Alexandria Total Dentistry is a family-owned dental clinic, located in the professional offices at Place One Condominiums. Everything was such a smooth process, and I couldn't be happier! The hubs also was a fan of Dr. Daniel Lee - he stated that Dr. Lee was very personable, welcoming, thorough, and detail-oriented. Payed $30 per tooth to have them sealed which is 20% of total cost they said and insurance would pay the other 80%. I had 10 done so payed $300, Which means they're going to charge my insurance $1200. Seemed kinda crazy since it took less then 5 min per tooth but you want to assume everything's alright. Talking to someone at work and they mentioned they had the same thing done and only got charged $30 with no insurance so I googled it and apparently the rate is $30-$40 a tooth for that procedure it the $150 I payed per tooth. I called to mention this and she said they charge $150 or something per tooth, so they're just charging you the full rate then charging insurance for whatever else they can get. First the con: the parking at this place is ridiculous. If you find a visitor space open, it's easy. If not, it's insane. Well there was no visitor spot open, so I drove around and found nothing. Elnded up going down a narrow rampway, with all of the spots on the side saying reserved or no parking, And there was no place to turn around at the end. Had to back all the way out with vehicles on the side I couldn't see (because I had to keep my eye on the curb to keep from going over it). I'll omit the rest, but let's just say it involved having to back out of the same narrow lane AGAIN as well as being told to park in a place that said "NO PARKING AT ANY TIME," which meant I spent the whole time as much in fear of having my car towed as of the dentist's drill. Anyway, finally parked, came inside and shared my displeasure with the office at how difficult parking was. I was so annoyed I told them I "won't be back." Well I will be back. Dr. Daniel Lee was awesome once I was able to see him. He was so conversational and cool, I forgot I was at the dentist. He explained everything in simple terms and gave me details about previous orthodontic work I had done and how it impacted my gums and teeth. He was very concerned about working with my insurance to save me money. By the time he finished, I forgot the parking snafu and was a happy camper. No small accomplishment. We transferred into Dr. Lee's practice about two years ago and we're only leaving now because we're in the military so it's time to ship out. The staff is always friendly and joking with my daughter, cleanings aren't drawn out or painful, schedule to come back in 6 months, and grab a free toothbrush on the way out. I frequently ask questions while in the chair (e.g. migraines related to grinding, teeth sensitivity as I previously wore braces, etc.) and Dr. Lee always has the time to answer; I don't feel rushed through. My child and I schedule back-to-back appointments on Saturdays and I can honestly say it's never busy. The best part: no billing hiccups with our insurance (something our previous dentist couldn't get right). The multiple confirmation texts for our appointment can be a bit excessive, though, but I appreciate the service. All in all, a great clinic. read more

First Impression: I used the restroom as I do EVERYWHERE and it was so FREAKING CLEAN and neat and pretty I thought I was in a hotel!!! This guy was awesome! Young professional just living his best life in a field he seems to really enjoy and it shows in his work. If I could give zero stars I would. I was having some discomfort in two teeth over the last several weeks. Because I work and was in the market for a new dentist, I was looking for a convenient dentist with weekend hours. A dentist I had gone to only had weekday hours, and a number of other dentists I called were unable to get me in anytime in the near future despite my discomfort. Then I happened on Alexandria Total Dentistry and thought I had found gold. The day of the visit seemed fine. They texted to confirm my appointment the day before, the office was clean but small and easy enough to find. I arrived a little early but was taken back within a very short time of my actual appointment. The "hygienist" who was identified on her attire as a student asked some questions about my pain and took x-rays. Dr. Lee walks in shortly thereafter with a cup of coffee to look at the x-rays like he was in no rush and quite frankly still half-asleep. Long story short, he identified what he thought was an abcess/infection under a tooth which required antibiotics for a week and ultimately a root canal. My multiple problems with the visit: 1. He wanted to wait up to two weeks to begin the work so he could get a report about what the insurance would cover. I was in significant discomfort, and despite the anticipated cost I would have covered whatever the insurance did not. I did not want to wait until the insurance got around to putting a report together, because..... 