My nails were looking worse for wear, and I NEEDED to get them done! I've had nail PTSD from a local Texas salon, and was super hesitant to try somewhere else, nonetheless out of town. After reading carefully the reviews and consulting with my girlfriends, I chose Nancy's. Nancy's nail spa is everything a nail salon promises to be. Clean, beautiful, and a welcoming atmosphere. I am a shy person, but everyone, from staff to patrons were warm. This is a REAL salon. Getting your nails done is supposed to be a pampering experience. How often have you gone to a salon and the workers were cold and you felt like you were inconveniencing them? Not at Nancy's. I felt like a local and had to be honest, the best nail experience of my life. Michelle did a beautiful job on my nails. I had some nail splits on my thumbs, and she repaired them really nicely. She gave me advice on how to continue to grow/repair them from my botch job in Texas, and was very kind throughout it all. I kept saying, "I feel like a lady!" after she was done as she really made me look and feel great! I hope I get sent to Jackson again for work real soon... so I can return to Nancy's for a manicure!

I moved recently and I've had trouble finding a masseuse…read morethat knows how to truly give a massage and not just a cursory "rub down" like places that rhyme with Garage Entry. I booked last minute for a facial and a 1.5 hour massage and they were happy to accommodate me. Crystal met me before their normal office hours to start my facial which was SO relaxing. She focused on acne and it actually helped! Instead of an awful steamer she used hot towels and applied four or five creams to my face, each after a cleansing hot towel. She finished by applying an exfoliating scrub to my lips which worked wonders - I really need to find out what it was so I can buy some! She was very sweet and made sure everything was soothing. It was a great way to relax before my massage. The room was calm and comfortable. There were essential oils being diffused and the lights were low; there was enough light for them to see what they were doing, but not so much that I was bothered by the light. The room had two tables: one for the facial and one for the massage. I believe the massage table could have been heated - I saw a cord at the bottom - but the room was the perfect temperature so I didn't ask. When the facial was over, I switched to the other, wider massage bed and Raymond came in to give me my massage. He used some sort of lotion instead of oil, so I left feeling soft and clean instead of with oily skin. He did not hold back with the pressure - I have back and leg issues so I requested heavy pressure and he went for it. Again, he knew exactly what he was doing! He also used hot towels to remove the extra lotion and calm my body. I was definitely sore for a few days afterwards but I like to think that's a sign of a good massage. The entire salon was very nice and if I had been in town for longer I might have gone back for a pedicure in the lovely nail section. I'm not sure if they do hair as well but I know there were other options available including eyebrow treatments. Crystal and Raymond seem to know how to do most things when it comes to beauty and body treatments. I know they do waxing, including brazilians, which is hard to find in Jackson. The one negative was that I did pay a little more than I was planning to, but I felt like I got my money's worth. They didn't act like they were on a tight schedule - they didn't rush around, so even though I'm sure they kept an eye on the clock, it didn't feel like that to me, which goes a long way. I will happily return the next time I'm in Jackson!

On the salon... you know how sometimes salons can have that awkward, debutant, too-cool-for-school vibe? You won't get the at Gloss! it's comfortable, chic, spacious, clean, friendly and conveniently located on Lake Harbour. Here's the other thing, they are always busy! I've been to many salons in my (ahem) 28 years, but honestly I like Gloss the best!
