This is a follow-up to my 2025 review, when I was planning my breast reduction surgery following my breast cancer treatments. Well, Dr. Pinell successfully completed my breast reduction in October 2025. I was a 36DDD, and now I'm a perfect 36D. I look great, and I can't be more satisfied with the results. Most importantly, the reduction reduces the likelihood that the cancer will return to the tissue removed. Although there are no guarantees, it is worth considering. Meaning, I'm smaller now, less tissue, less tissue for the cancer to return to. Dr. Pinell performed an incredible job. During my last visit to my Primary care doctor, who is an older woman, she stated that in her 40+ years of practice, she has seen many breast surgeries; this was the first reduction where the breasts were even. Also, my Oncologist was so impressed that she mentioned I should be an advertisement for Dr. Pinell. Seriously, my breasts look fantastic, and I'm over 60. Dr. Pinell did my DIEP flap reconstruction after double mastectomy due to my stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis. She is an artist. I feel more beautiful than I ever have. She is kind and gracious and so thoughtful. Her skills are unmatched. I would recommend her to everyone seeking help with any type of plastic surgery. I had a breast lift and reduction with Dr. Davidson 6 years ago. I have referred several friends, and at least one of them had surgery at DAVinci as well. I referred a friend recently, and she scheduled her appointment 3 weeks ago. She completed all of the paperwork and made sure they accept her insurance. They called her 2 days before the appointment to tell her that 4:30 Friday appointments are for patients that pay out of pocket only, and that she must come in at 2:30 on Friday. She cannot take off work with such short notice to come in at 2:30 on a Friday. This policy is not stated online. It is clearly one they made up so they would not have to work later on a Friday. I am disappointed and would not recommend this practice to anyone if you wish to be treated with respect. I question the level of care if they schedule appointments based on how you will pay for the procedure. I will no longer refer anyone to this practice! read more

I was under the care of Dr. Davison for the reconstruction portion of my treatment for Stage III breast cancer. He was recommended by my medical team at Sibley, and for good reason. He communicated well with my team and with me, making clear to me my options for reconstruction before my mastectomy. I opted for a single mastectomy and a DIEP flap reconstruction, which uses abdominal fat to reconstruct the breast rather than an implant. He worked seamlessly with my breast surgeon during the mastectomy and insertion of an expander while I underwent treatment. He knew how scared I was and my family was - my parents in particular - and had a wonderful bedside manner with them and with me. My parents STILL talk about how nice he was, even a couple of years later. The DIEP flap surgery is intense - and he made sure I knew what I was getting into in terms of the stress of the surgery and the recovery. I always felt supported during recovery, and he was also supportive of physical therapy to get my abdominal strength back. DIEP flap usually requires a revision surgery after. He offered liposuction but without any pressure to do so. I did opt for it and the final results of both the reconstruction and liposuction have been fantastic. In sum, I always felt like I was in good hands with Dr. Davison, and recommend him highly. read more

