DAVES RV- Danbury Connecticut. I rely heavily on reviews for all sorts of things, restaurants, hotels and especially everything to do with RVs, camping, etc. Oddly enough, I usually do not write reviews. But this one is an exception. We have owned and operated RVs for almost 40 years so one can imagine we've had our fair share of dealings with repair shops, Mobile RV techs and yes, RV dealers, the latter of which is usually very painfull. We have been traveling for over 2months in our 2022 Newmar Newaire diesel pusher, from Idaho to Arizona through Texas, the deep south and up the East Coast. Everywhere has been blistering hot, humid and our rear air-conditioning unit was not working well. We had a Newmar dealer in Myrtle Beach determine it needed to be replaced, even though they could not tell me what was wrong with it. They replaced it, but after 13 man hours they could not get the new one to work. We came back the next day and they spent 7 hours putting the old one back on. The Next day, the old unit didn't work at all. Fast forward, I researched what dealer was going to be in our path, I checked reviews on various options and then contacted Dave's RV in Danbury Connecticut. It was a little out of our way, but I called them and spoke with Dave Jr. He was super knowledgeable, knew exactly what the issue was. We agreed to drive up to Danbury from Philly let Dave take a shot at it. We arrived at 2 PM chatted with Dave Jr. and Larry, left them the keys and went to the market expecting to hook up to their power connections and spend the night when we got back. Less than two hours later we got back; The coach was where we left it connected to shore power slideouts out, lights on and the new air conditioner in and running. After chatting with both of them, we determined that the previous job was Pretty much botched and surprised we didn't have a fire. I even got to meet Dave Senior and his lovely wife and the office crew. Senior has been at it for 56 years there....These people are the salt of the Earth, true professionals, and they renewed my faith in independent dealers and technicians. Forever grateful. read more

Stay away!! This guy is a big rip off. They add time to your work while working on other rv's. Also they don't know what they are doing. I brought my motor home to adjust the slides and after two trips and 600 miles of driving and a 900 dollar bill . The slide is worth than it was before he started. And Dave jr blamed the manufacturer. read more

We rolled into town on the hottest day of the year with a scary noise coming out of our RV a/c.. We literally were waiting for Dave's to open which was followed by begging for help.. Even with him slammed Dave grabbed a tech, ladder and headed to our RV. We got lucky as after a/c covered was removed the noise disappeared. We think in our very bumpy ride something was impairing the blade.. Bottom line even with no room for us Dave MADE room to help..and NO CHARGE!!..A+++ guy Aloha Sheila and Mike read more

My husband and I were traveling in our new Bay Star toward Maine on 295 and became sandwiched between 2 large trucks. The truck on the right side hit our side mirror and knocked it off. We called our Newmar dealer in Florida and they connected us with Dave's RV Center. He arranged to replace both the next day! As we headed toward CT, we also drove under a low bridge in NY and broke our AC unit on the top of the RV. Dave had a new one in stock and replaced it as well. He put 4 men on the repair job. We were so pleased that we could continue our trip to Maine all repaired within 2 1/2 hours. I just can't praise Dave enough for his wonderful crew and outstanding service! We are in our 2nd motorhome and both were purchased from Dave's RV. Everyone who works there are personable, quick to help, and courteous. They treat you like close family members (the good kind). Dave Jr's knowledge of the Newmar coaches is incredible. When we have had to call for help(many times) , Dave Jr stayed on the phone with us until it was fixed. It's been long time since I was scolded by a sales rep. We own a camper purchased from another retailer (Coachmen Apex 16RBX) and we were looking for a service center closer to home. When we arrived we decided to take a look at some of the models on the lot. We hadn't gotten more than 30 feet when were were met with a gruff "do you need help?", we walked back to meet the sales rep who was not going to make the walk to us, to ask about services and parts. We asked about winterization, storage and other basic maintenance services and after giving out model were told flatly that they didn't work on pop-ups and only offered winter storage for units purchased from them but would do the winterization we were looking for. We then asked if it was ok to look at the models they had on the lot, and were informed they were all locked. We said that was fine and would be fine just browsing. We spotted a great 66 chevy trailer, it was old but had great lines, as we went over to check it out we heard the same sales guy yell "You can't be over there!" as we walked back again we apologized assuming we'd walked into the storage area, but were told it was for sale! We were bewildered! It was for sale but we weren't allowed there? There was no reason offered for being talked to like this, and no visible "work" that may have posed a danger. It was also obvious that we were the only potential customers on the lot but were being followed at a distance by 3 "sales people" who never made a move to try to sell us anything. After this we went inside to try to get the cleaners we wanted, and at first it seemed like the guys in service would save the day for this experience. Nope. At first they were helpful, and offered advice on cleaning products but told us that they would not winterize a pop-up. The downside was overhearing them talk to or about another customer badly. I'm sure we all have gripes about other people but he was wrong to air them while potential customers were in the shop. I know I won't be going back. read more

