I found Jay through Yelp while I was comparing different loan quotes. As a first time homebuyer, the whole loan process seemed daunting and unclear, especially after the first few responses I got from loan originators only mentioned very rough estimates of closing costs and very little detail on how these estimates were calculated. Jay really stood out to me because from the get go, he provided a detailed itemized breakdown of the estimated closing costs of the loan, how much the monthly mortgage would cost, and many other relevant figures. This was the transparency I was looking for, and it really differentiated him from the other loan officers I talked to. He provided these figures at different loan options and would recalculate them while I was viewing different homes. This really helped me get a great sense of what I was signing up for and allowed me to better plan when considering different homes. Jay is phenomenal! He made many promises and kept them all! We went with the first lender we found for our first house, but friends told us to shop around for our second home. I'm glad we did! Our past lender offered us a super high-interest rate. So I decided to shop around and found Jay online. He had stellar reviews, so I gave him a chance. What I loved most was that he was knowledgeable and cut straight to the chase. Instead of having us jump through hoops, he asked a series of questions and gave us the rough numbers without filling out any app. He was confident he could offer x interest and x down based on the info I verbally gave him. Ultimately, he did even better than he told me on the phone. The process was swift. We received pre-approval in a day and final loan approval in 10 days. Jay Sondhi helped me close on my home in LA right around 30 days as originally promised, which is remarkable for a big bank (bank of America requires at least 35 days). US bank also had the most competitive rates for a jumbo loan product largely because the bank is wanting to issue these loans to hold on their books in their portfolio. Jay was professional, extremely responsive, and has a very capable team to help educate me on the mortgage options available to me and the process of applying for a loan. There is an unavoidable level of bureaucracy at any large financial institution, but Jay helped me to navigate that by ensuring all my documents were in order and having very good communication with internal constituents. He went above and beyond and chased loan processors and underwriters on behalf of me given my tight timeline. He literally moved mountains. I felt that he took my loan personally, and I could not have asked for a mortgage banker who cared more about my situation and timelines than him. Jay also goes above and beyond in the initial stages of the home purchase. In addition to a pre approval letter, when I made an offer for my home, Jay actually wrote a personalized letter with the address of the home I made an offer on affirming my financial situation and letting the seller know that there would be no issues with loan approval. Buying a home in a competitive market with a tight timeline can be stressful. Jay will do everything he can within his power to help make things work out.
