I order a lot of stuff from them on a particular day which included coleslaw. First night I had their home fries and coleslaw. Got sick later on that night. I decided to skip the cole slaw and potatoes 2nd day and I was fine after that but to be sure before I called them that it was in fact the coleslaw , so the third day I had the coleslaw , and I got sick. I called and spoke to someone I think he named mark.He said the manager was not in so he wanted me to explain why I was I was calling and that he would be relay.The message monday comes never heard a word from mike's so I call and this guy tells me he's the manager, his exact words were " i ain't got no complaints from nobody else" but I only have their food.I bought enough for several days.Someone could easily have brought Cole slaw served it with other stuff that they had at home or whatever and couldn't pinpoint what it was.I was able to pinpoint what it was in a few days , but he didn't want to hear it. I read the great reviews about this deli so I decided to try it . Ordered a meatball hero. And meatloaf hero . The meatballs had hardly any taste but weren't too bad . The tomato sauce on them was pretty bland . The meatloaf was the disappointment! It was a slice of meatloaf on Italian bread , so dry ! No gravy or anything on it . I was so disappointed when I got it home and went to eat it . I won't be making anymore special trips to bayridge for this food . read more

Today I placed an order which totaled $49. Part of my order was for a "medium rare" cheeseburger. I must have said "medium rare" cheese burger 4 times; maybe more. The guy who taken my phone order also repeated it. I also said 3 or 4 times about directions to my apartment because there's 3 elevators in my building. You take the wrong elevator & you end up somewhere else in the building. The guy had no interest in listening to me nor writing it down. He repeatedly said the delivery guy will call me when he arrives at my apartment. The call lasted about 12 minutes. I'm very patient but it was aggravating having to repeat everything a few times.The guy assured me the delivery guy would call me. He didn't. The burger was "medium well done" -- I called back & that phone call was another 10 minutes or more. I not only told whomever answered the phone about the burger but the guy who took my order talked to me! And then a woman spoke to me. Imagine!! The woman verified I DID order a "medium rare" burger but added that "the cook probably didn't see that" -- unbelievable!! What's the point of asking for your burger a certain way? No apology from anyone. Very unprofessional; poor manners and rude. A "medium rare" burger was then delivered in its place. After spending almost a half hour on the phone I felt this place had no interest in their customers. I'll never order from them again. PS -- the burger was just okay.... read more

This deli is awesome! Old school deli with the best sandwiches. Try the roast beef or chicken cutlets on a hero. Both are homemade. I was here at around 11am on a Friday on my way to the Bay Ridge Model Railroad Club. In any case, they had a 4 item for $12 special on the window and I asked the nice lady what I should try. I ended up with: -1 crabcake -Bacon and Peas Mac & Cheese -Clam Linguini -Chicken and Rice The Mac and Cheese and Chicken-n-rice were the stars of the food. I got to try a nice piece of bread and I rounded it out with a coke zero. I made 2 meals out of this food, made i through five borough's brewing entire draft list (via flights) and didn't need to eat again until midnight that night. Went in for a breakfast sandwich, ordered, paid, and while waiting I noticed the (I think?) owner was walking all over the deli with no mask on. The girl who took my order took her mask off to make coffee then put it back on under her nose. I couldn't see my food being made but if I had to take a guess, mask usage out of sight is probably not great either. Hated to lose the $6, but I'm not about to get COVID for a breakfast sandwich, so I left. Why have a sign on your door asking people to wear a mask if you don't even do it yourself? COVID rates are too high in this neighborhood to be acting like this. There are a million other delis around here. Go to one of them. read more

