Dr. David Azure, who has been my optometrist for the past nine years. He's been nothing short of amazing. I have been a patient of Dr. David Aizuss for more than 20 years. He is an amazing physician & I feel fortunate to have this skilled professional in my life. Though I know from his academic background that he is brilliant, Dr Aizuss' expert knowledge is evident in every aspect of his medical practice. This doctor not only sees me at my annual exams, but I trusted him to perform both of my cataract surgeries this year. Knowing that Dr Aizuss was my surgeon, I was confident that my eye operations would be successful even prior to each surgery. In fact, both surgeries were easy and for the first time in half a century, I see perfectly thanks to Dr Aizuss. I remember one time several years ago on a Saturday morning, I panicked because I saw something floating in my eye. Dr Aizuss dropped everything, which included leaving his parents who were visiting from Chicago, & rushed to his office to see me. Dr Aizuss has a great sense of humor and an incredibly kind and caring bedside manner. I always have an easy time talking to him & leave conversations feeling validated & reassured. There is no other doctor who has been in my life as long as Dr Aizuss and I cannot say enough wonderful things about his level of expertise as an ophthalmologist & a surgeon as well as the excellent way he interacts with patients. read more

Dr. Aizuss is fine, from all indications. However, his operation is run much more like a factory, or an assembly line to be specific, than a doctor's office. You are efficiently and methodically shuttled from one exam room to the next to the waiting area to the next room to the second waiting area to the last room and then finally (whew) to pay the tab. Lost in this efficiency, if you can call it that, is any modicum of personal attention. I have been trying for three straight days now to get them to explain to me my contact lens prescription, as it appears to conflict with my glasses script and also appears to be incomplete. I have called the office at least 6 times and each time have been told that the contact lens guy will have to call me back. Meanwhile, I need new contacts! Dr. Aizuss himself is ok, but he delegates most of the work to his underlings. Must be nice. Update: I finally spoke with the contact lens guy, a full week after first calling. He was very helpful and cleared up my questions. I then proceeded to order my special contact lenses from www.foreyes.com. They charged me $183, including shipping. If I bought from Dr. Aizuss? $400. I went to Ophthalmology Associates of the Valley a little over a month ago because I had a blurry spot in my right eye. In brief: I paid for a full visit and got less than five minutes with the doctor. I feel I was scammed out of $50 for an eyeglasses prescription I did not want, need, or ask for and they attempted to pressure me into buying frames. Additionally, the reason I went to the doctor in the first place (the odd blurry spot) was not addressed in any meaningful matter and still persists to this day. My appointment was with Dr. Aizuss, but that is not who I saw initially. I am not sure the doctor I first saw, but he was much younger. He was really friendly, and did all of the preliminary work--going over my medical history, etc. He seemed nice and asked if I needed an eyeglasses Rx and told me it was going to be an additional fee if I did and that it was his opinion my existing prescription was fine. I told him I didn't need a new prescription, but that I'd come specifically because of the odd blurry spot in my vision. After the first doctor saw me, I had a very long wait in an intermediate waiting room where it seemed I was forgotten. Someone arrived to take me to have pictures of my eyes taken, but the machine was apparently broken. Then they were interrupted and told by a nurse/assistant that no, I wasn't to have any pictures of my eyes taken. Finally, after almost an hour from when I first arrived, I saw Dr. Aizuss, who I had booked my appointment with. He looked in each eye very quickly and said he saw nothing wrong. Then, without telling me he was testing me for a prescription (I thought it was part of the exam), he had me look in the refractor and, after less than a minute of swiftly doing, "Which one looks better?" he wrote me a new eyeglasses prescription. Dr. Aizuss, without really listening to my problem, dismissed it as a problem with my glasses prescription and suggested I buy new glasses through the company. This all took 5, maybe 10 minutes tops. Afterward, I found out that I had no choice but to pay the additional $50 fee for the "optional eyeglasses RX." When I told the person at the front desk I had, in fact, said I didn't want an eyeglass prescription more than once, they told me that it was the doctor's discretion and I *had* to pay the fee. But, that I would get a discount on new glasses, which I didn't want, need, or ask for. So, bottom line, I was essentially forced to pay $50 for an RX the doctor spent LESS than 2 minutes on and that I had no intent of using (sorry, I trust the original prescription from the doctor who spent more than a minute total going through the slides with me, which was less than a year old). Worst of all: Dr. Aizuss was not unfriendly, but he gave no explanation for the blurry spot and strongly intimated that it was in my imagination. It's very frustrating to be patronized and told that your actual health problems are imagined. Especially given how little time the doctor spent with me and the lack of explanation he gave beyond, "I don't know, maybe your glasses prescription is wrong." (even after I tried to explain that the blurry spot exists even when I haven't worn my glasses for a few days). Most aggravating, since my visit, the blurry spot has become worse and more distracting. Going to the eye doctor is expensive, and after being treated so dismissively, I really hesitate about going to a new doctor. So now I'm in a quandary. It's already difficult to find time during the work-week to visit a doctor, not to mention expensive. read more

