I'd like to preface this by saying that I held a North Carolina State Driver's License for 10+ years, and made the mistake of letting my license expire when I moved up to NYC. Once I re-acquired my learner's permit, I began to take driving lessons in NYC so I could get acquainted with city traffic, but I wanted to take my road test in a more rural area so I wouldn't have to deal with the added stress of traffic in New York. I did a google search and found David's Driving School in Spring Valley. It's about a 1hr train ride out of NY Penn Station, and is about a 3 minute walk once you get off the Spring Valley platform. Very convenient and accessible location for anyone living in the city. The woman answering the phone was lovely and hospitable, and it really puts you at ease to hear such a pleasant voice speaking over the phone like that. I booked a 45min practice session in conjunction with their road test package. The day of my road test, it happened to be snowing. When I arrived everyone was very friendly and even offered me a free cup of coffee. My driving instructor (his name was Shai - I apologize if I'm misspelling this) was terrific. In comparison to what I experienced in New York, I would say that he was my best instructor. He understands driving very well, his instructions are extremely clear and easy to follow, and perhaps most importantly - he spoke in a manner that really helped me to relax and just enjoy driving. He also gave me some parallel parking tips that basically resulted in a perfect parallel park every time. Once we got to the road test area, he talked me through exactly how the road test would go, and sure enough - it went exactly how he said it. He prepared me extremely well, and I passed without difficulty. I will tell you that even for someone who is an experienced driver, the DMV road test is a nerve-racking experience. You basically put your fate in the hands of someone who has total power to deny your driving privileges, and it's very easy to let anxiety get the better of you. Short of words to describe such an astonishing school, a place of service where the atmosphere is calm, friendly, welcoming, and, most importantly, helpful. Whether it's scheduling a road test or taking a lesson, they go above and beyond. My first encounter was with their customer service rep, Ashley, kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful. She assisted me in securing a road test and made sure to accommodate my scheduling restrictions, following up diligently until I had a date. When I faced issues with an instructor, she was quick to listen, found me a replacement the same day, and ensured I felt heard. Every time I walked in, she was smiling, ready to help. Nosson, an outstanding instructor, is someone you'd genuinely enjoy conversing with. He teaches with patience, taking the time to show, explain, and allow practice, understanding that mastery doesn't always come on the first try. He respects your level of experience and age, making the learning process comfortable and effective. Highly recommended! And then there's Bruce, friendly, engaging, and always smiling. His warmth and positive energy make a real difference. Thank you, Bruce! You're a great guy. Lastly, a special mention to Jake, the instructor who took me on the day of my road test. Although I missed my morning lesson for personal reasons, his upbeat and funny spirit put me at ease, making a stressful day feel lighthearted. Thank you, Jake! Normally I do not leave reviews online but after taking the defensive driving course at David Driving School I felt the need to share how impressed i was. Having a license for nearly 2 decades i am not new to the defensive driving class which saves us 10% on our insurance and helps with points (if you have a license and are not taking it, GET ON IT NOW!). Every 3 years I go threw the class and come out feeling that i lost hours of my life but at least i saved money on my car insurance. We just completed the 6 hour defensive driving class at David's and our instructor Yosef was funny, engaging and actually brought to light a bunch of things that I have never realized or thought about while driving. Here we are a few weeks later and i am realizing the things he presented in the class which is what spawned this review. Thank you Yosef and the entire helpful staff at David Driving School, it is so great to see a place that is not just about the money and wasting our time but about helping to educate better drivers. My eldest is 14 and will be coming by in a few years for lessons, i know you will take amazing care of him. read more

After living in NYC for most of my life and never needing to drive, I moved to rockland county and was afraid of taking class and learning to drive with people more than half my age. But staff at davids driving school made me feel clam and made my 5 our class breeze by and all of my driving lessons were great. The instructors have this way of teaching you to drive that makes everything feel natural. Never once did i feel they were frustrated or annoyed with any of my mistakes. They just point it out and encourage you. Having taken lessons at another school in rockland that didnt have as many instructors I can and fully recommend Davids to anyone at any age who need to learn to drive. it because of them that I passed my road test today. read more

This school is AMAZING!! I had such a great experience. Brian picked me up, and he gave me all his amazing guidance, he is so professional! He was patient, knowledgable, and he explained everything to me and made me so comfortable and confident. I was perfectly prepared for the moment of my test. Seriously beyond great!! I recently had the pleasure of taking driving lessons with Yaakov and Ray at DDS, and i can confidently say that it was a fantastic experienc. The instructors were patient, knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable behind the wheel. They provided clear instructions and constructive feedback, which helped me improve my driving skills in a short amount of time. This driving school is amazing! I am 17 years old and just got my licence two days ago. They really helped me all the way through the process. I took the Driver's Education course they offered which was great and very informative. I recommend you use Tom for lessons. He is very friendly and makes everyone feel comfortable and confident while still teaching you imperative tips needed to pass the road test and drive safely. David's Driving School is excellent at producing safe and competent drivers. All of the instructors have been extremely helpful in my journey to becoming a licensed driver, as well as the informative 5-hour course that they provide. However, Darla has been the biggest help in guiding me to passing after I had failed the road test in the past.