2. He said he preferred to do the root canal in STAGES (who wants that?) because he "couldn't know how bad it was until he gets in there." I have never heard about a root canal needing to be done in stages regardless of how complicated it is and I've already had one. 3. He not only didn't stop talking for the entire visit about irrelevant stuff, he spent part of the time bad mouthing female dentists as too conservative in their treatment, including the one who had done some previous fillings, and endodontists as generally incompetent and the other part going on about how some patients have been un-happy with the cost of his services when they were not covered by insurance after the work was done (did I say I wasn't going to pay?). 4. He kept asking me the same questions over and over again about my last visit and about what medications I was taking or might have started recently. He couldn't believe that the last time I saw a dentist (in 2018) that this wasn't there and that they hadn't told me. I informed him the pain was recent and my last visit was negative for any such findings, and I hadn't started any new medications, but he kept asking (like he thought my answer was going to change?) 5. He joked that the only best thing for your teeth was dying because then you're not eating anymore. How fucking morbid is that? 6. He was trying to explain in layman's terms (after informing me that I needed antibiotics) how antibiotics work (not that I really cared). But he couldn't even do that well. He kept saying things like, "but I'd have to look that up" or "but I'm not sure". I would hope after graduating dental school and practicing for a few years, YOU COULD EXPLAIN IN GENERAL TERMS HOW ANTIBIOTICS WORK. That alone gave me pause. 7. I didn't have a good feeling about him doing the work and asked him to email me the x-rays so I could go somewhere else. He couldn't even manage that. I had to call and have his secretary/tech send them again after I left when the email never came through. If you can't manage sending an email, how can you do a procedure like a root canal? 8. I went to the dentist I had seen some time before on a weekday for a second opinion, despite it being less convenient. This guy has like 30 years of experience. He tells me I never needed the antibiotics, and there was never any abcess. What Dr. Lee identified as infected areas was NORMAL ANATOMY. He confirmed by testing cold sensation on the painful teeth (which Dr. Lee never did) that the nerve was *alive* which he explained it would not be if there was or had been an abcess. He pointed out areas on the x-ray around the painful teeth (which Dr. Lee never mentioned) which showed significant inflammation of the ligaments holding the teeth into my jaw, and explained that my habit of clenching (which I mentioned to Dr. Lee) had caused inflammation under the gums which was causing sensitivity. He said what I needed (besides reducing the stress in my life) was a night-guard for around $250 *NOT* a root canal for the roughly $600 I was quoted by the secretary/tech. I know Dr. Lee has a ton of great reviews, so not sure what the problem here was. Unless a lot of people have ended up having work done that they never needed, maybe he was having an off-day, so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. Just very glad I trusted my gut and got a second opinion. read more

I've been going to Dr. Daniel Lee every three months for cleanings and exams for several years, plus a couple of in-between visits to have old fillings replaced. Cleanings and filling replacements are totally painless - without anesthesia (my choice because I trusted his recommendation). He and I talk a lot about all kinds of life and world issues, though sometimes I can only nod or grunt to reply. He's very competent and is knowledgeable about cutting edge techniques. He knows and loves dentistry. Also he's funny and entertaining in a low-key way. I like that. Keeps the mood light and upbeat. His brother is his dental partner. Great experience! The dentist is talented and knowledgable and knows what kind of care his patients need. First impression: weird. The offices are located on the first floor of a condominium building. Parking lot for visitors is pretty generous compared to other buildings like that. Once inside the office is down a long hallway to the right past a different dental practice?? It was weird. But the actual offices are clean and everything look new and shiny. The dentists are the current receptionists but it's all very chill. We filled out the paperwork and went directly into the seat. In the seat, there was some talking and the dentist had me laughing. He's pretty chill so that helped with what little nerves I have about going to the dentist. Cleaning and polishing was quick and he did offer some other treatments but allowed me to keep my options open. It's nice to feel like you have a choice. Pro-tip: if you're in the younger side (mid-20s to early 30s) it's a no-brainer, this dude is the one to go to. Cannot say enough of what a good experience it was to meet Dr.Lee and his kind staff. I was referred to the clinic by my family friend in Virginia. Since my first appointment, he was very thorough with his explanations and took time to review the cases with me. He took time to answer my questions and made sure I understood everything even tho I had to ask quite a few questions. I had several teeth extractions done including my