I had had a bit hit and miss service previously but since the upgrades I've seen some new staff and some excellent service. They have a number of nice gadgets to test the health of your eye and on one machine it takes a picture of your retina which the optometrist will show you on the iPad in your consultation. I've always had knowledgeable and extremely friendly optometrists who I've felt genuinely cared. I wouldn't recommend buying their contact lenses in store which they should explain can be purchased online for 30% less - only $30 for three months of contacts for one eye! (which I think is an incredible price) Will definitely be going back for all my eye needs!

This Greg Bowyer must have good taste for retro eye wear because he stocks all types of retro designs- think cat-eye, clubmaster, wayfarer and so on. These retro designs are available in the most adventures colours such as purple, green, red and so on. For the less retro-esque types, there are so classic designs on offer. This store stocks optical frames from the likes of Chanel, Prada and Tag Heuer. I would have preferred a professional "sorry, we don't guarantee the lenses, here are your options" I'm going back to my previous optometrist to have these fixed because I will not spend another cent in this store.

After leaving OPSM (a big optometrist chain), I searched for some place with a more personal service. Eyecare Plus in Jindalee is the place to go! Geoff is the optometrist who runs and owns this clinic. His lovely wife and son work at reception. It is a truly family run operation, which is what I love about it. It's one of those places where you walk in and they know your name and make time for small catch-ups. Eyecare Plus has a large range of frames to choose from so you'll never need to go elsewhere. They stock all the respectable brands in eye care and have a great range. The customer service is the best I've seen so far compared to the other optometrists I've been to because you get personal service. Geoff always makes an effort to explain things clearly and goes that extra step further with providing more images of your eyes to get you to understand what's happening. I love seeing these images of my eyes, it's weird being able to see that much detail of what's in your eyeball- it looks crazy in there! If you want to go to an optometrist you can rely on and get amazing service, then Eyecare Plus is where I suggest you get your eyes checked. It's also located very close to the Jindalee DFO, so you can also go shopping before or after your check up!

When my glasses came back to me the lenses looked terrible (words from the optometrist herself and told the receptionist to clean them again). The second clean was no better. When discussing the matter with them they would only support 50% of the replacement value of one lens therefore I would have to pay for the other being $277 out of pocket. The cost of new glasses was $315 which was obviously the only way to go as fixing my glasses which were only 2 years old meant I had no glasses for a week, not an option when I am short sighted. When I said I wasn't happy with any of these out of pocket solutions it was implied from the Lady Manager that I had caused the damage. When confronting the lady at the front desk today who was the one who cleaned them and re cleaned when the damage happened I asked her to be honest and tell the owners the truth as to what happened as it's not right I got disadvantaged and blamed for something I didn't do, she replied "I can't help you". When you take the lift up to Gerry & Johnson's, don't be alarmed when the doors open to reveal an empty office space shrouded in darkness. Take a hard right and you'll find the store entrance. When I entered the foyer for the first time I felt like a child in a candy store. Because I've worn glasses since I was nine, I've been in plenty of optometrists - and often - and was taken aback by how stylish, modern, and comfortable Gerry & Johnson's was. There's a fantastic range of frames, and they stock to suit any style; from indie, wooden frames to your more traditional metal framed specs. The set up reminds me of an IKEA showroom. There are two comfortable lounges surrounding a table with vased flowers, a water cooler, and a children's area with a table and drawing materials. Not to mention the entire office is overlooking Brisbane Square so you can admire the view stretching out towards South Bank and the Brisbane Eye. The receptionists and optometrists themselves are incredibly friendly and helpful, and answered all of my questions with thoroughness and patience. I went for an Ortho K consultation and even though my scans yielded unpromising results, my optometrist was honest and realistic about the outcomes of treatment and didn't pressure me into paying for anything unnecessary. The consultation rooms are very chic; the examination chair is leather, and the gear they have is the latest technology in the field. My optometrist was young, but completely professional, well-informed, and up to date with the technology, so I felt in safe hands.
