To top it off I had a major personal item loss this year and State Farm had no issues taking care of the matter immediately. I applied for disability insurance through them and got denied after they went through my medical records with a fine tooth comb, telling me I was denied because of health conditions I do not have. If they would read the medical reports and tests correctly, they would know that. Granted, those reports are very complex, but I would hope they employ a doctor or someone who knows about these things to read through my medical history. I was denied without being able to explain anything (I truly think if we had a conversation before my denial we could have come to a great agreement) and now if I want to be insured, I have to go through a lengthy appeals process that I'm sure will take months. The hassle and frustration is just not worth it. It seems like they're just in it for the money, and will gladly take money from anyone who doesn't go to the doctor or have any medical history whatsoever. But if your experience is anything like mine, if there's anything even neutral in your medical history, they will find it and blow it out of proportion. I get they need to be smart about risk but the way they went about it left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this company, but am willing to reconsider my opinion/update my review if they are willing to reconsider their decision.