lower wisdom teeth, which were done quite quickly. I had some pain after the extraction and called in the office for questions. Dr.Lee explained thoroughly and gave me some advise and took time to prescribe necessary medications right then. No pain or complications after that. He even called me to follow up and see how I am doing. I've also done multiple crowns and front veneers done after that and are looking great! I am loving them! Brace yourself, I am a little long winded. I was in the market for a new dentist and came upon this one with great reviews on Zocdoc under Dr. Daniel Lee. I made an appointment and completed all the paperwork via Zocdoc (which alerted me that my completed forms were sent successfully). First Impression: They are located in a condominium building. The lobby was under construction at the time but that was fine because I found the facility easy to locate via waze. I used the call box to have them buzz me in. (Pro tip: don't enter the elevator, take the right and keep down the long hall. The office is on the left before the big door that appears in your path. - You're welcome!) The waiting area was small, but neat and very clean. When I arrived I was greeted by Ms. Wendy at the front desk who provided me forms to complete. (I was annoyed because I had completed them already online for the sole purpose of not having to do it again, but for some reason their office was not in receipt of it.) So I sat in the waiting area aggressively completing my form, because I guess I was in a little mood that day and I am a little bit of a planner so the annoyance was more about "I did this in advance", more than anything else. Whether she sensed my annoyance or not she didn't show it. She remained genuinely pleasant and professional. They were running a little behind schedule which she politely informed me of and apologized. But by this time I had made friends with Ms. Wendy (I can be chatty). Additionally, I had no more plans for the day so the little wait was fine. She was very polite and helpful, and even told me upfront what my insurance covered. My Dentist: I met with Dr. Steven Lee, who looks barely old enough to drive. I actually asked his age and years of experience which he answered politely (I am sure he gets these questions a lot). I was more than pleasantly surprised. I had chipped a tooth in the back (among other things) and he took the time to explain to me, exactly what needed to be done and his approach to doing it. (I found it very comforting to know and understand in advance what work was to be completed especially considering, the length of time in which dentists spend in close proximity to their patients while at work, while we awkwardly look at their intense masked faces). He did the mold for the crown, and really took his time with the temporary, ensuring it fit perfectly and that my bite looked and felt natural. For the sake of your desire to be finished reading this long review -- I later visited to have the crown installed, fill some cavities (because... cheesecake), cleaning, and some minor aesthetics. All were completed by Dr. Steven Lee. Overall Experience: I must admit they made my dentist visits enjoyable. Dr. Steven was very professional, knowledgeable and talented. He was consistently patient and kind and took his time during all of my visits. He was gentle and has made it easy to trust my dental care professional. His passion for the craft shows itself in every interaction. I have made them my primary dental office and I am very pleased with that decision. (Anyone capable of displaying such dedication and passion to his work is deserving of my business.) I wanted to wait until I had a few more visits and more work completed before I reviewed to ensure the first impression wasn't just a fluke. I assure you it was not! Great practice run by a great group of dentists! I came in with a tooth ache in the back, and after taking some very quick and painless x-rays, found out that I had a pretty large cavity in the back molars. Dr. Lee was able to work quickly complete the restorations with white fillings. Even though it was such a large cavity, there was little so no sensitivity afterwards! 100 percent would recommend this clinic. Great staff and great care! read more

My first appointment with Dr. Daniel Lee was a routine oral evaluation and dental cleaning, which Dr. Lee did personally. It was without a doubt one of the most thorough, and certainly the most gentle, cleaning I had ever had. Dr. Lee had X-rays taken and made some recommendations for further treatment consideration, but was not in the least bit pushy, which I also appreciated very much after so many contrary experiences with other dentists. Don't let Dr. Dan Lee's boyish looks fool you. He is legit!! I went to visit him with a crown that had fallen off. (Crown was done by a different dentist). The Crown had always been a little off, a flossing nightmare. Anyways, he squeezed me in, was very thorough with all my options, then fixed my crown. It is seamless now and no more flossing issues. I'm very happy with his work and will use him again. The office was clean and the receptionist was very friendly. As good as it gets, as far as dental visits go!! read more
