I did not have too much time to find a caregiver, so I called a few places that happened to be at the top of the list when I searched for "Home Health Care." I like to think of it as Home Health One found me instead of the other way around. They were the 3rd call I made. The first 2 companies had recordings and I was on hold most of the time. When I finally did speak to someone, you could tell they were trying to speed up the process more-so than I was, so I felt overwhelmed and pressured and hung up. When I finally got to Home Health One, I was able to speak to a real human right off the bat. She answered every one of my questions thoroughly, was extremely patient with me being a newbie to the process, and assured me my dad would be in good hands. That, she was absolutely right about. A nurse was in my living room with my dad the next day. Assessed him and even made him smile, which I haven't seen in a while... However, most recently, I injured my back and was confined to home, a walker and lots of "recliner time". I needed help! I was incredibly fortunate to have SHS provide the services of Helen. She is kind, thoughtful, sweet and always on time and very efficient. Helen helped with grocery pick up and putting them away. She also provided light housekeeping support. Cordia is a wonderful place!…read more Our culture is such that mothers expect to remain in the house of one of their daughters until their death, however my house has stairs and is too dangerous for my mom. She was resistant to being anywhere but with family so moving her to Cordia produced a lot of anxiety for her. Thankfully, the wonderful staff at Cordia - from the lobby workers to the maintenance workers to the amazing dining room staff - all worked their magic to make her feel treasured and safe. Personally, I see that the staff at Cordia are very satisfied working with the senior residents there. I engage in conversations with them and am grateful for their kindness and respect for the residents and for each other. Cordia has a wonderful line-up of daily activities and they also have special activities for holidays. I'm super pleased to see my mom engaging in different activities that she never had done before Cordia. For example, I used to try to have her do chair workouts with me but she had always refused. Now at Cordia, she's down in the workout room at least 3 times a week!!! I think Cordia has given her new life! Unfortunately, our experience was mixed. The overall atmosphere often felt depressing and unwelcoming. Getting answers from nursing staff was often frustrating, as it sometimes seemed like they did not want to be bothered or responded with an attitude. I also found some staff members to be be unfriendly and lacking in empathy. Families rely on clear communication and compassion when a loved one is in rehab, and we did not consistently experience that level of care. The physical therapy dept. was a bright spot in my mother's day, but this was after switching the physical therapist from Steve to Desiree. Desiree stood out for her compassion, kindness, and genuine concern for her patients. She treated my mother with dignity and encouragement and made a meaningful difference in her rehab experience. I am very grateful for the care and dedication she showed. I recognize that rehab facilities can be busy and understaffed, but I believe there is significant room for improvement in communication (a simple good morning when you see a family member), responsiveness, and patient-family interactions. Again I want to acknowledge the outstanding work of Desiree for the positive impact she had on my mother's care.

I am so blessed to have them in my life. Memory care is not what it should be and dealing with the staff and the care my Mom receives is so overwhelming to me. I am a nurse myself and work 5 days a week. I became stressed, overwhelmed, and felt like I was fighting a battle all alone. They give my Mom the care she needs, and the care is exceptional. I love her nurse, Kristen, on-call nurse Olivia, social worker Amy, and her chaplain (forgot her name). They visit my Mom often and take a lot of burden off of me. As I used to have to call my Mom's facility on a daily basis to address a problem; but now I can make one call to Suncrest and they are immediately on top of things. I can now breathe, and I no longer feel overwhelmed and stressed. Being a caregiver is hard, seeing your loved one's health declining is very hard.
