told my salesman that I needed. The dealer I spoke with told me everything in about five minutes where my salesman and the parts manager at Dave Smith Motors drug it out for months trying to stall until the truck arrived. When I brought it to the attention of the salesman of course they wouldn't refund me and when I brought it to the attention of the Sales manager at Dave Smith Motors, he said he would get back to me and Suprise Suprise.... he never did. They must really need $1000.00 to be that deceptive. My review is this, saving a few bucks on sales tax isn't worth being lied to!! No stars for this scam business. read more

So my company purchased a 2016 Chevy 2500 a few years ago and I am just getting around to leaving a review. The truck was purchased new and they also added on a 5th wheel hide able hitch. Unfortunately when I went to use it we tested the electrical hookup and found it wasnt working properly so I took it in to our local dealer. They looked at the work and told me the work had not been done properly. We paid 600 bucks to have them fix the wiring. I contacted the manager at Dave Smith who refused to accept responsibility less than a year after we purchased the truck. Needless to say, our company will not be purchasing from them again! read more

Update: Did absolutely nothing to fix this problem and inconvenience or nothing to even make it right. Simply, a sorry no rock rails for you. They gave me my money I paid back but after 3 months of back and forth and no replies or rock rails. Hands down the WORST costumer service I've ever had. It's a shame I wasted 500 dollars on a plane flight to go buy a car from them just to get the worst car buying experience. Thanks Dave Smith don't promise things to customers if you can't follow through So I am very upset and BEYOND frustrated at this point. I purchased my 2018 Jeep Early August and along with that, I also purchased accessories. My salesman was Rocky... my dad has always bought cars from you guys and had great experiences. I got the wrong salesman for me. My transaction has been everything BUT smooth.. I first reached out to rocky via email on August 27th two weeks after purchasing my car. I asking on a eta on the rock rails i had purchased. Responded over text 3 days later saying he would check on them, never responded. I texted him the next week on Sept 4th. "hey I have'nt heard back from you about the rock rails? also was my Jeep supposed to come with a little tool kit?" no response. I call him 2 days later and they left him a note to call me. he texted me "sorry call ya in a few minutes" ..... never called.. 2 weeks later call to speak to a manager about what was going on. Never got contacted by anyone. I called at least 3 times to ask to speak to someone about what the hell was going on because no one is giving me answers, no one ever got back to me. I then got a hold of accessories. The guy there was helpful and apologetic saying that it would be a couple days and he would let rocky know. Rocky texted me on Sept 20th. "I'm going back up to see if there are any rails yet. Text you in a few" ..... never did. Sent him a question mark. and he says. "talking to the accessories manager to build another show keep so i can take the parts. I'll know more in the am" Texted me in the morning "I believe I am looking at them right now. my response "Okay so are they getting sent out today? Also dont forget about the Jeep tool kit" He said "will get sent out Monday. Tool kit should be on the way I'll check. Monday comes and I texted him "So did my rock rails get sent out today?" His response. Not sure Ill check. You guessed again.. no reply. I sent him a message that reads as follows "So? It would be nice to have better communication and keep me updated. You have been pretty forgetful and hard to get a hold of. I just want my stuff that I purchased and was promised to me. I've been frustrated lately because no on is giving me answers or even simply getting back to me or checking in. Not something that feels great especially when you invest 36 grand into a car. You ask for a 10 star review but give me 1 star service. Responded the next day "Im sorry. Things have been really hard for me lately. I never forgot about you. Ill get it handled today. Im on the verge of divorce and it hard to stay focused on other things. Ill take care of it today" I texted him later that day "so any updates on my parts. And nothing. So here I am writing this just wanting to know when the hell my rock rails I purchased almost 2 months ago are going to get sent to me. I was really hoping for a good car buying experience with you guys especially with having to travel and purchase airfare just to buy from you. Rocky 100% ruined my experience, aside from his neglect and letting personal problems get in the way of his job, he also reeks of cigarettes and I couldnt wait for my test drive to be over so he would get out of my new car. I love my Jeep, Its been the perfect car, I just want to know when my Jeep tool kit is getting sent as well as my rock rails. I can't believe how annoying and hard this has been just to get answers. This shouldn't be happening to any customer. I could have ordered my accessories on amazon prime and got them in two days. I buy them from you and can't even get an answer when I'm gonna get them, two months later.. I submitted this on Dave Smith website almost two weeks ago and nobody reached out to me. And I've called the dealership numerous of times and they say they will find out and get back to me and never do. read more

I won't be shopping with Dave Smith again. I made a deposit on a vehicle that sounded promising to help secure it as I got more information. My sales associate assured me this was the best way to secure a vehicle while I found out more information about it and talked with financing departments to see if this was going to be a feasible option for myself. Not only did I get the least knowledgeable person I have ever met as an associate, but the manager I finally sought out never returned my phone calls. Instead, he talked to the sales lady about the problems I briefly mentioned in a message and reprimanded her leaving her to call me back flustered more so than previously. She told me about getting bumped down if she didn't meet her numbers and that I WAS GOING TO MAKE OR BREAK THAT. I'm sorry, but that is not my responsibility and I felt so awkward and AWFUL for being out in that place. After three weeks of run around trying to get financed worked out, more pictures and videos of the truck (wasn't able to travel to test drive) I ended up receiving a call stating that I either had to sign papers that night or lose the truck. THREE WEEKS and I had received nothing I asked for, didn't even know that I had been approved, and when I called the finance department for myself they were astounded I didn't know the details of the deal yet bc they had been told by my sales associate I had. I ended up signing bc it was a decent price and the exact truck I wanted, but believe me had I not been caught so off guard by the urgency to sign I would have passed solely due to the miscommunications and lack of customer service I received. Then, I got my truck delivered and the a/c system they said they just fixed all up doesn't work (I live in Phoenix az, it's 103 today), it's a short bed not a long bed (pics posted online didn't have angles you could for sure tell but I was told it was a long bed, and never got more photos), the tires are so worn out it's barely safe, and the brakes need done. To top it all off I went to register it today and I have to send the check back and have it resent because they wrote out the wrong amount and now I'll probably end up having to redo parts of the deal bc the sales tax/registration was financed. What a mess. I guess value lot means "we don't care how we treat you because the commission isn't that great and we don't need to disclose certain things because you're getting a cheap vehicle". read more

Long Distance buying can possibly save a lot but for me it was quite the headache! I tried for over a month to make sense of a deal I was promised on the last day of the month to help them reach a sales quota. I was Told "Trust me everything will work out," Then i was sent several window stickers that were not the truck i was asking for. I was even sent a 3500 instead of a 2500 like we had discussed. The sales man seemed bothered once i had made my down payment when i was trying to get information about how the deal and the financing would be processed and trying to get the deal that was discussed. I am sure they have great sales people and they have made many killer deals for others but for me, it was a real runaround with not receiving responses to emails or call backs then getting excuses like "I left a message" and no message being there. read more

