Scheduled repair on non working dryer for next day, tech did not show up in time window so I called Davis Appliances and found they had my wrong address and phone number. I gave the dispatcher my correct address and my cell number. Apparently the Davis person took the phone number from the phone display - I called from my work phone which is the number the tech had and he couldn't contact me. So after I sorted this out he came to me during the later time frame. He needs parts to fix my dryer, that is fine. I had not heard from David about the followup visit, so I HAD TO CALL DAVIS late morning the next day to find out about my dryer repair. They did not prioritize me and now I have to wait three more days to have a functional dryer. When I contacted Davis today They STILL DID NIT HAVE MY CORRECT PHONE NUMBER - which I gave to them twice over the last two days. There are other repair services, use them. My first instinct is always, go with the local place. Support your community, keep dollars there, all of that. So I've gone with these guys even when it's been a little more expensive or a little more time or whatever. But that has to be reciprocal, they need to look after their customers, and instead these days seem like the ethos is basically, 'another one will be along soon.' We recently had an appliance from them that lasted out of its one year warranty but not more than two years and they were basically like tough luck - no break on a worthless service visit or replacement. I get that stuff happens but you have to take care of your regular customers if you want them to stay that way. So it's at the point where on price and customer service they're just too far behind the Big Box stores and that's a real drag. read more

David Appliance Charlottesville, VA DO NOT buy ANYTHING from this crook. In good faith I purchased a Whirlpool washer/dryer combo from this company in 2021. The washer immediately started to leak from the bottom, water running all the way across my new tile floors. After every load I have been mopping up water! This company attempted to fix the washer twice, but it continued to leak. Ronnie at Davis Appliance stated he would have to "eat" the cost of this machine and replace it. Promised he had ordered it in 2021. After MONTHS AND MONTHS of following up with this company, I continually got the runaround about how the machine had not come in. Ronnie kept using COVID as the excuse for these product issues. I was offered a Maytag with dasher but I didn't buy a Maytag with a dasher. I wanted my set to match as it did when I purchased it. Calling again for months and months, still no machine. I called Ronnie again in the fall of 2022. Ronnie again told me he had no news to tell me and when he did HE WOULD CALL ME. I had to buy a specific drip pan to catch the water that continues to leak out of this machine. When I called Ronnie for the last time on 3/16/2023, he threw this problem at me and told me it was my fault because I had waited so long to call him. When I specifically reminded him he had told me he would call me when he had news, he replied "I can't shit it out." I replied with "That's really professional." He accused me of using profane language with him, which I certainly did not use. This man is a con artist and the worst of liars. He had no intention of honoring the warranty nor replacing this faulty machine. Run, don't walk, away from this poor excuse of a business. read more

The people at Davis were great!. I easily set an appointment for them to come see about a broken dryer. After I looked up a few simple repair tips online, I pulled the thermostat and heater coil (a 5 minute task) and took parts into them. They quickly identified the issue by testing each part for continuity, and I was able to effect the repair at minimal time and cost. I highly recommend a business that's happy to help a customer make an easy repair before charging more money on a house call, and will recommend them in the future. read more

A broken appliance is super stressful and Davis appliance (and the management team made this MUCH worse)! Instead of coming to a scheduled appointment the repairman called and did some phone-troubleshooting, and then ordered a part, based on the phone conversation. as It turns out, this was the wrong part, the manager was rude to me TWICE and even yelled at me on the phone that I needed to pay for a service call (that phone call). Why would anyone shop where management is rude and yells at customers? read more

My dryer recently stopped working and Tom was invaluable! He was able to help me troubleshoot the problem, and explain how to take things apart and look at a few parts. I brought some parts in to the store and he tested them and determined which one was broken, and even helped me figure out if a spare part I had was compatible. He was helpful and courteous to me and spent time helping me, and I never once felt like he was only in it for the Sale. Highly recommend! read more

When critiquing a business it's not about the problems... all businesses have them. It's how they REACT to problems that is important. I had a good lesson in that with Davis recently. We had a large appliance fail that needed to be brought back to the shop for repair. No biggy. However, it sat there for weeks... and here is my one word of caution: if they take your appliance, make sure they know they have it! They are focused on in-home repairs and actually forgot my refrigerator was there! But, as I said, it's how they reacted that is important. Once we figure out the reason for the delay, Davis got on it right away and managed to get it back to us the next day (which happened to be the day before Thanksgiving). I've been using Davis for many years and will continue to do so. read more

Tom is expert at finding your parts, and if you are a do it yourselfer they are happy to help you find something even though they won't get the service call. We even bought a washing machine from them rather than a larger home improvement type store because their prices were fair and we knew they would back the product. read more

