WARNING! READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS DR. I had a breast revision by Dr. Joshua Halpurn in March of last year. He botched my left breast and put in the wrong size implants because he was confused on what " DO NOT GO SMALLER" means. I had a 540 implant and I told him I want the "same size or slightly larger" I was crystal clear and adamant about the size in every pre-op appointment. You have to be an idiot if you can't figure out that 470 will be SMALLER than 540. The doctor I just met with told me that to get the same size (saline to silicone implant) the conversion would have been to put in an implant around 580-600, depending on brand/ type of implant. You will always go up in cc's when converting. NOT DOWN. I know these sound like giant implants, but I am a natural A cup) That have would have given me the same size I had, which is a large D, borderline DD. He absolutely refused to acknowledge either issue, including that I was having a lot of pain. He had such a flippant "O-well" attitude. It took me several video calls and 4 post op appointments to get him to acknowledge anything! He still refused to admit to any wrong doing on his part. This is insanity. Here I am 16 months later, still have discomfort. I am getting a revision soon. Dr. Halpurn FINALLY told me that the left deformity is from my scar tissue which was a blatant lie. Essentially, he put the blame on me. You don't get scar tissue the very same day of the surgery. There was no scar tissue there before the surgery. I was simply switching out implants because my old saline implants were getting far apart, (27 years old) and had some ripping. Scar tissue doesn't cause squeezing of the breast and a square shape. He messed up. He sewed the pocket too high and too tight resulting in deformity and pain. As far as the sizing goes, he says, " oh, I thought you just wanted something "similar" I never said the word similar! Was this man not listening at all 3 appointments? Did he forget? Confused? This is actually scary to me. Another blatant lie he told me was that I have to get both implants the same size. With my past implants, the surgeon put in a difference of 40 cc's to even up the size and it worked. So, did these implants come out the same size? No, of course not. One side is clearly larger. The surgeon who is doing my revision told me that 9 times out of 10, the implants he puts in will be a slightly different size to even out the breasts because most people have one breast that is slightly bigger/ smaller than the other. How incompetent can a surgeon be?! No acknowledgment. No apology. No answers. No offer to redo them. NOTHING. He needs to retire! I'm furious that I have to go under anesthesia again, drop $$$, take the risk , the discomfort of recovery and time off work. All because of incompetence. BEWARE read more

I underwent a series of medical imaging tests, including multiple ultrasounds, mammograms, and x-rays. The test results reported negative for cancer, though they did not mention the extensive scar tissue that had formed around my implants. I had assumed that since he was doing it himself, the treatment would be exceptional- but it was far from. I recently had a total capsulectomy/ en bloc to remove my breast implants that I've had for 20 years. I can say that I was really nervous to have this surgery and how I might look after. Dr Halpern was great. I met with him twice over the last year before I was ready and he always took his time with me and never made me feel rushed. He even called me on the phone from his personal cell after work to answer some other questions I had and reassure me. I didn't want extra scars but I wanted some lift, so we agreed on a donut lift and so far everything has been healing nicely and I have a great shape. I had a reverse tummy tuck which is reported to be quite painful with a rather extensive recovery period.However, this was not the case with Dr. Halpern. Not only is my tummy now flat as a board but my recovery is quick and going extremely well. I had a "Tummy Tuck" done by Dr Joshua Halpern in Tampa Fl on Habana ave back in January of 2022. He removed some of the belly not all and left me with two saggy pockets on each side of the belly. I went to 8 different surgeons 7 months after and every single one of them said what happened? In 2013, this doctor changed my life and gave me back my tummy. Now in 2019 at 59 years old the results are still amazing. His expertise and qualifications bar none are masterful and his bedside manner is compassionate and understanding. To the person that may be considering having a procedure be it simple or more complex, I wanted to take the opportunity to share my story because for me it made a difference reading letters from previous patients and in this case I can see the importance of writing one. First, let me tell you that I had a unique circumstance that made everything more difficult. In 2008 I, unfortunately, underwent 4 major abdominal surgeries, two of them emergency and for the better part of a year had to wear a colostomy bag and deal with surgical hernias. Thankful to have survived the ordeal I went on about my life. I can tell you that having to look at my abdomen on a daily basis gave me two thoughts, one was that it was a badge of surviving what I had been through and the other was the disfigurement that I would forever have to hide. An additional complication for me was my body's tendency to produce scar tissue and I'm talking massive scar tissue which put me in a high-risk category for any surgery I might consider. In 2012 I began to consult with a couple of doctors to see if I might be a candidate for a tummy tuck and scar revision or if anything was a possibility for me. As luck would have it Dr Halpern was highly recommended to