I don't like getting my hands too dirty in the garden, but when I noticed Chavez's Facebook page showing their end-of-season sale on ALL trees+shrubs in late October, a visit here had to happen. Especially since hubs and I have been adding greenery to our new home's landscape. This garden center has a really nice greenery selection and to also add, Chavez is a cheaper alternative to the big box (HD/Lw's) stores- which have been pricier for me quite honestly. Here at Chavez, I got fantastic local advice from the friendly owner, Juan. I bought a couple of Laurels and a few other items to really add lushness to the front and back of our new home. I brought hubs along on our second visit so he can also pick a few items. We couldn't beat Juan's prices for two, almost 6' high, $100 ea Cypress trees that'll grow like giants. Service was great from both Juan and his wife Earth. This is one spot I'll keep in my mental bank. Do keep in mind, these folks close up shop in late Fall- so if you need to purchase anything, plan accordingly.

Under "fruiting plants" in nursery stock, I found what was basically a comprehensive list of all the fruit I could think of...so we just decided to head over and take our chances. When we arrived and walked around a bit, I realized that they actually HAVE pretty much everything on that comprehensive list, because this place is massive and awesome. I don't think I can possibly list all the things they've got, but I feel pretty confident saying that their selection is better than anything you might find in the surrounding area: Trees, shrubs, evergreens, bushes, perennials, herbs, succulents, conifers, flowers, vegetables, vines...you want plants, they've got the plants. They've also got all the garden supplies you need...plant food, fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, tools, a gorgeous selection of pots, and hooks, and garden gnomes, and more. I didn't know I needed netting to keep the birds from eating my blueberries, but they did, and they've got the netting you need. I should note that my mom frowns on netting your berries, as she believes we need to share with the birds...but she's just a much better person than I am.

In the last year we've had our home, we just let our landscaper know our mission and he'll tackle it with the type of look we want. But this time, hubs and I visited and decided to personally select( 2) 5-6' pine trees on our own so he can go ahead and plant. Penny is one of the head honchos here and knows a thing or two about plants and trees especially when I asked about certain types of plants that would deter bees- since I was stung the summer of '22 and left me traumatized. The service is personable AND they offer Veteran discounts. They're pricy for sure- but if you're willing to pay the price to add a stunning look to your garden, a visit here is essential.
