Zero stars. I am a prior patient and my experience was an absolute nightmare. It is very obvious that Dr. Kung did not have my best interest at heart. When I came back for a follow up appointment months after my initial experience, he just had his staff try to suck more money out of me. Please, do not go here for any type of service. Ask around, check Washingtonian's list of top docs and get second/third opinions. I wish I had never stepped foot in this office. I spent so much money here in the past and I know I would have had a much better outcome had I gone somewhere else. NEVER EVER rely on credentials or marketing alone! Beware of Dr. Kung - he has a seemingly nice "bedside manner" but I question if he knows anything about dental implants. I suggest that he stick to plastic surgery, not dental implants! Unfortunately he has performed two dental implants on me and both have caused me much pain, aggravation and money! I have had to re-do both implants with another periodontist at a high financial cost. To make matters worse, that periodontist had never heard of Dr. Kung as a practitioner in the field of oral surgery or periodontia and questioned if he is in fact, a plastic surgeon . When the other periodontist removed the screws that Dr. Kung used in my implants, he was surprised that the screws were some unusual brand with which he was unfamiliar. Disastrous! Today I noticed that Dr. Kung has placed an ad on "Groupon" where he is offering 20 units of Xeomin for Wrinkles reduced from $450.00 to $179.00. Beware!!!!!!!! read more

Basically new to the area after having been gone for 10 years. Was looking for a new place to go for Dysport and stumbled upon a Groupon and figured I would try this Physician based on his high reviews. Start to finish, from making the appointment, receiving by email my documents to fill out prior to my visit, to the IMMACULATE office and very warm greeting from the staff, it was like a dream. I have been having Dysport for the last 10 -15 years and NO ONE has spent as much time getting to know me, educating me, and taking a genuine interest in my results, more than Dr. Kung did. A very gentle doctor who tells you what you're getting into and explains everything you can expect. He takes the time to answer your questions and does not try to pressure you into a procedure. You can expect Dr. Kung to be focused on you the patient. He focuses on your needs and what you want to know first. Additionally, he has a big heart. Last summer he and his wife travelled to Nepal to provide dental and surgical procedures for people who could not afford such forms of health care. My orthodontist recommended Dr. Kung to me and he is conveniently located up the road from Dr. Donald and Dr. Christopher Liang's DC office. Grace is Dr. Kung as well as Dr. Lin's and Dr. Kang's receptionist. The three share the suite and I've found Grace to be extremely helpful. She is great with scheduling, but because Dr. Kung is not always in the office due to having to perform surgeries, his appointments are more sparse. I did appreciate it when Grace called me to reschedule me for earlier than my original appointment. The office made a mistake scheduling me for the week that Dr. Kung and Dr. Lin were due in Nepal. Great clean office. The office front has a really chill and zen vibe to it. There are chimes, a fountain, nice furniture, cool decor, and a plasma TV with ocean movies. I guess when you're in Bethesda people aren't kidding with the overhead. When visiting Dr. Kung you can expect to be lead to one of his state of the art consultation suites. A receptionist leads you in and you can get pretty comfy in the ivory leather chairs. Dr. Kung's office will offer you water, tea, or other drinks while you wait. You'll also hear soothing and charming music by Enya and Coco Lee. Trained as a dentist before becoming receiving further training in plastic and maxillofacial surgery, you can expect to be in good hands. Dr. Kung is professional and is a member of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Society of Plastic Surgery. Oh, and did I mention he graduated from Harvard? He also has great rapport with local hospitals like Georgetown University Hospital and Sibley Hospital. Each time I've visited the office I was able to find street parking. However, if you are a Chevy Chase Bank customer there is a parking lot that gives validations for people visiting the bank which is at the corner. I've always gotten to Dr. Lin's very early and the bank was never open for me to have benefited from this. Grace informed me that people park at the Giant across the street and get parking validation from Giant. Supposedly, that only costs a dollar. The office is in a high rise office building and is a very fitting for a Bethesda office building. It's also conveniently located near the Friendship Heights metro station. If you don't want to drive you can just take the red line and walk a block and a half. I would recommend Dr. Kung even if I weren't getting surgery from him. But because I do plan to, I'd like to add that he is extremely mindful of his patients financial needs and will do his best to work with people. But also be aware that his consultations range from $150-$200. This fee gets deducted from the total surgical cost when services are rendered. Dr. Kung does not accept insurance but will be happy to provide any codes to help you if you choose to file for reimbursement from insurance yourself. read more

So, this Dr. is also an oral surgeon. I called the office to see if they accept my insurance. When I asked if a consultation was free (which would answer the question of whether an oral bone graft would be considered medical or dental as well as other pertinent questions related to my prospective treatment), the lady with poor English language skills that answered the phone said that, no, it is not free, and no, she could not tell me the price for a consult...and then she went on to (try) to explain that billing was done through insurance. No shit, really? I thought billing was done through my local dry cleaners. Who goes into a consult with a mysterious price tag to be announced after the fact? After calling around at least 30 oral surgeons to have my wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible since I was experiencing excruciating pain, I finally found one that was willing to do a same day consultation and surgery. The process went over very smoothly and Dr. Kung's receptionist was able to answer most of my questions beforehand and was pretty organized. I was able to email her my dental x-rays to show Dr. Kung just in case before I came in. Though I was apprehensive about meeting him for the first time and having surgery that same day, he definitely made me feel comfortable. He has a quirky sense of humor and assured me throughout the whole thing - it all turned out OK and I was thankful for his attentive staff! read more

