I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the management and staff of David's Bridal, located in Newark, DE in the fashion center. First of all, I was taken back by the manager, Shayna, who was rude, incompetent and basically useless at a time that we most needed her attention. The issue was that we purchased a bridal gown, for my wife, for our upcoming wedding. We picked up the dress, took it home, and went to the wedding. Upon putting the dress on, we noticed that the dress was too long, cut in a ragged manner, and to our dismay, was never altered. We paid an exorbitant price for the alterations, and in fact, I felt like we were being hustled the whole time. Alterations Services were not rendered, as per our agreement, leaving the dress unfinished and useless to my wife on our wedding day. The reason that they overcharged me for hemming, is because the dress was unwearable off the rack! Hence, the need for alterations! We attempted to return the dress to David's bridal ~ when Shayna abruptly informed us that they would not reimburse us for the dress, in fact, she only offered us a partial adjustment for the hem only, which still makes the dress UNWEARABLE. The bottom line is, I purchased this dress in good faith, I trusted them to do their job, and they failed utterly. They showed no remorse for ruining my wedding day, and offered no compensation. There is no compensation for their incompetence, which ruined what was supposed to be the best day of my life. In closing, I would never recommend David's bridal to any future brides, and I would recommend that you never do business with these conmen. I will be going to social media, corporate, until this issue is resolved to my satisfaction, and I will be advising as many people as I can not to use David's bridal, for the biggest day of their life. See the photos below of where it was supposed to be hemmed, and the shards left in the bag. Note ~ we paid and agreed on a scalloped hem, and clearly there is no hem whatsoever. The entire point is that the dress was unwearable, the whole reason they sold me alterations is because the dress was unwearable off the rack, and without them altering the hem, the dress was incomplete, and as unwearable as the day I bought it off the rack. Otherwise, why would they sell me alterations? My wife was unable to wear the dress we bought from David's Bridal, on the day of the wedding, and we told this to Shayna the manager, and her regional manager, and received the same run around, neither of them would take responsibility, apologize or compensate us for their actions, and the consequences of their incompetence. Not only did they lack remorse, they further infuriated my wife and me, wasted our time the day after our wedding, by making us come back into the store with the dress, to no avail. I just wanted to give a huge shout out to Kim my consultant at Davids Bridal - Kirkwood Hwy. I was lucky enough to have her as my consultant for both my wedding dress experience as well as my bridal party experience. I had no pictures, I just had an idea in my head of what I wanted and how I wanted myself and my girls to look on my big day. I explained to her what I wanted and she brought back a few selections. The very FIRST dress was pretty much exactly what I wanted. She helped me every step of the way and I knew I could trust her. She had my best interest in mind, and had a smile on her face the whole time. When we came back in for my bridal party to find their dresses, she was again our consultant. We picked out a few selections she was extremely knowledgable and when we asked her for her opinion she was honest, which is exactly what we needed. She wasn't just trying to sell us dresses. On that day she was working multiple parties but still managed to meet our needs right on schedule. We were in and out in 45 minutes, and found the perfect dress for all my girls. My whole experience with Davids Bridal - Kirkwood Hwy not only met my standards but exceeded it, and everyone is going to look so beautiful on the day of my Wedding. I am extremely pleased with my experience and would highly recommend Davids again. It's well above your normal bridal chain store. I had given up on finding a dress before coming to this store. I had been shopping at a few different places and received horrible customer service. I didn't even think that they would take me, as I didn't have an appointment, but they paired me with a stylist named Wanda. It was basically a scene out of a movie: the shy, nervous bride, the overattentive, anxious mother, the emotional aunt. Wanda really took the time to get to know me and the style that I, NOT my mother, was looking for. She brought out a few for my mother's sake but then really took it upon herself to bring out gorgeous dresses that were EXACTLY what I was looking for. Each dress was better than the last. She made sure to stay in our price range and was careful to only select dresses that we would be able to afford. She joked around with me and really got me to open up. I was really surprised because she was working with another bride at the same time but, rather than feel ignored, I felt like part of some special party. The other bride and I had an amazing time and put on a little fashion show for our families, which Wanda eagerly encouraged. After I found the dress of my absolute dreams, everyone cried (including Wanda). I have never had such amazing customer service. I don't know if I'm a David's Bridal believer, but I 1000% believe that Wanda can do anything. I will be sending everyone I know to her specifically and HIGHLY advise asking for her by name. read more