Best car buying experience that I have ever had. Absolutely no hassle. The entire staff was professional and accommodating. They gave me their best price from the beginning and it was a better price by far than what other dealers had quoted. The car that I wanted was at another dealer and they were able to get the car very quickly. The courtesy driver that picked us up at the airport was friendly and courteous. So we're the office staff when we arrived. The accessory and finance staff were very helpful too. Our salesman Cole did an excellent job of coordinating the purchase from beginning to end and followed up with us several days later to make sure we were satisfied with our purchase. We would definitely by another vehicle from Dave Smith Motors. read more

Big word of CAUTION when shopping and buying from Dave Smith. I bought a 2014 RAM. They are quick to help and sell you the car/truck. But immediately, when you make your deposit and worse after you drive the auto off the lot, customer service is out the door. No further emails responses from the salesman Travis. Promised a call for the parts department as I purchases side steps for the truck. Never a call or an email after multiple messages and emails. Frankly, they just dont give a shit after they sell you the car. How can Chrysler continue to support such a dealer. I would read all the one star reviews, I have, and they are all true. Save the pain and heart aches and the money saved by purchasing from these people is not worth it. Do not trust anyone at this dealership. From sales person, to managers, to parts department to finance. They are all crooked, shallow, and unprofessional. If you want to be treated like a peon, youve found the right place. read more

Don't buy from Dave Smith Motors. I flew up with a friend to buy 2 trucks and was there 5. I asked the manager if we could come back tomorrow and he got upset and told me the we couldn't do the deal and was very rude. He said he was a cop and sure acted just that. We ask for a shuttle and they would provide one for us. He just stopped behind us with his arms crossed and gave us mean looks. Am a business owner and you don't treat people like this. I'll never buy a truck from them. I buy a truck a month so I'll give my business to someone else. And I will continue to bad mouth this business as long as a they suck 3 weeks no call back the police officer that works their should be fired the owner should grow up and know wats going on in he's dealer ship about this police officer. Matthew is right! Funny thing is I have been by Lithia one too many times. And when given the chance the division manager didn't make it right and blew me off' till they saw my bad comments in yelp then they wanted to know if they could make it right. I told them they did nothing again...They had their chance! Back to business! I bought a couple cars at Dave Smith and they beat the California Prices by last time 18 thousand!!! And their parts always beat California prices. I just talked to a local dealer for a part that they chewed me out because it doesn't exist and I am wrong. Funny Dave Smith had no problem finding it! Now I have ordered many parts from them for example Drivers side mirror on my Dodge 2500 which keeps on being taken off by drivers in California because it is too challenging to stay in their own lanes when they pass me. Locally the part is 700. At Dave smith it is 400. Not hard to decide when shipping is part of the deal too. It is well worth flying into Idaho and they will pick you up at the airport. No BS to tricks! I hate dealerships for the most part but I love Dave Smith! They have earned it. And for Lithia dealerships. I HATE YOU WITH A PASSION. You have earned that!!! read more

I purchased a 2013 ford f150 3.5 a couple months ago and the process was seamless. The problem is, I live in butte mt, so it was tough to get there and test drive along with inspections and all that. I heard nothing but good things about Dave smith so I figured I would take a chance. they tried to sell me a 3500-dollar warranty that covered 2 years or 30000 miles and financing that just didn't seem worth it to me. I figured it keep that money in the bank to use it if something went wrong. as soon as I got home the check engine light came on. I read the codes and I had a cylinder 6 miss fire. spark plugs were not only autolights (not great for a ford) but so corroded that you could tell they hadn't been changed in a long time. Both map sensors were bad. 2 air door actuators were bad and had to take the whole dash apart to get to them. The exhaust needs replaced because there are holes in the mufflers.....and both CV axles are bad and clinking horribly when turning left and right. I called my salesman KEITH (the only salesman there named Keith btw) and he said he would get ahold of service and see if they did anything and he would see if anything could be covered for my trouble. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard a thing. THANKS DAVE SMITH MOTORS. YOU GOT YOUR MONEY AND BECAUSE I TRUSTED THAT YOU SOLD GOOD VEHICLES AND STAND BEHIND YOUR SERVICE, IM STUCK FIXING IT MYSELF. I'm not mad but you have re enforced my view on salesman and dealerships that they only care about the sale and you are all shady. Hey...the service was good....they are all very nice there but shady as all and Id rather stay local to get screwed instead of having to drive 3 hours away to get the same treatment :) read more

My husband and I put a deposit down on a 2013 Jeep Wrangler 3 weeks ago. Since then Dave Smith found us appropriate financing and everything has been funded/signed. As of today we still haven't received our vehicle. We chose to have it shipped since we are in a different state. We received various arrival dates and various shipping dates none of which have been accurate. It has been almost impossible to get call backs from their team. You have to request to speak with a manager or you aren't going to get any help. I suggest emailing versus voicemails that way you have some sort of documentation. We were told 2 weeks ago our original $500 deposit would be refunded and would take about a week to process. We have yet to receive that back nor can anyone give us a date as to "when it was refunded" or a date when they plan on refunding it. We are very disappointed on how this whole process has gone because we have always heard GREAT things about Dave Smith Motors and we were hopeful for the same experience. Best of luck to future buyers! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dave Smith and their operation! The whole buying process was fun. During the initial phone call & quote I was impressed with the professionalism of the salesperson. The price we were quoted was no hassle and $2500 less than the best local price I could negotiate. We were picked up at the airport and taken to the dealership. All of the staff we encountered appeared to enjoy their job, and treated us professionally and with a smile. I normally do not leave dealer license plate ads on my new truck - but I have because I want people to ask about Dave Smith, and why I travelled so far to buy a new truck. Bottom line it was no hassle, enjoyable, fun, not to mention I saved a bunch of money too! read more

Buyer beware, read the reviews they are true. We spent 3 days on the phone with the lovely Kaylin who was amazing and she found the exact truck I was looking for. We purchased plane tickets to come all the way from Los Angeles to purchase a truck but as soon as credit was pulled the customer service ended. The level of service did a complete 360 , He provided, by far, the worst auto sales experience I have ever received. As a business owner myself I have dealt with many people like him, just never in Idaho. I've spent the past five days trying to get a hold of a manager and it's becoming increasingly obvious nobody wants me to be able to complain so the messages never make it to anyone's office. This company is an absolute and utter disgrace to the business world and they should be ashamed. Be careful with these people. read more

