I've had difficult experiences with procedures from other doctors, so I came to Dr. Adrian with a lot of anxiety. Coming from vb, I chose him because he's one of the most well-educated and highly regarded doctors in D.C., and I trust his expertise. I ultimately decided not to move forward with the laser treatment due to that anxiety, but I was met with so much kindness, patience, and professionalism. So, I am not new to laser tattoo removal. In fact, you can search my previous reviews for what I thought was a great experience and value for my first removal session years ago at a different place. Armed with much more knowledge now, I'm now aware that my previous course of treatment was basically a scam and no more effective than a single pass session. In contrast to the other place, Center for Laser Surgery has given me so much confidence about getting my tattoo removed! I'd seen Center for Laser Surgery on a few reddit posts and it was one of the few places where an actual MD is offering laser tattoo removal. I didn't want to go to another medspa/laser clinic only type place. I was super pleased when I was quoted a very reasonable amount for each removal session and booked my first appointment. I was even happier when they offered lidocaine, so no more banshee screams (my tattoo is on my ribs, so, OUCH)!! I was able to get through two sessions so far pain-free and have had great results (thick, jet-black ink is totally clear in some spots). Just personal preference, I've been going around every 6 months to give it plenty of clearing time. I'm very hopeful in achieving total or near-total removal of my tattoo and absolutely recommend Dr. Adrian as he literally performs wizardry with that laser! Many people read my initial review for the center for laser surgery. I've had an embarrassing tattoo that I've wanted removed and this past year I committed to that goal. Today will be my fourth session with Dr.Adrien and I know I'm in great hands. So far, I've seen so much fading and we pace out the sessions so it's feels manageable and not overwhelming- I will postpone additional sessions over the summer so I can travel and not take time out from swimming, beach time etc (it does take about 10 days to heal) and do session #5 in the fall. The staff is so nice and I've never felt uncomfortable or judged (my tattoo is embarrassing). It feels absolutely amazing to witness the progress and I'm so happy I chose the center for laser surgery. Dr. Adrian behaves worst than a toddler throwing a tantrum. He is rude and condescending and really doesn't care about his patients. He has a negative score for bedside manner. He will yell at you and treat you horribly. The lasers do not work as well as they are really old. The best thing about this place was Melanie Erb who has her own practice now and Kathy Shay who left for another DC practice to continue laser hair removal and other laser procedures. read more

I started to be treated for acne scar since Nov 2021. It's been close to one year and after over 10 appointments I think Dr. Adrian deserves a big shout out. Pricing During the initial consultation session, I was concerned about the cost as laser treatment and any treatment remotely related to plastic surgery may be intimidating. During the past 10 month, I managed to keep the cost within my tight budget and this clinic kept billing very transparent. New year new resolutions, one of my goals to work with the collagen in my face. Two Fridays ago, I visited the clinic and was seen by Katherine Butterfoss. I specifically asked her for information on Ultherapy to treat collagen formation on my cheeks and to try to raise my eyebrows. She explained it to me in a minute and indicated that the service was expensive. She didn't tell me the price, and he dodged me and omitted my questions to focus on Fraxel laser. Expensive? I am 50 years old; we are in inflation and is it possible to think that a middle-aged person who visits a clinic next door to my house in DC is not aware of the price? Discrimination because of my eyes and brown hair or lack of Business Acumen? Maybe both. Dr. Adrian Thomas must know that this nurse is bleeding and destroying his business.! I've had brown spots for many years. Before I came to see Dr. Adrian, I went to other places, spending a lot of money and waisting a lot of my time. I almost gave up until I met Dr. Adrian. He told me brown spots are easy to treat I only need 1 or 2 treatments. Guess what! He was right! Almost all of my brown spots are gone after one Ruby laser treatment! Those spots came out like peeling off tiny brown tape on my face. Dr.Adrian said it will be easy and simple but did't know it's this easy and this simple! He knows exactly what he is doing He is a certified dermatologist after all. There are not many places out there dermatologist is actually performing laser treatment for you. The big surprise was he charged me the same as those places run by aestheticians or some Dr (no one knows what kind of Dr) Lesson learned! I had a poor experience and did not even make it in to see a doctor! I have been waiting for months to finally have time for this appointment and was looking forward to Dr. Adrian being able to check out some issues I was having. I left work early, ordered an Uber and ran into some traffic. I proactively called them when I knew I was going to be 5-10 minutes late and they told me NOT TO COME. Like literally, I was IN THE UBER on my way and they said I couldnt come because Dr. Adrian had a "prior commitment". I was just really surprised at how unaccommodating they were when something unexpected happens. I expect more from a doctor and want someone who is patient AND patient-centered. It really rubbed me the wrong way and made me feel like I wasn't meant to be going there. Definitely did not like the vibe of this office that I could feel via the phone! read more