He explained things well but I did not appreciate "do you still get your period" and "are you pregnant" with an apologetic "sorry I have to ask" (um, why would you say "sorry"? it is beyond rude and yes I can get pregnant) questions + statements like that which are not only irrelevant to getting cosmetic procedures (and clearly out of his realm of expertise as he is not a PCP or OBgyn) but also show age discrimination / rudeness toward women over a certain age. For these reasons alone I would never go to this office. There is nothing like going to get a cosmetic procedure and someone making you feel "less than." read more

Zero star to you Dr. Kung !! This is the worst experience I could ever imagine. I had a procedure to remove my eye bags, the result was horrible to say the least. When I went back for a follow-up, the front desk staff could not even face me, but this Dr. Kung had the nerve to lie into my face, he kept telling me that I looked great and result was nothing but expected. Dr. Kung, a degree from Harvard doesn't entitle you to lie to your client. The truth is that to this day I cannot even face a camera, what a great job you did !! This is an excellent practice. I was recommended to Dr. Kung when a mole on my face had to be removed due to changes. He took a good amount of time beforehand to explain what the surgery would entail. And because the surgery would be in such a visible spot, he took care to make the incision line match my natural facial lines, and he made the stitches subcutaneous. He was happy to answer all of my questions, and in the follow-up visit Dr. Kung advised on ways to speed healing of the line. Most importantly, the surgery itself was done flawlessly. He and his team put me at ease while the surgery was on-going, I didn't even need pain medication afterward, and the incision line was angled so well that my friends didn't notice anything was there on the day I had my stitches out. Finally, the receptionists and his assistant were friendly and professional. I would recommend Dr. Kung's practice in a heartbeat. read more

The doctor's demeanor is even, calm, and warm, and he put me at ease. After a series of thoughtful questions that addressed a full sense of health and wellness, he outlined my options, and I felt the space to ask questions and empowered to make my own decision regarding treatment options. When you do your research on Dr. Kung, you will find that he is a well respected surgeon with multiple degrees from Ivy League institutions and accredited by medical societies. His demeanor is one of a high level of knowledge and experience coupled with real kindness. You just don't see that sort of gentleness and attentiveness anymore. My surgery went very well and I now have a level of self confidence that was missing for many years. "Plastic Surgery" was something I thought only people in Hollywood received. Dr. Kung is a terrible doctor and only cares about money. He ruined my nose and it's take 4 surgeries with a different surgeon just to fix his mistakes. When I notified the board about Dr. Kung's malpractice and threatened to sue, only then did Dr. Kung ever check up on me. However, when he realized that I wasn't going to sue after awhile, he never called me back. Dr. Kung only checked up on me when he thought his reputation was in danger. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO HIM. I recently had Rhinoplasty surgery for a deviated septum and nose tip reduction with Dr. David S. Kung as the attending surgeon. Dr. Kung is very professional, competent and and deliberate. Although I'm not fully healed yet, I'm extremely pleased with the procedure and recovery, thus far. Dr. Kung thoroughly explains the procedure(s) up front, conducts a thoughtful pre-op briefing with the patient, checks in post-op, and has diligent follow-up appointments to ensure the procedure heals and that recovery is complete. An awesome oral surgeon. I first saw him about 2 years ago when he outlined what could be done to fix my overbite on a recommendation from an orthodontist. After the two doctors talked Dr. Kung laid out the plan for my procedure. He's very calm and open communication. Any questions or concerns I had were answered promptly and he was very clear of what I would expect in the recovery process.(was pretty accurate about what he recovery process would be like too), and made sure I knew what I was getting into. Dr. Kung was also available by phone after my surgery to offer advice whenever I ran into any problems. The receptionists are very helpful. Although there is one lady who does not speak english well at all so there may be some problems there. I usually end up talking to a asian male who is fluent in english. As for financial side of things, I do not know what he average cost of my procedure(there were 3) would cost so I cannot say if they were overpriced or not. From what I saw it seemed very reasonable. Dr. Kung arranged for an overnight stay at the hospital and the supplies for surgery at a discount because my insurance refused to help cover the cost. There's also payment plans you can set up to pay. Overall a wonderful experience and definitely recommended for oral surgery. read more

I recommend Dr. Kung and his staff. I first met Dr. Kung during my consultation. Dr. Kung explained the procedure in detail and was very honest in telling me what options would and would not suit me. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. His relaxed demeanor made me feel comfortable. I scheduled my surgery immediately after my consultation, though there was no pressure to do so. His prices are reasonable. His office manager is very friendly and helpful with scheduling convenient appointments and answering billing questions. My surgery started promptly, as scheduled. His surgical staff made me feel at ease -- even practicing a reflexology-type technique which significantly reduced my stress and anxiety at the start of my procedure. I have been continually impressed with my follow-up visits; Dr. Kung continues to thoroughly answer every question I have. He has an ability to make you feel like you are his only patient, even taking time to immediately review before and after photographs. Overall, my experiences have only been positive.