I was referred to Dr. Aizuss for DSEK corneal transplants. Not only did I received the most thorough and conscientious care, his skill and expertise in this procedure was amazing. My world had become increasingly blurry and difficult to navigate. Today the change is miraculous. His office is the WORST. Aizuss told me to see him every 6 months due to a concern about potential glaucoma. Six months later his office cancels my appointment on the night before. When I tried to reschedule they couldn't fit me in for several months, despite canceling me on short notice and without regard for my worsening medical condition. How receptionist couldn't be less friendly or helpful. Thanks for showing so much concern for my eye health, Aizuss and staff. One way or another, I won't be seeing you again. read more

I went to Dr. Aizuss as a new patient. WHAT A MILL/ASSEMBLY LINE! He did not seem up to date on technology and did not want to waste his time explaining my eye problems to me. When my prescription for glasses was filled, it was the wrong prescription. Glass people at Costco told me to go back to my Doc and have him refit me with the proper prescription. read more

I found Dr. Aizuss' tone to be condescending. He treated me like a woman who didn't know what I was talking about. After prescribing allergy drops for me which my insurance plan wouldn't cover, neither of his offices followed through with filling out a pre-authorization form or phoning in a different drop. I asked them to just have him phone in a different kind. It took him a week to call me back and he waffled about on his message, not knowing what my pharmacy was nor which drop to phone in. I went to a different doctor by this time, who diagnosed something totally different and treated me with respect and compassion. I will never return to this office. read more

Dr. Aizuss has been my ophthalmologist for years. He also attended to my mother, who was in her late 90's/early 100's. He has always been respectful and thoroughly professional. He does not have a one-treatment-fits-all approach, taking fully into account the individual patient he is seeing. Owch! This guy actually hurt me & didn't even care! I am always scared when I get my eyes examined, so I warned the doctor in the beginning that I'm easily scared & very sensitive with my eyes. I was hoping he'd be extra gentle, but he was NOT -- he was horrible. He physically forced my eyes open (against my will), despite me telling him to STOP & wait a minute. It was a HORRIBLE experience and very unprofessional. Kind of like a Clockwork Orange experience... I probably should have made a formal complaint against him.... but I didn't want to. I just want to warn anyone else who might be looking for a professional and/or gentle doctor to STAY AWAY from this one. He is very creepy in my book. read more

I've read some of the old reviews and my experience with Dr. Aizuss has been nothing but warm and personal. His staff is terrific as well. Dr. Aizuss has addressed all of my issues and answered all of my questions in a thorough and friendly manner. I am very particular about choosing my physicians and, push comes to shove, would you rather have bedside manner or the best? I choose the best and got it all with Dr. Aizuss. I've been his patient for many, many satisfied years. I have a friend who was in the bio-medical field for my years and is in need of an ophthalmologist but is terrified of the prospect of eye surgery. He accompanied me on my second eye surgery and was so impressed with how friendly yet professional the OAV staff was and with Dr. Aizuss himself that he promptly scheduled an appointment with Dr. Aizuss without any of the trepidation that he felt regarding his condition before meeting Dr. Aizuss. My results, absolutely terrific! Dr. Aizuss had been monitoring my developing cataracts and when the time was right he performed my cataract surgeries, one eye at a time a week apart. We discussed the various lens options and selected the one that suited my particular needs. Not all lenses are the same and whichever type you select, the lenses themselves have to be custom made for you and optically correct for you. Because of my medical and physical characteristics, my cataract surgeries presented challenges that Dr. Aizuss handled with ease. Dr. Aizuss fully explained my situation and all my many questions, before and after the procedures. My vision is now better than 20/20, field and depth of vision perfect and natural, truly a gift! read more

I go to the West Hills location and have found the office and staff warm and pleasant. I have had one appointment at the Encino office and was also VERY put off by the "assembly line" operation. I will never go back to that office. Dr. Aizuss and the other doctors are very friendly but, even in the West Hills office, they are in and out lickity split! They move you right along. read more

You always feel that you are very important to them and they always take extra time to answer your questions. You can view Dr. Aizuss' credentials on line, so I won't repeat them here. Suffice to say, he is a highly respected ophthalmic surgeon with impressive qualifications and we would not think of going anywhere else for our vision care needs. The professional treatment we receive at his West Hills and Encino offices is always exemplary. Dr. Aizuss recently performed cataract surgery on both my eyes. The whole process, from appointment coordination, lens measurements, the surgery itself and follow up visits was handled flawlessly by the team so that I never felt alone in the process. I am thrilled with the final results and can now see without glasses.