I saw Dr. Adrian for several concerns with a laser procedure I had recently (4 weeks out and still very red with some potential scarring). He examined my skin really carefully to make an assessment. I don't know why, but it annoys me so much when a doctor starts giving you an opinion without having a look at what your concern, so this was a very pleasant surprise (the original doctor didn't even come within 2 feet of me before declaring everything is great). Based on his examination, Dr. Adrian made some recommendations to help reduce scarring and inflammation, which I am super happy about. He also offered solutions for a couple of other issues I am having with melasma and festooning. I would definitely be following his recommendations and coming back for a laser in the fall. read more

Went to consult with Dr. Adriane about a tattoo removal. He was condescending to me and about his prior patients. He tried to rush me into removal when I came for a consultation and brushed aside my questions about the process. He didn't let me finish reading the waiver of liability and wouldn't let me take a copy to review before scheduling the procedure. The whole thing felt rushed and shady. UPDATE: Dr. Adrain personally called me to address the issue and apologized that I was accidentally overcharged. He said to come back in and he will treat me for free or he can refund me the amount. Will definitely be going back as the situation was held very professionally! Impressed! I will start of by saying Dr. Adrian did a lovely job for my first Botox. I wanted the minimal amount I could get and he did just that. I was very pleased with the results. Until i realized how overpriced it was. I was recommended here by my friend who told me your first time is half off (or half off a section, don't remember which). Although that shouldn't matter because he told me he was going to do it by the unit because I was getting such a small amount. Anyway, my total was $300, even with this half off deal. When I told my friend that's how much I paid she told me she only paid $180 for her first time and she got way more Botox than I did! Her second visit was then $300. I called them to try to get a better understanding of the difference in these prices and I still don't understand how my friend walked out paying significantly less than me while getting the same amount of Botox (maybe even more). They told me the price was correct and if I went back for my second treatment it would be over $300 this time!!!!! For baby botox!! I know I am new to Botox but I think this is way overpriced. I will have to find another place that can deliver the same results for reasonable $$. read more

Could have been a lot better. First of all, this review relates ONLY TO DR ADRIAN. )It does not apply to his staff. It esp does not apply to the staff who treat patients with botox and filler. the person I've seen there is highly skilled and very professional and nice) Dr Adrian advised me badly, he begrudged follow up time and laughed when I told him that the process was extremely painful. His most important negligence took place when he looked me in the eye and told me that my face would be free of redness in 3 weeks after laser resurfacing. Instead I was still incredibly unsightly and special make up could not hide the discoloration. I would never have had the procedure had I known how long it would take to look normal. It has finally faded after 4.5 months but is still evident. I was interviewing for jobs after the procedure and was panicked about how I looked. it was obvious during the follow up that Dr Adrian is completely detached and doesn't care at all about his patients. When I calmly reminded him that he had told me that All redness would be gone in 3 weeks yet 6 weeks later it was still bright and shown through the green make up he had suggested to hide it, he ran for the door. DON'T go to him. He just wants a fee. He doesn't care about patient satisfaction. i didn't give him a "1" because I don't think I am permanently disfigured and the procedure was a little bit successful in minimizing some little creases In my skin. (immediately after I mistook swelling for skin improvement and told him that the lines were gone-- he didn't bother to inform me that I was merely swollen and to wait to see if they were actually gone-- now I see that there was only minor improvement) finally I have since learned that a long recovery is not at all unusual for fair skin like mine. I went to Center for Laser Surgery 7 times for tattoo removal and was extremely disappointed. The woman who did my initial consultation stated that she was confident that I would be able to get rid of my tattoos in 6 treatments because of the color of the ink and my skin tone. My tattoos are only half-way removed, I have some light scarring, and am now going to a different removal place where they stated I'll need at least 4 more sessions. The place I am currently using stated that CFLS wasn't using the best and newest technology (my derm also agreed). Additionally, every time I went for an appointment at CFLS I wasn't kept with the same technician so it always felt like they had no idea where I should be in the removal process. The tattoo removal treatment felt like a waste of money. Would not recommend. read more