A Sonny Recommendation Last week my wife and I bought a new Ram truck. (Pardon the lengthy review -- this is my first attempt at an online review) Some people say, "the salesperson can make all the difference" in a good or bad shopping experience. I always appreciate a professional, well-trained, caring and considerate salesperson. Well, that certainly was the case for us while buying this new truck. We shopped throughout the Portland Metro area, negotiated at several dealerships, had good experiences with several salespeople (and several bad experiences with scum salespeople), but nothing compared to the price, accessories and customer service we experienced 340 miles away in Idaho. Several friends and customers recommended we check-out this dealership in Idaho, well-known for being the lowest price, highest volume dealership in the U.S. Our salesperson, Sonny Sokolis, at Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, Idaho made our experience the easiest and most fun truck buying experience we've ever had. On a scale from 1 to Fabulous-10, Sonny was outstanding. Best Price = 10 (Saved thousands of dollars) Best trim package and accessories = 10 ! Delightful and caring people in every department = 10 ! Motivated to help us travel from Portland, Oregon = 10 ! Helped us feel welcome, comfortable, and important = 10 ! Got things done quickly = 10 ! Truthful, accurate and knowledgeable = 10 ! Friendly, personable, and seriously interested in our well-being = 10 ! Delivered the truck as negotiated and promised = 10 ! Eager and patient while explaining the numbers and financing = 10 ! And, we experienced the same with every person in the dealership. Overall feeling = euphoric !!! Most of us can handle sub-par customer service, as long as we get the Lowest Price. We got outstanding service AND the best price. But, the price is what peaked my interest in the first place, what kept us interested along the way and what ultimately motivated us to travel a great distance to buy our truck from Sonny. We first inquired on their website and were fortunate enough to be contacted by Sonny (I recommend not leaving it to chance -- just call him directly). His first price on the exact same truck (trim level and accessories) was thousands lower than the lowest price I could negotiate at three local dealerships. It got much better than that, and because it seemed too good to be true, we confirmed all the details via email before traveling there. They also made it easy for us,by helping with travel and accommodations. We have driven the truck several days and everything has been awesome. No regrets and we feel very fortunate to have saved thousands, gotten the exact truck we wanted and enjoyed the entire experience. Our friends, family, and my customers love it and several have said they will be contacting Sonny soon. I highly recommend Sonny! Although I never met him before this, we could certainly be good friends. Knowing what I know now, I would honestly travel from anywhere in the U.S. to little Kellogg, Idaho to buy a car or truck from this dealership. And, looking for an excuse to drive a new vehicle home?, through some of the prettiest country in the USA, is just icing on the cake. We will definitely vacation there soon. The dealership is very close to Spokane, Coeur d'Alene, Lake Hayden and Silverwood Theme Park -- absolutely gorgeous country and well-worth a few extra days of site-seeing. Here's his contact information: Sonny Sokolis, Dave Smith Motors sonnys@usautosales.com http://www.davesmith.com 1-800-635-8000 ext. 1304 Ram, Jeep, Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, Buick, Chrysler and Dodge. Very disappointed. I own the only ram 2500 without tow mirrors. Even after I paid extra for the black group appearance. No other dealer says they would turn me loose without tow mirrors. Dave Smith would never call me back for over 3 weeks, and when they did nothing but gas. When I picked up the truck the power seats were not hooked up. I bought the mud carpet savers and they gave me ones for a Honda Civic.... The money I saved is now going toward tow mirrors. By the way every local dealer would have noticed the mistake and changed them out for me. SUPPORT LOCAL!! read more

Absolute best car buying experience my husband & I have ever had. From our initial online inquiry to driving off the lot in our new truck, Luke went above & beyond to make this a seamless process. We were on a time crunch w/traveling from Missoula to Spokane for a family weekend, they were so respectful & accommodating of our time & made every effort to make it as quick & easy as possible. I honestly can not say enough great things about Luke H, our salesman, & his team. We will never buy another car anywhere else! read more

I'd like to express my complete lack of service that I have received from your dealership. I can't even say that I received bad service because I haven't even gotten the chance to talk to anyone. I bought a 2018 dodge 2500 and I am looking to put a flatbed on it. After about a week of leaving voicemails for Noah, because I can never get Luke or Noah on the phone, I still have not relieved a call back. So, yesterday may 8th, I asked to speak to the accessories manager... surprise surprise another voicemail. After leaving yet another voice no call back. Today, may 9th called with the hopes to talk to the GM of the dealership, wasn't around no surprise I'm sure he or she is a busy person; asked if I could leave a voicemail and that wasn't even an option. At least the gal that answered today was busy enough laughing with a coworker that she forgot to put me on hold so I got to listen to the rest of her conversation before she tried to get the GM. Thanks Dave Smith team, I appreciate the worthless effort I've put in trying to spend money with you. So, I tried again after a lot of research I'm ready to pull the trigger ok ordering a flatbed I tried dave smith again just for sh*ts and giggles told the gal that answered I never get calls back so she put a "priority" on it. Never heard back again. Dave smith motors can bl*w me and my hard earned money I'll never do business with them and certainly will make sure everybody I talk to looking for a new or used vehicle how piss poor their service is. read more

I would give these guys zero stars if I could. I have bought five trucks from them in the past two years. When I went to try to buy another they gave me a fair price but the truck was three weeks from showing up. It was listed as new on the lot on the website. If it's not there don't say that it is. They had a truck very similar on the lot for five grand more but refused to work on the price at all. Apparently my repeat business is not very important. Never again will I buy a truck from these guys. They also never call anybody back when they say they will. The guy I was working with was condescending and rude as well. Never again!!! read more

Do not waste your time! I was clear on the financing I wanted from day one. Was quoted a price, paid $1100 down to get the vehicle secured. Almost a week later I found out the financing I had asked for couldn't be done with the price I was quoted, I could have the lower price OR the special financing. I found it odd when I asked for something in writing, I got the run around. Now it makes sense. The guy I talked to in the end was unprofessional. Also, as a business owner myself, if we quote a price, we honor it NO MATTER WHAT. It's called integrity and good business practice. Especially when there's recorded calls to verify our mutual agreement, which matched exactly what I said. I wish I had listened to all the other one star reviews before I wasted my time and stress here. In addition, someone named Doug, I have no idea his title. Literally didn't e-mail me back for hours and then replied to tell me the salesperson was new and he wasn't losing money because she made a mistake and then finished with "Please don't e-mail me anymore as I am very busy with other customers." I hadn't e-mailed him for like five hours and was done with the conversation, I don't understand his need to even respond with that. A little tacky if you ask me. He made sure to let me know they were the #1 dealer somewhere, if this keeps up, I don't see it lasting long. read more

Took our mini van in to have it looked at for it had a wicked shimmy at 60-70 mph and was chewing up the front tires. Had it alligned twice in a year which never resolved the issue. They said we just needed to balance the tires. They never drove the vehicle to Experience the shimmy for themselves. They did put it on the rack and check underneath, but could not find anything wrong. Took the van to two other auto repair shops in Coeur d'Alene and Both found the right cvc joint/boot bad, and right front bearing gone with a 1/2" play in it and some other part that was definitively bad. Had it repaired at Loyd's Auto in Cd'A and shimmy is gone. Do NOT take a vehicle to Dave Smith Motors for repair...they hire the Cheapest labor they can find and their technicians don't know or don't have the experience to work on cars!!! Will NEVER take a vehicle to them again!!!! read more

My son went to Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg to look for a new (used) pickup. He found one he liked and put a $500 deposit down on it while he waited for his insurance company to finish the settlement on an accident that totaled his vehicle. He filled out the online loan application with Dave Smith Motors and was told the same day that because he was in between places to live that they would not be able to finance the vehicle. He was two weeks from moving into his new place. We then went to our local bank and secured a loan to purchase the pickup that he had put the $500 deposit on. The loan officer said that he could not purchase the vehicle..unless he had check in hand! How ridiculous when you have been pre-approved for the loan. After going back and forth for almost 5 hours and 2 phone calls back to our bank, (they came through in flying colors!) he was able to complete the purchase. This was so unacceptable. Joe was the only person during this entire transaction that took charge and completed everything. Everyone else was unprofessional. Sad to say this left a bitter taste in our mouth. read more

