I had a really disappointing experience at this Dave's Hot Chicken location. I spent around $60 on two meals and mac & cheese, and the order was completely incorrect. Instead of the spice level I ordered, I was given Reaper-level tenders, which normally require a waiver. Because of that, the food was completely inedible -- I couldn't eat it at all due to how extreme the spice was. This isn't a small mistake; it's a serious error, especially considering the safety aspect of that spice level. Timeline: * March 10: I contacted customer support and provided my receipt * March 13: Followed up after being told it would take up to 3 business days * March 16: Followed up again requesting a resolution * Now (over a month later): Still no response or resolution I was initially offered only $20 compensation for a ~$60 order, which doesn't reflect the situation at all, and after that, communication completely stopped. Spending $60 on food that couldn't be eaten, combined with being ignored for over a month, is extremely frustrating. At this point, I'm still waiting on a proper resolution. I hope management takes this seriously and improves both order accuracy and customer support. read more

After a long day, I decided to treat myself to a delivery of DHC. Ordered the 10 piece bites meal after seeing people reviewing it on social media. This had to be the worst experience. See pics. I ordered them with no spice and got a handful of tiny, gray looking bites that had spice and were dry as a bone. They were hard as a rock and the texture was as though they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for many hours before I got them. My go to item. Item 2 From the menu. 2 sliders with fries. My levels spiciness is hot. They have extra hot and another hot level above that. I remember I saw a disclaimer on their website when I attempted to choose that spice level for the chicken. Sliders are very good and the fries are also golden crispy and crinkle. I've always heard about Dave's Hot Chicken and it's surprising to see one open up in Bay Ridge. I'm not complaining though because at least I don't have to go all the way to downtown Brooklyn or Manhattan for it. I ordered a slider at the mild level because I didn't know what to expect. It was honestly not spicy at all - I would think it's the no spice level if I wasn't aware. My brother ordered the extra hot level and now THAT was spicy for me. My comfort zone is probably around the medium and hot levels. Either way, mild was still flavorful with all the spices on it, and the cole slaw and pickles added a nice crunch and freshness to the sandwich. It did its job in cutting the grease. A friend picked up a few combos from here as they're newly opened in Brooklyn. I've had my fair share of Dave's Hot Chicken in LA, but I must admit it's one of the better spots for Nashville hot chicken. The sliders are huge and filling; they're more like burger size. The chicken; I ordered their Daves # 3 signature sandwich with 1 - Chicken tender, mild; The Wife went with Dave's # 1 which is two tenders with fries, the wife does not do heat so she went with no spice; then we each ordered a extra tender each one mild & one no spice.... 1- Soda & 1- Kale slaw @ $45.00 The food; The wife's tenders were both huge and as per my wife they were moist & tender fried on the well done side. My Chicken; the sandwich was good everything on it including the bun was super fresh; I did add honey & extra Dave's house sauce I felt it needed it to add more flavor to their chicken. My tenders compared to my wife's were on the smaller side very noticeable and they fried them too long so my chicken was dry ... also had to top them with extra Dave's house sauce & honey to enjoy them ... The fries are good well seasoned; the kale slaw was good .... Now, like I said I'm comparing Dave's to Birdies and Birdies in my opinion beat up Dave's chicken in every way.... The staff was super friendly and their service was fast and their restaurant was very clean ... Would I recommend, yea if ya in the area; would I come back ? Dave's Hot Chicken has recently opened a Bay Ridge location and I was eager to check it out when I had the craving for something different from the usual mix in the vicinity. For a neighborhood with a strip that used to offer a lot more by ways of shopping, we had what amounted to almost all of the major fast food places. DHC is brightly painted on the facade and its interior walls and as one young lady walked out I asked how it was and she said "get the #3" which I found to be a full chicken sandwich and a slider. This is served with french fries and pickles and the consumer can decide on a few levels of heat. I opted for Hot and Very Hot which was the second to last under Reaper and I will say that Very Hot might kick your bottom if you aren't ready for it. The order took a few minutes to prepare but it was on the busy side and I don't mind this since I leave with the notion that my item was fresh and not just sitting around under a lamp. The kitchen area is partially visible and the staff were quite busy. That night there also appeared to be a manager on duty as she had a clipboard and seemed to be in charge of the operation. Let's face it, they have to come out of the gate strong since there are a half dozen other options within walking distance along with a bunch of restaurants. Once I got home I dove into the meal and it was quite good. The chicken is coated with a spicy blend but I wouldn't consider this a breading like we find at places like McDonald's or Wendy's etc. That had a nice bite to it as well and as I said I chose the Hot and Hotter levels of sauce. I was glad I had some ice water handy for the very hot option even though water doesn't really help much with that. The chicken fillets used on both slider and sandwich were very large and left me full and just opting to relax for a little while in front of the television. I will say that there could have been a few more fries to the order but that was my only gripe. The downside to some might be the price since they are a little pricier than some of the other joints around us but you are getting a good portion and something that seemed to be less on the greasy side to me. Overall I liked what I had and found the staff pleasant. I told the girl with the clipboard that they were doing great and welcome to our neighborhood and I think she appreciated that. Do try them out when you are visiting Bay Ridge. There are a few tables to sit at should you choose to dine in but its a tight space and too confined for me so I just opt for "to go". read more