As the Mother of the Bride my only daughter, youngest of 4 children, she and I decided to start at David's Bridal for a wedding 6 months away. What a fabulous experience we encountered. Made our appointment online and when we checked in it was a short couple of questions and we were at the racks looking at bridal gowns. Our consultant, Jackie, was shortly introducing herself to us. Jackie assisted us with pulling dresses and the fun and excitement began. Jackie listened to my daughter with accessories to compliment each and every dress. I had a few requests to pull style of dresses that my have looked great on my daughter and Jackie went right to the racks, she knows the product assortment in the store!! My daughter narrowed the assortment to 3 dresses and the next evening we went back with the rest of the very important members of the family that needed to way into the decision making process with the bride. Another excellent experience with Jackie and the staff of David's Bridal on evening of the 2nd visit. If you are looking for a caring, kind and a new member of your family ask for Jackie you will not be disappointed!!!! Kimberly and Colette were AMAZING! When it comes to shopping I rarely ask for help. I like to browse and just look to see what my options are. Kimberly was great, she checked on me just enough to guide me if I had any questions. She took the selections I had already made and placed them in a room for me. She told me to take my time and I could start trying whenever I was ready. I tried on about 8 dresses and narrowed it down to 2. She helped guide me through the fit of each to help me make my decision. I never felt rushed, pushed, or like the was trying to sway me one way or another. She was super friendly and so helpful. She took my measurements and consulted a size chart to get the best size option. While I was looking at accessories she went and input all my info so if she wasn't available when I was ready to check out someone could help finish the transaction. Colette was super sweet! We chatted for a few minutes while she put my order through. Gave me all my info about dress arrival while she rang out my accessories. Overall, I have been to 3 Davids Bridals and this was far the best. A lot room (recommend going on a weekday, weekends are insane), clean and super organized. Went here on Sund, Feb 8, 2015 and the place was hopping BUSY. My dtr (the future bride to be) had made reservations online w/~ 10 dresses she picked out. All were hanging and ready in her assigned changing room. Our attendant, Kyra Thomas was FANTASTIC. She knew just how to pick out the perfect accessories to complement each gown. She was wonderful, can't say enough about her. The store however, needs a major renovation! Should be sectioned off to accommodate ~ 6 fittings. Each area should have its own viewing area complete w/seating for the family/bridal party attendees. We stood for almost 2 hrs during the gown selection including the 80 yo grandmother of the bride. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Also each staging area should be equipped w/a round raised platform for the bride to stand on to get a better feel for the 'too long' gowns and bettter viewing of the trains. Just saying.... I think we are going to purchase the gown here, unless we can find it cheaper somewhere. Cost of veils off the hook - $100-200 each! But again, ask for Kyra to be your attendent - she deserves a raise! read more

At first, I didn't have high expectations for this store. Considering it's a chain and I know everyone is working for commission, I figured it wouldn't be very personal. I was very wrong. The woman who assisted me was Arizia, and she was wonderful. She was immediately very friendly and went out of her way to learn about my style and taste, and was not pushy about anything. She made trying on dresses quick and easy, and we made pleasant conversation in the dressing room. I found my dream wedding dress on my first day of shopping at this store, and purchased my dress, bra, slip /crinoline, sash, garment bag, and a preservation kit all for about $1,022, which was only $22 over my budget. Getting to ring the bell when I said yes to my dress was something I'll never forget! Also, the woman who finalized my purchase, Collette, was delightful. She was very informative and made sure I knew exactly what I was getting. Excellent store. I would recommend it, and Arizia, to any bride looking for a dress. read more

My daughter is getting married October 30 of 2015. We have heard a lot of horror stories about David's Bridal. We went to David's Bridal in Wilmington, Delaware. We had the BEST experience ever. From picking out her dress with Wanda to the alterations department to the management. We had such an amazing experience. All the bridesmaids got their dresses at David's Bridals from all different states and we had no problems with any of their gowns. The energy that you get off of all the employees at this location will put anybody in a great mood. All the departments and ladies were all amazing. I would like yo give special notice to Colette DiVario on the amazing job she did on making my daughter feel like she was the only bride in the world. After this wonderful experience with David's Bridal I would highly recommend this store to any bride and her bridal party. I had an amazing experience at David's Bridal. Gail was incredible! She chatted with me asking about my wedding theme, venue. chatted and made me feel so comfortable. she listened to me, although I really had no idea of what I wanted. I had been to a different bridal shop and was told not to get a a line dress because I am short. so I had been in a wild goose chase looking at every other style online. I showed Gail a few I had in mind and told her I was told not to get an Aline although that is what I still gravitated to, she got a few 2 others that I picked out and suggested I try on the one Aline and it was perfect! I knew as soon as i put it on. it was like she knew exactly what would be perfect on me but allowed me to try on the others just so I could see what looked the best on me. also, I got there a little early and Gail was not even the person who was supposed to help me but so thankful that she did! read more