My wife and I bought our new car (we've purchased many used ones) from Dave Smith Motors in Idaho on our trip to Silverwood. My father-in-law had purchased three in the past. We did our research called ahead and spoke with Forest. We picked the 2013 Malibu base model. When we got there the car was ready to go, but after seeing the next model up we changed our minds. They rewrote the deal, and while we waited for the paperwork to catch up they bought breakfast! Love the Car! But, better than the car was the fact that they followed up and gave us amazing service! We are looking forward to buying my new truck from them in 3 years. The guys to talk to are Forest and Derek. They are simply the best. PS - To show you what a class act this dealership is: When we upgraded and changed our vehicle there was a mix up with the VIN numbers of the cars. While it was minor, they FedEx'd all the paperwork and it was straighten out, but they went above and beyond by sending us a check for the first months car payment! I have said many times that any business can make a mistake, but the business that keeps you coming back is the one that fixes it promptly and with making sure you get more than you pay for. PSS. As I have re-read this it looks like I might work for them, well, if they were in Redmond, WA I would! read more

I placed two $500 deposits on trucks that were being shipped in, and was told by Dion that if I decided against purchasing a truck, my money would be refunded. I was then told by my doctor that I could not fly to Idaho during the COVID pandemic due to my recent health diagnosis. Upon telling Dion I would not be able to come to Idaho, he told me that they would NOT refund my money, as per the 'deposit policy' that was emailed to me. However, I never received an email confirming any deposit, nor a deposit policy from this company. I asked Dion to please re-send the deposit receipt and the 'deposit policy'. I never received a response from him, nor did I receive a deposit receipt or deposit policy. I was very disappointed in the lack of integrity and non-responsiveness of this company. read more

Shitty salesman and shitty customer service! DO NOT SHOP HERE! My husband put a deposit down on a truck while we were out of state to hold it until we could get back to look at it. We specifically asked the salesman Eddie if the deposit was refundable. His only response (through text might I add) was "Yes". We put the $500 deposit down and were planning on going to Dave Smith Kellogg a few days later when we returned. We had several other trucks we had appointments to look at that day and we ended up finding one that was a newer year with less miles at a different dealership. We informed Eddie we wouldn't be in to look at the truck and wanted to get our deposit back. He informed us we needed to speak with Jake the manager to get our money back. We called Jake for days and days until we finally got ahold of him. We were informed that their policy is that in order to get your deposit back you must come in and look at the vehicle you have a hold on. NO ONE TOLD US THIS POLICY AT ALL!!!!!!!! Jake told us he had to speak with upper management to see if they could make an "exception". That was the last time we spoke to Jake. We called and called and left messages and NOTHING. I even asked the receptionist to speak to his manager and "he is the manager". Okay then who did he need to get approval from?!!?! After 2 weeks of them holding our money I FILED A COMPLAIN WITH THE BBB. The NEXT day someone from Dave Smith emailed me saying she would look into it. Funny. She never returned my email apologizing or letting me know the deposit was refunded. The BBB informed me it was returned and the company "apologized for the confusion". There was no confusion. Your employee neglected to inform us of the policy. That's not confusion that's neglect. During this whole process Eddie told us "Oh so it's my fault?!" In the most sarcastic tone. Actually yes it was your fault. DO NOT SHOP HERE. THIS COMPANY IS WORTHLESS IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND JAKE IS A COWARD WHO NEVER RETURNED OUR CALLS. Can't believe this company is in business. What a freaking JOKE. read more

I was looking up trucks over here at Dave Smith Motors, since my Uncle had bought a few work trucks from them in the past, so I thought about flying up and taking a drive back down to Texas.. The receptionist put me in touch with a salesperson named Chandler Day, who gave me a twenty minute sales pitch over the phone that impressed the hell out of me. He was thorough, not rushed, and explained everything perfectly. He even offered to line me up with a hotel room that they get discounts on. It was the perfect pitch. The best I've ever heard. I wanted to give him my business, I really did. With school starting back up on Monday, my wife didn't really care for me flying up to Idaho and driving back to Texas and making a trip out of it. Maybe she thought I wouldn't come home! But, when I spoke to him and told him that I would be purchasing from a dealer down here in South Texas, he still offered to answer any questions I might have with the truck EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T BUY FROM HIM. The guy is a class act. I don't do reviews on here, but damn, that's the least I could do for him. He's a sharp dude. I really am impressed with his persistence, knowledge of product, pitch delivery, and follow-up. 5 Stars all day. If you get to read this: Thank you Chandler. You are a true professional. read more

We were on Vacation in Couer d' alene and we were looking for a truck to pull a big 5th wheel. I have heard lots of great things about this dealer. Even a good friend has purchased 3 vehicles from them. We drove from our rv park to Dave Smith. Would not believe out of 400 Ram trucks this Dealer did not have ONE Ram that is Advertised to tow 31000 lbs!. They did however have alotof "KIDS TRUCKS".. you know, those JACKED UP TRUCKS WITH HUGE TIRES AND OFF ROAD LIGHTS. I said," Dave Smith is one of the largest dealers in the country, why dont you have ONE RAM THAT IS USED FOR HEAVY TOWING?" . Their reply, "oh, we make alot more on kids trucks". Nearly all of their trucks were not optioned out.. IE, if they had a hd truck it did not have auto leveling, or were not laramies, or longhorns... oh well, .... read more

However I could not buy the pick up until I had the fifth wheel you can't believe the number of times I called within the number of questions I had. When I finally made my decision. Everything went exactly as the people told me it would my wife and I drove up to Kellogg. We stayed overnight in the local motel picked up they pick up the next day. Everything went just as we were told it would have no problems with the salespeople no problem with the finances and we love the truck. read more