I order a sandwich with roasted red peppers and got regular green peppers. I called and told them it was not correct and that because I was on the beach I would have top remove the peppers and eat the sandwich because of my location, but it was not what I ordered and would Luke my money back. They were rude and refused and their justification was it was what they had! Hey Fellow Yelpers! Today I had the most horrible experience @ Mike's Delicatessen.' I've been ordering from them for five years. However, it was a nightmare to say the very least. First of all I ordered a Roast Beef Sandwich & two Jello's I always, ask for rare on a roll with a little butter. When it was delivered I was shocked and disgusted, upon opening first the Roast Beef' it smelled and the color was real brown, not what I usually receive. Next the Jello's had a foam on top that appeared to be saliva! This was sickening!!! I then decided to call the business, because I thought this was some sort of mistake or oversight on their part.. Needless to say, the person I spoke with didn't want to exchange or refund my money which was on a credit card. Instead he started to call me lewd names when I said I would come to his Deli.' Furthermore, he was cursing at me, and I then said his behavior was very low indeed, and unbecoming of a businessman! Finally, I hung up on this rude and irate individual. I proceeded to reach my bank! I'm disputing the charge @ this point! No one should be treated this way. There's so many other places in Bayridge' Where your patronage is well appreciated." Nice neighborhood deli where I can grab some cold cuts or salads when I don't feel like going to a supermarket and waiting on a line that's like 20 deep. They have a nice selection of hot foods, but the only thing I get from that section is their green beans with garlic and oil which are friggin awesome- so I can't really comment on the rest of the items. Nice selection of cold salads too- macaroni salad, Italian pasta salad and they have been fresh whenever I've gotten them. Cold cuts are always good and they cut em thin for me which is a plus. Staff is always super nice too. They also sell bread, cookies and other household items that you might need in a pinch. All in all, good neighborhood deli to have around. read more

Ordered a bunch of sandwiches through delivery. The bread had a nice crust but not as hard as the bread at paneantico. The meat was fresh but the flavors did not pop out at me. The sandwich was also tough to eat because the bread to meat ratio was not right. The condiments came on the side which was convenient. Sandwiches definitely needed a little mayo to soften the bread. Would I order again? Yes... but I would try the hot dishes next time. read more

I am SO upset tonight with Mikes Deli because I been going here a long time and have had good experiences until tonight - The store CLOSES at 8 PM. I walk in at 7:30 pm and its dimly lit and everything is wrapped and I am told - sorry we closed . ITS 730 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So after I made a scene - gentleman comes out and makes my sandwich begrudgingly - and while doing it I can HEAR HIM coughing over and over = so I look behind counter = NO MASK !! I know Mike's is most well known for the lasagna, but I am here to tell you about their pristine egg sandwich. Sure, an egg sandwich is as pedestrian as they come, but once you have one here you can never have another one anywhere else. They really think and care about each component. The eggs are light and fluffy, not the dry, greying slab it is in most places. The bacon is always done right. Never burnt or a hard, jerky-like piece of meat thrown on as an afterthought. The cheese is perfectly portioned so that it doesn't overwhelm the whole thing as it melts. If an egg sandwich was to be served in a fine dining establishment this is what they should aim for. read more

