I had an overdraft of $5.00 By the time I received the notice over a week later, the fee had doubled to $70 I went in there asking for them to forgive one of the fees. We are after all in the middle of a pandemic and I had technically been with the Same bank for 20 years! Well, they would not give me the courtesy. I paid my $70 fee and closed my account.

I have a loan with them and every December they'd send me a letter accusing me of not renewing my home insurance and they had to buy emergency insurance for my home and I had to pay them back. Of course I did no such thing and letting them know is always a big adventure - I had to contact my insurance and get the proper document then fax it to them and they never receive it. I'd then email it to them and they never receive it. I usually have to flag down somebody at Sterling, alert them to my situation and send that person the document. Repeat this process yearly at Dec when many employees are out. Then there is the thing with the ATM where every cash deposit is also an adventure. Many times it just flat out say: Sorry we can't accept your deposit; and left it at that. I don't understand why a bank would be so oppose to taking my cash but ok. Then there is the mystery of sending me my verification code. You might think - texting me verification code is a simple process, no? Eh, but Sterling doesn't text, no, that'd be too easy - they literally call my phone and tell me my code. Which is not a biggie but it gets annoying because every time I log in or do any transaction, it calls me. I makes me wonder what happens if the client has a hearing problem?