It would seem that my experience with this quasi-criminal organisation is consistent with anyone else on here who has also had a one-star experience. I would also like to point out that I have worked in and out of the automotive industry most of my adult life, and am former dept manager (not sales) of a dealership myself. NEVER, in my life, have I seen such conduct out of a sales dept. And that really, really says something. They have gone through a lot of trouble to earn every word of this honest, and thorough review. I first came in to contact with Dave Smith motors on 05/21/18 after an adolescent salesman named Kobe cold-called me in Seattle trying to sell me a car. This was one of several such calls I received after a different dealership i had made a cursory inquiry with illegally sold my information to about a half dozen random others. I told him what the deal was with that, but I said I would hear him out on some other cars. As my now-deceased father bought no fewer than THREE trucks from this dealer in his life with satisfaction. So, I told Kobe what I wanted, what I had to trade in (all in great detail). He chose a car from inventory (a 2018 Jeep Compass) that fit the bill, but was in the upper echelon of my price range with all assurances it would be fine for financing. All of this was over the phone, where I had to hand-hold him through every bit of the process (I was very assured from the outset that I was either his first customer ever, or his last) as he seemed to have no clue what details were needed as part of this kind of doing business. I had to give him my car's VIN SEVEN times (and he still requested it to be sent by print later that day, not yet having it). When he said he was going to take the info off to finance, I had to text him and give him the rest of the information he would need to doon, as they were ''just about to begin'' on my paperwork process....the day before I was to go get the car. I immediately text Kobe, and tell him of this, and remind him that after the 30th, I lose the incentives. And in a week's time period, I will make a new payment on my existing car, and walk. He says he will get an update from them in the morning. Morning comes, and he says they will have all ready to go by the 2nd. Assuring me not one single parameter of the deal would change regardless (dis-believable as that was). So, I move heaven and earth again at work to make a trip on the 2nd doable. And remind him, that any more surprises will make his managers my new hobby once more. And also mention that the story has changed on a daily basis, and I am not happy one bit about that. He promises an update the next day. Next day comes and goes, no Kobe. I text him the following morning thanking him for the lack of an update. He then claimed that no such promise of an update was made. Which I pointed to in the text right above where he said just that the last time we had talked. I said I WILL be getting updated that day and the next, and that I no longer believe the 2nd to have any importance for them. Another day goes by, no update. I demand that a manager calls me. And he ceases communication mid-conversation. This is the 1st of June mind you. The day BEFORE I was to go get the car. I have to leave a message with his direct manager (Cameron) to call me ASAP. Hours later I get a call from him, and he says he has my file, financing is approved and all ready to go. I ask him to read its contents to me: Not one single detail of financing is what I asked for. And he replies with ''Oh? What did you ask for?'' That earned the only coarse exclamation of the day from me, for which I immediately apologized, as he was new to this matter, and it was not he who had jerked me around for two weeks to date. I told him that was of course unacceptable though, particularly after all of this work and time; ON the day I was to pick up the car to boot. He offered to refund my holding fee, which I assured I would be accepting. And then went on to mention that I will re-visit this car buying matter in some months, with a larger down payment around Labour day sale time. And that after this treatment of someone who came to his dealership because his father had bought SEVERAL cars there in the past, I would not be doing that business anywhere near it. He then got very cross, and hung up on me. I have had no indication nor confirmation of any sort of refund. Much less an apology. I will get whatever authorities I need involved to get my money back. And those that know me know one doesn't want to be in between me and anything I actually feel like doing...such as, when I actually felt like buying a car from the ''number one dealer''. Whom ever from Dave Smith reads this review, you are going to call me first thing in the morning, or you are going to regret it. I do NOT say things I do not mean. I need not waste any more words describing how and how often I was attemptedly screwed over in the course of this all. read more

Warning to anyone wanting to buy at Dave Smith Automotive. This place was a nightmare! We had a truck picked out that we were planning on buying. My husband worked with Owen a sales rep during the initial process over the phone. We are out of state buyers... Ten hours away. Anyhow, the sales rep found the truck we were specifically after and then informed us that they needed a 500.00 deposit. We didn't like that one bit and basically told them that if they wanted to make the sale we were not paying the deposit. Owen's words were "I'll check on this and see how bad the boss wants to make the deal" We did hear back and Owen informed us that the deposit was not needed. His words were " done deal". We also kept all of this correspondence via text just in case. Second complaint... We lined everything out with the deal and we're going to leave the following week. Owen told us that the truck would be there and ready. We called the day before we had made arrangements to leave and Own had no idea where the truck was. Couldn't find it... We stayed in limbo not knowing if we were going to leave (10 hour drive) or not. I wondered if this sales rep would have even called us to let us know the truck was not there yet... So glad we checked. Third complaint.... A couple weeks pass and still no truck. Communication was just plain awful and completely unprofessional. Finally heard back from Owen and got a confirmation on truck arriving. We asked for some pics and that seemed to be complicated as well. We did end up getting a pic after many go- arounds. Fourth issue... We drive all the way to Kelli gg, arriving around 10:00 am. The dealership knew we were coming that day to pick up. When we got there, it seemed very unprofessional, no real greeting or communication. Owen looked frazzled/ confused. We asked to see the truck and he couldn't seem to find it. We waited in the lobby with our three children,(two, six and thirteen) and proceeded to wait, and wait...We weren't expecting to be in and out but what we went through was rediculous. Owen kept saying "I'll be right back" and "shouldn't be too much longer". At 1:00 we still hadn't seen the truck and didn't know what was going on. We demanded to tak with owen's supervisor, "Zig". He looked just as frazzled and acted like he was too busy to talk with us. We quickly looked over some paperwork and discussed our trade/in. He assured us that we would be on the road in no time. All the while we are still waiting to see/ drive this truck. He basically sent us back to the Lobby. 4:00 rolls around, we're still in the lobby with our three kids and got no info. We asked to speak with Owen and Zig again... Still no truck or explanation for what's taking so long. 5:00 comes and we finally get to peek at the truck for a total of two mins. Next complaint..... 5:30 we start the paperwork process. We get almost complete and the finance manager says we need that down payment of 500 to finish off the deal. I inform him that we were told we did not need to hand over any cash... Even had the text as proof. We have a check ready to hand over for our agreed on cost. At this point the finance guy has to call Owen and Zig back in to discuss the 500. Zig's boss Pual now gets involved. Zig and Paul acted like we were more of a pain than a customer ready to hand over some big money. We all had a very heated discussion.... And at that point they gave us some options. Cancel deal, they offered to cover half of the 500 or take a major hit on our trade. None of this sounded good. This was not what was agreed on or what we were told by Owen. We continued to talk/which continued into a yelling match between us Paul and zig. Completely unbelievable... Much dishonesty and unprofessionalism. Needless to say Paul was so completely arrogant he called the deal off. So nine hours later we walked out. Do not buy here! Save yourself a headache.... The three men/boys we dealt with were [non-permissible content removed] and just didn't like us challenging them. It became more of an ego thing than making the sale... Disgusting behavior displayed and pure dishonesty, disorganization and lack of communication! read more