My experiences have all been positive. Price is definitely in the upper-average range for procedures. Staff has been friendly, moreso in 2013. I'm not sure if there's new management, but they've definitely made some nice overtures in reaching out to clients. In five treatments, I've not waited more than five minutes beyond my appointment time. The removal process has been (relatively) pain-free and quick. I would certainly recommend this facility to friends looking to have the same work as I done. read more

I had not been back for the last two years - while God did not grant me the cheekbones I'd hoped for, filler is f-ing expensive! Also, I had endured a really rough eye surgery during that time frame and frankly was not loving the idea of anyone coming near my face or eyes with anything sharp. However, the reality that I was starting to show a few signs of aging that my trusty retin-a and sunscreen combo couldn't fix led me to come see Jessica for a pick me up. Did I get filler? No. Why? Because she saw my puffy, jacked up eye that a previous surgeon had screwed up. I'd gone to FOUR oculoplastic surgeons trying to find out both why my eye looked like someone snuck a kidney bean under my eyeball and all of them gave me absurd explanations and ran away, not wanting to fix it or help. All of this happened right before my wedding, so let's just say thank God for photoshop. I'd given up and accepted my deformed eye but Jessica was like, "honey, I know what that is and for 100 bucks, I'll fix it. Please, just let me fix it." But but...you're an RN, and they were oculoplastic surgeons! Board certified and what not! How could you possibly fix this? She came at me with a needle, I prayed to Baby Jesus and then an hour later, my eye deflated. She fixed it. I look normal again. For 100 bucks. Would I marry Jessica if I could? Yes. Yes I would. Reasonable price, creative eye, genius. Amazing. read more

I LEGIT want to cry. I started microdermabrasion with Dr. Yolanda Holmes and loved the results. It was almost gone and Ms. Holmes was booked for a month. So, I called around and went here. While my regular dermatologist refuses to do extractions on the same day she does peels or microdermabrasion, they offered and I accepted. To level set, I get facials with extractions every 4-6 weeks. Well, my skin is ruined - bruising and scabbing that will definitely mean I will have to start my hyper pigmentation journey all over again. The last is from one is the 7 scabs falling off. I saw my dermatologist today who was flabbergasted at the damage to my skin. Maybe they just aren't adept at treating black skin, which does need to be handled with extreme care and expertise to avoid this kind of result. read more

I went to Dr. Adrian for a second opinion on a scar. Dr Adrian was okay, but he did everything so quickly that I felt like I couldn't even ask questions and felt a little uncomfortable. Within the span of 7 minutes, he introduced himself with lightning speed and performed a minor procedure on a scar, told me everything would be fine and left. UPDATE: Christine, a manager at the Center, called me back and set up a refund for the past charge. She was very professional and took personal care in making sure my situation was handled appropriately. I booked a follow-up appointment for February and trust that my experience there will be better. I went to the Center for Laser Surgery a couple of days ago and got laser hair removal treatment for my upper lip and chin area. Kathy was very kind and did an excellent job. However, I was UTTERLY disappointed at how I was treated by the receptionist/billing personnel. I had visited the Center for the same treatment in April, 2019. When I booked my current appointment, the person I spoke with told me that my charge would be $125 (I assume she looked at my chart and based it off my past service). I remember this clearly because I had to put in a credit card information to hold my appointment and she told me the charge will be placed 48 hours before my appointment. After I got the treatment on Tuesday, I stopped by merely to book my follow-up appointment only to be told that I actually owed $300. At this point, I explained that I was told the charge would be $125 on the phone while booking my appointment. The receptionist told me, no the nurse put down $300 for the appointment and that is the final price and indicated the person I spoke with must have made a mistake. At this point, I asked if I could get a detailed description of the pricing rubric. She phoned the nurse; I am not sure she knew I could overhear the conversation. But Kathy said, the price is $300 but if I bundled the treatments I could have a discount. After she hang up the phone, she told me that the price was $300 ($100 for upper lip and $200 for the chin). She made no mention of the proposed discount for a bundle (which set off an alarm for whether she was being 100% trustworthy). When I remarked what the possible discount was, she consulted with another employee (NOT the nurse she spoke with) and came back saying it would be 10% off. I was picking up that there is a haphazard pricing schedule (which is concerning by itself), but I was more disappointed that there was not even an acknowledgment or a suggested accommodation to help me deal with the extra $175 I had to foot immediately. I decided not to book a followup appointment. While I love the actual treatment, I will have to find a place where I can trust their billing practice and be certain I am getting fair pricing. If you decide to visit the place, make sure you ask the price (hopefully in writing) before you receive the service. read more