Be careful if you plan on cancelling appointment at this place. I understand that if you cancel 24-48 hours in advance there is a charge but they charge you $150 if you reschedule 3 times even though you have called to reschedule more than couple of weeks in advance. I had scheduled an appointment which I rescheduled more than a week in advance as I was traveling for work. The second time, the office told me that the doctor is unable to make it so I said ok and then they rescheduled it. The third time I called to reschedule on Sep 14 for an appointment which was on Oct 1. The receptionist blatantly tells me that she is going to charge me $150 because I'm rescheduling the third time. She didn't even check her call logs to see the previous reasons why it was rescheduled. I really wanted to have to see the doctor for a possible surgery but there are 10 doctors in the NOVA/DC region with the same skillset and better customer service. If you are planning on having a surgery, the recovery is as important and most of the time the credit goes to front desk with ease of scheduling the appointments. I cannot figure out how this clown made it through medical school. Everyone, medical students and others know you do not cut off a diabetic's insulin supply. I am a diabetic. I never take off my insulin pump. Yet, Leonardo DaVinci's nurse informed me he could not do surgery while the pump was on and connected. Calling himself DaVInci is suspect. Dr. Davison is the consummate professional. And as a professional isn't obligated to tell you what you want to hear, but to offer what is the optimal recommendation based on his many years of experience. Kind, thorough, nonjudgmental, and meticulous. That said, I've had more than one surgical procedure performed by Dr. Davison and his surgical team. Each time I was well informed of the procedure details, expected outcomes, risks, and recovery. The process was collaborative, taking into account my desired outcomes and talking through best options and why. My outcomes have been amazing and beautiful and my investments of both time and financial resources have been worth every cent and minute (costs inline with what I expected). Medicine/surgery is a practice and not everyone is a good candidate, and since I am no surgeon I rely on his expertise and judgment. There's no hard sell, just hard facts. It feels a little weird to be writing a review of a surgeon, but I know how helpful other's reviews were when I was choosing my doctor... It hasn't been too long since my rhinoplasty, so I'm still waiting on the final results, but I could not be happier with Dr. Davison and the whole staff. Some reviews point out that Dr. Davison is a little forward. In my opinion, he was the only doctor I met with who wasn't also a salesman during the consultation. People who are looking for the right plastic surgeon may be shocked when they come to DAVinci and aren't bombarded with sales techniques. Dr. Davison was always very polite, knowledgeable, and made me feel very comfortable with the prospect of surgery. As for the rest of the team, they are caring, attentive, and accessible. The nurses, medical assistants, and the administrative team were amazing. I am still waiting on my final results, which for rhinoplasty can take awhile to become evident, but I'm so happy when I look in the mirror. SO happy. Even though my nose was broken, only a week after surgery I have no facial swelling or bruising (thanks to a great surgeon), and I can see my amazing new nose! Dr. Davison did a wonderful job!! STAY AWAY! I saw Dr. Davison for a labiaplasty. After the initial surgery, the results were extremely asymmetrical, so I scheduled a revision surgery. After the revision, my results were still asymmetrical. I scheduled a post-op visit with him several weeks later to discuss. He was a no-show for my visit and upon arrival, I was told that I would instead be seeing the "practice manager", who was not a doctor. Why is someone who is not a doctor seeing my naked body and rating the results? Following that visit, I tried several times to re-schedule a visit with Dr. Davison, and each time I tried to schedule something, I was told he was "out of the office." On one side of my body, my sutures were so tight they caused extreme pain. On the other side, too much was cut away during the procedure, which also caused extreme pain while my skin tried to stretch to accommodate the loss. A note on patient care for this practice: give your patients post-op instructions (I had to google the procedure to figure out the proper way to care for myself) and a list of supplies prior to their procedure. That way, they don't have to go to CVS in pain and covered in bandages. Not to mention the risk of popping stitches - which did happen to me while I was standing in line buying supplies, and was treated as no big deal when I called the practice because I couldn't stop bleeding heavily for three days. read more

Dr. Pinell performed a cyst removal on my knee, which was very scary for me, personally. This was my third cyst removal in the last several years and the first two (with other doctors) did not go well at all. I fainted during both previous operations and ended up with scars as well. During my pre-surgery appointment, I ran through the same routine with Dr. Pinell as with the other doctors. I told her I'm not good with surgery and will most likely faint during the operation. Dr. Pinell took note of that and when it came time for the actual surgery, she did something no other doctor, whether surgeon or otherwise, has done for me: she came prepared based on my personal needs. Dr. Pinell brought in some ice water and a cold towel for my neck and forehead and was assisted by a nurse (I think, apologies if she was a Doctor too!) who was ready to deal with me should I faint (I did). On top of that, before even beginning, Dr. Pinell actually genuinely and sincerely made absolutely sure I was 100% comfortable. I've never had a Doctor treat me like an individual, and I have almost always had a PPO, so it isn't like I've been going to poor doctors with bad insurance. One of the best things about all this: she actually waited until I came back to from my fainting spell before performing the surgery, something the other two doctors did not wait to do, as I'm sure they were worried about the appointments that were coming after me. To top it all off, it has been a little less than a year, and I have no lingering issues with my knee and I don't even have a scar to show for it! I told Dr. Pinell this after my surgery and I tell the world this now too: I wish she could be my primary care physician because I have never had such an incredible experience with a doctor. I am extremely disappointed with the staff at this office. They are not responsive. I have spoken with at least four different individuals at this office and they 1. don't seem to care 2. they put you on hold for over 10 minutes, 3. individuals speak to you as if you don't know what you are talking because they fail to listen to what you trying to communicate During my consult Dr. Davison, he was very nice and listened. Unfortunately, some of his staff does not reflect his same demeanor. I was moving forward with the surgery until this third call to his office. Dr. Davidson and his staff were not particularly nice during consult but rather clinically professional and answered my questions about what to expect, that wasn't the problem and that's the only reason they received a star at all. It was during the procedure itself, the staff did not make me feel comfortable and welcome. I was left alone for long stretches without explanation. I wasn't properly anesthetized, making it so painful I was in tears. I did let them know early on that I was feeling pain but I was ignored until my sobbing forced him to reinject more numbing agent. No words of comfort, one even offered me a tissue... Then there was Dr. Davidson talking or perhaps teaching other staff during the procedure about diseased areas vs healthy tissue and what must be cut away. As a person with an unknown lump there for a simple removal, that kind of talk is upsetting, to say the least. I felt like a slab of meat being dissected. Nearly three months later, after repeated calls from me and my doctor's office, I finally get the results over the phone and it wasn't good news... Maybe if I were getting a boob job or facelift I would've been treated differently, who knows... read more