My 3 year old dishwasher was giving an error code so I thought I would give them a try. I called them up and told them the model number and error code. The technician came by, looked at it for 10 minutes, told me the error code I had already given them and said I needed a new dishwasher. He then charged my $120 dollars for the 10 minute service call, but it could be applied if I bought a new dishwasher from them. Seemed almost like a scam. Will not use again. read more

Our oven shorted and we had GE come and take a look. He jiggled some things around, got it to start working and said I needed a new mother board (about $500-$600). Since it was working I asked why do we need a new mother board and he said just in case. Well that seemed silly to drop that much cash when it seemed to be working. He then tried to sell my parts for our other GE Appliances since I didn't agree to a new mother board. A few days later, I was using the oven and it did not seem to be heating through, so instead of dealing with the shady GE service, I called Davis and I am so glad I did. Their tech came out and diagnosed the problem. We did NOT need a new mother board, but rather a new latch for the oven door. Big difference in problem and in price. I am so glad we went with Davis and not only saved some money, but also our problem was fixed quickly and correctly! read more

Do not use this company. I have lived in Charlottesville for 30 years and this company has the worst service I have experienced. I had a simple appliance issue and needed an ice maker fixed. They misdiagnosed the problem, made four trips to my house, finally fixed it but charged me for a part I didn't actually need and an arbitrary 'trip charge' that was 45% of the total bill. After almost two months of trying to resolve the bill and repeated requests to talk to the manager there was no adjustment on the bill and the manager refused to call. They don't care about the customer experience and their repairman is not good. read more

I needed a repair for my dryer. Davis was able to schedule someone to come in a couple of days. The technician had the necessary part, rapidly diagnosed the issue, replaced the part, tested and put it all back together quickly. I was impressed with his competency and professionalism. My dog was impressed with the treats he brought with him! I will definitely use them again, if another appliance breaks. Nice people. read more

This place is great if you have an issue with your appliances! We had a really cold night and the water adapter piece broke on my washer due to freezing. I took a photo of the piece and the model number and they quickly pulled the part up and ordered it for next day delivery. The piece was a perfect fit and now I can wash my clothes again! read more

I was visiting my sister's house in C-ville from out of town when her stacked washer dryer went belly up on Sunday. She was busy elsewhere, so the fix became my project. Monday, called a bunch of "appliance repair" places listed in Yelp; Davis was the only one to respond positively, after a referral from one of the others who wouldn't show. Davis sent a guy next day. He didn't have the part needed -- an apparently indestructible blower fan that we had managed to turn into a plane wreck -- so there was a day wait, then another because the first repairman injured himself elsewhere. Too bad, nice guy, very professional. I hope he's feeling better now. The dispatcher called to let us know about the delay. The second guy came in with the part on the day promised, and promptly installed it. They work as fast as they can, never trying to rack up more billable time. Anyway, he left and my dryer started smoking (believe it or not). Residual lint on the heating element? Who knows. I shut it down and got on the phone to bring him back. He came right after finishing his lunch interrupted by my distress call to their dispatcher. He patiently heard me out about the smoke. Neither of us could replicate it. There had been a rattling noise left over once he had put everything together the first time, and I asked him to fix that. He took the top off the machine and found a dime ??? inside one of the fins in the drum, which rattled every full rotation, driving me nuts. Put it all back together. Didn't charge me for the additional time he had taken to make it perfect, and friendly declined a thank you tip. What more could you ask? read more

