I recently moved into the area and was looking for a PCP. Dr. Beaulieu had relatively good reviews and had his own private practice. I wanted to support a local business, so I decided to begin seeing him. The first appointment went relatively well, and I thought he was the type of doctor who cared a great deal about his patients. The second appointment and every interaction since then has been terrible, however. During the first appointment, he drew blood and we talked about my medical issues. I told him I had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease through a blood test when I was 17. I also told him fatigue was an issue. Dr. Beaulieu requires that patients come back for a follow-up appointment post-bloodwork rather than just mail them their results. I guess that helps him earn more money. But whatever. I decided my health was important, so a second appointment it was - even though I had to leave work early to get there in time. During the second appointment, it turned out that a) he tested me for the same autoimmune disease I told him that I have, and it seemed clear that he did not believe I actually had it and was simply making it up and b) he did not test me for anything related to my current fatigue. He did 2 standard blood tests in addition to testing me for an autoimmune disease - which I have a diagnosis for - and neither of them connected to fatigue at all. He essentially completely dismissed what I had to say. The whole retesting for this autoimmune disease felt like a way for him to "catch" me making this up. I asked him why he tested for this, and his response was that "He had doubts that I had it." During this same appointment, he told me that Vitamin C was as effective as many vaccines. Also, guess what? My insurance will not cover a test that I did not need - i.e., the autoimmune disease test. So I get to pay out of pocket for that. There was zero need to test for it except for him to feel good. I then ran out of an important prescription. It was originally prescribed by a different doctor who can no longer prescribe it - I was living abroad for the past two years, and so the prescription that I had was only valid in that country. Knowing that it might be awhile before I could find a PCP, I stocked up before coming back to the U.S., but just ran out. I called two weeks ago, and could not get in touch with anyone. I called his office 6 times today, hoping to talk to Dr. Beaulieu and get this prescription phoned in. Instead - when the phone was actually answered by an answering service - I was told I would be called back within 30 minutes or less. Surprise surprise - I was not. When I called back and talked to the "service" they asked if I had somehow blocked the number on my phone. I am still unable to get in touch with my PCP, who is the only one who can write this important prescription. Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. If you think that using a private practitioner will mean more individual attention from your PCP, you are absolutely wrong. Choose another one.

He evaluated my dad whose residence in an Assisted Living was being challenged. I was surprised to find a doctor who wasn't shy to do the right thing by his patients. The first doctor I ever visited who has a sign on the office door which reads: "Drug Company Representatives, DO NOT ENTER". I have personally thrown drug company reps out of a doctors office, when they wanted to see the doctor prior to me. Then I apologized to the doctor for misbehaving. The doctor stood up, shook my hand, and asked me how I did that, because he had tried to do that for years. Well, doc, I told them I would write to the CEO of Lilly and the FDA, making a complaint about their marketing practices interfering with patient care and how they don't care about the public in treatment. I also let some stuff spill out of my mouth from my diamond turned titanium tongue, I don't really remember the exact words, but I got in the rep's face and didn't stop until she was out of you waiting room door. Doc, just have them wait until you are done with your patients. They won't stay until you are available. You could also have me stand sentry.

He did an elbow surgery for me and now my problem is worse--he told me 6-8 weeks for recovery, the new Drs i am seeing all say it can take up to a year, blatant lie from dr choi. I fear the surgery was a complete misdiagnosis with profit in mind as he was on his way out the door, now im missing months of work and my quality of life has significantly diminished. 6 months later im still barely able to use my right arm. How i wish i had researched this guy before the surgery. He did sloppy work and left a nasty scar on my arm, other Drs have told me the closure of the surgery looked unprofessional.