Mike's deli is a little overpriced in my opinion. Came one day to have a sausage, egg and cheese on a roll. Was shocked when the cashier girl told me $5.25. Vowed never to come back but recently, I was in a rush and couldn't eat breakfast at home so came here for a breakfast sandwich. This time I had a sausage and egg on a roll. Was charged $3.25. So I'm assuming you get charged an extra $2 for cheese. Anyway, sandwich tastes pretty standard. Nothing amazing. Would not get cheese next time as it makes the sandwich saltier and more expensive haha. Background/context: Mike's Deli is on a weird stretch of street you find yourself on as you come up the steps of the 95 St R train stop at the furthest-most stretch of Bay Ridge, where 'the Narrows' opens out into Lower New York Bay. These blocks--95 down to 101--are almost but not quite under the balls of the Verazzano Bridge. Its a strange assortment of large and small buildings. Churches, car dealerships, business centers, banks, bodegas, laundromats, medical centers. Big long blocks which wear out your shoe leather. Mike's itself is in a little run of tiny narrow shops/eateries hard by the train entrance which includes Cathy's Diner and the 'Organic Candy store' (errmm, what?). Okay so, I admit you might saunter into Mike's not expecting much. But--lo and behold, what greets your eyes? An enormous hot foods steam counter bursting with what seems like two dozen distinct prepared dishes. It's quite a surprise. Boy, you better know it. Very lean and focused operation. Drinks freezers to your left and hot steamin' goodness to your right. That's it. You stand, order, get your grub, and exit. Bim bam boom. No dilly-dallyin, no clutter, no nonsense, no fru-fru. None of that gluten-free nonsense. Just simmerin' fresh-off-the-grill food, clean floors, well-lit, and lucid English spoken. Mac'n'cheese, steamed veggies, eggplant parm, five diff kinds of chicken cutlets, escarole, sausage/peppers, sauerkraut+kielbasa, mashed taters, sweet taters, Taylor Pork Roll, fish cakes, chili, beef stew, soups and hashes of every type and variety. Now, this place is a find. I'm telling you what. Especially on a cold wintry day, can you imagine? You hustle in here blowin' on your hands and pink faced and frost on your eyelashes and cracked lips, needing some stick-to-your-ribs type food in your belly...well you get your choice of a couple dozen pipin'-hot, American classics PDQ (pretty darn quick!) Plus, a fresh hot black cup of joe. Ore-Ida. That's what I'm talkin' bout. And they do hot sammiches...TO ORDER. Always served up cheerfully with sweet, pure-hearted smiles to go with it. I tried this deli for the 1st time the other day since it's right by the train and it was too hot to cook dinner. I got my usual roast beef sandwich and was excited when I realized they make their own roasts. And it did NOT disappoint. It was super fresh and flavorful. Best roast beef I've had in a long time. Mike's is one of the many awesome spots in the Ridge. I dug it before the remodeling and now dig it even more! The guys who work there are super cute(never hurts to see a hottie on the way to work) and the girls are pretty fabulous as well. Service is always quick and friendly...never rushed. Happily, I'm noticing that the hood is becoming more and more veggie friendly and Mike's is no exception. Had the lentil soup a few weeks ago-yummmmmmy. Wow. Sandwich was great. Went for lunch today (3/13/12). Had a pastrami on rye with spicy mustard. Bag of bugles and a root beer. Service: Guy behind the counter (young/bald guy) was very friendly and nice. Selection: This place had everything you could imagine, very large lunch selection...cold cuts, and premade wraps, and rolls, and Italian food. The atmosphere was also very nice, clearly recently remodeled. They had a great drink selection, including beer. My pastrami was really good, and next I will try the roast beef. I wish they had seating, to eat lunch, but that is no big deal. Would strongly recommend. read more

I eat here probably 2-3 times a week since moving to Bay Ridge. The staff is super friendly (and they kick a$$) and the food is never disappointing. I have tried almost everything from the hot bar and menu and really cant complain about much. Its also one of the best omelets and breakfast potatoes in bay ridge. They actually cook them! The corn beef is incredible as well. The mac n cheese is delicious. read more

My boyfriend and I just moved to Bay Ridge from Williamsburg and are on our quest for a new deli (as we heavily relied upon Late Night Deli on Metropolitan Ave in WB for quick bites, etc) and thought we would give Mike's a try. The sandwiches aren't bad, they're just not worth the $7 a piece it averaged out to. If you're going to charge that much, I want avocado, bacon, etc included in addition to actually putting the mayo on my sandwich as I requested. In regards to the last part of that previous sentence, I ordered mayo on my sandwich and instead of putting it on said sandwich they put mayo in a little tub, wrapped it in cling wrap and put a knife in the bag with our sandwiches for me to put on myself. A bit confusing and slightly annoying, but not in a *omg I'm a Yelp foodie jerk snob* sort of way. Just thought that was a bit out of character. We'll probably give this place another go after they remodel, which apparently is supposed to be happening soon. read more