I love daves hot chicken. I came here for the first time to try the reaper spice level chicken tender. It's very, very hot! You are required to sign a waiver to try it. And that alone makes me want to go back. I recommend you drink a cup of milk 15 minutes before you eat anything above hot. For someone who doesn't like hot sauce anything, coleslaw AND really spicy food, this place is pretty damn good. We've tried this place twice, and have had nothing but great things to say. First time was in store when we were eating our way through DT Brooklyn and second time was an online order from the Bay Ridge restaurant, where it's much closer to us. We drove by this location accidentally the day before and my husband was really excited that we don't have to drive further out for some hot chicken. I didn't go inside the Bay Ridge location, but the downtown one was clean and had plenty of seats all through the space. The line wasn't too long when we went in, but service was fast. The tenders are huge! 2 orders of the 2 tenders and fries meals are enough to feed my four young boys ages 1, 3, 6 and 11 (and they can eat, lol). Hubby and I got the 2 sliders meal to share and I was pleasantly surprised at how juicy the chicken is - at both locations. Considering how much my husband likes this place, I gave the slaw a chance, kept everything standard and didn't remove anything from my slider. The slaw cuts through the flavors of the chicken tender quite well, the freshness, cooling effect and crunch of it along with the pickles bring a balance to the slider. Ordered for pickup via their own app and DoorDash multiple times. Sometimes it was not made at the time I requested for pickup so the bun was soggy by the time I picked up. The hot is not spicy enough, the extra hot is a little too hot but really good anyways, the reaper is no joke, extreme and I had to chug some milk! The chicken is flavorful and juicy while fries are nice and lightly crisp on the outside and potatoey on the inside, just how I love my fries. Tried the new Daves Hot Chicken location in Bay Ridge today. It was very good and juicy chicken. I tried a Medium, Hot, and Xtra Hot tender and I have to say the Medium and Hot did not have much heat at all in my opinion. The Xtra Hot had a little more kick but not what I imagined... I suppose that just gives me more reason to go back now and try the "Reaper" (their hottest flavor and apparently they make you sign a waiver for). I will definitely be back!!! read more

I have eaten about a couple times at this location, and the food was amazing. The spice variety allowed for me; a picky eater myself, to actually really enjoy the food. I couldn't really come up with a specific problem. There was this one time where I got the wrong order, with the sliders being mixed up with tenders, but wasn't much of a problem. The ambience of the store overall was great, didn't have any complaints about it, and it was unique, allowing it to stand out from all the other fast food chains in the area, and I do wish for the franchise to succeed: Overall, it was hella good, and I am craving more. New spot in bay ridge, wanted to give them a try since the last time I had them was in Vegas. In Vegas I tried the hot wings and regretted it, way too hot. So now I settle for the mild which is great. No complaints about the food or the customer service BUT expect to wait 20-30 minutes for food. I have been here twice now and it's the same wait. They're literally apologizing to every customer for the wait. I don't remember myself waiting this long in Vegas so I don't know what the issue is here. It's barely tolerable but forgiven because the place is new but with all the other places around that they're competing with they better tighten up if they're looking to retain. I was in the neighborhood and came across Dave's Hot Chicken. I ordered the 2 sliders and Fries combo (one medium and one Hot slider). I did not expect the sliders to be so good. The tenders in the sliders were very juicy and delicious. I really liked the Medium spice slider as it did not destroy my sinuses, but gave a small kick. The Hot Slider was pretty hot for me. Both sliders were very good. The Dave's sauce was good and tangy. The sliders also came with a generous portion of pickles, in the sliders as well as extra on the side. They were more burger size than slider size. The buns are very soft just like the ones you get from shake shack. We also got a side of mac and cheese. Dave's hot chicken isn't really spicy if you can handle it. Their chicken is always juicy. I enjoy the slider a lot which comes with a slaw and soft bun. The chicken tender comes with a slice of bread and pickles. The Dave sauce is a nice dipping sauce and get some honey too. The combo comes with fries but you can substitute it with Mac and cheese. Both of these sides are good, depending what I prefer to eat for the day. The service is quick, there are a lot of people working in the kitchen. The shop is small with really cute graffiti on the wall. And this spot is so close to the 86th st train station. read more
