Dr. David Fields is a wonderful doctor. I have four healthy children, all cared for during pregnancy and delivered by Dr. Fields. When I had my first appointment with him, some 8 years ago, I had just suffered a miscarriage at 10 weeks. Dr. Fields ordered extensive testing/blood work and as it turned out I suffer from thrombophilia, which simply means my blood clots very easily. After a thorough exam with a hematologist, she suggested I take some form of blood thinner throughout the pregnancy. Dr. Fields and I both agreed I would do daily Lovenox (blood thinner) shots up until a few days before delivery. Had he not sent me for such extensive blood work, this condition may never have been detected and who knows how many other miscarriages I might have had. With Dr. Fields I always feel like I'm being kept in the loop of things and he makes sure I am fully aware of my situation, may it be good or bad. He doesn't sugar coat things, but he always makes you feel like there are other options and nothing is so awful that there isn't a solution out there somewhere. My first was born full term. My second pregnancy was pretty uneventful and again another beautiful full term baby was born. My third pregnancy was not eventful until at 32 weeks I had to go on bed rest in order to prevent premature labor. Dr. Fields had me in for biweekly visits and was monitoring me like a hawk. I had all of his contact numbers, cell, home, you name it and I never thought twice about calling him on the weekends on in the middle of the night if I felt that something was not right. I always felt completely reassured and cared for by Dr. Fields. Our baby was born full term and healthy. My fourth we prepared for, or at least we thought. This time I started to go into preterm labor at 25 weeks. I was on bed rest for 3 long months. I was worried and scared but I knew deep down that Dr. Fields would get me to full term and I was so grateful to be in his care. Number 4, and our last, was born full term and healthy. When he is in the delivery room with you and your unborn baby you want no one else there but him. When the right choices need to be made, he gets the job done. We went to him via a referral. We cannot count the number of friends who have positively consulted this brilliant man. I am 43 and have been seeing Dr. Fields for 13 years. One of the differences I noticed upon first visiting Dr. Fields was that the office staff consisted of one very capable nurse and Dr. Fields. The intimate feel of the office really lends itself to the nature of the practice, and I always feel comfortable and relaxed knowing that Dr. Fields and his one nurse are the only people seeing me in this somewhat vulnerable state. The office is well stocked with cookies and jelly beans, which add more comfort. There is a predictability about my visits that offers much, and I try not to take it for granted. Dr. Fields told me on my first visit that his preference was for patients to visit twice a year. The reason is simple; anything diagnosed within 6 months has a better chance of being cured. I saw this principle play out with a close relative who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in a routine visit at a 6 month interval. The relative is cancer free and has been for going on 8 years. Dr. Fields has counseled me through many life changes, and is always available to speak with me on health issues not directly related to gynecology. When I moved out of state I was reassured by the fact that Dr. Fields was a quick Amtrak trip away; I never entertained changing doctors. Whatever happens going forward with my health I am comforted by the presence of Dr. Fields in my life. I cant say enough about Dr Fields. I had several friends go to him and rave about him. Then after experiencing multiple miscarraiges myself a friend of mine called him on my behalf and he saw me immediately. He figured out what no other doctor could why my body was unable to carry a pregnancy. He treated me and is 100% responsible for the birth of my three year old little girl. After the birth of my daughter I tried to have another baby and ended up with a whole new series of other issues. Dr. Fields has been my doctor for almost 15 years. As his patient, I started out as a young single woman; then as a married woman trying to conceive; and now, as a mom of two. Throughout each stage of my life, he has provided excellent medical care, as well as incredible support and friendship. Dr. David Fields is an exceptional doctor and person. He has an investigative mind so I know that his methods of treatment are based on good science and not medical trends which can be quite fickle and founded on shaky research. I had been seeking help with hormone replacement therapy for several years but the doctors I had seen did not possess the level of knowledge to guide me. My endocrinologist recommended Dr. Fields and I am so glad he did. The way in which Dr. Fields treats his patients speaks to his great level of understanding and humanity. Dr. Fields has treated my family ages 13-54, cramps to hormone replacement. He is knowledgeable, caring and very firm about safety. Dr. Fields has that amazing balance of warm and respect making him a comfortable choice for the very young and the very old. He does not accept insurance but the lovely Giselle in his office does everything possible to help you get reimbursed to the degree you are eligible. Dr. Fields is that old fashioned kind of doctor who knows if you have skipped a mammogram, need a flu shot and he will hunt you down until you do what is in your best interests. He has taken the time to make sure I had a colonoscopy I didn't think I needed (I was so wrong) and he talked my sons young girlfriend off of a gyn cliff NY/Paris making sure that the pharmacy gave her the correct medication (translated into French) and made sure to follow up. Dr. Fields has been both my and my mother's doctor for well over 10 years now, and I cannot say how grateful I am for his incredible advice over the years. He has soothed our fears, helped us be strong through crises, and all the while, treated us with care and respect.