me by an anesthesiologist who had previously assisted him during surgery saying that the work he did was amazing. He made sure to tell me to make an appointment and consult with Dr Halpern before I made any decision. Ok, I added him to my list. Dr #1 took a look at my stomach and told me he wouldn't want to take the risk of having me leave in a box so ok I know to leave there promptly. Dr #2 asked for all of my medical records and after weeks of waiting and calling back to check I was finally told that she also felt the surgery was too risky for me and that she didn't want to take that risk. I didn't expect anything different from Dr Halpern, really. On our initial consult, I explained the nature of my surgeries, the massive scar tissue, the hernias, and so on. He explained to me the process of dealing with all the problems I presented. He requested the records of all of the surgical procedures to review first hand and within a few days, not weeks, I was told that he was confident that he could help me. I was excited but I was nervous. I had to make another appointment and I needed him to look me in the eye and tell me he was not scared of my scar tissue. I needed to feel that he was in control of whatever problem might present itself and I needed to feel that the odds were in my favor. We covered all of my concerns and surgery was scheduled. My family was concerned and they didn't want me to take any chances because after all, I was lucky to be alive. Dr Halpern could identify with my family's concern but he could also identify as to why I would like to physically and emotionally put that ordeal behind me. How nice it would be not to have that constant visual reminder. Ok, so now almost automatic pilot like I moved through the motions of my pre-op appointment, I couldn't believe I was really doing this but I trusted his confidence and followed his instruction to the tee. I write this letter 3 weeks post-op on the downhill side of my recovery and I've traded a multi scared disfigured tummy for a nice smooth one with one bikini line incision that looks amazing. Also, I need to mention that during my surgery Dr Halpern encountered another hernia from my previous surgeries that he expertly fixed and for the first time since my horrific experience I feel that I can truly put it behind me, body, mind, and spirit. On January 10, 2019 I had a tummy tuck procedure done. Although recovery was difficult and painful, within days of the procedure I was impressed with the results. I paid $9840 for the procedure, but many of the preoperative supplements and postoperative creams are an additional cost to that. (I interrupt to comment on one drawback of the way Dr. Halpern schedule his appointments is for follow up visits. You don't know the time of your appointment until noon that day and you are expected to get there within a couple of hours of whenever the office staff tells you he will be available. This is really difficult if you are working in the morning and especially if your home is quite a distance from the office it's not always easy to get there on such short notice.) When I went in for my three month postoperative appointment, I had begun to notice some asymmetry in my abdomen where one side stuck out further than the other. At this appointment, I had asked Dr. Halpern about fixing the problem as well as doing the remaining surgeries that I had been saving up for. We discussed liposuction on my thighs and arms and the possibility of a thigh lift and an arm lift. Instead of the lifts, he recommended J plasma, a new procedure that he was just getting the machine delivered to his office. On July 29, 2019, I had the following procedures done: Dr. Halpern was going fix my abdomen asymmetry, perform liposuction my thighs, my knees, and my arms. I was also going to be receiving the J plasma procedure on my arms and thighs and was told this would help with tightening the sagging skin that I had had. Even though I was told that recovery would be not as intense as after my tummy tuck, I soon realized that I was not going to be able to go return to work four days later as I had hoped. The bruising, the pain, and the swelling were extremely painful. Walking was almost impossible. After returning for my first postoperative appointment a few days after surgery, they removed the garments to look at the incision, the drains, etc. I was told everything looked good. When they went to put on the bloody garment back on my arms, I asked if I could have a clean one and the doctor asked his assistant to get me a new one. A week after surgery, I returned for another office visit. The pain and swelling in my right leg were unbearable and I was unable to go sleep, walk or go to work. After examining me, Dr. Halpern sent me immediately to the emergency room to have an ultrasound on my leg and rule out blood clots. My husband and I left the doctor's office in a panic to get to the emergency room, and we were stopped at the door by the office manager where we were told she needed to collect $130 for the replacement garment that I had had at my last visit. I tried to explain that nobody told me that it was going to cost that much for a replacement and that we were on our way to the emergency room, but she said she must collect payment before we could leave. My husband gave her the credit card and when she asked if we wanted a receipt, we said we couldn't wait for it we needed to get going to the ER. (At my next visit, the doctor did apologize and say he would get me some free sunscreen, which I never received.) After another $550 at the ER, I was sent home, luckily without evidence of a boot clot. The swelling in my right leg would go down, but the bruising would last another six weeks. I returned in the fall for my three month post-op visit. I expressed