We finally gave Dave Smith a try after all of the negatives we had heard about their company. Dave Smith tried working with us as out of state buyers, until we received the car from the shipping company. Conditions of the sale from Dave Smith were as follows: Vehicle was freshly detailed, vehicle was fully serviced, they would replace summer tires with 10 ply tires and put summer tires in the back of the car for shipment, they would install a three-way battery, block, and oil pan heater, they would pay to ship car to Washington, and they would prepare the vehicle, (fuel level and other requirements), for shipment to Alaska. As we have purchased many vehicles, we said we would not purchase the vehicle if these conditions were not met. Before the sale, the salesman said they would ship and prepare for shipment, detail, service, do service work, but not replace the tires, so we said no sale. The next day, the salesman called back and said they would replace the tires and put the summer tires in the back of the vehicle. So, all of the conditions were met, we agreed to the sale. When we received the car after 3 months, the truck delivery service instantly showed us the report of the damages on the vehicle prior to shipment. Our salesman told us the car was "freshly detailed" and mentioned nothing of the chips, cracks, and dents in the vehicle. However, I did not expect the car to be perfect. But, this could have been mentioned prior to the sale. The salesman also promised us the good, used tires as a condition of the sale of the vehicle, and said they were in the back of the vehicle. There were no tires in the back of the vehicle. We emailed our wonderful salesperson. During email correspondence, he said "Accessories lost your tires, not me", and "you can call Triangle transport for any damages they did". Most importantly, there was very little oil in the car upon arrival. A condition of the sale was the vehicle was freshly serviced. In an email, we were told by the salesman, "As far as I know the oil and filters are changed on all our used rig so yours should have been changed as well". This should be on a sticker or documented. But, he was unable to tell us for sure. Thankfully, I checked and added oil before driving anywhere. During more email correspondences, our salesman replied, (all spelling errors have been left as he wrote them), "I thought the Tahoe was one of the cleanest pre owned Tahoe's I have ever seen. It was a good deal and we gave you a substantial discount and payed for shipping so if you want to send us a check back for all the discounts, shipping and the crevice bill to drop the fuel tank and siphon the gas then I think we are even. Generally people are tickled pink with the vehicles and experience when here. It sounds like you folks are new car buyers that just dint want to spend the $." If the car had arrived as promised, we were on our way to purchase another new company and/or personal vehicle from their dealership. This salesman clearly does not understand how many sales he has just lost for Dave Smith. Not only from our family and business, but everyone we speak to. This salesman was completely rude, did not follow through on his conditions of the sale, and needs some further training in customer service. Even if a customer is wrong, his rudeness and arrogance is completely uncalled for. We would highly advise going elsewhere to purchase new or used vehicles. read more

My steel guy & his wife gave me some great feedback on their experience last Saturday out at Dave Smith..(& they don't do yelp......so..here's what they said): "We were very apprehensive to go to another state to purchase a truck, especially with Dave Smith Autos with the mixed/low reviews we saw..aside from the bit than normal wait time to sign our finance papers...(it was a Saturday..so busy). we are very happy. From the shuttle pick up at the airport, to driving away in our new truck..we were beyond amazed & pleased. We were called & texted at all times before & after the purchase making sure we were happy & ok..at all times. Shuttle Driver-Kind & courteous & knowledgeable. Boston-our sales guy-Kind, attentive & honest & straightforward, caring & beyond helpful. Axel-our stand in sales guy-an exceptionally wonderful guy-positive, caring, helpful, goes above & beyond, even put a big red bow on the truck for us. Jon-in finance-kind & thoughtful. Austin in financing-Amazing--we really cannot say enough about him..he is a true GEM. Some of the low reviews are definitely from lack of knowledge & not doing your homework or a just from a general lack of common sense. Every buyer can look at the car-fax. & Every buyer should take the vin # of the truck/car they are looking at & have their insurance company do a pre-quote on it-if you have a good insurance co. they can tell you right away the vehicle history, claim record etc. on any vin#. Every buyer can put the vin # into nada.com for the value. Every buyer should check out all aspects of what they are thinking of buying, including the finance side so you have no surprises. Every buyer reads the $500 deposit statement before they sign it & the terms on it. Every buyer can confirm & get a response via email & text with Dave Smith auto that all is 100% good to go before they make the trip out. Every buyer can get the personal cell phone of the salesman they are dealing with. Every buyer can confirm 100% with their sales guy if the truck/car is available & will be 100% ready. Every buyer can negotiate & even on the "bits" if something is wrong once your there. Every buyer can ask for a more experienced sales or finance person if the one you have isn't up to par. Look around at your local dealer- Especially in Utah at the price per odometer reading & year. Not one single Utah dealer could touch what Dave Smith offered. Not one-we researched for 4 months. Look around at your local dealer-hear the crickets in the lot? No-one is there-places are empty...Dave Smith's was packed & we had a California firefighter & a couple from Hawaii in our shuttle with us. We are VERY picky & detailed oriented, difficult customers, no matter what we are buying. They came through for us hands down. We are actually still in awe how well it went & how well it all worked out. Axel even texted us on Sunday to make sure we got home ok & all was still good....tell me where you are ever going to get that kind of customer care anywhere? Very rare!.. Thanks again to all out there. " read more

Honestly. This was my favorite place to do business. Until recently. They bent over backwards to help me. I had some tricky situations and they were able to help out.. with what seemed seemlessly. Today I received a call from Wells Fargo. A company that I held a loan through for a vehicle that I traded in with Dave Smith Motors 3/2016. It is now 12 months later and I have been informed that my vehicle I traded in was NOT paid off properly during the trade to the tune of over $9,000 and got sent into a Charge-Off instead of Paid off status of some kind (yes the vehicle was behind payments, but I had a settlement 10-day pay off) . I also received a 1099 in the mail for the same amount from Wells Fargo. I would like to believe that the error falls under Wells Fargo end because they are a shady company to begin with and I fully trusted Dave Smith for business. However, after a very lengthy phone call with Wells Fargo. I do not believe it was on their end. At this point I am at a total loss. I get that people make mistakes, I make them everyone does. But a mistake in this amount.. whether it was paid or reported properly/incorrect etc is detrimental to me or anyone for that matter. Not only does my credit suffer, but not everyone has 9k laying around to fix these kind of errors....I have also called and left a message at the dealership in hopes that we can all resolve this issue in a timely fashion. This is only the tip of the iceberg... again I did business in August 2016. I bought a 2012 Terrain with less the 90k miles on it, oil changed regularly.. that needed not only ONE but TWO new engines by 12/2016. Thank their lucky stars warranty covered that. Unacceptable. It's now Feb 2017 and I was just able to pull the car out of the shop I took it to on 2/15/2017. I also had post dated some checks to come out 2 weeks later for the down payment... the money was not taken out of my account until Oct... 3 Months Later 3 Days in a row.. Granite I had the $3313 dollars in my account to cover these. You would think that the payments would have came through before my FIRST payment I had in Sept 2016 for this vehicle. I will be seeking legal advice on all the above counts if I feel it is necessary. read more

Let me start by saying I'm completely shocked and amazed by this dealership. We are from Spokane WA and went online to truck shop. Found Dave Smith and submitted a form on what we are looking for. The next day got a call from a man named Phillip. Was super polite and helpful. Helped me over the phone find vehicles and look at them online. We found one we liked, but we were hesitant to buy a vehicle online and so far away. Phillip eased our minds explaining we can have it looked at by a mechanic of our choosing. Fast forward, we make the 2 hour trip to Dave Smith, see the car, buy the car without having it looked at. My fault completely, not Dave Smiths. It was a used truck and with buying used vehicles have issues. We get it home have a mechanic run thru it and they find almost $1700 in things wrong. I wasn't to happy. I emailed the manager of the section of the store we bought the car from and explained my dissatisfaction with this truck and the issues. Now I no its buyer beware and sold as is but I was mad. Within minutes Brian H called me and told me that he apologies for this and by no means is this the practice of there company to let a car leave there lot with issues. He told me to find a mechanic, have all the issues fixed and bill them. No cost to me what so ever. So within 2 days of buying the vehicle getting it home finding the problems, they were all fixed and cover by Dave Smith. It didn't take weeks, there was no phone tag, no games, no hassel, no questions asked. This has got to be the best car buying and sales experience I have had with any car lot. Normally it's sorry as is. Can't help you. Blah blah. Not with Dave Smith in Kellogg. I recommend anyone to give them a shot. Talk with Phillip Howard and Brian Hall for a good experience. This is a true and accurate experience. No gimmicks. Thanks guys. David and Samantha from Spokane Wa..... read more