The staff seemed to me an extension of his family and they revere him as ever they did when under his direct tutelage. Going there means you are at the heart of the development of laser technology, and beauty,- and its continued advances. This is a cutting edge office and has everything for the health of skin and techniques and the science of beauty.. I was pleased to have participated in the Dysport study and under Amanda to have continued to have expert care for my complexion and -she has cured my Roseaca! When I visit the office it is simple to take the train to Tenleytown and one of the free American University buses a few blocks and walk the remaining 2 in just minutes . So now you know how to get there and I have told you why you would want to I will always be a happy patron. read more

I go here for Intense Pulse Light photofacials (IPL). Melanie and Amanda are the best -- and the front desk is literally run by the nicest gals ever! I have (had!) really bad rosacea. After 6 treatments of IPL, my rosacea is 90% gone and gets better every time. side effect: more radiant looking skin, way less blushing during exercise, and no anxiety around my skin probs. sessions cost me $250/ea because I have a beard (i.e. 1/2 face), more for ladies but always well worth it! I still go 3-4 times per year for maintenance. read more

The staff is absolutely wonderful from everyone that I have encountered the past year. Great experience with tattoo and hair removal. I've had friends pay more in the end elsewhere with more unneeded sessions because they were not seeing results. They are a bit pricey for me and given the area, but I have seen great outcomes with only a few of each session making it so worth it! Incredible technology. I plan on doing more as my budget allows. I love how they're honest enough to tell me that I don't need something or more treatments versus just taking the money. Rooms can be just a little too chilly, but that's all medical offices. Wonderful Jessica is no longer practicing at the Center for Laser Surgery. I would love to locate her. Recently i made an appointment with her replacement. My experience should deter anyone booking an appointment with this practice. One day after having both botox and Juvederm injections, the result of the treatment was four dime sized black and blue marks on either side of my nose (in the labial area) and smaller ones under my eyes. Three days later I still have two large black and blue marks. this has never happened in all the years Jessica treated me. I called Mrs Adrian twice. she did not return my calls. I did the only sensible thing I could do: Take pictures, and have my $1600 fee put into dispute by my credit card company. Please regard this review as a warning and a suggestion as to how to handle such a situation. read more

I came to see Dr. Adrian to remove brown spots on my face. He used ruby laser which was effective, quick, and relatively painless (feels like little pinches). I've had these spots on my face for years and no amount of makeup would cover them. I also don't know why I spent so much money on creams and serums that were never effective. Ladies and gentlemen, if you can, just book an appointment and not waste anymore time and money on techniques that do not work. I can attest to that. On one side, the lighter brown spot disappeared after one treatment. The other side is darker and more stubborn so I went twice. It has lightened more and I'm satisfied for now as I want it to heal more before going again. Dr. Adrian knows what he's doing and just like his late father who started this clinic, is very honest and professional. He will tell you if something can be done or not; he's interested in taking care of his patients and building a relationship, not just take your money. I will be back soon. read more

I am so glad to have found Amanda. I had mixed results with my first Botox injections (which were administered elsewhere) but wasn't ready to give up on it as a method of treatment for the deep lines in my forehead. I came the the Center for Laser Surgery hopeful that I could soften those lines without having to sacrifice the ability to make natural looking facial expressions (which was the problem the first time around) and Amanda not only met, but totally exceeded that goal. I look relaxed and refreshed and didn't have a bit of bruising. In fact, I headed to Chef Geoff's (which is right next door) for dinner following my treatment. I am a few months out from my appointment now and am pleasantly surprised by how long the results have lasted. I've been to many dermatologists over the past 40 years, but none as wonderful as Dr. Maren Shaw. I went in to have her "look at" a bump on my nose that had been getter larger over the years. Dr. Shaw removed it, put some healing aid on it (sorry, don't know the technical term) and I was on my way. When I got to my car (I had some friends who were waiting for me as I had to take them to the airport), they couldn't even see the mark where the bump was...no pain, no scaring, absolutely amazing. Additionally, Dr. Shaw has treated eczema (after many unsuccessful attempts by other dermatologists) on my hands and my daughters legs - we finally have it under control thanks to her diagnosis. read more