Dave charged me $654.00 to tell me my batteries on my 2013 View J were shot which was why my generator would quit after a few hours. As a small business owner I feel strongly about customer service and am rarely impressed with businesses in the service industry. I had read the other reviews here but was in a jam before leaving for vacation and needed service. I made numerous calls to try to arrange emergency service on my water heater, fully understanding that the industry is overwhelmed at the moment and it was Friday before a Holiday weekend to boot. I decided to give Dave's RV a chance. I called, left a message for the service person and received a call back in less that 30 minutes. I explained my situation and the diagnostics I had done and waited for him to tell me "sorry but we are not able to fit you in for service for a week or two". Instead I was amazed that he took the time to ask me a number of questions and started trying to diagnose the issue over the phone. He quickly realized that was not worth doing. He said "bring it down right now and we will fix it while you wait, which was exactly what they did. Not only did they fix it but they waived the "emergency service" rate since it took a bit let time than expected. I have to say that without Dave's RV Center, I would most definitely own a very expensive piece of yard art! I purchased a used RV in 2010 against their recommendation. I should have listened to them and purchased a newer Coach from them. Over the past 6 years, I have spent more than enough to make up the difference in price of what they recommended I buy. However, they always keep my old RV running perfectly. I have had them perform several major upgrades most recently the removal of an obsolete 30-Amp service and electronic energy management system. Dave's converted my Coach to a 50-Amp service with an electronic surge protector. Their work quality is second to none and their prices are reasonable. A lot of RV dealers do not even want to work on older Coaches, Dave's is the only place to consider when purchasing a new or used RV or any needed repairs. I am a very happy customer! read more

Called about an RV they had listed on RVtrader.com, and the first thing out of Dave's mouth is the price is going up. Didn't ever really care to here what i had to say. Then he proceeded to say he needed to get that off RVtrader. Funny I have been watching this camper for a while on RVtrader and its still there, boy people must be jumping at the opportunity to buy this. Very rude and obnoxious I will take my business else where like Diamond RV where they also sell Newmars, and talk to you like a human. What a rude person, never been talked down to like that. I do not recommend this place for any business transactions unless you are a billionaire or just don't give a damn about money. Family orientated ya right who are they kidding, of course he also talked down my trade as well. read more

Dave is awesome!! Going to New Hampshire we blew not one but two tires...pulled into a parking lot to assess the dilemma and Dave just happened to be in that parking lot. He asked if he could go see if he has a tire or rim, came back to take my husband over to his shop, put 2 new tires on the rims and did not want anything! Dave's RV Center carries the Newmar line recreational vehicles, which are excellent quality campers, and they are the only dealer in the immediate area who deals with Newmar. Because Dave's is a local and independent business they were our first choice when we decided to purchase a Newmar. We had dealt with Dave Jr. in the past, who was very nice. Unfortunately, the day we stopped in Dave Sr. was on the floor. This man was arrogant, insulting many other RV dealers in the area, which I found to be so uncalled for as well as unprofessional. We had a trade-in (pristine condition, no problems at all) which he offered us the lowest price for, and was unwilling to work with us on price for the new vehicle. As a result, we bought our unit from another Newmar dealer. It is the same model as the one at Dave's, but with more options, and with the value of our trade in addition to the discount the other dealer gave us, we ended up 12K less than what Dave had to offer, with a better interest rate as well. The best part of the story is that when the dealer asked us why we didn't get our new camper closer to home, we told him there was really only one Newmar dealer in our area who we felt had a bit of an attitude, he immediately asked us if it was Dave Sr. from Dave's RV! The moral of the story is that if you want to pay more than you should to a man with a condescending attitude, go to Dave's RV Center. read more

we have bought our second coach from Dave's RV Center because of the exceptional service we have gotten over the years from this dealer. Although we have payed more than some other places we could have bought our coaches from, the service we had before we came to Dave's has been found to be less than desirable and in some cases faulty. It is well worth the additional expense up front to ensure a safe and reliable coach for our travels. read more