The best dealership experience ever. I searched online and got contacted by Trevor Thomas. From the beginning there was knowledge, understanding of my needs and never any try to steer me into buying something else. He was ultra patient when I explained to him that I had many things going on for me at this same moment in my life and was very upset with some of the dealership I had already dealt with. After one month searching for the right price for my truck, the decision was made to drive all the way to ID. When you get there, they acknowledge you and don't make you wait around. Trevor was even more outstanding in person. We went straight to business. They even got me a better rate then what my credit union of 12 years offered. There are some sales pitches, but no one pushes it too hard and if you decline them, politely, then that's it. They were speedy and friendly all the way. Everyone working there seemed very knowledgeable and satisfied in being there. When we got to talk to the finance person, another surprise. Austin Garrett is the easiest finance person I ever had to talk to. Knows what he is doing, understands and explains everything you ask, and I asked a lot. Dave Smith was the best all around. Shame on the rip offs that we have here in Portland, Washington and anywhere close. They pull your teeth out to give you a truck. They are the ones that give car dealers the bad reputation they have. Dave Smith is on the other end of the spectrum. They earn your business and your respect. You feel confident that you can refer them to friends and family. This was my third new vehicle purchase and the most pleasant one. I will drive any friend of mine, who's looking to buy a truck, all the way to little Kellogg, ID. They will be thankful I did so. read more

Our family has bought 4 vehicles from Dave Smith Motors. We loved each deal, and the people that served us. My wife hates buying cars, but she loves going to this dealership. We travel 725 miles from So. Or. for outstanding deals in the past. I am now looking to buy my dream car--a new Challenger SRT8 Core. OK guys sharpen your pencils,so I can bragg on the deal I got on this one too. If you make this happen this will be the 5th vehicle we've purchased from Dave Smith Motors. By the way I've refered people from my business to yours to buy new cars. They too have traveled 725 miles for a great deal. Lithia down here in my area cannot touch you guys. It's the most fun We've ever had buying a new car. My wife looks forward to the trip. I look forward to the car. I need a real good deal on this (retirement) car that I want to buy in this terrible economy. I hope this goes back the other way through the chain of command,so the powers that be up there see this. Will be calling you again very soon. I've been waitting for this Challenger since they came out. Hope we can strike a very good deal. We could go right here close to us,and buy,but too many games have been played in the past. If I never end up with my car,I wouldn't buy it here. For all of us on this end of the country that buy from you--we get a good deal, and you sell a vehicle. We drive off,and you never see that vehicle again, unless we bring it back to trade on another. It's a win, win. Thanks, John N read more

I decided to get a new Ram 2500 diesel Crew, do to the fact that my Chevy Silverado 2500HD could not handle my new camp trailer so went to a few dealerships here in Bend/Portland area, and was not really happy on how I was treaded and prices, so I called up Dave Smith and got Devin Van Allen. He was great from the get go I was just calling to see about prices and options and Devin was not pushy at all and went over everything with me (I ask a lot of questions and I have to know everything before I make up my mind) I told him I needed to think about things and he still was not pushy at all I did follow up with Devin the next day with a list of options I wanted and Devin was able to get me the truck I was looking for and with every option I wanted and even was able to get it a color I wanted. I was able to work with Devin all week and he took care of the whole deal over the phone NO BS NO TRICKS!! They told me right up front what I was going to get for my two trades... I will never go anywhere else to get my next truck and was the BEST truck buying experience EVER!!!!!!! They even bought us dinner, no dealership has ever just offered to do this I have always had to ask. It was well worth the 1k mile round trip to get my truck. NO dealership here in Bend could even come close to what Dave Smith and Devin did for me. Devin you ROCKED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dave Smith you have a customer for life now.... read more

I had an issue with a new car I purchased from DSM. It involved the wrong paint color being ordered (just for the record there are 2 blacks for GM vehicles....Onyx and Carbon). Anyway the salesperson ordered a carbon black and I had wanted a onyx black. The salesperson originally thought there was only one black option. I picked up my vehicle on a Saturday and the following Tuesday I found out that there was a onyx black available for 2011 GM vehicles. I was bummed out, because the carbon black was not as nice as the onyx. I asked for DSM to consider letting me return this vehicle for the proper color, because I had documented in emails my original request for an onyx black vehicle. I had already put about 600 miles on the new vehicle. I received a call from the GM as well as Ken Smith (DSM owner). They apologized for the issue and said they would order me the proper color vehicle from the factory to exchange for the vehicle I currently had. The part that really blew me away was that Ken told me to just keep the new car I was driving until my new car arrived from the factory, so I would not be inconvenienced at all. Their apology and generosity have made me a life long DSM customers. I have always known you could not beat their pricing, but now I know you cant beat their customer service either. They have created a raving fan! Michael H. read more

As an equine rescue based in southern Utah, our ongoing duties prohibited us from making the journey to north Idaho to inspect the 2009 Ram Cummins we wished to purchase from Dave Smith Motors. As a condition of purchase, we were assured through phone and internet conversations that an intricate inspection would be conducted by their "crack" inspection team, and corrections would be made to anything found prior to shipment/delivery of the vehicle. Sadly, we proceeded with the purchase, and within 24 hrs of receipt of the vehicle we discovered multiple mechanical discrepancies. It was clear that either no inspection took place, or the dealership felt no compulsion to correct any of the easily discoverable issues, which included significant oil leaks among the myriad of irregularities. As a result, we were forced to have the vehicle inspected by our mechanic, forced to correct the multiple discrepancies ourselves, and forced to pay 50% of the approximately $5,000 in repairs for our troubles. The actions, or more correctly inactions, of Dave Smith Motors suggests to me that their loyalty is to $$$, buyer be damned. Fact is, the truck is at the shop as of this writing for a whole new set of electrical issues. Purchase at your own risk!!! read more

Willie Clowser at Dave Smith Motors is my hero! My husband wanted a very specific used vehicle and, he was willing to wait until he found precisely what he wanted. We'd been looking all over the Pacific Northwest and, actually had the same model, year and mileage vehicles sold out from under us twice before we found Willie. Willie listened to my husband, asked clarifying questions and then began his search. Within a few weeks, Willie called to tell us he'd found "the one" for us. And, boy was he ever right! We found Willie to be knowledgeable, forthright, and honest. Our mechanic says this vehicle has been well cared for, and best of all, he literally found nothing - not one thing wrong! We'll definitely call on Willie for our next vehicle purchase! The only downside? Four hours to get us through the process - and we paid cash! In addition, the person who processed the actual sale, tried to up-sell us for a $3000+ warranty. That was a bit frustrating. In this regard, perhaps Dave Smith Motors is a bit regimented. On the other hand, with the number of vehicles they sell each day, they probably need to be! If you are in the market for a quality vehicle, give Willie Clowser at Dave Smith a call. read more