I am getting married in May 2016 and chose this location to visit because it's close to my home. Upon arrival I was checked in and my consultant Wanda C. was introduced to me. Although it was very crowed and I think they book the consultants with too many people at one time, my experience was great. Wanda already had my favorites ready and also went over the catalog with me to see if I wanted to try on any other gowns. After trying on the gowns, I finally decided on one and was given the opportunity to ring the bell and make a wish. Once she finished with me, two of my girls were there so Wanda assisted us in finding the rest of my dresses for the bridal party. They were able to try them on in my colors and we narrowed it down to my final selections. Thank you Wand C. for making my visit a GREAT one. This was the second David's Bridal I had been to in two days. Don't need to explain why I made a second appointment. Anyway, I assigned Wanda. She was assigned other brides, but promised me her best. And she delivered. She could tell I was frustrated with one of the girls that tagged along with us. So she pulled me to the side to show me "stuff" whenever she could tell I was getting annoyed. She brought me a book asked me to show her what I liked. I showed her and then she asked for a price point and then she found me 5 dresses. I tried on 4 of them and the 4th one was the "IT" dress. Wanda was amazing...My bridal party and I donned her the "Wonderful Wanda". I hugged her so tight, she told me she needed to breathe. I burst out into tears. She really made this experience amazing. I didn't work with anyone else, so I can't knock them. but if you can work with Wanda, GO FOR IT! read more

I went to David's bridal in Wilmington yesterday (Friday 1/16). We were the first appointment at 11am and my consultant was Wanda. Right from the start, Wanda was wonderful. She asked me what I wanted and even pulled all my favorites that I had previousl "favorited" on davidsbridal.com. She was very attentive, friendly, and involved with my appointment. She answered any questions I had and I didn't once feel pressured to buy a gown there. I found one that I loved but I wanted a few changes. She immediately grabbed the alterations person and brought her over to see if the changes could be made. I can't say enough great things about Wanda! I didn't end up buying my dress here but I definitely had the best bridal experience here! I would definitely recommend going to DB early on a weekday as they are super busy on weekends! read more

In January I had gone to David's Bridal for my wedding dress experience. I had no idea what kind of dress I wanted or even where to begin. They had chosen a consultant for me. Her name was Miss Edna. She was fantastic. She completely made my experience. I couldn't of asked for a better person to help me. She listened to me. She knew exactly what I would like and dislike before I even put it on. When my veil came in a few weeks later I went to the store to pick it up. She ran right up to me and asked how I was doing like I had known her forever! David's Bridal you have an exceptional employee who really takes time to get to know her clients and really bond with them. I am so impressed and would recommend anyone to you!! I came in a week before my wedding. Yes i know. I'm crazy. I really did already have a dress though, I just wasn't in love with it. My stylist was Kyra and she was wonderful, I had already done a few walk arounds the store before I signed up to get a stylist so I already had a pretty good idea on the dresses I wanted to try on. I picked out two and Kyra was awesome helping carry them and setting me up in a dressing room. She was sweet and friendly and i'm not kidding, the first dress I tried on was perfect, apparently it was new to the store and she hadn't seen anyone try it on yet. We both LOVED it. When I went to David's bridal the second time around I had already said yes to my dress, however I wasn't satisfied. I came to this David's bridal to exchange my dress and on my way there I was nervous and a wreck. When I walked in still feeling the same way I was greeted with open arms by a women named Donna. I explained to her what was going on and she told me she was going to find me the perfect dress. From there we started looking for dresses and I felt so comfortable with her. We brought about 10 dresses back to my fitting room and went from there. She was so helpful in finding the right dress and gave me opinions that I wanted to know. I went here one week before my wedding. My previous dress from a small family owned boutique was ruined last minute by the tailor. I explained to the girls a Davids what happened and they immediately fawned over me and gave me what I felt was the royal treatment. They made me feel so important and were so sympathetic to my situation. They worked hard to find me the dress of my dreams and got it ordered and tailored in my size in just a few days. I picked up the dress the day before my wedding, I am so thankful to their staff for literally saving my wedding day. The sales girls listened to everything I said and never tried to push their opinions on me (Wanda was my stylist and she was amazing). Tatiana was absolutely Amazing fitted me twice because I changed my mind. She was gracious and understanding. Greer assisted in my hem on the second day. They all gave me outstanding service. They made my experience feel like a fairytale. I highly recommend this Newark store! I traveled over an hour to get there it was absolutely worth the trip. I just recently purchased a gown there for a ball I'm attending in October. The gown was marked down to $49.99 which was a steal for such a lovely dress but it had some snags in the front of the dress. When I brought it to the counter, before I could even ask for a percentage off, the manager Collete agreed to take $20 off leaving the final cost to be $29.99! I was so pleased by not only my choice and the price but the pleasant service I received. This is my second time pruchasing a gown from this location and the reps are always willing to serve with a smile whether it's one customer or 50. These ladies exemplify true customer service. I was in the Kirkwood Highway David's Bridal location last Sunday 9/28 and had my dream bridal appointment! My consultant, Cindy, was attentive, patient, and kind. She was also very friendly to my friends and family (10 people altogether!) who probably could have overwhelmed the average employee. Emma and Colette (the store manager) also contributed to the appointment by pulling accessories to go with the gown and offering comments/suggestions throughout the day. Overall, everyone there made me feel very special for what is meant to be a special time!
