This is Mocksville's full-service community park with multiple ball fields, long stretches of walkways and a whole lineup of reservable picnic pavilions complete with grills. Everything is spread out enough that even on a busy day, it probably doesn't feel crowded and the restrooms are easy to find and well placed for families bouncing between fields and picnic areas. Driving through, you'll hit a series of speed bumps that definitely keep you moving slow, but honestly that's a good thing with all the kids and teams running around. It's the kind of park where you could spend an entire afternoon without running out of things to do, whether you're here for a game, a cookout, or just a long walk under the trees. There was some up and down, but nothing too difficult. Both trails were mostly clearly marked. Near the end of Loop B the markings became less frequent, and at the junction of the two trails it was unclear which way to go. Other than that it was great. There is an interesting small cemetery. The trails cross small brooks in several places, with secure bridge crossings. I might choose to do just one of the loops next time, if I can figure out how to skip one of them. It was a pleasant couple of hours.

There's a lot to do at this little park. - playground - paved walking trail - fenced in dog park - unpaved hiking trails - pavilion for parties - enclosed building restroom - baseball/softball field - disc golf course - sand volleyball The grounds crew works hard to keep the trails and park clean so visitors can run around without tripping over fallen branches or leaves. The hiking trails are also well maintained without over-clearing the natural wilderness of the woods. We are lucky that Horizons Park is so close to our house because it's a great place to get an outdoor workout in or take the family for a fun afternoon.

There are picnic tables under the gazebo connected to the restrooms. There is a children's play area and the path also runs alongside a property that has beautiful horses. The path is connected to several local communities....lucky them! Definitely a park that you can come exercise or come do some reading, relaxing or even "Work from home"! One note: there's a lady with a neck fan who dominates the small-dog portion of the dog park. And she is there ever. Single. Day. She acts like she runs the place and she has a mean little dog who terrorizes most pups who try to enter. She will lazily call, "oh, he jut wants to play!" As her horrible dog tries to menace your pets, then rolls her eyes and eventually strolls over when the horrid thing gets actively violent. I think she likes having the park to herself, and she gets there super early, so everyone else just sort of avoids her spot. The good news is that she's usually gone by 10 or 11 AM, but she's a menace.

After driving 9 hours on our way to the NC shore, we decided to stop for the night. We checked in…read moreto our hotel and decided we must stretch our legs and do some walking. A quick search indicated that this greenway was nearby. What a great find! The paved path is approximately 1/2 -3/4 mile around a beautiful lake and includes several beautiful wooden bridges for taking photos, fishing and viewing the lake. The entire area is well-maintained and is wheelchair friendly. There is a large pier at one end of the lake for fishing and many fishing spots around the perimeter of the lake. The paved path is not directly by the lake, rather up the bank from the water's edge. There are several benches placed along the path for resting or taking in the scenery. We saw geese, ducks, turtles, and rabbits. Had we stayed longer, I feel certain we might have seen other wildlife. There was not a dedicated parking lot, but cars were parked along the road in the bike lanes. If I lived in the area I know that I would be a frequent visitor!

The very large playground includes a shaded bench for the grownups while the little ones are on one of the two climbing frames or the large swing set. Picnic tables and the pavilion can be reserved. There is a good dog park in the shade that is completely fenced in with regulations posted. It's interesting how much sponsorship they have going here. I think that's great. Five stars for this wonderful dog park. Huge parking lot and a building with restrooms for the…read morepeople. The main feature here is the baseball field that has been completely fenced in and converted into the running space for the large dogs. Shaded in places but with a ton of space for canines to run around. Two separate runs for smaller dogs. What's neat is that each of the dog parks has a separate entrance and exit lobby for safety to ensure that dogs are leashed and secure before leaving the park. Absolutely awesome. There are two different sections based on your dog's size, but even within each individual area there is SOOO much space to spread out, which is nice. It has a nice water feature, both parks are just replicas of each other, has a nice picnic table with multiple places to sit as well as benches strategically placed all around the edge of the park. It has a few agility items of in one corner by themselves and the rest of the park is just open area for your dog to run in. It is built on a nice gentle sloping Hill and has concrete pathways to get to the entry. Both entries are double gated and concrete and the fence line is all deeply buried in some kind of mulch around the edge of the park.