my daughter's washer broke while I was visiting. I did some internet research, took it apart on the back deck and finally decided it was the pump. it has one pump for both bring water in and draining. I called davis appliance about a replacement part. the lady was so nice and helpful. she found the part, for about the same price I could get it online, and gave me some great advice. she was surprised that they still sold parts for that machine as it was a lemon and there was a class action suit involving it. I already knew that from my internet research but everything she told me was correct. she recommended not throwing money at a part for this machine. Absolutely the worst. Service appointment scheduled 830am midweek- (I of course took off from work) no call, no show. When I called to find out what happened, The "Flu Fairy" took out most all staff. Mentioned it was not in their best interest not to inform clients the eve before- or morning of... but nonetheless rescheduled for following week - same day, same time. Again, no call, no show. When I called at 930am to find out what happened again, the person that answered the phone said most staff was out due to significant snowfall (3 inches) and the roads were terrible (no they weren't) Lame excuse not to call again. When I said I wanted to cancel for good, the man on the phone told me to call back when the secretary was in - AND THEN ABRUPTLY HUNG UP ON ME. Thanks for costing me 6 hours of work pay! For reasons I don't understand, Doug's Maytag no longer services KitchenAid ovens, leaving me at the mercy of Davis Appliances. First time I had them out they were late, and then they had to order parts. Heard nothing from them for weeks. Finally followed up, was told it all sounded familiar, but they had no information about my order. Eventually, they figured it out and the oven got repaired. LIttle did I know the Keystone Cops could get even worse. had a different issue with my oven. Made an appointment for today between 10 and Noon. He asked if I knew the model of my oven. No, don't you have it your system. No, our system only goes back 5 months. My cell phone keeps information more than 5 months! I called at 1030 to make sure I was still on the schedule and was assured I was. At Noon, I get a call from the technician informing me he was stuck on a job in Keswick and would be late, and might not make it until about 130. Duh, and or hello, you knew you were going to be late an hour ago -- why didn't you call me then so i would plan my morning accordingly? I called Davis to complain. The fellow who answer has no idea just how unprofessional he sounds when he talks to customers. "I would have called you to tell you he was running late, if he had bothered to call me to tell me he was stuck on the job. He just wont ever call us. Ive got two people out in the parking lot arguing about this exactly problem" -- sorry pal, I don't give a rats rear end about your internal HR issues, that is YOU problem, not a ME problem, what I care about is what are you going to do to make this right? "nothing I can do, other than to reschedule you" How about not charging me the full cost of the service call? "I don't have the authroity to do that" Who does? "Randy Snoddy" Let me speak to him "He is not available" When will he be available? "Who knows, he is hardly ever here. Made an appointment to have my refrigerator repaired. They gave me a 3 hr window to show up from 9-12. I waited until 12:15 and never heard from them. Went to work and finally got a call from them at 12:53 saying he'd gotten held up and did he want me to come by. Called to reschedule and were basically unapologetic about wasting my time. read more

I will never use Davis appliance again, their customer service is poor to say the least, I would even call it abysmal. My opinion of their company comes from multiple poor experiences. They do not seem to have the ability to effectively fix anything effectively. It would be normal for someone to have a weakness and excel at something else. However, I have had them first service my Dryer then my Refrigerator. In the case of the drier they came out and looked at it and claimed it needed parts. They ordered said part, took several days and then came back to install it. During the second call they found that a foreign object had made its way between the drums. They charged us twice for their incompetence. Second time they came to work on my refrigerator because my Freezer was working but my refrigerator was not. They said the refrigerator needed a timer part that would allow the refrigerator to cool again. The said it would take a day or two for the part to arrive. They promised me that they would come out as soon as the part arrived. I received notification on a Wednesday that the part was there, I was then told that they could not come and install it until the following Monday. At this point I reminded them that I had no refrigeration in my home and had already been out for over a week. And asked if there was any way they could move up the appointment. I was told no. I then decided to pick up the $10 part and figure out how to install it myself, which I believe I did correctly per instructions I found online. Since I replaced the part the refrigerator cools but is not nearly as cold as it should be. And my freezer seems to be constantly keeping an inch to inch and a half of snow in it. Which I cannot clear. I am reaching out to other repair shops, hoping I can find someone to fix what Davis blundered. Another point of frustration is they require you to provide Make, Model and serial number before they will come out. On my first visit I figured oh good, they are going to come prepared with parts they think they will need to handle it in one call. NOPE! Regardless of whether they have the required information or not they always have to make two service calls. In the case of the drier repair, they instructed me on the phone to take apart half of the machine to look for foreign objects. (BEFORE THEY WOULD COME OUT). I told them flat out that I was not a repair man and I would not do that. If I had the skills to do that I would not need their assistance. Trust me, you are better off trying to fix it yourself, I have never met a more incompetent group of people in my entire life. read more

Wow. That's all I can say. I booked an appointment for a technician to come repair refrigerator a week and a half ago. Arrival time was to be between 930 and 10am. When 10 o'clock arrived and I hadn't received a phone call letting me know he was on the way (which I was told would happen) or anything, I called Davis appliance. The man that answered told me the technician Cecil was not in yet quite frankly, he didn't know when he was going to be in or if he would be in at all due to the RAIN. Are you kidding me?!? So I said why didn't someone call and let me know this and the man was defensive and made excuse after excuse saying he doesn't even know if his employees coming in so how can he call me. I said "your employee not call his employer and let you know he when he will be in??" and he just continued to make excuses. It was totally bizarre. I said to him "I do not understand.." and he cut me off and said "well try to understand". There's no reason why someone could not of called me and told me the technician will not be here at said time. It was among the weirdest and most unprofessional experience I have had in a while. Too bad Gordon Ramsey only saves failing restaurants... this place needs help. read more