my concerns to the doctor about the appearance of my legs and arms. I was bumpier and lumpier and jigglier than I was before surgery. He took measurements and said I had indeed lost some inches. I agreed that you could see it in my lower arms, but that my legs and upper arms did it look any different. He really didn't have an answer but told me results could take up to ten months to a year. Well, here I am at a year. My weight is exactly the same, and I have been exercising regularly and eating clean with a calorie range of 800 to 1200 calories per day. As the photos show, there's no difference in my legs whatsoever. If anything, the bumps and lumps look worse than they did before. I went through an extreme amount of pain, a long recovery, and spent $13,755. All in all, the two procedures, a visit to the ER, clean bandage, supplements, etc. cost almost $25,000. This may not seem like a lot of money to many of his patients, but for this family that was quite a few years of saving. I wasted lots of tears crying because not only did I not gain the confidence I had hoped, it was even lower than before. I had breast augmentation surgery in 1996. Due to a rupture it was now time to have them removed. I feel very blessed to have found Dr. Joshua Halpern. I had a few consultations and was concerned with how I would choose the doctor. However, during my consultation with Dr. Joshua Halpern I knew he was my surgeon. Dr Joshua Halpern spent a good part of an hour going over all of my options for the procedure. He answered all of my questions before I asked them. He has a very kind and caring demeanor and you can tell he truly cares about his patients. Also, his office staff is just as incredible as he is. I ended up choosing to just have the explant without a lift. I am now one week post op and had my drains and stitches taken out today. The surgery went so well and I had so little pain that I only took one pain pill the night of the surgery. I didn't even need to take Tylenol. Hi Everyone I had my explant surgery on Friday January 8th. I had so many symptoms of BII but was completely discouraged by so many doctors that didn't believe or simply just hadn't researched it enough. I was lucky enough to hear about a plastic surgeon in Tampa, close to were I live. His name is Dr Joshua Halpern. When I went for a consultation with him I wasn't even able to tell him about all the symptoms I was have because of brain fog and simply being overwhelmed with how bad I felt. One of my symptoms was extreme joint pain along with pain in both of my breasts. Dr Halpern was so reassuring and showed me videos of previous patients that had similar experiences. I remember just crying because it was just nice that my feelings were being validated. I scheduled my explant for January 8th. As my day approached I was hopeful but also a little skeptical to believe in the transformation I was about to go through. However I had the utmost confidence in Dr Halpern. I had gummy bear silicone implants above the muscle. The day of my surgery I was so excited just to get the implants out even if I didn't get relief from any of my symptoms. However, I was about to have the best experience of my life. After I got home from surgery I took half of a pain pill that the Dr had prescribed. I only took it because I wanted to stay ahead of any pain that I may have.I slept for 2 1/2 hours and I woke up feeling better than I had in such a long time. I had so much energy and felt amazing it wasn't until I was cooking dinner (yes cooking dinner) that I noticed that my joints all felt so much better. I mean 85 to 90%better. It was incredible. That night I took another 1/2 a pain pill not because I was feeling pain but because I was worried about starting to hurt once any numbing from surgery wore off. I only ended up taking 2 of the pain pills the rest of the time it was just Tylenol. Everyday since my surgery I have been up going to parks to take walks. I am overjoyed at how quickly my body has started to heal from symptoms and right now I'm 8 days post op. I want to thank Dr Joshua Halpern and his staff for the care they take to make you comfortable and confident through this process. I ended up having an explant with enbloc and a recruitment lift. This type of lift was design by Dr Halpern. My breast not only feel and look amazing but I noticed that my breast hurt before surgery and did not at all after surgery. Hello everyone if you are looking for a caring thorough doctor then Joshua Halpern is the doctor for you. I am a Black Caribbean woman from New York City and he was exactly the doctor I was looking for. I had an explant with a breast lift and I love my results. He was very caring about my needs. I wanted to make sure that all of my scar tissue was removed and he even sent out my tissues to be tested for cancer as a precaution. My before care was scheduled around my work schedule along with my after care. All my employment paperwork was done specific to my needs and if I needed revisions, the staff was very polite. The morning of my surgery was amazing. I was already excited to take my implants out. My nurse called me a couple days before and gave me pre op instructions. I filled my prescription and followed his orders. I walked into the surgery room and felt like I was there for 3 minutes. I went home happy sore and drowsy. Dr. Halpern called me the the and the next day after surgery to make sure everything was going well at home. I went in a few days later to have my stitches and drains cleaned. Then a few days later I got my drains taken out. I received a bag of gifts for my departure in addition to that I got flowers. I feel like I have a doctor for life. I had a 'mommy makeover' with another surgeon and the end result was very deflated and I was so discouraged.