I went to Dr. Davidson for an umbilicoplasty following two pregnancies. My experience was unsatisfactory and disappointing. Dr. Davidson gave me poor advice on how to proceed at various stages of the process (which procedure to select, what to do when the first procedure failed, and how to handle his second attempt, which also failed). He did not share adequate information with me to be able to make educated decisions. (Twice, I learned important information after procedures were done and it was too late to change course. And whenever I called or emailed for assistance, Dr. Davidson did not reply, he had his staff reply, with brief, non-specific comments along the lines of "this should work.") In addition, and perhaps most troubling, Dr. Davidson diverted responsibility for the return of my umbilical hernia onto me - telling me it was my fault because I was a "fanatical" exerciser (his word), even though my exercise routine at the time consisted of running a couple of miles once a week and doing an hour long yoga class 2x week. He claimed that I exercised too soon after my procedure, despite the fact that I followed his post-op instructions precisely and even tacked on an extra week of waiting to exercise after both procedures. I expressed these concerns to Dr. Davidson and his staff but was told they had done their job. He never reached out to me personally. No care for what I was going through. I was left with an unfixed umbilical hernia and a very odd looking belly button (flat, red, etc.). I went to see another plastic surgeon soon after the failed procedures with Dr. Davidson. The second doctor told me that he would have advised me differently from the start, knowing that I had diastasis in addition to the umbilical hernia (Dr. Davidson knew I had diastasis from my initial intake with him). The second doctor ending up performing a different type of surgery - abdominoplasty - and his approach worked well. I endured three procedures, instead of one, while taking care of two young children at home. This experience occurred years ago. I was so frustrated and tired at the time that I didn't have energy left to write a review. I also didn't want to write an overheated review, as I'm a fair minded person. I thought it best to take some time, and I never got back to it. I was cleaning out my office files this week and came across the paperwork related to my experience with Dr. Davidson. I would feel remiss not to warn others of my hard road with him. I urge those reading to go to another plastic surgeon - one who has strong communication skills, does not unfairly shift blame onto the patient for failed results, and exhibits integrity. read more

HORRIBLE costumer service. The office staff is not professional what so ever. Never met the doctor himself, I decided to go with another doctor before my appointment at Davinci which I am so glad with my decision. I called to cancel my appointment and request a refund for the consultation($100) and Ashley(receptionist) let me know it would be a week for the refund to post. I called a little over a week to follow up and was told the refund has still not been processed. I asked to speak with the employee that handles the billing and I was told she does not work in the office. I got her email after calling the office 4 times and emailed her and still have yet to hear from her. It's been well over 2 weeks and still NOTHING. I called the office once again to figure out what's going on and I got absolutely NO help. Ashley's response was basically "unfortunately there's nothing I can do". Since High School I was extremely self conscious about my calves. I rarely wore shorts. Sought swimsuits with long legs to cover as much of my calves as possible. After someone at a social gathering began making fun of my legs I decided to do something. Dr. Davison said he could improve my calves with implants. After some thorough research I decided to proceed. The surgery was smooth and relatively easy. The recovery, at least the first week, was painful. But within a couple weeks the pain disappeared. Also I had none of the numbness and other problems associated with the procedure. The results changed my self image and increased my confidence. I actually wore short shorts to a party 5 months post surgery and someone told me I have nice legs. That was a first! Only one of my friends commented, and told me I have much more definition in my calves. This actually is a positive. I have seen cosmetic surgery which is obvious. While my legs look much better the improvement is subtle and natural. Dr. Davison is professional, realistic, and talented. read more