My husband and I have purchased both our vehicles from DSM. I had my 18 month old son in the vehicle with me and I was pregnant with my daughter when my headgasket blew in my Chrysler 300. I had my vehicle towed to service where they established a blown headgasket and many other significant issues that were found. Long story short, I decided to take the loss and look for something immediately. Bob Cameron and Stephanie Latina were ON IT. They sent me different options for an SUV and within 3 days I was signed and down the road in my brand new car. I was AMAZED at how quick and efficient everything went. Signing for it was short as well. I still adore my car. I have it serviced at DSM everytime I need it done, and they even send me detailed quotes on tires with specifics when I'm due for them. My husband bought his 2017 Ram in December of 2016 and it is everything he ever wanted. Long story short, we wont stop buying from DSM. Their sales teams are amazing and they really will go over every option you can think of before you sign on something. Everytime you walk in the door at the dealership, there is a friendly face greeting you. Our experiences were a great and I highly recommend it. read more

If you're looking for a new Ram, Roman is your guy. He was the first salesman we have ever had who had a personality while doing business. He told jokes while on the test drive. Roman made it very clear that he wanted to respect our time while we were at the dealership. He offered coffee from their espresso machine in the lobby. When he had to get paperwork signed, this man RAN AROUND! He made it happen! If he is eligible for a raise or a bonus he truly deserves it. His attention to detail was great. The online pricing he was very up front about any additional amount for registration. This man can even pair a flip phone to a vehicle via Bluetooth! The finance guy really knew his stuff. He sat there an answered all questions. The general manager and Romans boss stopped by and chatted for a while about places to eat near Kellog. They were both above and beyond kind. We are highly impressed and would like to come back the next time we need to upgrade! PLEASE ASK FOR ROMAN ON YOUR NEXT VISIT! He will even miss his baseball game to stay late and make things right when buying a Ram. Roman deserves more than a 5 star yelp review. He makes everyone feel like family. read more

Shout out to a top notch salesman, Anton Ferraro! I was in the market to purchase my first brand new vehicle and had no clue what I actually wanted. Anton spent time asking questions to identify what I was looking for and needing in a vehicle and he patiently worked with me as I test drove many different vehicles. I found one I loved but never thought I would ever be able to afford, a Cadillac SRX! Anton worked with me until we could make this a reality! The time and effort that Anton demonstrated was like none other I had experienced with dealerships in the past, I was treated like a person, not just a sale! After completing paper work with finance Anton was waiting for me with my new vehicle and set up my Bluetooth and accessories... which probably would have taken me hours to figure out. Since, my husband and I have purchased additional vehicles from Anton and have had more great experiences. We told Anton my husband needed a commuter car for work and let him know what we were looking for. Anton searched to find our car and called to have us come check it out and it was exactly what we were looking for! Thanks Anton for your stellar customer service!! read more

I purchased a new truck from Dave Smith Motors in 1997. This was when the Cummins engines were new and they only made 100,000 per year, so no dealerships could get them on the lot. I went through a broker who pulled over to wash the truck before delivering to me in Seattle. At that time Dodge was experimenting with 7-mil thick paint which is paper thin, and the broker may have scratched the paint when he washed it. Dave Smith Motors took care of me. I drove the truck back and they painted it again at no cost to me. I liked the experience so much I added a chrome package and step-sides. Put 100k miles on that truck and sold it for more than I paid for it. I'm now in the market for another truck, but frankly I'm getting sticker shock from the prices. $65,000 for a new Dodge truck??? WOW. WHAT WENT WRONG? My guess - after Dave Smith Motors was boycotted by other Dodge dealers in 1998, they jacked prices back up as part of the settlement, even though they won in court. Not sure I can recommend them based on the info I have at hand, but in 1997, they treated me like a King and that is worth 5-star props. read more

I'm a California resident, and I recently bought a 2021 RAM 1500, from Trace at Dave Smith Motors. Being from California I tried working with several DODGE dealerships from ALL OVER the state, and none of them were able to do what Trace and Dave Smtih Motots could do for me. Purchasing a vehicle from a salesman 1000 miles away whom you've never met, or not being able to test drive the truck you're purchasing can be somewhat of challenge. But I have to say that Trace made this experience one of the best experiences I have ever had purchasing a vehicle.. He did everything he said he was going to do, and the truck was everything Trace said it was. I am beyond happy with not only my beautiful truck, but more so the honesty, professionalism, and relationship building from Trace and the entire team I got to work with. Beginning with Dana in the website chat. to Trace, to Al with accessories, and ending with Joe in finance! It made the 30 hours drive in 47 hours every bit worth it!! Thank you again to Trace Fedele, and the entire Dave Smith Motors team, I look forward to seeing you all again when I'm ready to upgrade!' read more

just bought a 2500 ram truck from Dave Smith in Kellogg.......the absolute , hands down best car buying experience I've ever had. Lithia in spokane will never see me again....ever..... Reuben at dave smiths is outstanding, from him to the sales manager, to the finacing dept. they all were first rate........my wife and I were never pressured, and what ever it took to make us happy thats what they did. I can't recomend these people enough, doing business the way business should be done, charging an honest price,(less than anyone I've found) making an honest markup.......it's not a mistake to deal with them....and the free expresso was a plus :) the day we were to pick up our truck we drove 3 hours to get there, there was a glich in the service dept and it wouldn't be ready for 3-4 hours.....they told us to go home , they would deliver our truck when it was done. it's 6 hours round trip from where they are to where we live. . they filled up our tank and sent us on our way. and later in the day delivered our new ride.... I ask you seriously, what other car dealer on the planet would do this ? read more

My husband and I absolutely made the right choice to drive from Everett, WA. to Kellogg,ID. We had shopped locally and were disappointed in the used trucks and the asking price for them. Danielle Brimhall was fabulous as we emailed and texted over several days regarding what my husband and I wanted - a gently used Dodge Ram diesel truck for hauling a travel trailer or 5th wheel to be purchased in our near future. Danielle found a gorgeous white, fully loaded with a bed liner, canopy, and many other extras before it was even put on-line. We hesitated about going over to see it as we had just ran across some pretty good sounding deals locally; but we went. The entire day was without pressure, a lot of time was spent on test driving several times and education on how everything worked on the truck. Negotiation on price was very upfront, no hassles. When we discovered on the way home that one of the headlights was out, they refunded the price we paid for it. We would buy from them again. We highly recommend them! read more

I recently bought a new pickup truck from Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg Idaho. I pretty much closed the deal on the Phone with Jayleen Hall and Mark in accessories before traveling from Great Falls Montana to their dealership in Kellogg. I could not be more happy with the entire experience. Jayleen worked hard to get me the truck I wanted at the right price and Mark gave me the best advice for accessories and he had everything on the truck by the time I got there. All of this was done with big smiles and a professional manner. I was shown the ABC'S of my new trucks operational and safety features. My wife and I were impressed, it was a magical setting, buy the time the sun had gone down and we were on the road to pick up our new slide in truck camper just West of Kellogg. I give the folks at Dave Smith Motors five stars, I've dealt with many dealers in the past and I have to say, "thanks to the people at Dave Smith" you folks impressed me and that's not so easy to do.
