Against my better judgement, we used the internet to research companies for a reverse mortgage for our dear friend who was in need of financial assistance to get in-home care. I always prefer word of mouth and personal recommendations for companies when it comes to big financial decisions such as these, but we were in a bit of a bind and running out of options. It didn't make it any easier that reverse mortgages have a bad rap and can be overwhelming and tricky. We needed to find somebody that was trustworthy, knowledgeable and most of all, kind-hearted. David Diaz is the best!!!! I wish I could give more stars! I found him through yelp when I started looking to refinance our home that we currently rent out. First, he told me exactly what to do, where to move money around, which debts to pay down, etc. etc. to improve our credit score to get us the best loan rate possible. My husband works in the film business, so for anyone who doesn't know, that means lots and lots of different jobs which doesn't look so great in the eyes of the bank. David worked so hard to get everything finished before the show my husband was working on ended but it just wasn't possible. When my husband started working again, David went back to it and we were financed this February! Our new interest rate is more than 2.5% lower!!! Another thing, before we got married my husband tried to refinance through Chase, the big nasty bank. $500 dollars later, he was rejected from Chase and gave up on the refi. Once we married I took control of the finances, as to be expected. I found David and got the ball rolling. David did everything without being paid a single penny until everything was finalized. He did so much for us without a real guarantee of getting paid for doing all of this work, which kept him motivated and us happy! David helped me with a VA loan. I was nervous about using that kind of loan because I had heard that homeowners usually don't want to deal with it for some reason. From the beginning, David told me not to worry. When we found the house we wanted, the seller told us they didn't want to sell to someone using a Veteran's loan. It was disappointing for me because I saw how much my wife wanted that house. We were both pretty upset, and were hanging our heads low that day. I told David about it, and again, he told me not to worry - and to keep my phone on. Later that day, Steve called to tell us they had accepted our offer. Steve Kim handled my refinance. He is the best. I have refinanced before, but never had to submit as much documentation. Steve kept me informed almost daily with phone calls or emails of how things were progressing. The bank kept asking for more information. Sometimes I had no idea what they wanted. Steve's calm demeanor kept me from tearing my hair out. I am retired and have several income sources. Having to document each source was the biggest sticking point. He was able to extend my lock, and we closed the day before it was to expire. Lucky for me because rates had started to climb. He also got the bank to waive certain requests. Luckily, I live very close to their office. So I was able to provide whatever was asked for in a timely manner. I can't express how grateful I am to Steve for all his help. We had (after several months of trying) given up on an attempt to refinance with another company, because it was so difficult and they kept running into problems.