I had a double mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction. If you aren't aware, DIEP is an extremely complex procedure that not very many surgeons are trained to do. (It is a micro-surgery where you transfer your abdominal fat to recreate a breast mound, basically a transplant from you to you.) My surgery was flawless, the results are phenomenal, and the nurses at Inova Fairfax said they have never seen a plastic surgeon as attentive to pain management as Dr. Davison was. He is nice, compassionate and thorough. After the fact the nurses were always available with questions about the recovery via phone or email. I just love this practice and can't recommend it enough! read more

Everything about my breast augmentation experience with DaVinci was overwhelmingly positive. If you're looking for a plastic surgeon in the D.C. area, look no further! I looked at several offices before making my choice, and never felt comfortable with anyone else performing my surgery until I met Dr. Davison The free consultation was a great start! His staff was easy to be in touch with and incredibly flexible with appointment times. At the consultation, Dr. Davison listened carefully to my goals and concerns. I loved that the first consultation visit was just to get acquainted with Dr. Davison and to formulate a plan from early on. I also loved that their camera technology that allowed me to see a digital representation of what my body would look like with different sizes and styles of implants. He understood that, as a thin woman, I wanted something that would be noticeable, but still look natural. They allocated a separate appointment slot for this, so there was ample time to try different options. The scheduling and financially planning for the procedure went very smoothly. While I chose to pay outright for the procedure, he offered several reasonable credit options. *Be aware that you are expected to pay for the service approximately 2 weeks before the procedure, at a nurse appointment to go over medications to stop taking. I believe his office accepts insurance for some procedures, but obviously most cosmetic surgery won't be covered. He also charged $1,000 less than I was quoted, which is a nice sign that their practice isn't trying to slide hidden fees your way. The cost was on par with what you would expect for the procedure, no more or less. The procedure itself was a breeze- Dr. Davison was cheerful and seemed excited the morning of, and the anesthesiology group they work with is phenomenal. He verified the size, incision approach, and anesthesia choices with me. Next thing I remember was waking up with nearly no pain. His office was extremely attentive to providing sufficient pain medication, although I did not use it. Although everyone's body is different, I would never say I experienced "pain" after my surgery, only discomfort. By the second day, I was up and walking around the city as if nothing had happened. By the 2 week follow-up visit, things were nearly back to normal. I also had a moment of panic when one side dropped a little faster than the other and his staff met with me within an hour of my frantic call to take a look and calm my concerns! At the 6 week follow-up he remained enthusiastic and pleased with a perfect (he says not to expect perfection as "perfect" doesn't exist, but they really are flawless) result! The scars are already nearly impossible to spot, and the implants have settled into his expertly crafted muscle pockets to look very natural. Dr. Davison is qualified, meticulous, friendly, attentive, and overall an amazing surgeon. I am so thrilled with my new body! I can't say enough good things about him. He gave me confidence and happiness at a level I didn't know was possible, and if I had to do the process again I would NEVER think of going anywhere else. read more

I am a Breast Cancer survivor and have had a rough time after all the chemo. I have had multiple surgeries, the biggest being a double mastectomy. I chose to go implants because the thought of a DIEP tissue reconstruction scared me. I did the expanders and implants, then my body kept forming encapsulations around the implants and I had to have them replaced a few times. Seeing multiple doctors. Finally after the 3rd replacement I was told I needed to do the DIEP tissue reconstruction. Dr. Pinell and Dr. Davison were the most positive, caring, knowledgeable doctors! Dr. Davison put my mind at ease, answered every question I had, even when I asked them multiple times. He was very patient with me, very kind and had a calming way about him. I consulted with him a few times, finally begging for him to remove my implants, due to COVID-19 my surgery was postponed for a month. He removed them under general anesthetic which scared me! Again, he had a calming way, played music, joked and we had a great time! When it came time for my DIEP surgery, which was on my birthday! I met Dr. Pinell for the 1st time. She was just as easy to talk to, calm, positive, caring and I knew I was in great hands! The 8hr surgery went well, until about 11pm. Then things went a little sideways. Dr. Pinell jumped into action, no himming or hawing. She didn't take any unnecessary precautions and was AMAZING! She came and saw me every day while in the hospital, her calm demeanor was comforting and encouraging. This woman deserves 100 GOLD STARS in my book and every award out there!
