As far as dental office visits go, my recent visit went really well. Although I have been to Pittsburgh Oral Surgery for prior dental work this was my first visit to their Fort Couch Road office. Normally I go to their Monroeville, PA office, rescheduled my appointment because of work related scheduling problems. Arrived approx. 7:00 AM for an 8:30 AM appointment and was warmly greeted and made to feel "right at home." The person working in the office asked me to update my existing on-file information. I asked if there was a place in the building to get a cup of coffee, she promptly offered to make me a cup; it was very good and appreciated. After returning the paper work a short wait ensued and then a dental assistant escorted me back to the place where the procedure would take place. The room was exceptionally clean with a great view out of a large window; all of the furniture and equipment seemed up-to-date and in a good state of repair. Next, I met Dr. Eric Smiga; he greeted me with a great smile and positive demeanor. He explained the upcoming procedure, reviewed my paperwork and x-ray, examined my tooth, discussed the potential implant, injected some painkiller, made sure I was comfortable and said he would return after a few minutes. In the interim, another person came in to explain costs and insurance terms & conditions; a very transparent and upfront process -- no surprises. Shortly thereafter Dr. Smiga returned for the "main event." He gave me an "insurance" injection of painkiller and proceeded to remove the tooth. Before I knew it, the procedure was complete and the dental assistant was explaining post extraction procedures that should be followed. Someone in the office called my prescription (an antibiotic) into my local pharmacy and I was good to go. Before leaving the office, arranged for a 1-week follow-up appointment with Dr. Smiga at their Monroeville office to make sure everything was healing the way it should. Someone, don't remember whom, suggested taking an over the counter pain pill as a proactive defense against pain when the procedure painkiller wore off. No problem had some Tylenol in the car. After arriving at my car, took a pain pill from my backpack and glanced at my watch before heading off to work -- it was 8:20 AM. I was out of there before my appointment was scheduled to start. Follow-up; took one Extra Strength Tylenol three times 6-hours apart after the extraction and have remained pain free, no issues. Had my follow-up visit this morning -- no problems, everything looks good. I don't think anyone looks forward to going to the dentist, but from beginning to end, Pittsburgh Oral Surgery made this a very positive experience.

Instead of merely requesting payment, I received a snarky comment from their receivables girl, stating they made me aware that day I owed the balance due. I paid what I was told that day and am not a mind reader! Buy yourself a personality and professional business skills, receivables girl!

I was a little stressed upon arrival, but was feeling much more calm during and after the procedure. Dr. Bianco did an excellent job making sure I was comfortable, and felt no pain, and Lynn was also excellent in assisting the doctor, and to me in making sure I knew what to do after the procedure. Everyone here was exceptionally nice. THANKS! P.S. UPDATE: Dr. Bianco called me at home in the evening to make sure everything was O.K. What a very nice, and caring Doctor.

Avoid this business. They turned in insurance claims for procedures that were Never Done. They…read moregot paid, and that amount was taken away from my available insurance benefits. They told me what my cost would be after insurance paid their part. I paid that amount prior to beginning my dental work. when the work was almost done, they said I owed them more money. That amount was almost $4,00.00 more than what I was told, and already paid. AVOID this business. Especially if you are a Senior Citizen like me.

The dentist seemed average but the young girl cleaning teeth did not clean half of my teeth. She…read morecompletely missed the outside of both top sides of my teeth and completed the cleaning in under five minutes. She sucks bad and needs trained or managed properly. I don't think she is qualified to be a dental tech. I watched her do my son after myself and the same thing. We will not be returning here EVER. We were both complete in under twenty minutes and she attempted to reschedule before we were done. No X-rays taken on me(first time here) or my child's filing was not completed which was the whole point of this visit for him. The dentist stated he would be right back to fill it but we were basically pushed out the door by the tech and she said reschedule to get it filled when the dentist clearly said he would be right back. DO NOT GO HERE! I never leave reviews but had to here.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Dr. Maher Khandji on the extraction he performed…read moreon my tooth recently. The tooth roots were very stubborn to get out, but Dr. Khandji was excellent, pausing every so often to make sure I was feeling okay. At one point he added a little more novocaine just to make sure I remained comfortable, and he got the job done very well! I liked that Dr. Khandji listend and answered all of my questions before the procedure. He explained to me everything to do after the proceedure. He wanted me back the next day just to check and make sure I was healing correctly, which I appreciated. I was also super impressed with his office staff. His assistant was an oral surgeon, was very kind and helpful in the proceedure. The front office staff was great -- they got me into the office the very next day to deal with my painful, broken tooth. Overall, it was an excellent experience. I will return to this site and get my tooth implant and I will utilize their services for any other dental work I need. I was very, very pleased with every aspect of their service. His offices are very warm and profesional which put me at immediate ease. His office and services would get a 10 from me!
